This article provides information about L'Engle's most notable characters. In a family tree chart first published inside the front cover of Many Waters (1986, ISBN 0-374-34796-4), L'Engle divided her major characters into categories she called "chronos" and "kairos", two Greek terms for different concepts of time. The stories of the Austin family take place in a chronos environment, which L'Engle defined as "ordinary, wrist-watch, alarm-clock time.". These are presented in a primarily realistic framework, though occasionally with elements that might be regarded as science fiction. Kairos, the framew...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=8686176 ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Letters from L.A.
A collection of short stories that visit, not so much the main characters, but the supporting characters Bret Easton Ellis have so brilliantly created in "Less Than Zero", "The Rules of Attraction", "American Psycho", and "Glamorama".We find out more background information -even if only very minimally- about these characters by visiting them before (in time) we are introduced to them in Bret Easton Ellis' Novels.

"The Informers" is a wonderful read. Each story is told through a different narrator, so you feel the disconnected world these wealthy, "yuppie-ish", twenty-something year old, disdain kids in 1980's Los Angeles have created around themselves.

*A must read for any Bret Easton Ellis fan.*
