Extractions: Welcome to Boston Playwrights' Theatre Boston Playwrights' Theatre is a small professional theatre dedicated to the writing and production of new plays. We are also part of the famous Boston University Creative Writing Department. Our graduate playwrights finish four Playwriting Seminars and four literature classes to complete their Masters Degrees in Creative Writing. Their plays, both one-acts and full-lengths, are "workshopped" in our seminars throughout the fall and spring semesters, cast with professional actors from the Boston theatre community. All this hard work culminates in our First Stages Reading Series in April and May. Most years, we produce one or two of our students' (or alumni's) works in our Fall Season of New Plays , hiring professional actors and directors to bring these works alive. (See our Current Productions for more information on our past shows.) The Playwriting Program is challenging and exciting, and it requires a full-time commit-ment to the theatre. It is a wonderful way to immerse yourself in the pitfalls and joys of writing for the stage.
