5-0 out of 5 stars A must read about one of the all time greats of Hockey!
Mark Messier (Ice Hockey Legends) is a suprisinglyinformative book that takes an in-depth look at the career of one of sports must decoratedchampions. From his days in Edmonton, were Messier won 5 Stanley Cups, tohis Stanley Cup season as a New York Ranger this book is a wonderfulread!

One of the must exciting aspects of the book, are the actuallyquotes from Messier himself. It really adds to the diversity of the bookand shows the type of character & leadership that Messier is so famousfor. As for the pictures themselfs, I very impressed! They are black& white, but that does not diminish the book in anyway and there aresome great shots of Messier from his earlier days as an Oiler.

Bottom line.Get the the book, it truely is a great read! Messier iswithout question one of the all time great leaders and champions of anysport! ... Read more

Product Description
Mark John Douglas Messier (born January 18, 1961) is a retired Canadian professional ice hockey centre of the National Hockey League and current special assistant to the president and general manager of the New York Rangers. He spent a quarter of a century in the NHL (1979?2004) with the Edmonton Oilers, New York Rangers, and Vancouver Canucks. He also played professionally with the World Hockey Association (WHA)'s Indianapolis Racers and Cincinnati Stingers. He was the last former WHA player to be active in professional hockey, and the last active player who had played in the NHL in the 1970s. Messier is widely considered among the best NHL players of all time as well as among the greatest leaders in the game's history. He is second on the all-time career lists for regular season points (1887), playoff points (295) and regular season games played (1756). He won six Stanley Cups, five with the Oilers and one with the Rangers, and is the only professional athlete to captain two different teams to championships.[citation needed] In 2007, he was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Pretty revealing
Pretty revealing book. I wish there could be a sequel that would discuss Messier years after he came back from Vancouver.

4-0 out of 5 stars A NICE BOOK
THIS IS ABOUT MARK MESSIER FORMER NHL GREAT. THE BOOK COVERS THE CAREER OF MESSIER AND A BIT OF HIS PRIVATE LIFE. MOST OF THE BOOK IS ABOUT HIS CAREER WITH THE NEW YORK RANGERS AND HIS LEADERSHIP THAT HELP THEM FINALLY WIN A STANLEY CUP. THE BOOK IS NOT WRITTEN GREAT DETAIL BUT STILL IS INTERESTING AND MOVES ALONG. I FOUND SOME OF HIGHLIGHTS WERE HIS RELATIONSHIP WITH GRETZKY, HIS BURNING DESIRE TO WIN AND THE BIG EGO AND THE HIGH MAINTENANCE HE REQUIRES TO KEEP HIM HAPPY AND TO PLAY HARD.IT IS A NICE EASY READ AND IS ENTERTAINING. RECOMMENDED.

1-0 out of 5 stars Generic Fluff
Mark Messier is and always will be my favorite hockey player but this book provides no original insight into his character whatsoever. The book offers the same repetitve praise over and over about what great leader he is without ever touching upon the other sides of his personality, particularly the darker and more personal aspects that we don't get to read about in the paper. This book could have been written in a week.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Mess is all cleaned up
A great read....filled with insights and facts on how messier became thegreat player he is today.Great perspectives on mess from players tocoaches to writers.A must read for hockey fans of all ages.

4-0 out of 5 stars Refreshing!
Well written!Keeps you interested and waiting to find out what happens next.Mr. Carpiniello has given the reader a lovely glimpse into thecareer of a wonderful athlete. As a hockey mom whose son greatly admiresthis superstar, I am grateful for a biography that celebrates the leader, the nice guy.In answer to "Horrible", who cares whom theathletes go out with and who doesn't assume that they do?Fill in theblanks or read Jackie Collins. On target to what the sport is about.Thehard work, the dedication and the will to win!Well done! ...
