5-0 out of 5 stars Never Forgotten
I haven't read this book in years, but I'm going to give it the best review for a children's book I know.I'm 28 years old and I remember this book, not even all of the title, but enough to make me try a search on Amazon.I loved this book in grade school, and checked it out of the library countless times. It ranks right up there with The Dog Hotel, A Word to the Wise, and Wild Horse Running (also grade school favorites, give them a try).

3-0 out of 5 stars Must Read!
Finding just the right book can be like finding a needle in the haystack. This was a dilemma that I also ran into until I found a book title The Animal The Vegetable and John D Jones by Judy Blume (my favorite). When I was reading this book it really inspired me to read because it was so interesting. It was about a girl named Clara and her sister Deanie and their father's girlfriend's son John D Jones. It takes place on a beach. Clara floats out to sea on a plastic raft. Will she die or will she sail back?
The book is a must read! Exciting, interesting, outstanding due to the fact that the reader would not want to put the book because the reader would want to see if Clara would live or not. Or you would want to see if Clara's father and his girlfriend would get married.
If you have never read Judy Blume books you may not know that she has two dogs and she has won many awards. When she was growing up in the Carolinas she didn't want to be a writer but she did want to work at a zoo. Here is just a little note don't put this book down until the end due to the fact that it is boring at the beginning but it gets a little more interesting at the middle of the book. You need to read the beginning because it has to do with the middle and end. So if you get this book I hope you enjoy it as much as I did

5-0 out of 5 stars excitement
This is a trip for Clara and deanie spending their time at the beach with their father having a good time. Their father was at his final divorce and he wanted his time alone with his two daughters.

4-0 out of 5 stars A Review of 'The Animal, the Vegetable, and John D. Jones
This book contains some extremely well-developed characters. It also has an excellent storyline. It is about two sisters whose father is 'dating' a woman with a son-John D. Jones. The girls are very resentful of these newcomers. The sisters feel that John and his mother have invaded their privacy, especially when their father invites them to go on holiday with the family. The girls and John get on very badly. The two sisters are determined to make life for him and his mother as difficult as possible. I will not give away the ending completely but John does something which convinces the girls to give him a chance. I thought that this book was very gripping, as I was worried about what would happen-would the girls drive John and his mother away, or would they brave it? A good read. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars I Love it
My favourite animal is dog, but anyway, this book is the best book I ever read. It is great story, I love the part when the colt flew up on the mesa, and Uncle Coot went to get it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A DUDE EARNS HIS SPURS
A young boy is sent to live with his uncle--a former movie stunt man on a Texas ranch, by his irresponsible mother.Narrated in the first person by introspective Uncle Coot, this story introduces an unusual animal hero: a real but winged colt born to their neighbors. Young Charles grows to love the colt named ALADO (Winged One) and considers his uncle a true western hero.

Alado learns to fly of course, but he endangers himself and causes great trouble for the two humans who are trying to cope with a mythical creature (Pegasus).Charles, the bookworm, desperately wants to prove himself a cowboy like his uncle; they both must sort out their feelings for each other and for Alado. Can a freak of nature survive in this modern world of exploitation and greed? An interesting and enjoyable book for readers of all ages. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Past time favorite...
I have talked about this book to my 13 year old daughter for 2 years, but I never could remember the cats name...I just remembered it was The Gypsy Cat. I am so relieved to finally have found the book again. When I was my daughters age, this was my favorite book! I am now 43 years old and I never forgot how much I enjoyed the story. I can't wait to buy it for my daughter now!!

This cat led an adventurous life and it was interesting seeing another view of the world from the perspective brought in the story. It made me want to travel and see the world!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best Book Ever
I thought this book was really a good book. It let you look at the world through a cat's eyes and really gave you the chance to know what it was like to be another person, or in this case, animal. It let you know thatanimals thoughts and feelings. And the book was really adventurous, too. Rama the Gypsy Cat learned alot of stuff living with the gypsy woman asthey traveled. He met a lot of other people and animals along the way, too. I think this book should get five stars because Rama the Gypsy Cat is thebest book ever. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Suprise Visit
I really like the book Bingo Brown's Guide to Romance. The book is about Bingo's love Melissa. Melissa lives in Bixiby, Oklahoma far away from Bingo. Bingo has decided to write a book called Bingo Brown's Guide to Romance which he has decided to dedicate to his baby brother, Jamie. Bingo writes in the book mostly every day but usually has nothing much to writeabout until one day, he sees Melissa at the grocery store. Amazed, Bingo'sfirst questions are, why didn't she tell me she was coming? And, is thatreally Melissa? Because to Bingo she seems much bigger. When Bingo knowsthat it really is Melissa and he sees her, he doesn't know what to say. Whydidn't she tell me she was coming, he always wonders. This book is so goodthat you won't want it to end, my friends that have read it say. I agree. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars The Outcast
I recently discovered this book and read it in two days, pacing myself. It's about a young girl named Anna Glory who was the only non-singing member of a family of gospel singers. I can relate to this because myfamily sings gospel too but I don't because I get stage fright and don'tfeel as talented as the rest. She was also underappreciated; nobody reallynoticed her presence, which is how I ofen feel. But an unexpected personfrom the past, Uncle Newt, showed up for Anna. She had a kinship with himbecause he was a convict that the family despised. Together, these twooutcasts saved the rest of the family from death. This wasa..well..interesting portrayal of a family. The twin boys, who one wouldexpect to be really close, always played tricks on each other. Mrs. Gloryfavored the oldest child, a girl nicknamed "Angel". Mr. Glorylost the "joy of religion" the instant he exited a stage. Not avery Christianlike family. As Newt said, Anna was the best of them. Ireccomend "Glory Girl" to anyone who feels as if they don'tbelong or count in the world.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book is action packed and good for a rainy day.
This book is about a girl whose family is in a band except for her becauseshe doesn't have talent. She has to sit in the back and sell tapes. She is a middle child and never gets any attention. I like this book because ithas a suprise in every chapter. It's also good because it relates to life. It has a good ending. ... Read more
