5-0 out of 5 stars One of my most favorite books!
When I read this book I could not put it down!!Never ending action and adventure with Cluny the Scorge and his hoard of rats battling the Redwall Abbey.I read this book any time I had a chance.I think it has two greatthemes to it, never give up and nothing's impossible no matter how old youare!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Very Good Book Just Wasnt Jaques best
The book had a good story it just didn't do what most of Jaques' books do which is have one story at redwall and another about a group of warriors or travelers on their way to or from Redwall.

5-0 out of 5 stars These books are GREAT!
I have read all the books in this series from Mossflower to The long Patrol! I love this series! I am amazed at how Brian Jacques is able to write all the stories and poems. I also like The Great Redwall Feast.

5-0 out of 5 stars Brian Jacques' first book in a series of a fantastic world.
This is one of my top five favorite books of all time. The world Jacques creates is astounding, and he never lets you leave. This book pushed me towards reading more years ago, and the continual storyline keeps it going for years to come.

5-0 out of 5 stars ONE OF MY FAVS

Product Description
What if revenge were a monster of your own creation? If all you needed to summon this monster was enough hatred and enough imagination? Which of you would really be the monster? One boy is about to find out.

The New York Times bestselling author Brian Jacques (Loamhedge; The Angel's Command) spins six all-new tales of horror and suspense. Read on, but be careful of what brews in your heart. You may just find yourself the next victim of the Ribbajack. . . .:Amazon.com Review
Self-described "scalawag" Brian Jacques (venerable author of the beloved Redwall series ) sets out to spook young readers with six scary (but, of course, not too scary) tales, steeped in a mulligan stew of folk fables, ancient myths, and horror-flick fiends.

The star of the sextet is undoubtedly Jacques' eccentric style--his diction, humor, and unmistakable brogue--which (in context) shouldn't give young readers too much trouble, and often makes for very-fun reading besides: "No, sir, I h'arrived too late. But I knows me rats, sir. If the h'Oriental chap says that's wot 'appened, then I'll back 'im h'all the way." Kids, of course, figure prominently in each story, too--whether as protagonists or as more scurrilous lads and lasses getting their well-deserved comeuppance. One such schoolboy causes much mayhem in the book's first (and by far best) story, in which an aspiring scoundrel named Archibald Smifft summons an occult creature, the Ribbajack, to do his evil bidding. Other stories riff off various other creepy creatures, from werewolves to ghosts to even Medusa, usually with some winking moral woven in by Jacques.

Some of the tales (the title story and "Miggy Mags and the Malabar Sailor," in particular) pack more punch than others, but there's more than enough fun here for a few late-night, flashlight reads. (Ages 9 to 12) --Paul Hughes ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A master of short stories as well!
I'm normally not a fan of the short story, especially when it comes to the adolescent light horror genre.I thought I would give this book a try, however, since the author is one of my favorites. He did not disappoint.

While the setting for most of the stories is modern, each of these is told in the tradition of the old folk tales. In other words, it is not just stories for the sake of chills, but rather each story has its own moral to share.

My favorite among the stories concerns the graffiti artist who decides to deface a museum that happens to be hosting a visiting display from Egypt. You can pretty much guess who the characters are gonna be, however, Jacques brings a fresh twist to the story that I wasn't expecting.

Another great story concerns the thugish kid who, on a dare, visits the local graveyard at midnight.Again, while the concept is old, Jacques manages to bring a new twist to the story. There are several other good stories.

I recommend this book as great for campfires in the summer, or sitting around the fireplace during the winter. And, as usual with Jacques, he keeps things clean so each of these stories can be told in the family, church groups, scout outings, and other organized youth activities. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Bally Good 'ole stuff, wot wot!
I adore the Redwall otters, and this is a whole book about them! Ah, I love it. I've purchased both the American and British editions of this and both of their cover art looks AMAZING. I especially love the job Fangorn did on the UK edition. If I had to describe this book in one word...it would be...Astounding! The action starts in the beginning with this one and it lasts throughout the entire novel. Brian sure didn't dissapoint any fans with this one :)

5-0 out of 5 stars Brians Best Book (one of)
Awsome book if you like the Redwall serries.Brain Jacques is one of my favorite authors.I love how he can juggle three plots at the same time and make them all come together in a happy ending.

4-0 out of 5 stars A great installment in the redwall series
A stunning novel, once again by Brian Jacques. He never fails to capture me as a reader. My favorite books have been by Jacques. I started off with the roots of this extensive series and read "Redwall", and as I was pleased with the results, I continued and read "Martin the Warrior". However, "Taggerung" is by far my favorite. The characters are really quite interesting. By far my favorite being Nimbalo the Slayer, a fierce mouse warrior who is brave beyond belief, as he faces numerous enemies that are many times his size. And to boot, Nimbalo has quite the ego.

And as usual, Jacques describes the environments explored throughout the story with the utmost precision. Every nook and cranny, every twig and pebble, not even the slightest detail goes unnoticed.

And the plot was also quite well written. Each book published by Jacques comes with a new and fresh storyline. The only reason I made this 4/5 and not 5/5 was because I thought the plot seemed slighty, ever so slighty, resembling of some of the previous books, with all that talk of a mighty soldier foretold in a prophecy and all.

5-0 out of 5 stars One of the best books ever written!
The Redwall series is one of the best of our time. It's bursting with fun & danger. I will look forward to Jacques next book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Our family is now totally addicted to Redwall!
I originally ordered the first Redwall audio book out of curiosity. Welove to listen to stories and books and had read so much about these booksthat the audio version immediately appealed to me. My oldest (10 1/2), whois usually the last to get involved in our listening, was so wrapped up init that I had to force him to eat! He was extremely frustrated to be lefthanging at the end. I had to order the other two immediately in order tocurb his withdrawl. Now all three of my boys (the other two are 9 and 51/2) are hooked. Each now has a Redwall poster in their rooms and are ofteninvolved in creating their own Redwall-like fantasy stories. It has donewonders for my older boys' creative writing. We now have the writtenversions of the remaining episodes. My oldest is reading them now. Weanxiously await any more audio installments!!! By the way, the wonderfulvariety of accents only make it all the more outstanding listening!

5-0 out of 5 stars EXCELLENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Redwall books are the best books I have ever read. I have read every one. The Pearls of Lutra,The Long Patrol, and Mattimeo are the best!
