Great story for both baseball and Nellie Fox fans
Even if you are not a Baseball fan, this is a great human intrest story, of a real sounding person and his troubles growing up. If you are a baseball fan or a fan of the late great Nellie Fox it is an absolute most

It should be made into a movie
Just when you think no one can do anything more with how baseball captures the American mind and imagination, you come across a book like this.It's a fun read, light enough that you don't realize you have become caught upin something serious.As I laughed I kept wanting to e-mail Kevin Costner. This book would make a great movie.It's got all the right stuff: an overthe hill hero, a rotten kid, a dog, nostalgia.Those of you who grew up inChicago will love the local color.

Funny, touching, a real treat to read.

The Fox trot
Nellie Fox was one of my favorite baseball players during the 1950s and I agree that he should have been in the Hall of Fame long before he was inducted...The writers however make him out to be a saint and spent too much time in the book talking about how he had been wronged by not being placed in the Hall sooner..The writers even speculate and point fingers towardshis ex-manager Al Lopez as being the culprit fordelaying his induction. I guess it shows that it is always better for a professional writer to write the book, instead of old family friends....I found the book interesting only because I was a Nellie Fox fan, however I think a professional writer instead of a fan could have done a better job.I would just recommend this book to true Nellie Fox fans, because it is far from being a classic baseball story...Larry Carli ...
