Jeter fans....
fabulous book - great info, amazing photos.the only problem?I have to share it with my son, as i gave it as a gift to him.Jeter is spectacular, and this book is a must have for any true fan.

The Life of a Shortstop
I recommend this book because it tells what Derek Jeter, of the Yankees, does at home. He is a very ordinary person. He drives himself around, and does his own laundry. " I am a couch potato." This is the very thing I never hear a famous person say. " I always put time in for fans." He gives his signature to anyone he can. Derek Jeter is a very responsible person.

Excellent Photos
This book has excellent large photos (the ones from Sports Illustrated are spectacular). It is a little thin on details, but it is catering as a photo book, so no disappointments there. Even the text that is provided is unique, educational and entertaining. Great as a gift for Jeter or Yankees fans and something to leave laying around for guests to read.

Great Derek Jeter Book!
This book was excellent! It gives you a great inside look on Derek Jeter's gameday preperation. The quality of the pictures were excellent. He is a great role model. I hope he writes many more!

My son is a bonified Yankee fan for years.I ordered this book for him.Upon receiving it, I found it only to be a PICTURE BOOK, with hardly any writing involved.To make matters worse, it was expensive, especially for what I bought! I'm not even going to give it to him--I'm too ashamed!If I saw this in a book store and had the opportunity to look through it, I would have never bought--and I'm sure that he would not have either! ... Changing my mind
I'm a new Derek fan, and i was impressed about his look. I bought this book to know more about him. After reading it, i admire him. Really. I felt guilty by treated him like an object, when he is a great person.

Derek Jeter was born in New Jersey and grew up in Michigan. Spending summers with his grandparents back in New Jersey, he became a Yankees fan.
I think the author achieved what he wanted to point out. That was, to tell his life store. It was an excellent book. It was so great I wanted to read it one more time. I recommend this book to people how play any sports.

Derek Jeter Is Awsome! He Is The Best Legend Ever!
This book is great because it shows how great a player Jeter is. I am his biggest fan and I love him just a little more after reading that. He is what we call a "team player" and I really respect him. I think that he will stay a hero for ages and I hope he doesn't retire for a loooooooonnnnnnngggggg time! This book tells about all the great things he does, facts and info about him, and more! Read it if you get a chance and meet the one, the only, DEEREEEKKKK JEEEEETTTERR!

Don't Bother
It was absolutely painful to get through this book.

I realize it was an unauthorized biography, but I really didn't need to spend money to read interviews with Derek's 4th grade teacher, snippets of Joe Torre's memoirs, or recaps of what other writers that Derek actually spoke to had to say.

The author seemed to know he didn't have enough material for a book so he just took up space, wasting tons of pages talking about (and repeating) utter nonsense, or things that had nothing whatsoever to do with Derek Jeter, the person.

Though it's meant more as a motivational book for kids, I thought "The Life You Imagine" provided much more information, which actually came from Derek himself. I'd buy that one if you're interested in learning about Derek Jeter.

Leave it to twin brothers
The Gyles twins are very good at writing on Derk Jetter. I look forward to their upcoming biography on Boogaloo Shrimp, the famous midget from the Harmonicats.

For "Teenie-Boppers" not adults
The first 6 chapters are ok....but the information is very repetitive...from chpt 7 on is for hormonal little girls.The book does chronicle Derek's life but the author could not find enough material tofill the book...it repeats throught the book, a teenage girl would lovethis book, a person who is a baseball fan will find this painfull, a Jeterfan can get through it.Derek Jeter: A Yankee for the New Millennium is amuch better book for baseball fans over the age of 17.

Old Gills Has really out done himself
I think Mr. Gills is a master craftman who deserve another chance. He has only written this one measly little book, but I believe he's got a bright future ahead.
