Product Description
The poems in Kiss, Kiss aspire, with feistiness and wit, to isolate, reclaim, memorialize, and reexamine those significant but ordinary longings, daydreams, people, and locations we too-often take for granted: a pheasant hunt, a bowl of oranges, a trip to a waffle house, "the fish shuddering / at the end of the neighbor's / nylon line," "yellow butterflies hiccupping / through air as beautifully / as answered prayers," and "Aunt Avis, silly goose of an aunt, / doing bicycles on our bed to show us / how to speed into heaven." Using the South's lush landscapes -- a Carolina lake retreat, a grove of magnolia trees -- as their settings, these poems, in a crisp and accessible voice, celebrate family, talk frankly about loss, desire, and healing, mourn for those no longer with us, and find, in the mundane, that which is truly marvelous and transcendent. Linda Lee Harper's latest book is a vital contribution to the literature of a distinctly 21st century, easily recognizable South. Why these poems? Writes Harper, "The sun will burn itself out / and the only thing in a hurry / is me, painting it all in // as fast as I can / before the sun blinks / and day vanishes almost / like an image on plasma screens // failing to erase completely, digital / ghost, visual echo, intaglio, light." ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Harper Lee book
I loved the book even though it is not authorized by Harper Lee.
Good service.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not a gift item
I ordered the book as a gift, but when I received it I was very disappointed. It was well crafted, but less than 60 pages and didn't provide any additional information to what is readily available that I could determine. I didn't feel that it was worth the price, nor did I think it was gift quality so I returned it. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Good reading , good buy.
To kill a Mockingbird has been one of my favorite books since childhood, so now that I'm a mother I wanted to pass it on to my daughter. Being my native language spanish, my husband and I agreed on making our childrenbiligual, so we read to them in both languages...it was a very nicesurprise to find this book translated to spanish and to findalso that ithasn't lost as much as other translated books, the words and the sense ofthe phrases are translated as exact as possible to the original novel whichmakes the reading very worthy. The size of the book makes it reallyconvenient and the price of it too.
