Excerpt: Robert Keith Horry (pronounced ; born August 25, 1970) is a retired American basketball player. He played 16 seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA), winning seven championships. He is one of only two players to have won NBA championships with three different teams: two with the Houston Rockets, three with the Los Angeles Lakers and two with the San Antonio Spurs. Because of his clutch shooting in important games, he has earned the nickname "Big Shot Rob". Horry now works as a commentator on ESPN. Born in Harford County, Maryland, Horry grew up in Andalusia, Alabama. As a senior at Andalusia High School, he won the Naismith Alabama High School Player of the Year award. He attended the University of Alabama on a basketball scholarship, where he was a teammate of fellow future NBA player Latrell Sprewell. At Alabama, Horry started 108 of the 133 games he played in and helped the Tide win three SEC tournament titles and two berths in the NCAA's Sweet 16 round. Alabama compiled a 98-36 record during his four seasons, with Horry establishing a school record for career blocked shots (282). He was selected to the All-Southeastern Conference, the SEC All-Defensive and the SEC All-Academic teams. Horry was selected 11th overall in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Hous...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=1250521 ... Read more

Excerpt: Latrell Fontaine Sprewell (born September 8, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin) is an American former professional basketball player. During his time as a professional, Sprewell was named to the NBA All-Star game during four seasons, and played for the Golden State Warriors, the New York Knicks, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. He helped lead the Knicks to the NBA Finals and the Timberwolves to the Western Conference finals. Despite his accomplishments, his career was largely overshadowed by a 1997 incident in which he choked his coach, P.J. Carlesimo, during a practice, which ultimately resulted in a 68-game suspension. A 6'5" (1.96 m) guard/forward, Sprewell was known for his fastbreak two-handed tomahawk dunks. Sprewell's career came to an unexpected ending when he refused a $21-million three-year contract offer from the Timberwolves, and no other teams in the league were able to come to terms with him. After attending Washington High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sprewell played competitively with the Three Rivers Community College Raiders Basketball Team in Poplar Bluff, Missouri from 19881990, and from 19901992 with the University of Alabama, where he was a teammate of former NBA player Robert Horry. He was selected 24th overall in the 1992 NBA Draft by the Golden State Warriors. Sprewell, nick...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=884901 ... Read more
