Excerpt: Selected by Boston Celtics Daniel Ray "Danny" Ainge (born March 17, 1959 in Eugene, Oregon) is an American retired professional basketball and baseball player who is currently the President of Basketball Operations for the Boston Celtics of the NBA. He played in the NBA for the Celtics, Sacramento Kings, Portland Trail Blazers, and Phoenix Suns, and also in Major League Baseball for the Toronto Blue Jays. They have made 24 appearances in the NCAA Tournament, with the most recent coming in 2010. In addition, the Cougars have won the National Invitation Tournament twice, including 1951, when the NIT was considered equal or better than the NCAA, and the Cougars were dubbed 'National Champions' by the national media.
