Product Description
Ron Dakron's fourth novel is an update on the world's oldest novel. Petronius' Satyricon, with a twist. In Satyricon, the protagonist can't get aroused; in Mantids, the hero can't get rid of his arousal. Combine his Viagra overdose with mutant female praying mantises and a scuzzed-out, speed-tweaking Astoria, Oregon setting; add biting comedy and a warrior heroine and stir into a B-movie plot stew and you have a classic Dakron comedic science fiction-horror novel, filled with sardonic prose and more fun than a barrel of junkies. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A must for humor readers seeking something with a twist
Insects were never thought of by anyone as 'sexy'. "Mantids" takes a look into the love life of the mantis, and a certain male of the species who can't seem to get enough due to a certain pill a human misplaced. Making no acclaims to being highbrow, Dakron draws from many sources in order to provide his readers with a side-splitting adventure that'll give anyone the much needed laugh they deserve in life. Product Description
A young woman geneticist perfects a medical serum made form both human and shark DNA. In her hurry and ambition she skips biotech protocol and tries the serum on herself. But a mistake has been made - instead of shooting up a fraction of shark DNA, she's popped the entire hammerhead genetic code. Oops. Hammers is a comic novel about people turning into sharks. Set in a modern biotech city, it follows five characters as they mutate and fight for dominance, sex and a reliable source of fresh squid. Hammers is a classic transformation tale in the genre of Kafka's Metamorphosis and Mary Shelley's Frankenstein. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars is this for real?
granted, I only read the first two pages on [...], but that was more than enough for me. three lines in, and the point of view is already off ("ain't we gonna quit soon?" his friend asks, to which he responds "what?"-- if he's asking 'what' because he didn't hear him, then he can't possibly relay to us what his friend said in the first place)

even the punctuation is consistently incorrect.

"jesse laughed, newborn autumn slashing his pink misted lips, like some flamingo clown"

"Jesse flicking retinas over the road, salami black tar smoothing gelato pupils, he asked [...]"

like. ok. the words are fun and sound kind of neat, but you can't just pull out interesting words and smash them together and hope that it will mean something. i love White Oleander (Janet Fitch), and the insane similes and descriptions. but... these just don't make any sense.

on a positive note, I feel much more optimistic about someday being published!

5-0 out of 5 stars Happily Sucked into the alter "Infra" Reality
Totally digging it.The pacing, the mystery - not just the plot, but the emotions and perceptions of the protagonist. Palpable texture and raw poetic phrasing.Rod Dakron has bona fide style.Infra is a great escape for all senses. ... Read more

Product Description
A Carribean woman loves a Seattle sculptor. Their romance should end with slurred Daquiri kisses. But there's this little problem. Someone else wants her- the guy in the aqua Thunderbird. The color of his ride clues her who's driving. Her first lover. Someone related. Ron Dakron's novel Newt delves into incest, racism, ecstatic art and the true evil of the color aqua. Using techniques of cubism and parallel time, Newt evokes doomed love through a terse, poetic prose. ... Read more
