4-0 out of 5 stars Beautiful
Gibran is mystical, poetic with a truly wonderous way of expressing. How can anyone know Jesus and yet Gibran surely did? I see Gibran as a mystic who had the ability to tap into Universe and bring us and bring us thoughts that would otherwiase not be available to us. whether you believe in Jesus or not it is a beautiful book that has much to offer that is profound and deep.
Dr Gunta Krumins-Caldwell author of On Silver Wings

5-0 out of 5 stars Jesus, the Son of Man, A poetic masterpiece
While Kahlil Gibran's The Prophet is most beautiful and true, his treatise
on Jesus is poetic and is written as though he interviewed each one of the people who knew and loved the man, as well as though who feared and hated him.The words he quotes are as new and expressive as though they had been said yesterday.Gibran loved Jesus and understood what loves and hates and angers Jesus had to deal with in his short thirty years of miraculous living
on this earth. This is a book to keep and treasure and to renew an appreciation of this Son of Man. ... Read more

Product Description

This collection of thoughts by Kahlil Gibran, author of "The Prophet", "The Broken Wings", "The Voice of the Master", and other twentieth-century classics, demonstrates three major aspects of his genius.

Here is the fiery prophet, assailing the corruptions of Syrian governmental and upper social circles with the wrath and scorn of Biblical seers.

Here, too, is the poet of love, apostrophizing beauty, youth and nature, particularly the wonderful vistas of Lebanon, with its cedar groves and mountains, in poetry of passionate tenderness.

And above all, here is the author of the remarkable poetic narratives in which Gibran's mystical, spiritual vision of the transmigration of souls is embodied in tales of lovers tragically parted in one existence and rapturously reunited, after centuries of separation, in a later incarnation.

The spiritual message of the great Lebanese prophet and poet is conveyed with exceptional beauty and power in these sensitive writings.

In search of the "truth", Gibran could find no single religious tradition which completely revealed its intention. Thus he wove together insights from Eastern Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, American Transcendentalism, and the folklore of his native Lebanon to create his own universal "Anthem of Humanity"--which is this superb selection. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars A Deep Friendship between Two Writers
"A friend who is far away is sometimes much nearer than one who is at hand."

"Love Letters" is a collection of Kahlil Gibran's letters to May Ziadah. Unfortunately May's family did not want her letters published so we are left to imagine what they may have contained. Reading her responses would have made this book all the more interesting. From Gibran's letters we get the sense that he is lonely and unhappy and wishing for this soul connection between them to deepen and expand. Writing May seems to make him happier if only for a few moments. In his letters he admits to his profound longing for his homeland. He also says: "of all people you are the nearest to my soul".

Kahlil Gibran also invites May to visit him and talks about wanting to visit her. Apparently they never met and only continued their friendship in letters. It was interesting to see how Gibran first started signing his letters "Yours Sincerely," then "Your True Friend," then simply just "Gibran." So while we can't get a clear picture of how May felt it seems she was angry at him a few times and Gibran mentions enough information from her letters to give the reader a casual view of who May really was.

To be honest this book does not portray her as being consistently friendly and as it goes with most friendships there were times of discord. I would not say these were "true" love letters in the sense that two lovers were writing each other about their desire. The only desire apparent is for a deep soul mate type union, which seems to have been found by two Lebanese writers.

Product Description
In a distant, timeless place, a mysterious prophet walks the sands. At the moment of his departure, he wishes to offer the people gifts but possesses nothing. The people gather round, each asks a question of the heart, and the man's wisdom is his gift. It is Gibran's gift to us, as well, for Gibran's prophet is rivaled in his wisdom only by the founders of the world's great religions. On the most basic topics--marriage, children, friendship, work, pleasure--his words have a power and lucidity that in another era would surely have provoked the description "divinely inspired." Free of dogma, free of power structures and metaphysics, consider these poetic, moving aphorisms a 20th-century supplement to all sacred traditions--as millions of other readers already have. ... Product Description

Finding inspiration in both the old eastern practices and the simplicity of everyday life, this guide explores accepted philosophical conventions, including projecting the prophet’s vital experiences onto another person, such as Nietzsche did with Zarathustra and Plato with Socrates. The opening metaphor also explores a well-known tale—that of the man who, at the time of his death, decides to return to the place that he saw at birth, passing on he communicates his teachings and instructions before he leaves.

Product Description
Kahlil Gibran (1883-1931) was a Lebanese American of Assyrian descent, an artist, poet and writer. He was born Gibran Khalil Gibran in Lebanon (at the time a Syrian Province of the Ottoman Empire) and spent much of his productive life in the United States. While most of Gibran's early writings were in Syriac and Arabic, most of his work published after 1918 was in English. Gibran also took part in the New York Pen League, also known as the "immigrant poets" (al-mahjar), alongside other important Lebanese American authors such as Ameen Rihani ("the father of Lebanese American literature"), Mikhail Naimy and Elia Abu Madi. Gibran's best-known work is The Prophet, a book composed of 26 poetic essays, first written in English in 1923. The Prophet remains famous to this day, having been translated into more than 20 languages. Other works in English include: Spirits Rebellious, (1908), The Broken Wings (1912), A Tear and a Smile (1914), The Forerunner (1920), Sand and Foam (1926), Jesus the Son of Man (1928), The Earth Gods (1929), The Wanderer (1932) and The Garden of the Prophet (1933). ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Must Read for Christians
Khalil Gibran's writing style is mind-blowing.He has such a way with language.Reading this book gave me goosebumps - you can really feel another perspective on the bible stories you already know. This book is filled with such passion and soul, it's an awesome read.Forget all this light mindless fluff, this book is a must read.

5-0 out of 5 stars Charming Piece of Fiction
This is a charming little fiction book in which various people from the life of Jesus comment. We have Mary Magdalene commenting on her first meeting with Jesus, Caiaphas telling how Jesus needed to be killed,John the Baptist talking about their plot, Judas' mother telling us how much she loves her son, then asking us to go question Jesus' mother, etc.

Of course, this is not an historical account of Jesus' life, and Gibran makes many errors in the book. Jesus wasn't born in Nazareth (it didn't even exist when he was born), Jesus was the disciple of John(rather than the other way around), etc. But put your scholar hat aside and just sit back and enjoy the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars A soul companion of a book.
This book warms your soul, as you read about aspects of Jesus' life heretofore unknown as seen through the visionary and prophet, Khalil Gibran. Khalil Gibran takes us through a miraculous collection of stories of the life of Jesus as seen through the eyes of the various people who knew him, including his enemies. It's a noble perspective of an ancient time, and helps to put Jesus into our hearts and minds. It can be read in a day, but never forgotten.

Mr. Gibran has begets a master piece . His splendor writing style is amazing and the eloquent use of the words are moving force which forever will be a guiding light for our souls.
