3-0 out of 5 stars A reprint is on its way
This book has been out of print for a long time, and was made in very limited numbers. Also, the binding was notoriously bad, so many copies have fallen apart. Additionally, no official PDF of the product was ever released. Getting your hands on a copy is exasperating to say the least.
Wonderfully, that is all going to change. The book is scheduled for a reprinting sometime in the coming months (though without a known deadline, it may be up to a year or longer before it hits shelves). It will be accompanied with a full PDF. Both the book and the PDF will be fully errata'd versions of the original box set.
The original box set was mostly fantastic, though it suffered from the above and also from the charm set. While Dragon Blooded charms were fantastic, and most Lunar charms were as well, the Solar charms were horrendously bad. They were thematically boring, mechanically incompetent, and, in the case of Zeal (a charm whose name has become a buzzword for awful charm design), setting breaking.
This will all be changed in the upcoming reprint (thanks to the errata), so rather than spending your money on this heavily inflated artifact of a source book, just give it a little time. You will be rewarded with a book that will be everything this was meant to be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome product
This is a great product. It does have some flawed charms that should never have been printed, but most of the charms are useful expansions to the trees in the base books. It also gives the reader perpective on how 1st age exalts viewed life and their place in the world.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good, But has some problems
In general I enjoyed this product very much and anybody who is into Exalted would also enjoy it.I'm dinging it a bit in it's score because of problems with the editing.I've noticed a number of places where it actively contradicts some other exalted books. Also while it set up some interesting setting info it's an era of peace so you are going to have to work to create some drama and adventure, this product doesn't give much guidance in that regard.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing Stuff
This is a HUGE installment for the Exalted RPG.
Exalted is a game published by White Wolf Game Studio and is placed in a mythic Second Age of Man where magic, technology and fantasy are the rule of the game. And in this Box there is more than enough stuff to live in the First Age of Creation where wonders are the norm and miracles just take a little longer. Heroes battle enemies and save thousands. Magic is world-wide and its effects rival those of the Incarnae themselves.
This is MUST for all Exalted fans!

5-0 out of 5 stars First Age Fantastic!
Exalted is my favorite setting from White Wolf, and after years of waiting and wondering what the First Age truly had to offer its inhabitants, now we get a glimpse of the grandeur and power that existed before the Usurpation. The ideas this accessory spawned for my own games as innumerable and I can't wait to put some of these ideas in motion for my players!I highly recommend this boxed set to Exalted fans everywhere, it's got just what you've been looking for! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A well done and useful supplement for any Exalted game
Wonders of the Lost Age is a excellent supplement for Exalted that covers a great many new toys for Exalted players and GMs to play with. The setting and background information is a bit thin, but this is a book that emphasizes the crunch of rules not the fluff of setting so it's not entirely unexpected. There are hordes of new artifacts and items to be found, how to keep them repaired and functional, and some rules on creating them. The creation rules are, unfortunately, rather lacking. Even so, there's a lot to see.

The first section covers vehicles and transportation. Everything from single person flying wings to flying battlecruisers to personal transport devices like cloaks that turn into wings can be found. The next section covers many creative and utilitarian artifacts. The following section is a favorite of many players, being that it contains new weapons and armor, including the awesome battle armor artifacts. Next comes created life and constructs. Finally come the big guns used to make war. Siege weapons, mass combat items, and the infamous Warstriders can be found here.

Many of the items here are more suited for an action, adventure, or combat oriented game, but even an intrigue or social oriented game will find items worth introducing into their games with this books.

4-0 out of 5 stars Standing ovation
Ok the idea to divide the book in 5 aspects that are the Maidens purviews was an excellent move. The one that came with that idea is a genius, really. I thought something like that and when I saw it done, it was WOOOOOAW.

The idea to have technomagic is great. Final Fantasy inspired no doubt.
Creating some sorcerous craft as to be able to manufacture scientific advanced gadgets also a clean move. That they can be repaired and maintained and have high-level power in exchange of certain rituals, oils, reargents and periodic tune ups is great idea. The warstriders rule.

The idea of been able to have Genetics and mutate life is also a nice idea, yet it lacks many more examples, many more rules and somehow needs more clarification cause somehow I felt it small in comparison to all the combat-related artifacts.

The book has over 100 examples ready to use and also ready to tamper with and even enahcing and mixing em.

A must have in the Exalted collection.
Worth every cent! [or peso]

4-0 out of 5 stars L3wT!
Ah, magical artifacts...and when they're technomagical artifacts, all the better. This is a very imaginative collection of items--combat and noncombat--for Exalted Storytellers to tempt their players with, or to equip opponents with. Vehicles (for getting around the enormous distances of Creation), armor and weapons, battlefield equipment, and a great many things to make life easier (or in some cases, much harder). The section on warstriders is particularly tasty.

This book also expands the Exalted backstory, letting us know how magical-technology developed and was used in the goldan age of the Solar Deliberative, and how it has fallen to its current state.

There are only two things keeping this from getting five stars: First, I was hoping for more detailed rules on artifact construction, to help me figure out exactly how many background points an item is worth. Second, I was *really* hoping for a lot more Sorcery spells! As in the 1st edition, the 2nd Edition core rules have only a few spells, and you would think the first Book of Sorcery would rectify that. Nope: this volume has only artifacts.

For what it is, it's great. We'll just have to wait for a later volume to get those spells.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book....
This book is packed full of incredible devices for any one who enjoys Exalted. The book has a wealth of knolage from the first age as well as the age of sorrows.

The book has a few sections in it that divide the items by uses, that is the only way i can discribe it. There is a giant amount of artifacts that have nothing to do with combat, and then others that are. There is a section on warstriders, basicly single man "death machines" that basicly look like Large Metal Robots.

Most of the items in this volume are very well detailed and all have pictures that show you what they would more that likely look like. I don't like saying that IS what they look like because, well, this is RPing people, things change by a player/GM's perception.

Anyway, enough of my ramblings, This book rocks and has items that range from pens to armor to boots to Royal Class Warstriders. This book is about gear in the world of Exalted.

P.S. It looks like there is going to be about 4 more of these books. My best guess is that one will be for Sorcery, but that is just one book. If you think of anything else, post it here to give me some ideas on the other ones. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars And then, they were as GODS!!!
The third of the three main books of the Scion series, your characters at last attain the powers of true gods and are now able to battle the Titans themselves as well as their various spawn. The book is not unlike the other books in the series, focusing heavily on the pre-written story that takes the character's through all of the elements of the game, but there is more than enough in the book to make players and Storytellers happy.

As of yet, I have only looked through the book. I have not had a chance to play using it as all of my players are still merely Heroes (using the first book), but at a glance, this book did not disappoint.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice way to ascend to godhood
The cover was what made me buy this book, it is just Amazing!

Then we got serious.
The book closes the cycle between being a hero, rising as a demigod and finally becoming something more.

The rules follow the mechanics set on the first two books and implements new stuff such as the avatars (now that your character's a god then she can't be as it is in mortal affairs anymore).

There are new enemies (very powerfuls enemies) and powers (as expected).

Buy it to complete your collection and to play as a new god, I recommended it only if you know or have the previous books (Hero and Demigod).

5-0 out of 5 stars It's Awesome
I've always wanted to feel how to achieve godlike state...

This book help me too feel that way...

For powerplayer gamers, I highly recommend this book...

5-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful and amazing book
Having read the previous review below (or above) I had to post a review myself. This game is the final of a trilogy of books that cover an amazingly popular and IMO well developed role playing game. Herein you play the scion (or son) of a god of myth. Whether you explore the Messoamerican or Amerindian mythos, the Norse gods or even the Olympian pantheon, you can tailor and construct a character that has epic qualities and abilities. In this the third installment you play a character on par with a god of legend. Yes, the books are not for newbish or twinkish gamers who may revel in D&D. Does it require a higher level of roleplaying skill? Yes. Does it demand more from the game master? Yes. Does it deliver a dynamic system and a fun milieu? Absolutely yes. So, if you want a colorful, detailed and exciting game with an equally exciting setting, then pick it up and judge for yourself. In fact due to popular demand and sales, White Wolf, the publishers of the game, have decided to print yet another sourcebook and provide pdf expansions to the game. This despite the fact that they orignally only meant to publish the basic 3 books.

2-0 out of 5 stars Very poor value for players.
While I like the concept behind the Scion game, I really can't recommend either Scion: Demigod or Scion: God to anyone but Storytellers. From a player's perspective these books are a very bad value.Scion: Demigod and Scion: God each contain about 50 pages of useful player information detailing Epic (and Ultimate) Attributes, Boons, and Knacks at the Demigod and God levels respectively. In a move to get players to buy these books before their characters reach those levels of power, White Wolf has also thrown in some Knacks that can be bought at any power level, even just starting out.Everything else in these two books is of no real use to anyone but a Storyteller.Given the high list price of these books thats a terrible value for your money. ... Excerpt:Cartwright in 1855 Alexander Cartwright Alexander Joy Cartwright, Jr. (April 17, 1820 July 12, 1892), was officially declared the inventor of the modern game of baseball by the United States Congress on June 3, 1953. Baseball In the early twentieth century, the invention of baseball was attributed to Abner Doubleday , widely considered a myth by later sports historians. Cartwright was a bookseller in Manhattan, and a volunteer fireman. Cartwright founded the Knickerbocker Base Ball Club (after the Knickerbocker Fire Engine Company) in 1842. They played a brand of stick-and-ball game called the town game . In 1845 Cartwright and a committee from his club drew up rules converting this playground game into a more elaborate and interesting sport to be played by adults. He and other firemen played on a field at 47th and 27th Streets. The rules of the modern game are based on their by-laws, and Cartwright is thought to be the first person to draw a diagram of a diamond shaped field. The Knickerbockers participated in the first competitive game (as opposed to intramural) under these rules on June 19, 1846. The Knickerbockers lost 23 1 to the New York Nine. Questions New York City librarian Robert W. Henderson documented Cartwright's contributions to baseball in his 1947 book Bat, Ball, and Bishop , which Congress cited in recognizing Cartwright as the inventor of the modern game. Although there is no question that Cartwright was a prominent figure in the early development of baseball, some students of baseball history have suggested that Henderson and others embellished Cartwright's role. Customer Reviews (3)

5-0 out of 5 stars The values and beliefs of most European-Americans are challenged to the very core by Ronald Peden.
From the opening pages of "Notes On The State of America:Black to the future, or White from the past?" author Ronald Peden makes his premise perfectly clear. He is advocating slavery Reparations as the best if not the only way for Black America to finally achieve the political and economic independence that has eluded them since slavery was finally abolished nearly a century and a half ago.As Mr. Peden sees it, such half measures as affirmative action have failed miserably and he simply cannot understand why we continue to send billions of dollars overseas while a large percentage of Americans languish in poverty and despair. Now as a European-American I must admit that I was a bit taken aback by Mr. Peden's rather forthright approach. In the past whenever I heard the proposition of Reparations brought up I kind of snickered and immediately dismissed the idea out of hand. However, I find that after reading "Notes On The State of America"I at least understand why so many African-Americanleaders wholeheartedly embrace this solution. To say the least, Ron Peden's book is a real eye-opener!

While I have read a number of other fine books about the slave trade including Ron Soodalter's "Hanging Captain Gordon" and Charles Rappleye's "Sons of Providence" none of them were written from the perspective of a black man.In this meticulously researched volume Ron Peden carefully dismantles many of the myths surrounding the institution of slavery. There is a school of thought among many European Americans that Africans themselves were chiefly responsible for the slave trade. But as Peden points out this argument is largely delusional as it was the European demand for slaves in the fifteenth and sixteenth centuries that really drove the market and led to a phenomenol spike in the wealth of such European nations as Italy, France, German and later on England.Furthermore, Peden painstakingly illustrates how the spectaculargrowth of the fledgling U.S. economy in the early part of the nineteenth century could never have taken place without the patently immoral and inhumane institution of slavery. The author goes on to point an accusatory finger at many of our nation's Founding Fathers such as Washington, Jefferson and Madison, all of whom were slaveholders who accrued fabulous wealth and lived opulent lifestyles on the backs of the slaves they kept.Peden goes on to document the emergence of the U.S. banking system and the development of the tobacco, cotton, transportation and textile industries in this nation and how all of these were inexorably linked to the institution of slavery.

In the concluding chapter of"Notes On The State of America" Ron Peden presents a number of different proposals on what Reparations might look like.It seems that just about all options are on the table including a geographical partition encompassing a number of states. These ideas no longer seem so far-fetched to me and some actually seem quite reasonable.I am not quite sure how far I might be willing to go down this road but after reading "Notes On The State of America:Black to the future, or White from the past?" at least I am now willing to talk about it."Notes On The State of America" certainly shook me up and challenges much of what I had been taught.Icertainlyintend to read more about this controversial subject.I enjoy reading all points of view and this is one perspective that I had never seen before. This is an exceptionally well written book that deserves to be considered in the marketplace of ideas.Very highly recommended!

4-0 out of 5 stars Race Relations and why African-Americans Deserve Reparations
NOTES ON THE STATE OF AMERICA: Black to the Future, or White from the Past, is an ambitious and thoroughly researched text about race relations and why African Americans are deserving of reparations. Ronald Peden writes this very informative piece with his own brand of intellectual scholarship peppered with the authenticity of hip hop. Each chapter is forwarded with a quote from popular hip hop songs by artists like Redman, Foxy Brown, and Tupac. From the acknowledgements to the very last page Peden's writing takes no prisoners with literal fighting words challenging the racist notions persistent in today's most celebrated writings on race.

The book starts off with scathing critiques of James W. Loewen, Elizabeth Fox-Genovese, and Ira Berlin. These bestselling and/or award winning authors receive more than a slap on the wrist for writing what Peden describes as, "romanticized revisionism" on slavery. He calls out lack of proper citation as well as arguments that serve no other purpose than to relieve white guilt, and as Peden says, "promote white supremacy". Even in the acknowledgments, Peden calls out "individual employees" at the Cambridge Public Library as well as the library director. According to Peden, "...the begrudging attitudes, and at times, overtly-discouraging assistance...must also be acknowledged, because of the chilling effect on the conduct of serious research, not to mention on learning and the dissemination of knowledge..."

Although his writing is emotionally charged, he provides substance to back up his claims. Chocked full of financial records, statistics, and slave ship logs, it is hard for even the most cynical opponent of reparations to argue against these facts. I would be remiss not to mention that Peden uses his experience as a foster child to draw parallels between his life and slavery. These stories often read like a memoir, and in the event of such a book, I will be first in line to read it. However, in the context of his arguments, at times they seemed drawn out and out of place. There is also what looks to be scorpions bordering every single page from literal cover to cover. This is a visual divergence that would force, even the most steadfast reader, to apply diligence while trying to maintain focus. There are also maps, pictures, and stylized WordArt that can be found in the center of pages, sometimes hindering the accessibility of important information. As misplaced as they are, these images are helpful in proving many of Peden's points. This book reads like a textbook, however Peden has weaved the colloquial language of hip hop to create some truly funny and memorable assertions. Even though book contains some distractions that may put off a more discerning audience, the facts will certainly speak for themselves.

NOTES ON THE STATE OF AMERICA contains more than enough substantive information to keep reparations debaters on the winning side of this argument.

5-0 out of 5 stars Notes on the State of America
This is an extremely powerful book about the history and current implications of racial injustice in America. It does an outstanding job of assessing the impact of slavery on America's social and economic development, in quick-moving prose that is both compelling and often entertaining. Uninitiated readers like myself will appreciate its provocative and eye opening perspective on the history and state of our nation, while scholars of American history will be interested in the original contributions it makes to the reparations debate.

One of the reviews on the back of the book is by Cornell West, a highly regarded author and professor at Princeton University:

"Reparations continues to be a burning issue in Black America. When will the country as a whole confront its deep implications? This book is a great help for us. Don't miss it!"

Product Description
Lock And Load
Sometimes it's about tactics. Sometimes it's about personal skill. Sometimes it's about teamwork. And sometimes it's just about having a big enough gun to kill every last enemy in the room with a few squeezes of the trigger. There are a lot of options for mayhem. Why choose just one?
A Character Book for World of Darkness
o An array of artifact weapons, both blessed and cursed, where each can be used as the focus of an entire story. These weapons are both blessed and cursed
o A new look at Fighting Styles in the World of Darkness: Old styles are reexamined, and several new styles are introduced, each with new rules, histories, and characters to go along with them.
o Rules for future weapons, the high-tech, bleeding-edge armament that characters might bring to bear against the horrors of the World of Darkness.
o A whole chapter devoted to hacking apart the combat mechanics of the Storytelling System and rebuilding them so they suit the needs of your game. Gritty combat? Blood-soaked cinematics? Monster-specific rules tweaks? All that, and more. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book - if the focus is interesting for you
Howdy !
I baught this book because the section with the new fighting styles seemed interesting. And I can say I'm not disapointed ! The modular structure of different "abstract" fighting styles allows you to map the maneuvers to the "real world" fighting art you want your character to follow.
I haven't spent much time yet on the first part of the book - cursed/blessed/enchanted weapons as story hooks.
It seems to my that there are paralells to "Reliquary", but I havn't read this so this is just a gut feeling.
The second part I liked is the one with "combat hacks". Ideas how you could change combat rules (dmage, healing, hitting, ...) to suit you style of game. It reaches from "Hollywood style weapon knockback" to "faster / slower healing".
The last section "Future weapons" is nice if you have a combat heavy round going. All these items are in prototype / early development phase in the "real world" so these are no Sci-Fi weapons.

Conclusion:
Good book, even though it is not as esential as the first "Armory".

4-0 out of 5 stars Armory Reloaded Review
The first Armory showcased and featured a wide variety of weapons, vehicles, equipment and merits that had me wondering just how Reloaded could meet the hype and expectations or what new it could even offer.

On getting a hold of this book and reading it, I find much of the material presented is best suited in the hands of the ST.

The first chapter features Storied Weapons. All of which can provide hours of fun for a chronicle just centering around one weapon.

Chapter two offers more use for players and STs with new Fighting Styles, taking a look at older ones and new ones with rules and ways that a player can play and design the type of fighting style and fighter character they want.

Chapter three takes a look at Future Weapons in a chronicle. While good, I'd use this sparringly. And the section on bugs and drawbacks of future weapons such as the dead getting back up or strengthening a Spirit can cause players to rethink options with tech always being the answer or solution.

Chapter four covers Hacks. Again, this is mainly for the ST who can use these to provide ways of making combat more or less deadly and certainly more cinematic or realistic. ... Read more
