In fact, I’m not even quite convinced that you can call this poetry. I’m thinking it’s more like nonsense in paragraph form, with a few pretty excerpts that make even less sense. I think she was reduced to calling this poetry simply because there is no other category it could possibly fit in. Although I liked some of her stories and became somewhat involved in her life in a few lines, I didn’t like the overall piece. I think it’s because of the sheer volume. This is obviously someone who writes for herself and not her audience. Which, I have to say, I admire. What’s up with the line, “As for we who “love to be astonished,”” - is it the only thread that holds the whole piece with all of its funky beads together? I’m not sure that it can due to the way it is written. I suppose it’s nice that it can sort of be tied in with anything she writes about, but something about it seems strange to me.
