"Will not be easy to put down," raved Booklist. "The Great Hunt suggests that [The Wheel of Time] will be the definitive exploration of Tolkien's territory for many years to come. Jordan can spin as rich a world and as event-filled a tale as the master."

In this second part of the tale after The Hunt Begins, Rand al'Thor-- reluctantly drawn into the quest to recover the Horn ofValere--must face something even more frightening that the Myrddraal and Trollocs: his own true identity.
Can Rand really be the Dragon Reborn?

4-0 out of 5 stars If The Great Hunt Was A Chocolate Bar...
...Would you want all of it, or only half? And would you pay the same price for either choice?

It's true that the splitting of the books is meant to attract a younger audience, but I still don't see how it can really work. Splitting it in two merely makes two halves of a whole. The reading itself is no less difficult, and no less lengthy. I understand that it may make the size seem less... daunting... but making the books two parts instead of one just "doubles" the length of the series. There won't be double the words, pages, or chapters, but there will be double the number of volumes within the series if this is done with all the books. And seeing as the marketing behind this seems to be based on the fact that young adults DO judge books by their covers, well then, these "half" releases just trade the look of a longer book for the look of a longer series. It doesn't seem like it would be worth the investment of the reader OR the publisher. Do the math. Around seven bucks for each of fourteen paperbacks, or about six each for what would end up being around twenty eight paperbacks? Hard choice, I know. Yes, that was sarcasm.

That being said, the Wheel of Time books are great. I'm already on my second read through. The first time around I quit reading once I got to the eighth book (The Path of Daggers) because I grew lazy. Plus I was entering high school. With a lot of homework. So now I am again almost done with the seventh (A Crown of Swords), and I can't wait to continue. So, all in all, I'd say The Great Hunt is indeed Great, as are all of the others I've read in the series.

Just get The Great Hunt, not this mini-me munchkin of an installment, and I'm sure you'll be happy.

4-0 out of 5 stars For the serious collector or younger reader.....
What can I say about the story.....it's Jordan; the books are definitely worth it for the cover artwork and periodic inserts alone. If you have children you want to turn on to WOT ("piecemeal" epic with artwork is easier to digest), or just a complete the collection, go for it.

Unfortuantely, the whole series is not broken down this way, so you may fel cheated. The same goes for the comic series.

5-0 out of 5 stars WARNING
The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, Book 2) is the original second book in the Wheel Of Time series. It is an excellent book, and I would recommend it to anyone interested in an enormous fantasy series.

This book is merely the SECOND HALF of The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, Book 2), if you already own The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, Book 2) DO NOT buy this book. Why it was ever released is a mystery to me, someone is probably trying to make more money from the series.

If you already bought The Hunt Begins: The Great Hunt, Part 1 (The Wheel of Time, Book 2, Part 1), which is the FIRST HALF of The Great Hunt (The Wheel of Time, Book 2), then you should buy this book, otherwise, ignore it.

These stellar authors return to their compelling and rich fantasy worlds to tell new stories that enrich and illuminate their most famous creations. Stories by Terry Goodkind, Tad Williams, George R.R. Martin, and Robert Jordan cast new light on their famous epics. Others, such as the tales by Stephen King, Terry Pratchett, Orson Scott Card, and Anne McCaffrey fit into the already established patterns of their worlds, but happen offstage from the main action.Amazon.com Review
Acclaimed writer and editor Robert Silverberg gathered 11 of the finest writers in fantasy to contribute to this collection of short novels. Each of the writers was asked to write a new story based on one of his or her most famous series, and the results are wonderful. From Stephen King's opening piece set in his popular Gunslinger universe to Robert Jordan's early look at his famed Wheel of Time saga, these stories are exceptionally well written and universally well told. The authors include King, Jordan, and Silverberg himself, as well as Terry and Lyn Pratchett, Terry Goodkind, Orson Scott Card, Ursula K. Le Guin, Tad Williams, George R.R. Martin, Anne McCaffrey, and Raymond E. Feist. This is not only a great book in and of itself, but it's also a perfect way for fantasy fans to find new novels and authors to add to their "to read" lists. --Craig E. Engler ... Read more

The first book in an outstanding anthology series. Each short novel of this volume is worth the price of the book, and you get them all.

If you like any of the authors here, this is a MUST own.

Wonderful stories to fill in on most of my fave authors and introduce me to some great new ones.

4-0 out of 5 stars Easy to Get In To
When I purchased this book I did it for the sole intent of reading just one of the stories. However, once I dove into the remaining stories it became clear that you didn't need to know the details and backstories to thoroughly enjoy the entire book.

4-0 out of 5 stars Not Free SF Reader
An interesting experiment with what seems to be a big money anthology of highly popular fantasy (or SF in the case of Pern and Majipoor) universes, and novellas.Good for me, as I had not read any of Stephen King's Dark Tower before, for example.

The stories range from George R. R. Martin's excellent Hedge Knight to one of the worst pieces of writing I have had the misfortune to read in a big money publication, that of Terry Goodkind.

All in all, an experiment that it is worth taking a look at.

Product Description
In 1990, the National Science Foundation recommended that every college mathematics curriculum should include a second course in linear algebra. In answer to this recommendation, Matrix Theory: From Generalized Inverses to Jordan Form provides the material for a second semester of linear algebra that probes introductory linear algebra concepts while also exploring topics not typically covered in a sophomore-level class.

Tailoring the material to advanced undergraduate and beginning graduate students, the authors offer instructors flexibility in choosing topics from the book. The text first focuses on the central problem of linear algebra: solving systems of linear equations. It then discusses LU factorization, derives Sylvester's rank formula, introduces full-rank factorization, and describes generalized inverses. After discussions on norms, QR factorization, and orthogonality, the authors prove the important spectral theorem. They also highlight the primary decomposition theorem, Schur's triangularization theorem, singular value decomposition, and the Jordan canonical form theorem. The book concludes with a chapter on multilinear algebra.

With this classroom-tested text students can delve into elementary linear algebra ideas at a deeper level and prepare for further study in matrix theory and abstract algebra. ... Read more

Product Description
This book examines the most turbulent period in the history of Jordan's ruling house, the six years following the assassination of the kingdom's founder, Abdullah (1951-1957). Those years witnessed the country's lone episode of weak monarchy, when the king--the novice Hussein or his ill-starred father, Talal--was not the preeminent political actor in the land. Rather, it was during that time at the regime was left in the hands of a mix of Palestinian, Transjordanian, and Circassian royalists who had never before wielded executive authority inside the kingdom. Based on exclusive interviews and newly released archival resources, this book traces the only two royal successions in Jordanian history: the eleven-month reign of the little-known Talal, and the early years of King Hussein. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars From Abdullah to Hussein
For nearly six years, from the assassination of King Abdullah in July 1951 to King Husayn's declaration of martial law in April 1957, Jordan went through a hair-raising process of monarchical and political transition. Those years witnessed "the short, unhappy reign of King Talal," his succession by the seventeen-year old Husayn, the near-drowning of Jordan in the swirling currents of Pan-Arab nationalism, and the eventual "Hashemite restoration" which has lasted to the present. By combing the archives, reading the published sources, and interviewing many participants (including King Husayn), Satloff has with outstanding skill pieced together the first reliable history of that turbulent period. As his title implies, the story is mostly about personalities; by bringing them to life, the author infuses his analysis with verve and interest. Satloff holds that by the time Abdullah died, his kingdom had been transformed from the simplicity of "old Transjordan" into a rather more complex polity, one in which the king relied on a small, select cadre of politicians and doers. Husayn first asserted his independence from those "dinosaurs" (most notably, by firing Glubb Pasha) and chose to steer the shoals of ideology (which at one point endowed him with a foreign minister whose overriding passion was to eliminate an independent Jordan as a step toward Arab unity). But, in the end, Husayn returned to his grandfather's ways, looking to the "king's men" to help him sustain a Hashemite monarchy in a most inhospitable environment.

"The Civil War, by Robert Paul Jordan, is part of the seemingly limitless series of books put out by the National Geographic Society. This particular volume is better than most. It combines a thoughtful popular history of the conflict, part narrative, part travelogue, with the lavish illustrations we expect from the National Geographic Society. The illustrations are a lovely combination of Civil War-era photographs, etchings, and paintings, coupled with more modern photography, graphics, and a few paintings commissioned especially for this publication.

The scholarship in the narrative, first published in 1969, is certainly a little dated. However, it gets right the key events and provides a good sense of the nature of the cataclysm that was the Civil War."The Civil War" is highly recommended as an introduction for the general reader not concerned with the latest editions of history. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars very good with a surprising twist
Unlike Frankie, I didn't catch onto the twist until it was revealed. (Maybe I'm slow--lol) I've never read a story like this and it is definitely unique on its own. Simon/Scott basically is a sort of demented Robin Hood. Instead of stealing from the rich to give to the poor, he kills them. I won't give anything else away, but as others have said, the book is fast-paced and doesn't waste time with filler chapters. The only downsides are the punctuation and occasional grammar errors (I majored in journalism & minored in English so I'm anal about those things), but I think this book is self-published. If a big publishing house with editorial resources took a chance on this author, they would not be disappointed.

4-0 out of 5 stars Unusual and enjoyable suspense novel
A seven-times murderer who kills those whom he considers to have too much in the way of the finer things of life - he calls them "richies" - is finally caught and sentenced. But instead of being tossed in jail forever he is offered the opportunity to undergo a new and unique rehabilitation technique, which, if it succeeds, may see him back in society in six months. There is a downside - a slight chance he may die in the process. Naturally he takes the offer.

IVRRAC is an unusual and enjoyable suspense novel, something a little different from most suspense novels. Not quite Sci-fi, more just advanced technology. And the setting is gorgeous - a fictional mountain and lakeside town that is modelled closely on one of New Zealand's most popular resort towns.

Although the writing style is somewhat stilted at times, the book is an easy read. Unfortunately there are a few typos, but the formatting is good.

5-0 out of 5 stars Not to Miss
I heard about this book on the Kindle forum and at first glance thought that it was not in a genre that I normally read.
I downloaded the sample of this book first, and was so intrigued that as soon as I reached the end of the sample, I downloaded the book.
Don't even bother with the sample, get the whole book, you will not be sorry.

My one complaint is the fact that I guessed what was going on from the airplane ride but that is my fault and not the authors. Even knowing what was going on did not in any way intrude on the enjoyment of the story and it didn't prepare me for the ending.

This is a book that you do not want to miss.It is fast paced and will make you take a look around you in a new light. There is a minor amount of profanity, but it is placed where it should have been. There are times when "gosh darnit" would just not been true to the character or to what was happening to them.
I can't tell you much about the story without giving something away.

I can tell you that it is the story of a man, Simon, who has killed seven people. He is brutal and quite frankly, insane, but what happens to him is unexpected and shocking. Every character in this book is well developed and you will find yourself knowing all of them by the end of the book. You will feel what they are feeling and sometimes find yourself talking to them as if you know them.

Don't hesitate to buy this book, IVRRAC, you will not regret it.

Waiting for him is the War of 1812. The British are attempting to reclaim the Colonies and the White House is in flames. 5-0 out of 5 stars The Fallon Pride
I purchased this book, because I bought a book which must be read with this book. Excellent read und story. If you like to read a good book this is it.

3-0 out of 5 stars Not as good as the first book in the series
I read the first book in this series, The Fallon Blood, and liked it well enough. I've read Robert Jordan's Wheel of Time series, and enjoyed them hugely, and so when I found this series, I had high hopes for it.

Like I said, the first book was generally good, but this second book is too long and grew boring by the end. Normally I enjoy the fight sequences of Jordan's other books (and there are plenty in this book as well) but I ended up skipping most of them in the Fallon Pride, especially near the end of the book.

Robert Fallon is certainly a flawed character, as was his father in the first book, but I found Robert's flaws so aggravating that I was unable to like him. Yes, he is brave and patriotic and risks his life for his country, yet he sleeps with nearly every woman he meets and shows a remarkable lack of ethics. When he proposes to the woman he will soon marry, she asks, "Will you chase other women?" He responds that he will do so only if he thinks she will not find out. When she asks if he will beat her, he says, "Only if you deserve it." And Jordan expects us to root for this guy?

If you're bored and desperate for reading material, this is an okay read. If you have other good books to read, though, don't bother with this one. And if you read it, check it out from a library. Don't buy it.

4-0 out of 5 stars A good read, but not quite as good as The Fallon Blood.
After reading The Fallon Blood (which I found to be excellent) I had high hopes for The Fallon Pride.Unfortunately I was a bit dissapointed. This book just didn't grab my attention in quite the same way the first book. This is strange because I actually found the characters in this book to be even better than in the first book.Particularly Miller, Kemal, and Robert. Also though, Catherine was one of the most enjoyable characters to hate that I've ever encountered.I think a little more should have been included in some secondary characters, such as Tomas Martin, Karl Holtz, and Jasper Trask, but I guess you can't always include EVERYTHING you want in a novel.

One aspect of the book which I found really irritating was the complete idiocy of every other American in the book besides Robert.Especially concerning the American politicians and generals.Whereas the first Fallon book gave me valuable insights into the begginings of our country and inspired my pride of America, this book had the opposite effect. While there was still a good amount of history, I never felt like I really knew what was going on in the country except for the Fallons' personal drama.

Overall, I think that 4 stars is a generous rating for this book, and maintain that the first of the series is much better. While the Fallon Blood was educational and interesting, the Fallon Pride was dramatic and pointless.

3-0 out of 5 stars A good effort, but not great.
Robert Jordan has a fantastic grasp of American history, and this book displays that knowledge in an entertaining way.Readers will learn a great deal about the federalist period of American history whether they like thebook or not. Nevertheless, Jordan looses control of the storyline in thissequal to the Fallon Blood. the incest issue was ridiculous, and it had nobusiness being in the book, and main fictional character's relationship tohistorical people and events were way to contrived for belief. The worstexample was Robert Fallon's visit to Washington City. In a single day, heconfronts Madison, Monroe, Burr, Hamilton, Jefferson, and Dolly Madison! It was fun to read, but super hard to believe. The main Fallon character ofthe first novel in the series met up with some famous historical figures, but they were few and far between. The second book has them growing ontrees.

The Fallon characters were also a little too"Conan-like" as in the first Fallon book. The women are stunningand starving for sex, the Fallon men are macho and superb in fighting, thevillains are decadent and evil.

My guess is that Jordan was so pleased bythe acceptance of his first book that he simply became careless in writingthe second book. All that being said, The Fallon Pride is entertaining toread and you will learn many new historical facts about early America.

4-0 out of 5 stars Jordan/O'Neal books
I collect books written by this author. This book completed my collection. I was very pleased with the condition of book.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not Robert Jordens best work.
Not as good as the first 2 books of the Fallon series. Unlike the first 2, that showed the build up and then how a Fallon took part in first the revolutionary war, and then the war of 1812. The Fallon legacy leads up to both the civil war and the battle of the Alamo, but never gets into them. Also the book leaves allot unfinished. Let me put it this way. If the wheel of time ends the way this series does, the dark one will be set free, Mat will still be trying to get the daughter of the nine moons to marry him, and Rand will be wondering if now would be a good time to save the world. Oh and a forsaken will be waiting in the next room to kill him.

Over all this was a let down. I'm really glad that RJ dropped this series and wrote the wheel of time.

5-0 out of 5 stars The best of the trilogy
In the Fallon Legacy, the story concentrates mostly on James Fallon, Robert Fallon's long lost son.The story takes you through James' adventures in the Texas frontier.Amidst much excitment and adventure, Robert Jordan is able to provide the reader with an extraordinary amount of history and culture from the Mexico/Texas region. The characters in this book are awesome. Some of the most loveable and hateable people I have ever read about. The Fourrier family continues to haunt the Fallons all the way up to the last chapter of the trilogy, but the Fallons are once again able to persevere, although with some heart-wrenching losses.
.

While the adventure and romance of this novel were very entertaining and fun to read, the best thing about the book, and indeed the whole trilogy, is the fresh perspective that it provides on the history and the culture of America 200 years ago.Books like this help to preserve our heritage.

4-0 out of 5 stars A glimpse into history
The struggles and hardships of the revolutionary period and beyond are masterfully captured between robert jordans bookcovers.A story of a family that stems with importance but not to much to be mentioned in our histroybooks, a stragegy thats as complicated to preform, but done so as not toquell the importance of the book.A book so flowing with intrigue anddanger, the only dissapointment that it had was that it had to end, oruntil the sequel arrives which will be waited for inpatiently.

5-0 out of 5 stars Awesome, But don't make a movie
Robert Jordan is a thrill a minute writer with incredible wit, but no movie could ever capture what Jordan writes. ... Read more

Product Description
Webster's bibliographic and event-based timelines are comprehensive in scope, covering virtually all topics, geographic locations and people. They do so from a linguistic point of view, and in the case of this book, the focus is on "Robert Jordan," including when used in literature (e.g. all authors that might have Robert Jordan in their name). As such, this book represents the largest compilation of timeline events associated with Robert Jordan when it is used in proper noun form. Webster's timelines cover bibliographic citations, patented inventions, as well as non-conventional and alternative meanings which capture ambiguities in usage. These furthermore cover all parts of speech (possessive, institutional usage, geographic usage) and contexts, including pop culture, the arts, social sciences (linguistics, history, geography, economics, sociology, political science), business, computer science, literature, law, medicine, psychology, mathematics, chemistry, physics, biology and other physical sciences. This "data dump" results in a comprehensive set of entries for a bibliographic and/or event-based timeline on the proper name Robert Jordan, since editorial decisions to include or exclude events is purely a linguistic process. The resulting entries are used under license or with permission, used under "fair use" conditions, used in agreement with the original authors, or are in the public domain. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Seroiusly Now....
As a mature(37) reader of Fantasy adventure, and a long time die-hard fan of Robert Jordan's works, I am extremely disappointed with this calender series of art. Yes, I was one of you that preordered..A few of the months are impressive, and the remainder look like run-of-the-mill computer graphics, similar to snapshots from a,ahem, 2004 video game. It appears as a last minute scramble and submission, in order to squeeze a few more dollars from Us Jordan fans.

I have a hard time understanding why Jordan's wife and marketing agents did not browse through Dragonmount or other WOT based web sites to find artist renditions of this soon soon-to-be-classic and legend...... I myself have collected a compilation of these brilliant and beautiful displays of WOT love. Some are extemely acurate to various scenes. Why wouldn't the Jordan machine seek to engage some of these talented free-hand artists? Your guess is as good as mind.

Even Darrell K. Sweet's works appear somewhat sloppy towards the end of the series. How horrid is the sketchy Winter Heart, Knife of Dreams and The Gathering Storm anyway?!?! It looks like Perrin is becoming a dwarf, and Rand goes from tall, strong and cold to a light-weight, teenage, croaking duffuss. The perspectives and size relationships are askew.Come on!!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars perfect transaction
This was a gift for my son. he loves the illustrations. Fast shipping and good price!

5-0 out of 5 stars A Perfect Gift!
I bought this for my wife's birthday and she absolutely loved it!The art is top-notch and the extra notes and details in the calendar bring a smile each time to you notice them.

3-0 out of 5 stars Decent product but a bit of a let down.
First of all, this calendar do not have professional artwork, the pictures are WoT fan art. Some of the pictures in this calendar is really good, like the January picture of Rand, others are just some mangled digital art that anyone with a 3D program could have done better. I think there is enough good pictures in here to make the calendar a decent buy for a Wheel of Time fan, but it is not a collection of great masterworks. The profit from this product do go to a good cause, and all in all it is a decent product, but not more than decent. I was disappointed by many of the pictures.

1-0 out of 5 stars TOR's illustrators are whack
