Product Description
A BOOK YOU CAN WRITE IN! This is not only an exciting fun filled story. It's also a motivational tool that gives a child an "I CAN DO IT" outlook on life. The reader gets to name the main character as well as where the story takes place. By letting the child interact in the book, it will increase the chance of them learning more than they would from just hearing or reading a good story. Within the book there is an empty space for the child to write the name of the bird. This happens every time the birds' name is mentioned. Also there is a blank page for every chapter that the child can draw on if they choose. Follow the little bird born without the ability to fly as he learns about life. Be with him as he meets other animals and learns how, like people, everyone is unique in their own way. See his courage and bravery as he goes against the odds to do something no other bird has ever dared to do. He strives to enter the race the land animals have in the fall. The land animals have never let a bird enter the race. See his determination to enter the race and bring change so in the future it will be acceptable for other birds to race as well. All children are special and have something to give. It's our responsibility as adults to draw out their strengths, giving them every resource available. "I read to my daughter every night, but I have never read her a story as fun & inspirational as A bird that couldn't fly. This is a story I want my child to read over & over again." Author / Teresa Hawker ... Read more

Excerpt:Alan Shearer OBE , DL (born 13 August 1970) is a retired English footballer . He played as a striker in the top level of English league football for Southampton , Blackburn Rovers , Newcastle United and for the England national team . He is widely considered as one of the greatest English strikers of all time, being both Newcastle's and the Premier League's record goalscorer . After retiring as a player, Shearer now works as a television pundit for the BBC . Toward the end of his playing career, Shearer worked towards gaining the UEFA Pro Licence , and expressed a desire to eventually become a manager . In 2009 he briefly left his BBC role to become Newcastle United's manager in the last eight games of their 2008 09 season, in an unsuccessful attempt to save them from relegation. A native of Newcastle upon Tyne , Shearer made his professional debut with English top-flight club Southampton in 1988, scoring a hat-trick in the process. During several years on the south coast, he became known for his classic style of play, strength and goalscoring ability; he soon received an international call-up along with a transfer to Blackburn Rovers in 1992. Shearer established himself as a player in northern England; he became a regular in the England squad, and his 34-goal tally helped Blackburn secure the Premier League title in 1994 95. He was named Football Writers' Association Player of the Year in 1994 and won the PFA Player of the Year award in 1995. The 1995 96 season saw Shearer make his first Champions League appearances ... ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Homer in England
An extremly well produced book with many high quality illustrations of Homer's work and with many contempory colour photos of the the same scenery today. This is a refreshing change from those books that are all text with many repetitions of the same illustrations. In so many art books the text is just filler but in this book its actually very readable. A great value to anyone interested in Homer. ... Read more
