Product Description
Three classic books on Louis C. Tiffanys brilliant Art Nouveau works are combined here in one volume. Louis C. Tiffany Rebel in Glass, Louis C. Tiffanys Glass- Bronzes-Lamps, and Louis C. Tiffanys Art Glass by Robert Koch, the foremost scholar in the field, informed and delighted a generation of art lovers before they went out of print and became hard to find. This combined edition brings the innovative career of one of Americas most original artists to a new generation of collectors. It retains all of the original text and photographs of the former editions and has many additional color photographs of Tiffanys most treasured designs from some of finest museum collections in America. Here are the glass windows, lamps, and vases from the flamboyant 1880s to 1920s era that made Louis C. Tiffany famous. Tiffanys bronze desk sets, paintings, ceramics, mosaic tiles, room interiors, lighting devices, decorative glass, and jewelry are all prominently featured. Every art student, museum professional, historian, antique dealer, and art collector will be dazzled by the variety and exquisite craftsmanship displayed here. The book is a treasure itself. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Important Compilation From One Who Spurred Tiffany's Revival
By the time Louis Comfort Tiffany died in 1933, the once world renouned artist was well on his way to obscurity. In 1954,Robert Koch, then a graduate student studying architecture at Yale University came across Tiffany's work. This introduction spawned a life long immersion in the artistry of Louis C. Tiffany. As a university professor of art history, Robert Koch's influence can be found in the revival of interest in the turn of the 20th century movements known as Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau. His most important contribution, however, has been in repopularizing Tiffany for later generations. Today, many volumes of uneven quality on Tiffany have been published. Most are simply picture books that dazzle the eye. All, however, owe much to the 1964 publication of Robert Koch's original "Rebel in Glass" that stirred the renewal of interest in Louis Tiffany by presenting not only important photographs but original scholarship that still is unsurpassed. The new "Collected Works of Robert Koch" brings together in one volume his three previously published books on Tiffany. As an added bonus, the reader will find new, luscious photographs that further cement Tiffany's place as one of America's most important artists. This book is a must, not only for Tiffany collectors but for anyone interested in the history of American art, Art Nouveau and Arts & Crafts. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Tiffany Book
The Art of Louis Comfort Tiffany:... by Donald L. Stover

My interest in this particular book about Tiffany is the author. We graduated high school together 50 years ago.I had lost track of him until this summer. As an art major and retired art teacher I was interested in what he had accomplished as well as having a great admiration for the work of Tiffany. This is a well written and researched book.I have enjoyed having it in my library.

My copy of this book is well used.I have no problem with that.It arrived in good time and the seller was good to work with.I would recommend them and the book to other readers. I believe the book is now out of print so I felt fortunate to have obtained a copy. ... Read more

Product Description
Against the unforgettable backdrop of New York near the turn of the twentieth century, from the Gilded Age world of formal balls and opera to the immigrant poverty of the Lower East Side, bestselling author Susan Vreeland again breathes life into a work of art in this extraordinary novel, which brings a woman once lost in the shadows into vivid color.

It’s 1893, and at the Chicago World’s Fair, Louis Comfort Tiffany makes his debut with a luminous exhibition of innovative stained-glass windows, which he hopes will honor his family business and earn him a place on the international artistic stage. But behind the scenes in his New York studio is the freethinking Clara Driscoll, head of his women’s division. Publicly unrecognized by Tiffany, Clara conceives of and designs nearly all of the iconic leaded-glass lamps for which he is long remembered.

Clara struggles with her desire for artistic recognition and the seemingly insurmountable challenges that she faces as a professional woman, which ultimately force her to protest against the company she has worked so hard to cultivate. She also yearns for love and companionship, and is devoted in different ways to five men, including Tiffany, who enforces to a strict policy: he does not hire married women, and any who do marry while under his employ must resign immediately. Eventually, like many women, Clara must decide what makes her happiest—the professional world of her hands or the personal world of her heart. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a "Pattern" Book
This is not a "pattern" book perse... it is more of a guide book to make your own pattern if you want to use this book to create your own stain glass windows- you will have to take this to a place that will blow up the image for you. Also, you are going to have to guess the colors of many of the "patterns" as there is no color guide for many of the pictures in this book.16 color photos are provided and there are 60 pages of designs.Buyer beware and be conscious of your use intended for this book.*Note: I wanted to use this book for gallery glass products and create a window design on my own windows at home. But I had to get the images blown up to size needed to accomplish this.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jeff's Review
The pattern book has a color cover showing probable color
choices for 16 windows and black and white outlines to enlarge
for stained glass makers. There are 60 pages of patterns with no
commentary as to original sizes, craft tips nor art highlights.

5-0 out of 5 stars Some Reviews are Misleading
This book does contain Tiffany window designs which Tiffany created using Tiffany glass not modern glass. They reproduce very well when scanned. I use them in computer application of the designs. The book which has thepostcards is "Tiffany Stained Glass Windows" by Alastair Duncan(ISBN: 0486253368)which I also bought. This book does have some coloredimages and when combined with the Duncan Postcards you can produce somenice images. Fifteen or sixteen of the postcards are images that are alsoin this book. I would suggest buyers consider getting them both.

4-0 out of 5 stars great projects
If you are into doing windows in the style of Tiffany you need this book...lots of beautiful patterns which can be enlarged at your local copy center. There are color illustrations of many of the patterns which should help in selecting glass but, as usual, the actual glass selection is up toyou. It would be nice if all the glass used was specifically identified(mfgr., cat. no., amount needed, etc.), but hey, then we wouldn't have allthe fun (?) of agonizing over the selection.

2-0 out of 5 stars The colorized images are attractive.
There are 60 designs, with 16 color images on the front and back cover. The line drawings are difficult to determine the color of glass to use. ... Read more

Product Description
Showcasing selected works from The Museum of Modern Art's superlative architecture and design collection, Objects of Design features a wide variety of industrial and domestic artifacts by great designers of the modern period, from early masters such as Hector Guimard, Frank Lloyd Wright and Josef Hoffmann to contemporary practitioners including Droog Design, Ettore Sottsas, Gaetano Pesce, Hella Jongerius and others. Some of the objects represent turn-of-the-century designs of the Vienna Secession, Art Nouveau and the Arts and Crafts movement; others are Bauhaus and de Stijl explorations; still others show Charles and Ray Eames and other American designers of the second half of the 20th century; representations of the Italian design revolutions; and contemporary manifestations of familiar genres using radical new materials and techniques of manufacture. The book's 360 color plates not only reveal the range of aesthetic viewpoints in design since the late 19th century but together trace the historical development of the Museum's celebrated design collection. In the introductory essay, Paola Antonelli, Curator, Department of Architecture and Design at The Museum of Modern Art, explores the history of modern design as well as the story of the museum's collection and its influence on the history of modern and contemporary design itself.Featuring the Minox Riga Camera, Filterjet Fan, Lexikon 80 Manual Typewriter, TCV 250 Video Display Terminal, TX 8-301 Television, Pocket Radio Model No. T3, GA 45 Pop Automatic Record Player, Boemic 2000 Microphone, Telephone Model No. F78, GK 100 Jellyfish Watch, Macintosh SE Home Computer, Smart Car, Ericofon Telephone, Tulip Armchair, Anywhere Lamp, Wall Clock Model No. 32/0389, Cubo Ashtrays, P40 Armchair, Sof-sof Chair, Shanghai Folding Clothes Stand, Tonietta Chair, Figure of Eight Chair, Outboard Propeller, Outside Firm Joint Callipers, Evaporating Dish, Cookie Cutting Wheel, Measuring Spoon and Scale, Victorinox Swiss Officers' Knife Champion No. 5012 and many, many other objects of design.Edited by Paola Antonelli.~Texts by Tina di Carlo, Bevin Cline, Christian Larsen, Luisa Lorch, Matilda McQuaid, Christopher Mount, Peter Reed and Terence Riley.Hardcover, 9.5 x 10 in./288 pgs / 350 color 0 BW0 duotone 0 ~ Item D20155 ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Objects of Design from The Museum of Modern Art
MoMA canonized modern design as it did 20th-century art, and this anthology of pictures and expert texts highlights a collection of 3,708 objects that range in size from microchips to a helicopter. About a tenth of those are illustrated in nine thematic sections. Many are icons, but there are a few surprises, especially among recent acquisitions, where the inventive use of materials supplants functional beauty. Paola Antonelli, MoMA Curator of Architecture and Design, describes the collection as presenting a history of ideas and realizing a part of Alfred Barr's dream of a unity of the arts. She explains how the old selection criteria of truth and beauty have changed while retaining some of their old authority. It's comforting to know that relativism does not yet extend to firearms, making MoMA's collection a gun-free zone. (Michael Webb is the book reviewer for LA Architect magazine.) ... Read more

This lively examination of his life and work includes the dramatic story of Tiffany's rise and fall- a man convinced of his own genius - adventurous and talented enough to be unorthodox, feted and ignored and finally vindicated by time. 4-0 out of 5 stars A Splendid Review of Tiffany
I found this book to be very good in providing historical data about Louis Comfort Tiffany.Additionally it shows a great representation of his blown glass work. The elements that I found disappointing was the lack ofemphasis on his stained glass window work directly, although it doesprovide some vivid photos of some of his lamps. His window creations weresomewhat neglected here in this text, which was one of his passions if youdo further historical research into the man's history. All in all, however, this is a beautiful representation of Tiffany's expansive talentsthat anyone would enjoy. It also has some great biographical data abouthim that makes for an interesting study.A must read for any Tiffanyenthusiast. Not a book to be passed up by any means.

4-0 out of 5 stars The importance of iridescence
Yes, there are books with more inspired texts on LC Tiffany. What sets this volume apart is the emphasis on what Tiffany himself considered his most important accomplishment, his technical and stylistic innovations with the glass itself. This aspect is abundantly and inspiringly illustrated; you will certainly enjoy, amongst others, the Egyptian, lava, and floriform vases. The lighting really captures the sheen, texture and brilliance of Tiffany glass. This must be the most complete illustrated collection of Tiffany vases ever.Lampshades which have unusual designs are presented, and some handsome photographs of the rose and the magnolia patterns are noteworthy. ... 1-0 out of 5 stars the book that never was
I willrate this purchase zero, no stars in fact below zero. I never received the product. i was initially told that the product was shipped, then after waiting three weeks i was told please wait four more days>When the book failed to arrive I then e-mailed the vendor demanding to know where the book was. I did not get a response from the vendor. Then i was notified that the book was out of stock and that my acct would be credited. I appreciate the credit but what I do not appreciate is being lied to. How can a book be out of stock when the vendor informed me that it was shipped. I feel as if i was lied and that the dealer misrepresented his intentions.
I wanted the book and now I have waited since march 14th for naught. i believe that i should receive a free copy of the book given how the dealer lied to me.
