Es Dios femenino?
En este libro se abre la posibilidad de que Dios sea femenino. La vuelta al matriarcado en el principio de las cosas. Muy bien llevado. La lectura es entretenida y aporta información que nos hará pensar en mas de una ocasión.

Enjoyable story, though not one of Coelho's best works.
I enjoyed this story very much. I love Coalho's clear and direct style and his focus on the human struggle. The book was not as emotionally impactful as many of his other books, so if you haven't read Coelho, I'd recommend starting with a different one, such as The Alchemist or Eleven Minutes.

The Power of Choice
Another fine novel by Paulo Coelho.We find the struggle of temptation, between good and evil, light and darkness.A dying village is asked to choose between losing their soul or sacrificing the soul of another to provide the riches necessary to save the village.The stranger in their midst is also struggling with the same elements of his own soul, as is the protagonist, Miss Prym.Underlying all of this is a village with a history of conversion, choice and the legend of St. Savin and the conversion of Ahab.In the end, we realize that Good and Evil struggle within every soul, and we have the ability to choose.Saints can be sinners and sinners saints given circumstances - it is up to us to control and choose our fate.

Evil verses Good
The theme of evil verses good is explored in a way that really makes you reflect on how we ourselves conduct our lives. Evil is such a strong word and we certainly do not wish to be associated with it, but it asks of you where you may have been evil in some small way. Coelho is always challenging us in our own world, it is just that it is done in such a subtle way as a fable that we can just read it as such. But is that all there is to it or is there that challenge to explore our own lives? Very well written and very engrosing.

Mark Twain does it better
I love Paulo Coelho's books but I must admit this is not one of my favorites. It's a decent book but it lacks in many ways. The characters, thought process, and even originality.

If you like the premise of this book, then I suggest you read "The man that corrupted Hadleyburg." by Mark Twain. It's much shorter than Coelho's version and the idea is better developed. You can read it here for free:

Most people either love Paulo Coelho's writing or absolutely hate it.I haven't seen many who have straddled the fence on this author.I'm in the former category, though I know quite a few people who don't care for him at all.While some believe his writing is too simplistic, I, on the other hand, sometimes crave simplicity!I do quite a bit of heavy reading (though not recently), and it's nice sometimes to curl up with one of Coelho's books and know that I will probably read it in one sitting.I also believe his 'simple' books have a much deeper meaning to them, and this story is also indicative of that.

One day a stranger comes to Viscos, an idyllic mountain town.The stranger has a plan to tempt the villagers with some gold.They only have to do one thing to get the gold, but that act is contrary to the basic character of the town's residents.There hasn't been any trouble in the village for years, and when Miss Prym, the local barmaid, is told of the plan, she is confident the villagers will be able to withstand the temptation.

The story raises the question of whether humans are generally good or generally evil, and also why God, if there is one, would allow evil things to happen to good people.

Realmente compre este libro Basado en los reviews o comentarios de los demas,
El "ARQUIMISTA" se base de o el autor se enfoca en tres Pasos:
1- Un Pastor
2- Un Oasis
3- Un Arquimista
hay libros que te dan deseos de seguir al proximo capitulo, este te da deseo de terminar rapido para salir de el capitulo que estas y ver si encuentra algo interesante en el proximo.

Que me gusta la tema general- la de seguir los sueños- pero solamente cumpli leyendo este libro por fe de que no todos podrian estar equivocados sobre El Alquimista.HACE CONSTAR:
Sí.Estan Todos Equivocados (menos ellos como "Eli").
Este libro defina cliché.La trama no tiene nada que ver con "alquimia" cualquier significara este termino.En lugar de algun sentido de magia (como se presenta en libros como Harry Potter) este libro se impregna con un sentido meta-religioso que a veces cita a la Biblia Sacra, pero mas frequente acerca a un nocion de auto-deificacion.Enfatiza la santidad de la naturaleza y las "señas" que nos puede dar.La mezcla resulta absurda.En manos de un autor mas diestro, quiza podria yo involucrarme mas con esta tipa de espiritualidad, pero Paulo Coelho (por lo menos en su version del libro espanol) no es este autor.
La unica cosa que puedo decir en favor de este libro es que es facilisimo para leer. De verdad soy hablante primeramente de ingles, y un estudiante EEUU.No tuve que consultar mi diccionario ingles/espanol ni una vez.Entonces, verdad que si seas un estudiante nuevo de espanol podras leer El Alquimista con exito pero probablemente con ganas de arrancarse los cabellos tambien. Worth reading.
I've listened to the book in English (in the shape of an audiobook) and read it in Spanish. It was great in either language. The book is not too long, and it is told using simple language, meaning it will not take long to read the entire work which is good for a quick read or something you do not want to invest too much time on. The narrative is simple to understand as well as the ideas, this does not mean that the story is dull or dumb by any means. There are things that the reader can learn from the characters in the work, and the reader can sometimes identify with the character in the story.

Paulo Coehlo is one of my favorite authors with The Alchemist being my favorite book.I am sure that Brida is another fantastic work, however, I do not speak Portuguese and the pre-order that i received was not translated to English.Be careful when ordering to select the appropriate language.

"Lovely, awesome book"
I totally loved this book!!!Brida is an Irish young woman, who like Santiago, the Alchemyst, is also in search of her personal legend!!!She had to follow her heart!Although it was scary at times she pursued her destiny, she wanted to be trained in the Wican tradition!She found a teacher from the tradition of the Sun, and another from the tradition of the Moon, she learnt what she had to learn from both of them!!!
A story about reincarnation, and soulmates, and about the women who were midwives and healers and were accused of being witches and were persecuted and killed, some time ago!!
I think this is another masterpiece of Paulo Coelho, I read it in Spanish, I wish this book is translated to English some time soon, so it'll be available to more people to read, I'll definetelly read it again!!!

Este es el mejor libro que he leído, Coelho usa un lenguaje simple, facil de entender.La historia de Brida puede ser la historia de todos nosotros(al menos en ese libro pude leer mi historia),como dice otro lector, es un libro para los que creemos que necesitamos a nuestra otra parte para alcanzar la felicidad total en nuestras vidas.Si todos buscaran sus sueños sin importar lo que diga la sociedad,si todos pudieramos vencer nuestros miedos,nuestra noche obscura, y seguir nuestro corazón,nuestros sentimientos en lugar de encasillarnos en una rutina y dejarnos llevar por la corriente del conformismo, este mundo sería diferente, si pudieramos decir no a la rutina y salirnos de la monotonía de la vida para buscar las respuestas a nuestras preguntas, si supieramos entender la diferencia entre el verdadero amor(nuestra otra parte)y la costumbre de estar con alguien, encontraríamos la felicidad eterna que todos deseamos.

I also really liked how the book described Coelho's transformation after his pilgrimage on The Road to Santiago, and what he hopes his books accomplish. La Bruja de Portobello
Me gusto mucho la manera que el autorpresento la historia de Athena, la protagonista.Son sus allegados que nos la cuentan desde sus diferentes puntos de vista. Athena en busca de respuestas, nos lleva a conseguir algunas de nuestras propias preguntas. Es una lectura que cuando la comienzas, se hace dificil tener que dejarla, no deseas detenerte.Lecturas asi, son inspiradoras y nos abren un mundo diferente. Gracias a Paulo Coehlo!

Estoy un poco desepcionada con el libro... honestamente esperaba mas de Paulo Coelho. Todos los libros anteriores me han encantado pero este no se le falto entusiasmo, la manera en que esta escrita no me gusto y me tomo un poco de tiempo darle el interes. No tuve emocion en leerlo... so fue un libro ok... creo que es la manera en que esta escrita que le quita el interes, son relatos de todos los que conocieron a la bruja de Portobello (athena). Aun asi adoro a Coelho... y espero que escriba algo que me mate de emocion la proxima vez :P

Nothing new... Paulo got stuck on the Alchemist....
I have read many books from Paulo Coelho, hopping for something new, but it seems like he has not been able to move on since he wrote The Alchemist.Every single book after that, points to the same esoteric or spiritual concept.It's basically a new story, with the same meaning between the lines.
Once you have read one of his books, feel free to say I have read them all...That's all I can say.

Paulo Coelho has a way of writing that is simplistic in it's words, but deep in meaning."The Witch of Portobello" does not falter from this description.I have to say that when I began reading, I had to read, and re-read the first few segments.I didn't understand what the author was trying to do.But, once I found the rhythm of his words, it was all I could do to stop reading.

This book touches on a woman outside the "normal realm" of society.She tries to find herself in different ways, and touches people in the process.This story is written from their prospective, and is a very different way of learning a story.

It's OK
It's amazing how things change, 10 years ago I thought this book was interesting, I never called it great but now reading it again exactly 10 years later it makes me realize how much I've changed.I was a bit disappointed because I actually was expecting to like it perhaps a bit more than the first time I read it, but to be honest I found this book a bit pretentious the second time around.

Item description not accurate
This is a great inspirational compilation of Cohelo's work, I am glad I got it; but this is actually volume 2, which I didn't know was out, I was looking for volume 1 as a present for my brothers.The item description does not state it is "Palabras Esenciales II", that is the only problem I had since I was really hoping to get the original Palabras Esenciales I was kind of disappointed, I like the original much better, but it is a good book as well.

Great Book and Supply high on customer service

Wonderful Experience!
Paulo Coelho - And, it has been a wonderful experience reading Alchemist and later, The Fifth Mountain and Like the Flowing River:Thoughts and Reflections. While the book narrates his experiences down the time, his writing is indeed poetic which brings in hope and joy to the soul. This book is an intimate collection of the Author and powerful short stories of life and spirituality - speaking of life, destiny, love and more. When I met the Author online through his writings, it had been pleasure placing him as a Columnist and reading his books and articles became my passion. Some of the titles covered in this book which I like most are:

Learn the power of flowing river
I should not have expected too much from this book. It was below my expectation. 10% of contents are very good but other 90% are just-so-so or even some of them might be added for volume. The subjects or themes are a little bit poorly organized. If Mr. Paulo Coelho wrote this book using strategic thinking by focusing on several key topics and by categorizing similar topics, it would be one of best books. Though, I appreciate 10% which will be remembered for the time being.

Wonderful and Inspiring
Paulo Coelho is so down-to-earth yet wise.I picked up this book while travelling in Germany.I started to read the start to get an idea of it and simply couldn't put it down.As I read more, I decided that I wanted to share it with my family so I looked online and realized that it hasn't been published in a lot of countries yet.It seems like a coincidence that I happened to buy it when I did, and especially at this point in my life.
It's compiled of many short stores (only 1-3 pages each.They are mostly his life experiences and the experiences of people he has met through his life.It is a wonderful book, I find it gives me hope, makes me think, and fills me with serenity.Although some bits are a tad too religious, I have found it overall truly magnificent.

Powerful, Entertaining, Transformative
An autobiographical account of Coelho's own initiation and discovery along the road to Santiago. The book itself is an interesting read for the storyline alone - and the discussion of the perils of the journey, the experience and the lessons learned are worth the read. As always Paulo Coelho's writings are entertaining, easy to absorb at that level, and flow well.

Wonderful Book, Un libro Excelente, que te motiva y es bueno leerlo si se puede diario una de sus frases

Could be a pamphlet
The message is great, the writing is fine, but the book in general left something to be desired. Cheap paper, bad printing, and large type make it look and feel like a cheap paperback dressed up in it's big sister's clothes. Making money while he's still famous? I think his message is worth more than this cheap paperback with a hard cover.

Very good book for self improvement
I have not finished to read the book, but I am satisfied with what I have seen.
