2-0 out of 5 stars Boring
This book was not only boring but horribly written also

4-0 out of 5 stars A book worth every penny
Being the craziest fan of Steffi, I was really thrilled to get a book onher. Reading it was a pleasure and brought back a lot of memories where I cried when she lost and I jumped with joy when she won.As far as her tennis carrier is concerned I can remember every bit of her victories and this book is perfect with dates anddetails. It hurts to know her private life is not as fanciful and bright asthe great ladies22 grand slams are. I wish somehow Icould reach out to her and make her happy. The book is well written and notbiased on any angle. Her anger and dissentment towardsthe press could only be best understood by people who have been tortured bythe media. Her angeris justified cos after all she ishuman and needs her breathing space away from the lights of the cameras. All I have to say is Steffi is agreat inspiration notonly in terms of her Tennis but also as a good daughter, good sport and agood human being. Hats of to my "Shining Star"

3-0 out of 5 stars It leaves you wandering
I only give it three stars cause most unauthorised biographies only deserve that and even less perhaps. This book if full of presumptions made about a person and her family that the author does not know. She is a fan,I will give her that but how she is then able to write all theunsubstantiated rumors she fills her book with makes me wander what sort offan she is - obviously one who wants to make a lot of money. If she wasreally a fan she should have gone out of her way to win Steffi's favour andhave Steffi consult on the book. From what I have read the Graf family andtheir associates went to great lengths to make it very difficult for Headyto write the book and the final result shows this.

Heady has depended onother peoples version of events.People who either don't really know theGraf's or have something to gain by making up wild rumors concerning Steffiand her family.

I am sure Heady had good intentions when starting outbut all she has ended up with is a book full of speculation and andslander.

A real fan would have tried harder.........

2-0 out of 5 stars Mostly superficial and disappointing
The book seems to consist of little more than recycled old newspaper and magazine articles coupled with bizarre personal attacks. It contains a lot of undocumented allegations when it comes to Steffis personal life, andwhen it comes to her tennis there is very little insightful information. Itappears, the author has not bothered speaking with annyone close to Graf, and it shows all too clearly. Frankly, one does not get the impression thattoo much effort was put into this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A very informative and poignant book
From a fan's point of view, the world of super sports stars seems to be full of glamour and glitz and one forgets that their is a humanness hidden beneath all the fables. This book was certainly unbiased on all counts.Infact, I felt rather sad because of the seemingly lost childhood andadolescence Steffi missed. The book made me feel that this was Steffi'sdestiny from the moment she could lift her father's tennis racket. PeterGraf latched onto a prodigy to carry on his unfulfilled dreams andambitions. However, his extremeness in handling Steffi's career and lackof sensitivity in letting her just be a child certainly left its mark eventoday at 30 years old.Yes, he did in fact give her a career but somehowthe 'everything in moderation' translation got loss in the shuffle.Ithank God that Steffi is finally emerging from her cocoon, really enjoyingher craft by learning to share it with others and reaching out to attainthe happiness and contentment that has been so elusive throughout her life. This book makes you want to put your arm around her and tell her that allis well in the world and no matter what she does beyond the world of tennisis really okay as long as she is happy doing it.Lift your head high andgo for it all, Steffi! You certainly have earned it! ... Read more
