Product Description
In July of 1304, Scotland found itself in the tightening grip of King Edward II of England.Central to this struggle, Stirling Castle stood in proud defiance at the headwaters of the River Forth which led deep into the highland strongholds.Throughout Scotland, names like William Wallace and Robert the Bruce found their place in the annals of time as the battle for the Red Lion Flag swept like wildfire through the hills and across the moors. As with all of history, it is often the most insignificant of lives that shine the brightest and are soon forgotten.Though unacclaimed on the written page, these shining many kindle a legacy of fire within the hearts of untold generations to come. The soul of this book was found in one such 'small' life who stood shoulder to shoulder and raised the cry of defiance when silence would have swallowed the land. Her name was Janet Olifant. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars OUTSTANDING!
The View From the Hill was one of the most exciting books I have read in a long time. It's a touching almost love story, an with exciting battle over Sterling Castle. This is a great book for not only the historicalaccuracy, but also for the story behind the action. I would highlyrecommend this book to anyone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Must have more!
After reading Ms. Bluehorse's most recent book, Grandfather's Drum, I searched for other titles by her and found this one - The View From the Hill. While completely different from Grandfather's Drum, I feel that TheView From the Hill is a mile stone in modern historical literature. Elizabeth writes so clearly, so expressively, so beautifully. She is adelight to read - even when her words are bringing tears to your eyes. Elizabeth, we need more or your books!
