I bought this for my 4 kids age range from 1-8, It didnt keep their interest for long. No real story line, Characters are really basic. If your not a diehard fan of the manning famliy I would have to say pass.

For Serious Manning Fans Only
Threadbare plot consists of the sons running different football plays in various locations and visiting grandparents. No character details at all. Illustrations are the most appealing part of this picture book. If you took the famous names out of this story, you'd be left with nothing.

Great book for little sports nuts
My 6 year old is a huge football fan and a big Manning fan. What he loved most about this book was the football plays illustrated on the inside covers of the book. He's always asking to run the "buttonbook" or the "hook and ladder" plays. The story teaches the importance of family around the love of football. Perfect for the little football nut.

great book
I bought this for my granddaughters, both Colts fans, and they are thrilled with the book.As a grandparent, I am pleased with the message this sends to children and even more pleased that the Mannings take the time to do such positive things for children and for the communities they live in.

I bought this book for my 7 year old grandson who loves sports. I thought it would be a good way to encourage him to read for pleasure. Southern gentleman and philanthropist
I got this book to understand how Peyton Manning arrived to where he is today. I was amazed and in awe of him when I found his website and discovered the PeyBack Foundation and what the project funds. When I am able to do so, I will do anything I can to assist him in this worthy cause. This book merely cements the feeling I've had about him for so long.... that he is a Southern gentleman at heart and is totally caring for children everywhere. This, of course, does not negate the fact that he is perhaps the best quarterback in the present and ever to come. I hope he will continue to show us his prowess on the football field and, with any luck, win his second Super Bowl ring in Super Bowl XLIV!! Good luck Peyton!

Very little substance
This book was not well written and was basically the author praising Peyton in a cringe-worthy fashion.There wasn't any substantive and the book ends with Peyton getting drafted by the Colts.If you're interested in learning about Peyton, get the book he and his father helped write (there's more stuff about his childhood, family relationships, etc.).

Good Info, Terrible Prose
Hyams has done his homework with this project. He accumulated material from a wealth of contributors including personalities from Newman High School as well as the University of Tennessee.
However, one can tell, after reading the first chapter, this is Hyams, formerly asst. sports editor of the Knoxville News-Sentinel,first foray into penning a novel length book. The content reads like an extended feature story one would find in the local newspaper's sports section.
Specifically, the content is choppy and dry. There is no flow, and it is difficult to remain engaged.

If I were to assign a grade to this work, I would give it a D+

I liked it
Hyams does a good job here.I recommend it and "A Tailgater's Guide To SEC Football" for any die-hard SEC fans.

Good reading for the college football fan
If you our a Peyton Manning, UT Football or just College Football fan you will like this book.It talks about the recruiting process and what it took to get Peyton to Knoxville and what it took for him to stay.

I have always been a huge fan of Peyton Manning and wanted to read about him in a mid sized novel.
