4-0 out of 5 stars The Kid
1. About Kobe Bryant and his life as a teenager in a man's game.
and how he was cocky and always embarrassed people with thekilla crossovers. His rookie year was only bad because he was a target.
2.This book made my feel like not wanting to embarrass people on the court or take scrubs pride.
3.This had irony because when you watchthe games players seem to be nice to each other and they like each other.Almost everyone who didn't play on his team didn't like him.
4.Every person who likes superstars in the NBA should read this book about one of the best superstars in the NBA.

Shining Star

On the court with Kobe Bryant by: Matt Christopher. Its s a young star named Kobe Bryant, that lived in Los Angeles CA. He lived with is father Joe (Jellybean) Bryant. They both loved basketball, Joe played in the NBA and played for the Knicks. Joe taught Kobe a lot of it. When Kobe went to High School, he played basketball too. He went to Lower Marion High. He had good grades all year round, that's why he got drafted out of high school for the NBA. Kobe was drafted in 1997 to the Phoenix Suns and the LA. Lakers traded a 1-2 draft picks for him. In 1997 he won rookie of the year award in 1999 he won the slam dunk contest. 2000-2003 they won the finals in a row. They have the most finals won in the entire NBA.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great book!
On the Court with Kobe Bryant is definetly the best book I have ever read. It gives a complete biography about Kobe`s whole life. It also includes many picture pages of Kobe inside. You should buy this book and you will be happy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Bio of Kobe Bryant
Kobe Bryant maybe one of the youngest basketball players in the NBA. He is the son of Joe"Jeallybean" Bryant, a basketball player and star of various European teams. Kobe's childhood watching professional basketball games made him pick up a basketball for the first time. He was learning how to shoot and dribble. His basketball education was a unique combination of lessons on basic fundamentals, one-on-one game against his dad, and keen observation and analysis of the world's best players. Kobe learned his lesson well, and at age 18 he was given the chance to prove it. He was drafted into the NBA when he was fresh out of high school. Kobe showed that he had the talent and the heart to make it in the pros. From one out of five, I rate this book a five because it made me want to play basketball.

Product Description
Now in paperback . . . an insider look at the NBA phenom, including the Lakers' 1999-2000 championship season

When Kobe Bryant joined the glitzy Los Angeles Lakers in 1996 right out of high school, he faced a wave of media hype that declared him the next Michael Jordan. Now a veteran of five NBA seasons at the age of 23, Bryant has earned a place among pro basketball's elite. Mad Game documents his hard lessons on the road to stardom, his rapid rise through the NBA, and his conflicts with--and, at times, alienation from--his teammates, including his on-and-off-again relationship with Shaquille O'Neal. This is a story of triumph, of an unusually gifted young athlete trying to remain true to himself and his game. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Mad Game, now Mad NBA CHAMPION!
I read the book a little while back, and I thought it was a great read on the most electrifying basketball player today. At that time, Kobe was going through a lot of growing pains, a lot of failures, crticisms, badchemistry with teammates. And now, this season, I've seen Kobe'smaturation and improvement in the league, playing more under control, playing in Phil Jackson's triangle offense, having better rapport with Shaqand his teammates. His incredible performance in Game 4 of the NBA Finalsin overtime was unforgettable and it is only the beginning. Now he isfinally an NBA champion with the Lakers, and hopefully, this will be thebeginning of another great Laker dynasty, the first of the 21st century!

2-0 out of 5 stars Bias!Writer is out to try to ruin Kobe!
This book is one of the most unbelievably biased things I've ever read. The writer seemed jealous of Kobe and his lifestyle, and therefore made him out to be this total creep (and a rapist, obviously.)While public opinion seems to be on the side of "Not guilty", this book goes as far as to give a detailed account of the rape scene, explaining how Kobe made her bend over (a chair), things he said to her, things that I thought were totally fabricated. Also, the girl is made out to be this sweet, innocent, poor thing just trying to make her way in the world.
This is a book designed to organize lynch mobs, and revive the old KKK.Seriously guys?I thought we were past that.

5-0 out of 5 stars RAD!!!!
Shapiro is a genius, and while some say that he roots like a pig through the rotten garbage of his mediocre mind, I would tend to disagree. This book has changed my life exponentially in that it is useful as a study on Memory and Creation, and more specifically, how we create our own memories.I would be surprised if it is not already a text at many of our better universities. It is easy to see how, when one stops to think about it, memory is just a sleight of hand on behalf of the brain and really, Shapiro's writing is brilliant in the way its scent is that of genocide and fear.

Shapiro brazenly links this victorious essay to the world of professional farm animal raising, which he also ties to the sport of basketball, in a manner so subtle that one is floored by the sheer fluidity of his prose and exposition. The flaw here is Shapiro's lack of proper reference and footnotes, and also the compelling nature of this piece. It could easily be mistaken for self help literature in its encouragement to misremember every detail of one's life. And is this such a terrible thing?

The chapter on Nature of Probabilities and Classical and Quantum Statistics was helpful to determine the probability of Kobe's memory being as solid as Egyptian gruel on any given day, but the integrals were actually rather difficult. Also, as this information was presented with the topic of Memory and Creation, the reader is left with homework.Buy a legal pad and pencils to read this book. Our assumptions and reasoning re memory, coupled with Shapiro's eloquent and beautiful ruminations on the disturbance caused to the inner ear by elevator hydraulics and on the proper way to objectively judge figure skating prove to be a topic worthy of the ages.Saucy.

4-0 out of 5 stars Injustice in Colorado
The book describes a miscarriage of justice in a small town in Colorado. It's amazing to read the story by Shapiro and Stevens about what happened and learn how our legal system is impotent in protecting those that need it most. Also, how some of the public cannot conceive that their heroes may have feet of clay.I was very disappointed to read about the shenanigans of the female defense attorney toward the victim.A sad story that should have ended differently.

1-0 out of 5 stars I hope someone else will write a book about this.
I just finished reading this book, and it was not that great.A lot of the facts about the case are there, but there is way too much storytelling. Some parts of the book sound like a fiction novel geared towards 7th graders.I do not like the way the authors tell some of the stories of things that happened. The authors could have been more unbiased, especially when giving facts about the accuser.I felt that a lot of the time they were kind of assuming things about her and how she was thinking. The ending of the book is also horrible, and it is too open ended and fails to really tie into the rest of the book. The last chapter is kind of awkwardly placed at the end, maybe because there was no where else for it to go.... perhaps they need to add on to the book now that more has happened.

Oh, and they misspell Red Auerbach's name in the book, I'm surprised no one caught that before it went out.

Overall if you really want to read this, it gives a little insight, but it is not worth your time.If you followed this case in the press and read articles, you probably already know most of the stuff covered in this book and it is not worth it.If you did not follow this case at all and just want something to read that will give you the basic story, then it may be worth it for you.

5-0 out of 5 stars Well Written
This is a very well written book of what happened in the Kobe case last year. Its incredible the case never went to trial after everything that happened. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars KOBE BRYANT
Chabon's narratives can sometimes go endlessly rambling along to the poient where meaning is completely lost! For instance on page 63 you will find a sentence with 124 words! (Yes, I counted). I also found the ending of the bood to be a bit abrupt, and I was left with alot of questions. What I did like the photo on the book, it was quite cool. And you should of put alot more stuff about his family and life.

I really enjoyed this book - it is what I thought it would be.Arrived on time and as advertised.

4-0 out of 5 stars Kobe Bryant
This book talks about Kobe's early life and his early career in the NBA. The author gives a taste of his early career struggles and his success too. Very easy read and highly recommend for someone that wants to know little something about Kobe Bryant.

1-0 out of 5 stars kobe is a baby
i don't care if you like this review or not, but kobe should realize now what he had w/ shaq: the best player in the game, and now that it's his team they are not even going to make the playoffs- and kobe cares too much what the media says about him- blaming everyone else and telling on shaq and his "hush money" and karl malone "harassing" his wife-shut up kobe and just play your selfish game

5-0 out of 5 stars Kobe the story of NBA's young...

5-0 out of 5 stars Love Basketball
"The Story of the NBA's Rising Young Star Kobe Bryant" great for Lakers' fans. If you like basketball you will like this nonfiction book. Joseph Layden .I thought that the book was very easy to read and young children could read it by themselves. In my mind he is the best player ever. It the best book I ever read. I like the book, because I like to play basketball too.
In the beginning of the book it talks about his father and mother how they met each other. The book talked a bit about his family and also where he attend at school. I like the book, because you can image in your mind what it is talking about, and you can learn a little bit of vocabulary.
The setting of the book is in Philadelphia and also in Los Angeles. The author wrote the book very well, because it gives a lot of important information, it the best book I ever read. I like the book, because I like to play basketball too. I want to read more byJoseph Laden.
