Excerpt: Terry Paxton Bradshaw (born September 2, 1948), also known by the nickname "Mr. Steel Arm", is a former American football quarterback with the Pittsburgh Steelers in the National Football League (NFL). He played 14 seasons. He is a football analyst and co-host of Fox NFL Sunday. In a six-year span, he won four Super Bowl titles with Pittsburgh (1974, 1975, 1978 and 1979), becoming the first quarterback to do so, and led the Steelers to eight AFC Central championships. He was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1989, his first year of eligibility. A tough competitor, Bradshaw had a powerful albeit at times erratic arm and called his own plays throughout his football career. His physical skills and on-the-field leadership played a major role in Pittsburgh Steelers history. During his career, he passed for more than 300 yards in a game only seven times, but three of those performances came in the post-season, and two of those in Super Bowls. In four career Super Bowl appearance...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=60089 ... Read more

Product Description

He's a man who knows the importance of hard work -- and he's living proof that it pays off.

TERRY BRADSHAW
IT'S ONLY A GAME

This is the absolutely guaranteed 100% mostly true story of the man who gained sports immortality as the first quarterback to win four Super Bowls -- and who became America's most popular sports broadcaster. As honest, unexpected, and downright hilarious as the man himself, It's Only a Game shows the many sides of Terry: the former pipeline worker, cattle-raiser, professional singer, youth minister, actor, television and radio talk-show host, and public speaker -- and replays all the hard-hitting, bone-crunching details from his heyday with the Pittsburgh Steelers.

More than a collection of his funniest stories, It's Only a Game is the personal account of Terry's search for the life before and after football...as only he could tell it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Funny!
I really enjoyed Terry Bradhsaw's book and it made me laugh a lot. There are several places when you are reading along and don't realize a joke is being told and then whammo, he has led you into a joke, or a bit of humor.Being able to pull off the surprise "gotcha" humor is actually a lot more sophisticated and talented than people give credit for.I also felt he was a very good story teller and told the reader not only about his triumphs, but also of his colossal failures, which makes him quite likable. One of my fav stories was the parasailing story, of course I also thought it was funny when he got dragged all over by a horse and then of course there was the getting thrown off the meanest bull in history. All funny stories!
I also was inspired by his struggles when he began his broadcasting career and how he went from awful to good.He didn't let his failures keep him down, he just kept going forward.I am currently starting his second book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great read!
This is a good book for sports fans. Not a lot of substance but very entertaining none the less.Get the audio version from your local library. He reads it himself and comes across as the good natured guy he does on TV.It made it even better.

5-0 out of 5 stars Surprisingly great book
I started this book with minimal expectations. I thought it would be another book on the life of a superstar athlete admittedly one who has won 4 Superbowls.

What I found to my surprise was the story of a very modest man who did not gloat about his accomplishments and actually was happy to make fun of himself and his supposedly lack of intellect.

Terry Bradshaw writes with humour and will discuss his many failures with the candor that is rare.

In the last few chapters, he gives some useful tips on life and I found that they came off pretty well.

Great book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Loved this book
I could hardly put this book down.Very interesting stories about his childhood, football career from grade school through the pros and life after the NFL.All the things that went on during his career in the NFL.I found this book very enjoyable. He doesn't hide anything and I admire his honesty.

4-0 out of 5 stars Laughed Out Loud
This is one of the funniest autobiographies I have ever read.Several times during the course of my reading, my wife feared for my sanity as I laughed hysterically. Two incidents in particular had me howling:Terry's adventure with the horse, and when his Dad opened the box from the marketing firm.
Terry has always been one of my football heros and now I have a great deal of respect for him as a person. This account is warm, funny, and honest.By the way, he called his own plays . . . ... Read more

Product Description
Fans raved about the no-nonsense honesty and hilarious humor of Terry Bradshaw's New York Times bestselling memoir, It's Only a Game. Now, in Keep It Simple, the four-time Super Bowl winner, Football Hall of Famer, two-time Emmy-winning Fox NFL Sunday co-host, and popular inspirational speaker shares his thoughts on how to tackle life's most complicated problems.

You may not know it from Terry's many accomplishments -- his television commercials; his awards for sportsmanship, broadcasting, and public speaking; or his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame -- but behind the warm smile and easy, down-home demeanor is a man who has lived and learned not just through his triumphs but mostly through his struggles.

Whether he's talking about recognizing and treating his attention deficit disorder, coping with his three failed marriages, accepting his fate as the benchwarmer everyone loved to hate during his early years with the Pittsburgh Steelers, or forgiving himself for spending $7,000 on those two ostrich eggs in a get-rich-quick scheme, in Keep It Simple Terry does it with the humor and honesty that has made him one of the most beloved personalities in sports history.

In chapters covering topics such as financial matters, surviving love, the value of teamwork, and overcoming adversity, Terry makes no attempt to become the next self-help guru. He offers the simple lessons he's learned through his faith, his family, and his friends.

"We are all searching for the same thing: a hand to hold and heart to understand," he says. "Keep it simple. Smile a lot. Be nice to other people....Life is a joy." ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars great book!
I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, lots of laughs and an easy read!I highly recommend it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent
I thought Keep It Simple was excellent.I like the way that Terry Bradshaw seems not to take himself seriously. He appears to be very involved with his daughters. That is really to his credit since a lot of fathers tend to not be involved in their children's lives after a divorce.I wish the best for Terry in the future.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Service
Book was exactly as info stated. Excellent condition. Impressed with fast service (especially noting it was the busy Christmas season). Have not read book yet, but glancing thru, I know I will be pleased.

4-0 out of 5 stars FUNNY, FUNNY, FUNNY
I checked this book out from the local library on a lark and thoroughly enjoyed it.I am not a huge football fan or a Terry Bradshaw fan, but I laughed a lot while reading this book. A friend of mine told me his doctor recommended it for stress relief (laughter as medicine) and I can understand why. If you like football even a little bit, or Terry Bradshaw just a little bit, you should enjoy reading this.

5-0 out of 5 stars KEEP IT SIMPLE

3-0 out of 5 stars A Nice Read
If you are looking for lots of inside dirt on the Steelers Super Bowl teams of the 1970s, this isn't the book. Terry Bradshaw devotes more of the book to his life off the field than on the field in this book, although that is not really a bad thing. Bradshaw is an interesting individual and a committed Christian, a subject that is covered thoroughly in the book. At the time of the book was written, the Steelers had won three of their four Super Bowls. There is also commentary from people like Chuck Knoll, Terry's college coaches, his parents, former wife Jo Jo Starbuck, etc. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A Good Read
This was a pretty good book, depending on how you like your sports book. This is not a chapter-by-chapter review of Terry Bradshaw's career, although he does include brief sections on each Super Bowl. The former star quarterback does give his insights on many issues, however, such as his rocky relationship with Coach Chuck Knoll and his friendship with Art Rooney Sr. There is a lot of good information on the Steelers of the '70s and every fan of those teams should enjoy this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars I thought it was good.
