Dennis Keith Rodman (born May 13, 1961) is an American retired professional basketball player of the National Basketball Association's (NBA) Detroit Pistons, San Antonio Spurs, Chicago Bulls, Los Angeles Lakers and Dallas Mavericks. Born in Trenton, New Jersey, he was nicknamed "Dennis the Menace" and "The Worm" and was known for his fierce defensive and rebounding abilities. Playing small forward in his early years before becoming a power forward, Rodman earned NBA All-Defensive First Team honors seven times and was voted NBA Defensive Player of the Year twice. He also led the NBA in rebounds per game for a record seven consecutive years and won five NBA championships (1989, 1990, 1996, 1997, 1998). Experiencing an unhappy childhood, Rodman was shy and introverted in his early years. After aborting a suicide attempt in 1993, he reinvented himself as the prototypical "bad boy" and became notorious for numerous controversial antics. He dyed his hair in artificial colors, presented himself with many piercings and tattoos and regularly disrupted games by clashing with opposing players and officials. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A great insite to the "Worms" amazing life
I opened the cover of the book in hope of a good read. Now, I am not really your general type of book reading person. But I could not put the book down. Some of Rodmans quotes throughout the book are excellent. Thebook ismind blowing read that does not stop until you reach the backcover. I can't wait until I can get hold of the next title "As Bad AsI Wanna Be"

5-0 out of 5 stars This book was soooo good!
Dennis Rodman's Walk on the Wild Side is such a good book to read. While his first book was the all about him growing up and making it to the NBA, Walk On the Wild Side is his life after making it to the NBA and all thecrazy things he's done and been through. A DEFINITE must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Fanstastic!
IT WILL ROCK YA! FROM HIS SEXUALITY TO HIS CARREER YOU GET TO KNOW WHYDENNIS DOES WHAT HE DOES! ALL I CAN SAY IS READ IT!!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Just as awesome as the first one!!!!
Walk on the Wild Side is just as awesome as the first book. When you finish it, you feel as if you'd been inside Dennis Rodman's soul. I love it because it's cool and it's much sexier than Bad As I Wanna Be!!!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Better than Bad As I Wanna Be!
I am a Rodman fan but I found that his first book was very brash and not too informative. His second book is far more interesting and provides an insight into why Rodman does what he does.He explains why he hangs out in "off beat" locales and gives an insight into his life in the NBA.I think the most intesting point in his book is his relationship with his young daughter which seems to be very strong. Is Rodman really a softie at heart? ... Product Description
Since I was a kid, I had always prided myself on my discipline in the things that really mattered—in the weight room, on the court (forget the refs), defense, rebounding, in how I play the game. Off court was my business; but suddenly things had changed.

After the motorcycle accident, my agent, Darren Prince, was so worried about my partying that he called in the cavalry, my former bodyguard, Wendell "Big Will" Williams—a six-foot-four-inch, 400-pound black man to whom people, including Dennis Rodman, tend to listen. Wendell was coming out of bodyguard retirement to make sure I did what I was supposed to do when I was supposed to do it. He started out strong at the Radio Music Awards in Las Vegas. It was exactly a week after the Treasures motorcycle crash. Despite my usual protests—"I don’t want to do this. This is bull. It’s not gonna help my career"—that afternoon Wendell managed to get me, sober no less, to this series of round-robin interviews with every radio station in America.

This went on for hours before the actual awards show that night, and Wendell wouldn’t let me drink. Afterwards, it was like I’d just run a marathon, and I went out by the pool to relax with a cool one while he went upstairs to shower. When Wendell got back down, I was wasted. This was all new to him. In the three years since he’d worked with me, I’d started spending much more time with my friend, Herr Jägermeister, and this was his first time to see Dennis Rodman, Daytime Drunk.

Darren was on my ass. Wendell was on my ass. My best friend, Thaer, was on my ass. Even my wife, Michelle, was on my ass. Anyway, after the motorcycle accident and my skid-row-drunk performance at the Radio Music Awards, ESPN sat down Michelle for an interview.

"IÂ’m done. IÂ’m ready for a divorce," she told the interviewer.

This from a woman who has "Mrs. Rodman" tattooed just above her butt in letters about an inch high.

By the end of October 2003, I was royally screwed. My wife and family were gone; Darren, Wendell, and Thaer had one foot out the door; and my NBA dream was over. Hell, even the "Dennis Rodman" entertainment franchise was in danger.

Reality Check: After almost a decade of steady partying, I wasn’t having the party—the party was having me and having me good.

Shortly after the accident, I found myself sitting there, taking a look across the room at what was left of Dennis Rodman, and I was left wondering: "How exactly did this happen? How did I get here? Is there any way out?"

Whether it was helping Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls win three-straight NBA titles in the 1990s or showing up to a book signing in a dress (and full make-up), Dennis Rodman has always distinguished himself as one of the great and most polarizing personalities in the sports world. The controversial and flamboyant former basketball star, who has played with the Long Beach Jam of the ABA in hopes of getting another shot at the National Basketball Association, is back in the national spotlight once again with I Should Be Dead By Now.

The new book from the two-time best-selling author details RodmanÂ’s struggles in life since he stopped playing in the NBA, including the breakup of his marriage to movie and TV star Carmen Electra and his problems with alcohol. I Should Be Dead By Now is a look at the life of one of AmericaÂ’s most recognizable sports stars since the lights of professional basketball stopped shining as brightly, and how Dennis Rodman hopes to make a successful return to the game that made him famous. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Completes the series
Timeline of the rise and fall of one of NBA's greatest. The moral of the story is the dangers of fame-- this completes the tale of one exceedingly dramatic rise and fall from way too high.
Reality Check: fame sucks.
In other news: language easily accessible, a quick, enjoyable easy read.Book in decent condition after library life.

3-0 out of 5 stars I Should Be Dead by Now

What a waste of life!I hope he can overcome his demons!

5-0 out of 5 stars Reveals more than I think he intended
This is not a book that will fill you with great amounts of unknown knowledge, nor will it require heavy thinking on your part to understand. What you will get out of it is a great deal of amusement. Here are dozens of short, kind of random thoughts, little stories and anecdotes by Dennis Rodman. In summary it is kind of a way to look at his philosophy of life.

It's a life that a lot of us would like to live in a vicarious way, I say vicarious because it appears to be a life that I don't think I could handle. In between the stories of what happened, there's a bit of insight into the way the man thinks. He's lived the life that he says he wanted, yet the desparate urge to get back to the NBA comes through. Born in May of 1961, he's now approaching 45 years old. He has to know that there aren't many players in the NBA that are that old. It will be interested to see what he does in future years.

I found the book a mix of sad, funny, and poignant. All you can say is 'good luck.'

1-0 out of 5 stars He IS dead.
This clown said all he could say with his first book, back when it mattered, to some people, because winning basketball teams matter, to some people.
Note that it wasn't published by one of the big fat publishers. They don't expect it to sell. So don't be one of the few fools who buy it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Neither here or there :-l
This is a fairly interesting-ish book about one of the best players to have played the sport. However, I wonder why he wrote another book?Surely he doesn't need the money (unless it all went to alcohol). It's interesting to get inside his mind a little and see what he's all about, but it is all jumbled and mismatched and leads nowhere.I like him, but if I had read this first before buying, maybe I wouldn't have bought it.Only for true Rodman fans.Otherwise, skip it. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Book That Changed my Life
This book taught me to be who I wanted to be... two words... "Simply amazing"

4-0 out of 5 stars Dennis Rodman's statement of "you can put it somewhere" to the world that criticizes him
In my opinion, in his prime, Dennis Rodman was a better athlete than Michael Jordan in his prime. The event that convinced me of this was a playoff game many years ago when the Bulls were playing a team where Shaquille O'Neal was the opposing center. Luc Longley, the starting Bulls center was in foul trouble and on the bench. The backup Bulls center was getting completely overwhelmed by O'Neal and the Bulls went to Rodman in an attempt to stop him. Rodman is 6'7" and around 240 pounds and O'Neal is 7'1" and well over 300 pounds. And yet, the first time that O'Neal tried to bull Rodman out of the way, he just came to a halt and this was repeated. It amazed me that this relatively little man could so forcefully stand up to the most powerful man in the NBA.
Dennis Rodman was a difficult person, yet he was very well liked, even admired by many people. He was outrageous, at times unstable, flippant, yet there is something very endearing about his approach to life. Much of what I admired about him on the court is that he was a very unselfish player who took an absolute beating in his battles for rebounds. He was also a very smart player, when his fellow players gave an honest appraisal; they were generally universal in extolling his depth of understanding of the game of basketball.
This book continues that Rodman tradition, standing up for himself, making no excuses and not having a great deal of concern over what people think of him. He often uses segments of bolded text to make his points, as if we need to be shouted at in order to understand his statements. At times the book is disjointed, Rodman moves from point to point in a sequence of inconsistent phrases where it is often difficult to understand the connections between the statements.
A rebel to the core, this book is Dennis Rodman's statement of "you can put it somewhere" to the world that criticizes him. It is entertaining to read, a glimpse into the mind of a man whose basketball and general intelligence is under appreciated due to his desire to stand out as a wild man with an attitude. If he had been born 100 years earlier, he, by his own admission, would have likely been lynched.

2-0 out of 5 stars Shows why being a celebrity is not a great profession....
I lived in Chicago during the Bulls heyday during the 2nd run of their championships, and everyone I knew had this book, or knew someone who did.I didn't have a copy, but I read it during a break, and found it to be very tiresome and really boring.Even though it's not meant to be Tolstoy, Dickens, or even a dime novel, it's really a waste of time. The book now is completely dated, and Rodman is just a nobody again. All I remember from the book was a rant against David Robinson which started, in typical 90's fashion, "the problem with David Robinson is...".Rodman went off on how Robinson didn't have what it takes to win an NBA championship (Rodman was wrong.Robinson did eventually win a few).Rodman was one of the greatest rebounders of all time, but that's really the only thing he was ever good at.He was your typical celebrity.Obnoxious, rude, outrageous, "outspoken", filled with drugs, marrying stupid women (Carmen Electra in his case), and generally moronic behaviour. The media loved people like that in the 1990's.Rodman just loved to party and behave like an idiot. In other words, typical celebrity behaviour. He did a few bad movies, wrestled in WCW (now defunct), and went on Fear Factor, but he was never a great actor, star, or writer.Just a good athlete that like being a celebrity (hence all the ridiculous clothes, dye jobs, tattoos, etc., etc.).

5-0 out of 5 stars just a great life!

Product Description
An Autobiography rarely attains objectivity, nor tells the whole story. Dan Bickley does this with this razor-sharp biography. No Bull chronicles the life of America's Bad Boy--from the time his mother fled a broken marriage to Dallas with Dennis and his two sisters, to his early arrest for theft, to his emergence as a star at Southeastern Oklahoma State. Readers see Dennis Rodman on and off the court, and the reader can be sure no punches are pulled. Plus eight pages of color photos.Amazon.com Review
It would probably take something the size of theEncyclopedia Britannica to fully explain the persona, thepersonality, and the phenomenon of NBA bad boy Dennis Rodman, but DanBickley, a staff writer for the Chicago Sun-Times, at leastgets a fast break on the explanation in No Bull: The UnauthorizedBiography of Dennis Rodman. The Rodman that emerges from Bickley'ssearch is intriguing, less a colorful clown of the court than acomplex antihero who--from broken-home childhood to Madonna worshipto photographer-kicking, wedding-dress-wearing rebounderextraordinaire--has lived his life above the rim and consistentlymarched to the sound of a drummer so different that no one else couldeven hear the beat. "I'm not a role model," Rodman readilyadmits, "I'm a figment of your imagination." In NoBull, that figment is fleshed out with some solid,three-dimensional reportage, interpretation, and analysis. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent source on the "Bad Boy"
This book was awesome. I have read just about all of the sports books out there and I liked the way this one got right down to the basics of Dennis, his life, his childhood, and how he became what he is today. It laid outfor me how all the events in his life lead to his present self.Furthermore, the author doesn't attempt to over-analyze Dennis on his own,but rather gives you all the info to let you form your own opinion. 5-0 out of 5 stars Reads like fiction...
I have read many basketball books and this one has to be my favourite. It tells the story of Dennis Rodman's bizarre and remarkable journey to the NBA. Rodman's story is entertaining and inspiring; and the book shows a different side to the NBA's "Bad Boy". Definitely worth a read if you are interested in a story of overcoming adversity and achieving your goals, while learning along the way. Help and inspiration can come in the most unusual of people and places.

5-0 out of 5 stars A interesting life story from strange to stranger
Rebound by Dennis Rodman, Pat Rich and Alan Steinberg was a very entertaining and strange. It is about the true-life story of the greatest rebounder ever. It shows ho Dennis' childhhod story. How Dennis went from asuper scrub working as a jinitor for crumbs at an airport. To playing inthe NBA and making millions of dollars.

It was a very interestingbook and for me to say it, it has to be good because I don't like readingbooksand I felt this book stimulating.

I would recomend this bookbecause it is definitely, funny and strange. I would give this story threeout of five stars. It's not perfect or the best litterature in the world. If you likie true life stories you will like this one. You will see howDennis became so strenge and how he has became the man he is today. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Rodman Doll does not live up to the Real Thing
I hate the Bulls, but I LOVE Rodman. He cracks me up. I think he's sexy and funny and wild. The more outraged people are by his antics, the further he goes. So when I saw this, I thought, 'Yay!'.

The main thing I don't like about it is that the doll does not seem to be based on Rodman's body. It is an air brushed body that doesn't show you Rodman's muscles, etc. The basic concept is pretty cool, and the outfits are funny. I don't regret getting it, I just didn't enjoy it as much as I thought I would. I'm not going to cut it up though, that would ruin it.

If you're a Rodman fan, go ahead and get it because it doesn't seem really mean spirited to me. If you dispise him, get it too, then you can cut it out and have all sorts of satirical fun with it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Dennis rodman
My book review is on a retired Basketball player named Dennis Rodman. The Author of this book is Stew thornley. Dennis rodman played in the first NBA team Spurs. He played for Spurs for about 2 years then he moved to Chicago Bulls, and played on that team for 3 years. After his Coach switched to be a different coach for another team, he desided to do something with his life which I don't want to say, because I can Ruin the book. The reason I rate this a 4 star book is because It's a good book and It tells Kids and young adults and adults who want to be a basketball player what to do or how to do it.

1-0 out of 5 stars Truly awful
Let me start by saying that I am not a Dennis Rodman fan. I can now say that I think he and the author were a perfect match. For about the first 2 chapters I felt some empathy for Ms Rodman, however, as I read further I discovered that she was an immature, self centered, physically abusive woman. She constantly trashes the other women in Dennis's life, while behaving the same way. By the end of the book I had lost all sympathy for her, and gained a true sense of pity for the child that she and Dennis have. It is a shame that trees were cut down to print this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars What people do for money, could just break my heart
America is truly the land of capitalism and opportunity. This chick has a baby by a known lunatic who abuses her, then writes a tell all story full of smut and filth, and then she has the audacity to expect us to feel sorryfor her.Sorry!!!! I had a hard time seeing her as the victim, that coveris pure filth and ought to be burned. If my mother had the audacity topose like that in a tell all smut fest like that I'd have a seriouscomplex. No wonder Dennis dies his hair and cross dresses, with hisdysfunctional upbringing and her as a wife and mother of his child I'd be awacko too!!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars AWESOME!!!!!
this is a book that will keep you reading. I read it in a day.. and also read it again and again.. It's like a soap opera in a way, it makes you laugh, angry, sad, etc. It also makes you look at basketball (and sports in general) differently. I am a Dennis Rodman fan; but after reading this book, I'm more of a Anicka Rodman fan!!!!

2-0 out of 5 stars Degreating
I did feel for Rodman in the starting but as the book progressed it became more and more into that same old rodman who in this book still boggles the mind to think what he doe ... Read more
