Extractions: (Completed August, 2002) In my effort to perfect the Half Persian 3 Sheet 6 in 1-sided basket, I made this. It is the largest basket of my first ten, and took quite a bit of experimentation to get it right. The basket bottom had to be just the right size to properly tighten the sides at the bottom, hence the beautiful curvature; and the bottom does not droop like my previous HP sided basket (basket two). This basket though, is not as structurally sound as the European 8 in 1 sided baskets, but very nice considering its size.

"It's the special family hangover cure: Raw eggs, lime jello and a touch of flat Guinness. It'll fix you right up, lad." It doesn't, and I can't imagine that anything short of a bullet will cure this hangover. But that's the inevitable outcome when I go drink for drink with an Irishman. Everybody's a hangover expert especially around holiday time and there's no shortage of folk remedies that people swear by, with each concoction more unpalatable than the last. So I decided to poll these self-appointed experts, and some real experts too, in the hopes of finding the truth about hangover cures. Of course, we have a term for a person who has too much experience with hangovers: an alcoholic. But even a social (albeit not particularly sociable) drinker like the Fat Guy overdoes it once or twice every December. As long as major corporations continue to foster the great holiday-party tradition of free liquor, cute secretaries, horny bosses and bad food, and as long as people are driven to drink in order to dull the pain of awkward family gatherings, there will be overindulgence at Christmastime.

Return to News Bottoms up means cleaner streams in Craigville DAVID STILL II PHOTO RAISING A LOT The Craigville Beach Association parking lot will get a little higher courtesy of a project to deepen Lake Elizabeth. Sediments from the lake bottom are being pumped to the lot, which is below the grade of Craigville Beach Road. By David Still II Some still water runs deep, but the increasingly still water in Red Lily Pond and Lake Elizabeth in Craigville in recent years is causing them to get a little shallower and a lot muckier. Work now under way is aimed at reversing that trend and making those still waters a little deeper. The first step is to deepen the pond by removing sandy sediments from below the muck layer, explained Stephen Seymour, project engineer for the town. These sediments are being pumped through a pipe downhill to the Craigville Beach Association's Parking lot, which accounts for the persistent pool of water there. The "floor" of the lot will be raised and the parking area reconstructed over it. Seymour said that everything is on target for a June 15 completion, which will be in time for the association's peak parking lot usage. The work will also contour the bottom into more of a bowl shape, which should increase the flow of water through the middle channel. Seymour said the middle of the pond will be lowered about three feet.
