5-0 out of 5 stars Brooke,a novel that MUST be read
Brooke is the third book, in the seventh series of the V.C. Andrews novels. Brooke is a novel in The orphans Miniseries. When this book is read, keeping up with the novels is absolutely necessary. Brooke is the middle of a series, and starting them all over is a must! It is very good and makes you feel what she is feeling. It can relate to everyday life and the troubles of trying to be someone else. If you like this or are interested, try starting from the beginning. The beginning of the V.C. Andrews book is novels is The Dollanganger Series, and the first book is Flowers in the Attic.

3-0 out of 5 stars Well, not great...yet
Brooke is a completely new version of Butterfly, however there is one large difference, more of which I will come to later.Pamela Thompson wants to live through Brooke, by making her into a beauty queen, just like she was.Brooke, however, just wants to play softball for the private girl's school she attends.Peter Thompson, Pamela's husband is proud of Brooke's accomplishments on the field, but he can't help her at home, Pamela definitely runs the house.Eventually, Brooke, unlike Butterfly refuses to give in to Pamela's desire to take over her personality, has to leave the home after causing Pamela to age....or have a nervous breakdown.

Better than the first two, not as good as Raven, but definitely getting there. Please editor, work harder...

5-0 out of 5 stars Wowzers good book!
A girl that likes sportsanda grown women wanting to live thou a adoted daughter A true story of what really matters Any one who is about ready to adout read this book it tells you what not to do Which some need that spelled out They are not their to fullfill your spot in thir life life to do things they couldnt do! Read it Great Book!!![.]

2-0 out of 5 stars Just okay.
This book was obviously aimed at young teens and pre-teens, which alienates all of V.C.'s older fans that she has earned over the years. Of course, I had to buy it anyway.
I felt that Brooke's story would have been much more interesting had it been put in a longer book. Also, the book was a complete rehash of Butterfly. Extremely trite and predictable, yet better than Butterfly or Crystal. I wouldn't recommend this book for adults, not even die-hard fans of V.C. Save your money and buy the full-length Runaways instead.

4-0 out of 5 stars "Brooke" Flows
When I first read this book, I thought it would be almost the same as "Butterfly". Pretty blonde girl gets adopted from the orphanage and lives with rich parents; father is as nice as can be but the mother is obsessive with trying to make the newly-adopted daughter and clone of herself. However, as I read on, I saw some differences: 1. Butterfly (Janet) tried to please her adopted mother (can't think of her name right now..."Mona" keeps popping into my head, but I know that wasn't it...) any way she could, while Brooke is a little more headstrong and does what she wants to do; 2. Brooke handles stressful situations better than Butterfly did until the end, which is just a smidge more dramatic than "Butterfly"'s ending; 3. Brooke does not let usually herself be intimidated. Unlike most of the V.C. Andrews heroines, she stands up for herself against the snotty girls at her private school. All in all, this was one of the better books in the "Orphans" series. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars WASTE OF MY MONEY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
SUMMER IS SUCH A BORE. IF YOU LIKE BORING STORIES READ THIS! THE ONLY HALF INTRESTING PART IS HARELY! I LIKE RAIN WAY BETTER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IF YOU LIKE GOOD BOOKS GET FLOWERS IN THE ATTIC OR EYE OF THE STORM.

4-0 out of 5 stars summers rainbows..
I had never read VC Andrews, or Virginia Andrews before, and I really enjoyed this book.
Actually I wasn't well and I kept my head stuck in this book for hours and it was like a pain-reliever!

The novel is about a girl named Summer who has had a rich and pampered life.
Shortly after her 16th birthday, however, she is raped.
Wanting to escape the bad memories, shereadily agrees to follow her best male friend Harley out of town, as he searches for his birth father.
But, Harley's 'father' is evil, and lives with a crazy old witch!
Summer and Harley are locked in an attic and poisoned!
Will they get out????!!

Crazy story, heh?But I enjoyed it(like I said).
I have taken-out 3 more Andrews books, but it bothers me to hear they are all basically the same story ( ?? )
I have started reading Gates of Paradise and it certainly seems familiar!!! I hope it and the others will be fun, and not monotnous, to read.

Again, I really liked Summer's story.

1-0 out of 5 stars *sigh*
I started reading the Andrews novels over 10 years ago and was totally hooked.Rain was the first Andrews novel I'd read since the Landry series.

I started reading the novels again because I wanted something fun to read while studying for the Bar Exam. The other books in this series were bad, but End of the Rainbow is one of the worst novels I've ever read.I kept reading the other novels because I kept expecting Rain to lose her inheritence or something unpredictable to happen.

I really don't think the ghostwriter planned this novel very well.It was as if he had one storyline going and decided near the end to have Summer and Harley trapped in the basement.Ridiculous.

If End of the Rainbow is any indication, the better days of the V.C. Andrews novels are over.

1-0 out of 5 stars Sedative - in book form!
If you have trouble sleeping at night, you just might want to purchase this book. Trite, slow-moving, cliched, this book is just like the other V.C. Andrews book, only it is by far one of the most poorly-written published works of "art" I'd ever come across. Obviously, if V.C. Andrews's ghostwriter hadn't penned it and it had been some other schmuck, it never would have gotten published, much less touched an editor's desk.

In a nutshell, this book is just like all the other V.C. Andrews books. There's plenty of rape, a bad boy with a fiery temper who feels the need to protect his lover/relative, an incarceration ala FITA or Gabrielle Landry, and a bunch of cliched metaphors and similes that will make any reader cringe. And was it just me or was Summer not worthy of a narrator where this book was concerned. Seemed to me this book should have been told by Harley. It was more about him than her anyway.

Once again, if you can't sleep at night, pick up this book as a knockout pill. Otherwise, be smart and avoid it.

Cheers!

1-0 out of 5 stars Totally lacking any substance
After reading the first three books in this series i felt it was only right to embark on the final installment.Boy...what a disappointment!I struggled endlessly to finish it.It totally lacked substance and had no backbone..nor did its characters, especially Summer.Talk about a spoiled child!!!!And the part with Suze and Ed was just enough to make me want to stop and not finsh the book.I surely hope I'll find what I'm looking for in the "Willow" series. There is something to be said about ghostwriters...and Ms. Andrews' ghostwriter needs to wake up and smell the coffee! ... Read more

Book Description
In the heart of the bayou, Ruby Landry lives a simple, happy life. But innocence can't last forever...

The only family Ruby Landry has ever known are her loving guardian, Grandmère Catherine, a Cajun spiritual healer, and her drunken, outcast Grandpèrb Jack. Although thinking about her dead mother and mysterious father sometimes makes her feel as mournful as the wind sighing through the Spanish moss, Ruby is grateful for all she has. Her life is filled with hope and promise...especially when her attraction for handsome Paul Tate blossoms into a mysterious, wonderful love. But Paul's wealthy parents forbid him to associate with a poor Landry, and Grandmère urges her to follow her dream of becoming a great painter, foreseeing a time when Ruby will be surrounded with riches in the dazzling city of New Orleans! Yet she cannot know how close that uncertain future looms....

In a faded photograph, Ruby glimpses for the first time the image of her father -- and learns of a shameful deception and a shocking scheme of blackmail that now must come to light. Stunned by these revelations, she is devastated when Grandmère dies, leaving her to seek out her father in his vast New Orleans mansion. There, in a house of lies, madness, and cruel torment, Ruby clings to her memories of Paul to keep her heart alive. For only their love can save her now....

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Series by VC Andrews
I have consumed VC Andrews' books since her debut with Flowers In The Attic so many years ago. That was a "scandalous" book to a seventh grader. The Dollanganger saga was the first complete series I had.I read My Sweet Audrina--yech--the Casteel series, and the Cutler series, but none really grabbed my interest like the Dollangangers had.

Enter Ruby Landry.

I absolutely LOVE these books.Next to my copy of The Stand and my Harry Potter books, these books sit in the place of honor.I have bought and rebought these books I don't know HOW many times. And I don't know why.

Probably because it takes place in Louisiana, which, even now, after Katrina, is still a favorite state, second only to my own Texas.Probably because the bulk of it concerns New Orleans, which is my favorite city to visit. It's a kick to read about the streetcar, which I've ridden, the Garden District, which I've toured, the French Quarter, you get the message. You read these books, and you can almost smell the creole / cajun food, hear the zydeco music playing and the cicadas chirping in the background.(And if you read them in the summer, it's even MORE realistic!)

But you get to genuinely like and care about Ruby. She's talented, beautiful, like all of VC Andrews' heroines..but she's a lot stronger, I think, than the others.Cathy, you almost dislike sometimes, because she knows she's beautiful and talented, that she gets arrogant from time to time.Heaven you just want to shake and yell, "GET OVER IT!!"and Dawn, you want her to PLEASE get a backbone and quit being such a whiny baby. But Ruby is gentle, humble, and strong..she'll take and take and take and then BOOM!! she'll fight back..although I was wondering at first how much of Giselle's crap she would take. She stands up and accepts her mistakes, tries to always takes the high road..but even in her moments of weakness, not for one minute does she appear weak--except maybe in All That Glitters.I mean, come on...I think God would accept a divorce from your half brother, don't you?

But I do love the Ruby books. In my opinion, they are VC Andrews best work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Votre Petie Moulin--"Ruby" herself
I have the real Gisselle here with me as I am the 'real' Ruby. This series touched me in so many ways. Usually I don't read gooey romance novels, but this one struck home. I could relate to the pain and suffering that Ruby was forced to endure--Being 'raped' by a man that her grandfather sold her to, Losing a father, being pregnant, having a sister that ruined her life... (Sorry Gisselle, you did, sweetie!)I can commune with quite a few of these things. this book made me feel as if there were other people who were going through the same things that I did, even though these people were ficticious.
And also...Beau is extremely hot.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not My Type
I love V.C. Andrews books, but Ruby and Melody were the ones that I hated the most. I hope that Giselle girl doesn't come after me, but if you do it's just my opinion. I thought that Ruby was a nice girl, but she kept on letting Giselle get her into trouble instead of fighting back like she should've. That showed that she was weak. I admired her for leaving from Paul after finding out that they were related, but I didn't even read the second book when I found out that they would get married. Bless V.C. Andrews's soul, but once she passed the ones writing her books have been ruining her name.

5-0 out of 5 stars OMG!!!!
anywho! so here is another review from me. i was reading other peoples reveiews and many many many people gave this book a great review! so proud of you people. i pressed the button that said yes this review has been very helpful. all reviews were except one girl who really pissed me. i think her name was labled as readble! anywas she gave this book three stars. you should see the comments she wrote. how dare you give it three stars. whats your problem. in your review you sounded like a total bart! get over yourself. are you using BIG words in your review because you think you know everything or is it because your so insecure about your beauty? your so insecure that you feel the only way you'll get attention is by sounding smart. i have news for you, people can see through your fakeness. why don't you take some time to stick your face out of your book to get a date. or maybe guys won't date your dog face. BOW WOW! I can't believe that you would disrespect Giselle like that! how do you know she wasn't deep? can you read her mind? DON'T think so. Don't you ever say that beau rapped RUBY! i bet your happy that you read this book because it gave you a chance to touch yourself and imagine what your life could be like because your so lonely? if i were you, i would think twice before writing another review like that one! OKAY! BOW WOW

2-0 out of 5 stars Meh
As much as I love V.C. Andrews, however formulaic they can be, this one was just too bland. Sure, she deviates a little bit from the usual v.c. andrews heroines by being "goth", but even that wore thin rather fast. It just didn't have enough dramatic suspense(c'mon the biggest twist is that the grandmother is a nasty old crone). It might have been better as a full scale book, so more attention could've been paid to character developement. The mini-series are just gettting progressively weaker.

1-0 out of 5 stars terrible.
This book was boring and completely dragged. Maybe if I was ten years younger and in the sixth grade I'd like it. I liked the idea of Cinnamon's character, but she was so poorly developed, and her story was too. Yuck! These "minibooks" have got to stop. I refuse to buy another one of them.

2-0 out of 5 stars *sigh*
I think this mutated semblance of literature needs to be crushed in the iron grip of "out of print" as does most of the poor dead idiotic ramblings of "the Ghost Writer" *cough* Andrew Neiderman.
Every word that floated into my vision from that most horrible book made me want to throw up all over again.
Oh and goodie-goodie! She's a goth! Yay! Diversity! *NOT* Everyone in highschool doesn't beat the different popularity over the head with a stick. It may just be my highschool, but I'm pretty much the picture people get in their heads when you say "non-conformist" and guess what, I have a.) never been accused of being a lesbian with my teacher b.) never had my mother go crazy for a month then come back and c.) never had a putrid evil half-mad grandmother.
Andrew had better have some body-guards, old Cleo V. Andrews might roll out of her grave and make an attemp on his life if this keeps up.
2 stars for the lack of romantic interest she had for her family members.

2-0 out of 5 stars Let Her Name Rest in Peace Already!
V.C. Andrews must truly be spinning in her grave considering that her once good name has been dragged through the mud time and time again by Andrew Neiderman. I hope he can barely sleep at night knowing that he's only in it for the money and the family should TRULY be ashamed of themselves. The worst thing that happens to Cinnamon is Ooh, her "Mommy" goes crazy for a short period of time, and Ooh, she gets accused of being a lesbian with her teacher. The horror! *major sarcasm here* And can you tell me in what alternate universe does every single teenager call their parents "Mommy" and "Daddy"?! Not a single one of my friends does, that's for sure, nor anybody I work with or have ever met. Also the whole "Yes, Mommy", "No, Daddy, "Okay, Joe" thing gets REALLY annoying! Nobody says the person's name after every sentence. I think they should just let V.C. Andrews rest in peace. The only reason I gave "Cinnamon" two stars was because she wasn't your typical goody-goody in the lines of Ruby, Dawn, Rain, etc. She actually had a personality, shock of all shocks, and wasn't so obsessed with making everybody like her. A vast improvement in main character even though Neiderman remains VERY stereotypical in some senses. Of course the Goth Girl would believe in spirts and in "Ice" which I've just started she lives in a project. 'Cuz all black people live in a project, don't you know? *major, MAJOR sarcasm* Beware those who are asking for different ethnicties. You might get an Asian main character, but she'll probably have a "Mommy" who tries to control her every move, a grandmother stuck in the old ways, and a "Daddy" who owns a corner store. I don't think there's anything that can save these books except finding a different writer or at least firing Andrew Neiderman!

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome
I liked the book alot. I have like evry book by V.C. Andrews and I love them all. The book never got boring. All the other books in this series never got boring either. I loved every book till the end. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Four Talented Young Ladies
This book was about four young ladies who came out of their shells.Cinnamon did a beautiful job performing on stage.I think she deserved to get the last laugh on the girls who resented her for taking the lead role.Ice got what she wanted a chance to be herself. She made friends with a piano player.Rose was grieved when her dad died. She felt better about herself when she helped Evan get out and meet people.Honey liked to play the violin which her uncle Peter taught her to play. She enjoyed having a good relationship with Chandler.

1-0 out of 5 stars What the ***?
Why take four godawful mini books and make them into one, horrendous novel? I suspect it's about the money. If you want to waste your money, go ahead and buy it. Otherwise, if you want to be smart and save, don't bother. As Simon Cowell would say - this is absolutely dreadful.

4-0 out of 5 stars Fascinating

3-0 out of 5 stars Daft Names R Us
First of all, I think this whole "let's give the heroine a silly name just because we can" business has got WAY out of hand.I've known plenty of people called Jade and Rose, and I've heard of people called Cinnamon, Honey and so on, but I think Ice is just a name they made up.(Please note- if you actually know someone called Ice please accept my apologies.)
Anyway, this Ice character.Well, as I've said before, these mini-books aren't really about having a story- they're more about establishing character and leading up to the main book. She's established as being very shy, and only really using her voice to sing, not talk (is this sounding like "Little Voice" to you?Anyway). She's very prudish and sensitive, but then that's not too unusual in a Virginia Andrews character. She's also a non-stereotypical black character. You know how a lot of her other black characters (Pheobe, Star and so on) have short tempers and are always trying to pick a fight?Well, not Ice.Which makes a nice change.
Throw in romance, a tarty mother, a wise father and a lot of jazz references and...Well, like I said, there isn't much of a story. But if the character sounds appealing to you, go read the book.
I think they should call the next heroine Apple.Just because.

4-0 out of 5 stars a fine book
i don't see that this book is a bad one , in fact i find it much nicer than cinnamon which was a little bit silly about the spirits thing...ice is a very touching story, the only drawback i think was that it's short.

1-0 out of 5 stars I'd give it ZERO stars if I could
After buying Cinnamon, I swore I would never buy another stupid minibook ever again. Well, one night I was in the grocery store and, for reasons unknown to even myself, I wound up tossing this little thing in my shopping cart. Thankfully, this was the book that cured me of ever buying another V.C. book again without reading some excerpts first. There aren't words to describe how horrendous this book was. I couldn't even finish it. I wound up skimming to the end to see what traumatizing event would afflict Ice. It's a shame, because Ice's story had promise. I bet the real V.C. Andrews would've made a wonderful full-length novel (for adults, no less) out of it. Sadly, that can never happen. Unless you are under the age of 13, I'd advise you to skip this tired mess.

4-0 out of 5 stars The review of Ice
This story is about a young girl named Ice. She has parental problems. Her mom has a drinking problem and always makes Ice feel bad about herself. Her father always wants another child. Then Ice's mom claims that he is just trying to make her unattractive, but I don't think he is. So Ice has problems and tries to get though them is her own ways.
I loved this book. The reason is because I also have problems, but not as harsh as hers. Ice was a very interesting charter in this story. She always listened to others though her thin walls of her apartment. She can do this because her parents don't come home until later at night. This was one of her ways that she learns about life. To me this was a very interesting way to learn. These are all of the ideas that made me like this book so much.
The reason why I chose this book is because of the cover that looked so cool. I also loved the title and how someone would name their child "Ice". The story was exactly what I was looking forward to be reading about. The last reason why chose this book is because I like the way that V.C Andrews writes.

4-0 out of 5 stars The second book in the SHooting Stars Series
I was very wary on reading this book as a result of all the negative reviews. But scrolling down to some of the more earlier ones I realized that I should give it a chance and I wasn't really disappointed. Ice is an entertaining novel to the series that deserves 3 or 4 stars (since I like the series so much I gave it the benefit of the doubt and gave the book 4 stars instead of 3). Ice tells the story about a shy teenager named Ice. When Ice is very young her school psychologist gives her the label elective mute because it seems like she chooses never to speak and in so many ways that is true. At 17, she lives with her narcissistic mother and her silent father and very rarely talks herself. The only time she ever really opens her mouth is to sing in her church choir or sing old jazz tunes to her father. Her voice is so beautiful that she finds she may have the chance to change her life forever, but not if her mother has her way. If you enjoy VC Andrews mini-series I recommend you read this. I can't wait to read the next books in the series (the 3rd being Honey). Enjoy! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Heaven by V.C. Andrews
Heaven is part of a five book series by the author V.C. Andrews. This one is about the Casteel family. The main character is a girl named Heaven and the story is about her life.It tells how her West Virginia family is so poor and how hard thier lives are.Heaven is always looking to overcome this and prove to everyone that someday she will make it out of this town and have a better life. The story is so unbeliveable that people actually lived this way during the 1950-1960's.This book is for everyone who likes realistic fiction and can handle adult content.

5-0 out of 5 stars Extremely pleased
I have read every single book V.C. Andrews has ever written. I started in 5th grade and I have never stopped. Dawn was the first book of hers that I have read. I have been hooked ever since. Her books show so much emotion that you can't help but fall in love with the characters. Dawn, Heaven, andRuby, are all characters that as humans we can relate to. They all gothrough the hardships of life and love, but they have fun adverntures whiledoing so. Through these characters, it is possible to dream and live outyour own personal fantasies. Visit places you've never been or shareexperiences that are beyond reach.

5-0 out of 5 stars ITS SADISTIC.....but great!!!!!!!!
I first picked up this book when I was 13, and I couldn't put it down until I came to the last page. The series is compelling, bitter-sweet and I recommend it to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book(Heaven)was compelling and brilliant!!!!!!!!!!
I read Heaven a while back and thouroughly enjoyed it.Recently I have read 7 or8 more of her books plus the'new' series which is just as exellent. What I love most about her writing is that it is so passionate,I have often found myself crying over one of her novels,I'm glad someone has carried on her thrilling series of family sagas.-a Zimbabwean fan.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book: Dawn by V.C. Andrews
Out of all the V.C. Andrew novel-series, I loved this one the best.Dawn went threw some terrible things in her lifetime, but in the end she found happiness and sucess. The only reason her half-sister and grandmother hated her was because they hated themselves. I read Darkest Hour before reading about Dawn and I was shocked.I couldn't believe that was the same Lillian Cutler.I gathered from Darkest Hour that Lillian, although going through hell coming up, that she ended up a kind woman. But I quess by the time Dawn met her she had suffered so much that her heart couldn't take anymore pain and she became spiteful. What we go through in life can either have a good impact on us to do better, or have a bad impact on us to make our hearts angry. And I suppose Lillian chose the negative road.Nonetheless, I loved the entire series and I plan on reading it again soon. ... Jade had listened to Misty and Star tell their stories. Now it is her time to speak. But she can't. For while the others in Dr. Marlowe's therapy group had exposed their hidden pains and secret pasts, they are nothing like Jade. 3-0 out of 5 stars The plots are getting darker
Following the theme of divorce and it's impact on children, "Jade" spins another story of a rich girl caught in between her Mother and her Father's civil divorce procedure.
I have found that this series has gotten better with each book, just inching a little darker with each new story it introduces, and edging closer to a traditional Virginia Andrews style story.
Again 3 stars from me, an entertaining read.

1-0 out of 5 stars Jade, the Cyber Princess of Beverly Hills
Her parents are fighting over her whilst they divorce, each one wanting custody to hurt the other. In fact, the only one they are hurting is Jade. She runs away to the boy she met on the internet, who turns out to be a psychopath that keeps her locked in a bedroom, tied to a bed with computer cables. She escapes and eventually tells her parents, who realize they are hurting her.The warm family ending won't work out, but that's where her story stops.I couldn't help laughing at the scene where she is taken prisoner. It's not cool when you laugh at a scene like that.It should bother you.

3-0 out of 5 stars Third Time Isn't the Charm in this Case
A Review by Amy

A familiar word, divorce, is the main part of Jade's life in this third of a series. Jade starts out with Jade talking with three other clients in a therapy office, all in which are girls. Jade is being swarmed by both her mom and dad about divorce issues; who will get custody? While her parents are pressuring Jade to feel that she loves one over the other, she meets someone online; Craig. He has similar family problems to her and Jade soon sets off for a journey of her life to meet him in San Francisco. Jade will never be the same again.

The plot of Jade was boring and dull, and nothing built up to the climax. This was defiantly a quite boring 3rd book. There were no exciting points that made you want to read more. I liked how V.C. Andrews wrote in this book, such as her use of words and characterization, but it still isn't one that I would read again. Andrews usually has a great twist in her story, but this was a little too strange for my liking. It had no relation to the story what so ever.

I would recommend this story to people who like to be bored as they read a story. V.C. Andrews definitely was not writing her normal here. I don't recommend reading this book at all.

2-0 out of 5 stars Disappointing
The first two stories in the Wildflowers Series were great. I was really excited to read "Jade" - but I was very disappointed. Jade is a beautiful, rich girl with parents who absoultely hate each other. Her mom is favoring her and fillig her mind with horrible stories of her father, and her dad is doing the same. Jade is wrapped up in the viscious court battle, to see which parent will get custody, and it is driving her insane. Soon, she starts to go into chatrooms, and meets Craig - ateenager with problems like her's. One night, when the situation with her parents becomes absoultely unbearable, she hops on a plane to California to meet Craig. When she gets there - she finds herself in one of the most dangerous situations in her entire life.

I loved the first two books, but in my opinion, VC Andrews is slacking. This book was good for the last twenty-ish pages. The first hundered or so were very slow and boring, then it was interesting...then it was so utterly disturbing I had to stop reading it. It took me about two weeks to finish, because I really didn't want to read it because it's such a sick and disturbing story. I expect more from "Cat" the next in the series.

5-0 out of 5 stars empressive Book
I enjoyed this book its entertaining and really tells about dangers of the internet! ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Ooh!Ooh!I'm telling!
Gather round children. Now, do you remember your kindly Auntie Kate telling you that some V.C. Andrews books lift bits from other books when they think you're not looking?Well, this book is a perfect example.
Most of the first half of "Rose" is nicked from the first chapter of "Flowers In The Attic."And from that, you should work out which one of Rose's relatives you shouldn't get too attached to (I don't do spoilers, honest).
As to the rest of the book... bla bla bla scheming aunt, bla bla bla not-all-there mother, bla bla bla noble if one-dimensional boyfriend.Evan's character is pretty original, and that almost made me cave in and give this book an extra star. But the whole gratuitous storyline-repeating was too much to overcome.I can't believe they thought nobody would notice.People these days...
(PS- Much is made of Rose's beauty.I wish, just once, they'd have an ugly heroine. Mumble mumble.)

3-0 out of 5 stars Rose
Lovely, talented, and innocent, Rose was loved and cherished by her father. His death, whether it was an accident or suicide, left behind secrets that have been hidden all their lives. Soon the doors to his many secrets opened and changed Roses "normal" teenage life in Lewisville, Georgia. It leads her and her mother into a fantasy life that wasn't as good as it seemed. Roses mother gets caught up in this luxury life that wasn't true and caused her to become someone she isn't. Roses mother soon forgets the value of life and that love and family is priceless and worth more than the world she is caught up in. Rose meets people that help her live the life that she had always only dreamed of, they give her hope and faith and the will to make it through. The unexpected happens to Rose. She gets the confidence to succeed, in her new unfamiliar world, from a stranger. I would recommend this book to my friends around my age because the way Roses life changes and also by the way she had to change by the events that happened in her life. I also like the way the novel ends; it ends in a twisted and unexpected way. I don't like the book in a way because some parts have nothing to do with the way Rose struggles through life. I don't think adults or children would enjoy reading this novel. I think the book would have been a lot better if there was more action. The way V.C. Andrews describes the characters was interesting and makes you wonder about their personality, it draws you in. I overall think this was a good novel.

1-0 out of 5 stars The worst of the worst!
This is possibly the worst V.C. Andrews book I have ever read (it and Cinnemon are in a close race), and it is definitely in the worst series.I don't know why I continue reading these mini-series books when I know they are all basically the same book rewritten with new characters.Like other Andrews characters, Rose has to deal with the death of a parent, the self-centeredness of another parent, and meeting relatives she never knew she had.Sounds really familiar, doesn't it?Unlike the original Andrews books, where the writing was so descriptive that I could almost feel like I was there living through the events along with the characters (and did not want to put the book down for anything), the new books are so bland that it is a chore just to finish one chapter. ... Book Description
THEY BEGAN AS STRANGERS -- FOUR TEENAGE GIRLS WITH NOTHING IN COMMON BUT THEIR MISERABLE CHILDHOODS. SOON, THEY WOULD REALIZE THAT THEIR SECRET PASTS HAD BOUND THEM TOGETHER FOREVER....

Misty, Star, Jade, and Cat first came together in Dr. Marlowe's group therapy sessions. They trusted no one but each other -- and even that bond was fragile at best. One by one, each of the Wildflowers told her own story and bravely unveiled the inner wounds inflicted by years of lies, deceit, and untold family secrets; each revealed the shocking tales of how their parents hurt them, used them, or simply abandoned them. And as they shared their darkest feelings, they no longer felt like lost souls with nowhere to turn. Finally, years of loneliness and pain gave way to the realization that someone else in this world understood them. But then the sessions ended, and the girls didn't know if they would ever see each other again.

Now they are coming together one more time. Jade has sent out invitations to her parents' mansion -- the sprawling, opulent homethat served as a battleground for much of her young life. There, the four will rekindle their bonds of friendship and trust. But this time, away from Dr. Marlowe's watchful eye, it will be different. Today, in the mansion's attic, Star, Jade, Cat, and Misty will take each other's hands and swear to tell the real truth -- the shattering secrets that lie deep within them like smoldering coals. And once the darkest secret of all is spoken aloud, there will be no turning back. For there may be some things the Wildflowers should leave buried forever....

1-0 out of 5 stars Don't waste your time
++**Warning Spoilers Ahead**++

This book is a real doosie, by far the worst V C Andrews book I have read so far, the story was unrealistic and totally unbelievable. I have a fair idea where the Andrews Ghost writer pulled this book from (ie. somewhere that the sun does not shine).

"Into The Garden" continues the saga of the "Wildflowers series" specifically following the character Cathy "Cat". The novel has a good start, delving into lost secrets of Cat's family, in true Andrews fashion. But the novel takes a strange turn when Cat's mother mysteriously dies and the four friends (Cat, Misty, Jade and Star) decide that instead of reporting the death to the police they should bury the body in the back yard. The premise to this decision is that this will save Cat from going into foster care, and as a bonus the girls can use Cat's house as their very own clubhouse, for the purpose of throwing parties and sleeping with boys.

The bizaar thing about this story is the lack of regard and remorse these friends show throughout the novel, and the rash decision of disposing the body without little thought to consequences. At seventeen you would think that they had some brains rattling around in their head, but apparently these girls have no intelligence and no concious at all. Perhaps these "Orphans With Parents" family problems and abandonment actually stemmed from their parents realising that their daughters were born without souls. Can people really be that unconciable??

The ending is also bizaar with a slapped together sum up, which features the return of Dr. Marlow.

Overall, this book gives this reader the feeling that the author gave little thought to the plot and just wrote down any old thing in his head as he went along.

Trully one of the worst reads I've had in a while.

5-0 out of 5 stars Enthralling
These girls aren't like the "Runaway" girls. But they make some shocking decisions. As soon as you read the book, you feel the chill it contains. I thought the senario was going to be predictable. Kind of like in the first four V.C. Andrews series. But when Geroldine suddenly died, I knew this book would take a wirl of exicitment. The characters are unrealistic, and I am surprised they even got along. But they pulled through the hard times.

When Cat and her friends buried Geri, it showed how naive they were to try and cover up the truth. I guess hat's what it took, to keep Cat from living with foster parents. They were all very naive, but halarious! You will question the audacity, these girls have! They have some major nerve.

1-0 out of 5 stars To say this is terrible would be an understatement!
This was, perhaps, one of the worst books I'd ever read in my entire life. It started off as good, but immediately went downhill as soon as they buried the mother in the backyard (can't they get into serious trouble for that?). In fact, it was so bad I couldn't even finish it, and usually, I'm the type to finish what I start. It's totally unrealistic, vapid, and the characters aren't even people you can care about.

This book makes me cringe just thinking about it.

Don't buy, if you know what's good for you, but if you'll read any trash, go ahead and waste your money. Don't say I didn't warn you.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Late Bloomer's Adventures
Cat really did come out of her shell in this book.I was glad when she went to the brunch at Jade's house. As for Geraldine, good riddance. It was a shock that Howard was going to pin his killing Geraldine on Cat if she (C) didn't do what he said.As for Stuart, his big loss when he didn't come around after all things came out.I was glad when Dr. Marlowe got custody of Cat.I hope to hear a story about Cat's college adventures.

1-0 out of 5 stars Is This a Joke?
Once upon a time in a galaxy far, far away, outside the outer limits, somewhere in the twilight zone, there lived four girls, all with weird names.Misty, Star, Jade and Cat, were all products of bad homes.Bad homes with bad parents. After therapy wraps up, they want to stay friends, and so when Cat's adoptive Mother/sister/not-real-sister, decides to die, the girls get together and bury her in Cat's back yard.Anything to keep Cat out of a foster home and get a clubhouse for themselves.

No one knows the woman is dead until the girls confess it, to save Cat from danger. And here's the funny part. That backyard/graveyard was in Beverly Hills.90210.

Now, here is why you should not read this book. You should not read this book, because it is bad.As in poorly written, unrealistic, and just foolish. The charaters talk like professers from Harvard and act like the kids on Barney. It's one long 300 page joke. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Willow
I just didn't feel for Willow as i had all the previous characters. The series starts with Willow as a college student, returning home after a tradegy in the family. i won't spoil it, so that's all i can really say. It's the typical set up, except i really wish that the series has started earlier in Willow's life, like all of V.C. Andrews other series. I just didn't get to know Willow, she was boring, and the relationship with Thacther Happened rather quickly in my opinion. I did manage to finish it, so that's why it gets 2 stars.

2-0 out of 5 stars Too boring for words
I couldn't get through the series because I found myself uninspired by the character. She lacked the drive of V.C. Andrews previous heroines. Her father lies about her real mother so of course she goes to find out about her blah blah blah. I mean her blandness reeks on every page.

I really don't recommend this book to any...it's sad to say since VC Andrews is my favorite author and i find her books very entertaining. I like reading things that don't necessarily stick to what people deem normal.

Willow was just too normal...I couldn't get past book two.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book was great
I believe this book was unlike most of the V.C. Andrews books I ahve read. It has a flair about that just wasn't like the others. Most of the other girls are dependabke on men. Willow was a strong women who held her own place, I can't wait to read the next one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Willow
Willow was a story that really spoke to me, Im thankful there was no, Your my half brother, or something on those boundries. I found I could relate to willow. Who isn't the perfect character, or thinks everyone should pity her. I found Thatcher Eaton to be one of those, rich guys, who makes trouble. The characters were well thought of, with there personalities, just like Flowers In The Attic was. This book really deserves your full attention. Because it will grab it anyway, if you don't give it your full attention in the first place.

Anyone who likes V.C Andrews will surely think of this book as a delight.

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally!!!!!
Finally...V.C. Andrews' ghostwriter has written a book worthy of V.C. herself!I was sooooo delighted to find that this book did not once refer to the main character having sexual relations with any of her blood relatives nor ending up pregnant and having to get married.Willow was indeed one of the first strong characters I've seen since the "Heaven" series.....which was from 1987!!!!!I'm looking forward to digging into the remaining books of this series! ... Also a great price.

4-0 out of 5 stars Broken Wings
I have finally found all of V.C. Andrews' books in Hardback!!! I'm very happy!

4-0 out of 5 stars To be continued....
I haven't read a novel by V. C. Andrews since the series that began with "Flowers in the Attic", but that was a long time ago, and I should have expected something different. I was still somewhat disappointed that this one wasn't in the same genre, and more in Young Adult territory, but it was entertaining all the same. This is the story of three teenagers from different walks of life, but each firmly on the path to self-destruction.

Robin is from a broken home, doesn't know who her father is (neither does her mother) and has been forced to move to Nashville with her mother, who is pursuing a singing career. She constantly gets herself into trouble, until she meets a boy with even worse problems, when everything finally falls apart.

Teal has everything a girl could dream of, except the love of her parents. She was born after her parents had passed the point of wanting children, and never felt like a part of the family. To get the attention she craves, she keeps pulling wilder and more dangerous stunts, and when she meets a boy from the wrong side of the tracks, she stretches way too far on her already insecure limb.

Phoebe was born into problems, with an irresponsible mother and a weak-natured father, and when her mother takes off for parts unknown, her father leaves her in the care of her aunt and uncle, who are strict disciplinarians.Unable to stay out of trouble, she meets a wealthy young man who has selfish motives of his own.

This is where the story leaves us high and dry, and you need to get the sequel "Midnight Flight" to see what happens to the three in the end.The story of the troubled teenagers is a "to be continued"

5-0 out of 5 stars COMPLETELY SPELL BINDING
This book almost put me to tears, especially Teal's story. i find that with every V.C Andrews book, i actually get a better perspectave on how and what i sometimes complain about and then compare myself to the charactors in these breathtaking books. Robin was a victim to a mother blinded by fame and fortune, Teal was subjected to a family more concerned with their appearance than helping their daughter. And Phoebe was under a roof, even though i don't agree with ther behavior, with a too strict and old fashioned way of life. The sequel is even just as good.

5-0 out of 5 stars I liked it
I bought the book with the second half so I was able to read the whole story. It really gets into it in Midnight Flight. The ending really hooks you. I liked it. And I think the ghost writer is doing a good job. It is different from the earlier books. That did get boring after a while. This one is totally different. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Orphans with parents
The wildflowers follows 4 teenage girls who reveal a secret during a therapy session. Each secret becomes darker as the book progresses as each girl reveals how they have been betryed by their parents.

As a reader I was left thinking that Cat (the last girl to reveal her secret) has not only been betrayed by her parents but also by the councillor Dr Marlow, who has encouraged her to reveal a devastating secret to 3 other girls who have not experienced anything quite as bad as poor Cat.
It appears that Cat has been taken advantage of again, this time by Dr Marlow, who has used Cat as the ultimate "Well you think you got it bad?..." example that makes the other girls problems seem petty and insignificant.
Well, at least she seems to have made some friends out of it, but to this reader it did not seem credible that this girl would reveal such a secret to strangers unless they had shared stories more similar to her own. And shouldn't have Dr Marlow put Cat in a therapy session with others who could be more empathetic to her circumstances?
Ok, not great

A Review of the Book by V.C. Andrews
Laura Young

Misty, by V.C. Andrews, is about a young girl who is going to therapy to help ease the sting of her parents' divorce. Her therapist, Doctor Marlowe, suggests having a group therapy session with three other patients of hers. Misty reluctantly goes first and tells the small group of girls her life story. As she learns to open up to the girls and Dr. Marlowe, she learns the meaning of trust and emotion.
The reason I decided to read this book is because I read an excerpt on the author's website. I thought it sounded interesting and borrowed the book from the library, not fully knowing what to expect.
I believe teenage girls who have had emotional problems in their past could relate to Misty's struggles to find who she is. I know I understood a few of her problems. I know that I have been asked to take sides in fights before in my family, so I could kind of understand her emotions. She was confused with her life and I am too sometimes.
Misty was sounded like a normal teenager, which was good because the character came from a rich family and went to a fancier school than most, causing her to be a little smarter than a couple of the girls in the therapy circle. She relaxed a little bit once she started her story. I thought her character was going to be unlikable because she was a little snobby in the beginning of the book, but once she warmed up to the other girls she seemed less high maintenance than they thought she was.
The setting was beautifully described. It takes place at Dr. Marlowe's Beverly Hills home. It was described as a spacious home with a large office where the therapy group is in session. It sounded almost like a Barbie dream house, except better.
The main weakness of this story was that Misty would sometimes go into too much detail about one of her past relationships with a boy. It seemed unnecessary to her telling about her parents' divorce. I understand how it was related, I just did not think it was necessary.
Overall, I enjoyed this book. It felt relatable at points and real. It was a mystery of sorts, with Misty trying to figure out why she feels this way. I loved how it portrayed a young girl trying to find herself. There are too many stories out there about guys trying to find out who they are. It gets a little frustrating,
I recommend this book to anyone who likes stories where people tell each other how they really feel. Enjoy!!

5-0 out of 5 stars great novel
this book actually combines each book into one. All four girls meet at Therapy and then have to tell their lives to eachother. From one girl after another, I was amazed to see the story that layed behind each one. Out of all the girls, i consider Cat's to be the most entertaining.
Star's boyfriend got killed, Misty feels like no one loves her, Jade is considered to be spoiled and can have no feelings at all. But, really does. And Cat barely talks. It's a very good book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good Book
This a good book and i read all the way threw. But this is not a as good as the Flower in the Attic books. Also, you shouldknow that v.c. Andrews did not right this is what a ghostwriter who did but this writer does a good job coping her wierd storys.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great book
This book was very interesting because, it was a really misterious kind of book. These book was a little confusing because it would talk about the old man who was one of the charecters. Then it will talk about hes paintings. But this book at last was kind of misterious when the old men dies. He dies when he paints hes last painting. ... Read more

Book Description
Melody Logan was as alone as a solitary gull, with only the wild Atlantic wind to lift her spirits....

When Melody Logan's mother died in a car accident, Melody lost the last shred of family she had ever known. She was practically a stranger to the Logans, her wealthy relatives on Cape Cod, where she now drifted on a sea of dark secrets. In the eyes of gentle Aunt Sara, Melody was a replacement for her dead daughter, while for Uncle Jacob she was a reminder of the family's shameful past. Only good-hearted Cary seemed to care, and since it was revealed that she and Cary weren't truly cousins, the affection that had always surged between them now crested in thrilling waves.

But Melody knew she could never truly echo Cary's loving promises until she discovered her own buried identity. Despite Grandma Olivia's daggerlike threats, Melody sought out Belinda, a mysterious, half-crazy woman who was her real grandmother. Belinda gave Melody hope -- and a glimmer of the pearls of truth she knew were hidden in the shifting Cape Cod sands. 3-0 out of 5 stars Heart Song by Veronica
In the story, Heart Song, Melody Logan, the main character, was living among what seemed strangers to her.Her mother Haille recently died in a car accident so she has to go live with her relatives on Cape Cod, leaving everyone she knows behind in West Virginia. When she gets there, she finds out that they are strange people and have lots of secrets.
Melody finds out that her cousin Laura Logan just recently died too in a boat accident. At the Logan's house, her Aunt Sarah thought of her as a replacement of her dead daughter, her uncle Jacob thought of her as the devil's daughter, her cousin May who is deaf always seems lost and confused most of the time, and her cousin Cary, who was the only one that really cared for her.
Her cousin Cary finds her a job with a man named Kenneth Childs, he is an artist and her job is to clean his home and studio.Everyone thinks Kenneth Childs is Melody biological father. In the artist's studio, there is a secret room that is always locked. One day, when the artist is gone, Cary comes over and they get suspicious about the room. They open it by screwing the hinges off the door.Melody is very surprised to find pictures of her mom that Kenneth had drew but Melody doesn't say anything about it.
One day, her grandma Olivia tells her that she isn't her real grandmother. Her real grandmother Belinda, was put away in a resting home by her sister Olivia because Olivia makes everyone believe that Belinda is crazy. When Melody discovers who her real grandmother is, goes to visit her and the grandmother tells her secrets that no one in her family knows about.Later, Melody also discovers that she and Cary aren't really cousins and after they found out, they reveal their feelings and affections for each other.
Suddenly, a surprising accident in the family occurs, her Uncle has a heart attach and decides to tells Melody things about her mother that no one else can know about. Then, one day in a magazine, she finds a model that looks exactly like her mom but cannot be her mom because her mom is dead.So Melody seeks out to find out more about the model that looks like her mom.
The story is very interesting because it tells you how a girl has to suddenly grow up when her mom dies and has no body to go to except her relatives that live in a different city and are practically strangers to her and have lots of secrets. It is very exciting to find out how Melody starts to discover the secrets of her family and how she falls in love with her Cary, a guy that she thought it was her cousin.

3-0 out of 5 stars A rather dull read
This book was rather dull, and it took almost the entire book to let the reader know the identity of Melody's maternal grandfather- we learn nothing else of intrest from the plot. The love scenes between Cary and Melody are a bit much to bear, considering that they are 2nd cousins. But if you consider the fact that no one seems to be upset with the idea that Hallie(Melody's Mom) ran off and married her first cousin we should not be surprised. If you are bored on a rainy sunday, pick this up at a book store.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not enough scares
For a book this long, there isn't that much thrills. It's too much like a soap opera, and Grand. Olivia is way too boring. Most of the book shows her using logic and justification for her lies. Even when Melody visits her real Grandmother in the mental clinic, there was no action!!! But if you want to learn more about the Logan family, then I would read this. Otherwise, skip to the third novel.

5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT!~
Everyone seems to hate the Logans but I like them!

4-0 out of 5 stars Best and Worst of the Summer
Melody has a good job working for Kenneth over the summer.Kenneth told Melody that he and his dad Nelson tried to help her mom Haille make good choices.Kenneth was disappointed that Haille didn't listen to him.I am sure even Samuel wanted Haille to be successful too.Jacob and Olivia had no right to be blaming Melody for their problems with Haille.I was glad when Melody stood up to Jacob and Olivia.Somebody had to.Jacob and Olivia was stressing everybody around them out.Cary needed every hug Melody gave him.It must have made Cary feel better when he knew he didn't have to face his problems alone. When I read about Melody, her character reminded me of a college buddy I have who is a Scott County sheriff's deputy.I hope if my buddy is reading this, he will consider talking with me about the books of my favorite author VC Andrews. Those books could help him with his work while he's questioning others. I could use more time meeting with people like Melody.People like Melody help people who are in most need of help. ... Read more
