Product Description

Two-time Newbery Award-winning author Lois Lowry brings a brand-new, beautiful diary to the Dear America series!

Suddenly orphaned by the Spanish flu epidemic in the fall of 1918, eleven-year-old Lydia Pierce and her fourteen-year-old brother, Daniel, of Portland, Maine, are taken by their uncle to be raised in the Shaker community at Sabbathday Lake. Thrust into the Shakers' unfamiliar way of life, Lydia must grapple with a new world that is nothing like the one she used to know.

Now separated from her beloved brother, for men and women do not mix in this community, Lydia must adjust to many changes. But in time, and with her courageous spirit, she learns to find the joy in life again.

Since she is separated from her beloved brother -- for males and females do not live together in this communal village -- Lydia is forced to adjust to the restrictions placed upon her once carefree, creative spirit all on her own.

5-0 out of 5 stars I'm going to read these again..
I loved these books when I was a kid...I'm 37 now and every so often, I like to revisit favorites from my childhood. These books are well written, the heroine is brutally funny, has a big heart and is intelligent as hell. I think girls in particular are sometimes afraid to come off as "too smart" but not Anastasia...I could relate when the teacher didn't understand her poem and gave her an F for thinking outside the box..this happened to me frequently growing up!

5-0 out of 5 stars A 11 year old girls point of view
Anastasia Krupnik has a poem writer dad, a painter mom, a 90 year old grandmother, and A BABY coming. Her older parents have told Anastasia that she has a healthy baby brother on her way and she gets to pick the name. This book was great for me and probaly good for your picky reader, too. This mini series is a realistic fiction miracle. It's like it fell out of the sky to purposely come into my hands to entertain all preteen girls.

4-0 out of 5 stars Anastasia Krupnik is a great book
(My mom, JaneLovesJesus, wouldn't let me review this before I'm done with it. I read it with her except the 11th chapter, but she also read it herself, so it's OK I didn't read the last chapter with her.) You can call me StoryMaker because that's my nickname and we got Anastasia Krupnik from the library as the hardcover edition. (Please note that I'm talking about hardcover. You might be viewing this review thru another editon. That's because amazon.com groups different editions together. The pictures are very different in different editions according to amazon.com. Please note!) It's a great story about a 10 year old girl who has a notebook with lots of stuff and she made a list of things she hates and things she loves in it. It shows you the lists at the end of each chapter. At the end she crosses out everything on her things I hate list except liver. She's a kid who dosen't like to eat liver. Anyways, it's a great story and is sad in all the chapters with her grandma but something I do not like is it dosen't follow a storyline very well. I mean, each chapter is like a new day. The storyline of this book is a storysquiggle. Other then that, I love this book a lot! Get it from the library. If you think it's great, buy it. It may not be the best for boys, but I am a girl so I don't care. Did I forget anything? Nah! I said the plot, I said it's great. What else is there to say? It's awful? Oh, c'mon, this is a positive review! It dosen't care if you don't like it. This ismy opinion! Nothing wrong with having a different opinion, but this is my review. Oh, and, the family in this story is having a baby and Anastasia picks out a name but I think she changes the name at the end. I'm not sure, but I think that's what that text means. Signed, StoryMaker. "Gotta trust the kid's review!"

5-0 out of 5 stars Grew up on these
One of the major moments in my childhood came when I read that Myron Krupnik kept his poetry manuscripts in the crisper drawer of the fridge so they wouldn't burn in a fire.My father (also a poet, also an English professor) did the exact same thing.I vaguely remember jumping up and down on my bed and wanting to move to Boston.
Buy these for your child, even if you're not a poet. They're wonderful. ... Read more

My 6 year old daughter loves to have "Gooney Bird" books read to her.We listened to this book on the audiobook collection. All the Gooney Bird stories are great. This is the best of the four. In this story, each day the second graders learn another form of poetry. On the final day they are to make a "poem of many voices" but they discover they have asubstitute teacher since their teacher's mother has died. The poem the children create to honor their teacher's mother is touching and beautiful. 5-0 out of 5 stars GREAT BOOK
This was purchased for me to read with my therapy dog to two 5th and 6th grade classes, and they loved the exert I read for them.In addition they were each given a copy to take home for the holidays to read themselves. It is a lovely story about surviving and making the most of whatever you have in life.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stay!Keepers Story
Stay Keepers Story was an AMAZING book. It is a great book for ages 10+. I really enjoyed it; my dad did too. I love this book because it is about a dog. I love dogs!! Keeper in this book is the narrator!! I thought that was pretty cool. The author that wrote this book really put a lot of thought into this novel. The dog in this book has a great sense of humor. In this book the dog Keeper changes his name 3 TIMES!! Lucky, Pal, and Keeper.Keeper firsts starts out with 3 other siblings, but they all were taken by a family. So Keeper was all alone.Keeper was always the best with his sister Whispy. So Keeper went to go find her, and his journey began.

4-0 out of 5 stars Stay Review by BcMiricle
I loved this book!!!! It was great with an extreme ending and an exciting base! You can't put it down but I had to put it down when my Mom said time for bed! When I finished it, I still wondered what happened next to Keeper. Stay is a story about a dog that tells his own story. Keeper gets seperated from his family and is owned by many friends. This dogs life is almost perfect except one thing. I recomend this book for ages 10 through adult. Read the book to see what happends to Keeper!

5-0 out of 5 stars Stay! In the Life and Style of a Poetic Dog
This book was a very enjoyable pleasure for me to read because it is a funny fantasy about a poetic dog who had a variety of names such as Lucky, Pal, and then finally, Keeper.Keeper had many happy experiences and some not so happy with his companions. His care givers were Jack, Emily, Emily's mom, and Christopher (the photographer). All his life, no matter which of the people he was living with he always had a gift for poetry. He was fond of his sister, Wispy, and his tail.Although he was usually a happy, friendly canine, he had a rival who he despised. His rival's name was Scar.I was enthralled with this book because it leaves you hanging and with an idea - (Are dogs really this poetic and brilliant?).

4-0 out of 5 stars Stay Review by Yancovic
Do you ever wonder what a dog's point of view of the world is?
In Stay Keeper's Story you can find out!!!This intersting novel will tell you the story of an abandoned dog on a mission to find his sister and to defeat his enemy,Scar.I would recomend this book for ages eleven and up. One aspect of the book I did not like though was that the vocabulary was extremely sophisticated. ... Read more

Sam, a young child, is looking for a present for his mom.He decides that the is going to make his mom some perfume. The first thing that he has to find is a jar to put all the stuff in.He already has a problem finding that, so he has to ask his sister. Then he listens for his mom to say what kind of stuff she likes and then Sam goes and tries to find it.Sam puts everything from homemade chicken noodle soup to water from an aquarium. His sister is also trying to make a gift for their mom but she decided that she was going to write a poem.Every now and then she goes to Sam and reads it to him and Sam helps her change it around to make it sound better. One day while Sam was going to his neighbor's house he saw a box that had kittens in it.Sam looked at the kittens and then finally decided that he wanted one, but Sam didn't tell his parents that he got it.To keep it a secret Sam kept it in his room and didn't let anyone come in.Sam's dad and sister were all making homemade gifts because thats what Sam's mom had said that she wanted.

5-0 out of 5 stars A hilarious and entertaining concoction!
I found "ATTABOY, SAM!" a great book! It was funny, entertaining and was written exactly how a 4-5 year old would see the world. Sam was hilarious, along with his preschool troupe. I recommend this book to anyone who wants a good laugh! Even if Sam's concoction(or perfume) didn't turn out great, it's funny how he goes about it!

5-0 out of 5 stars Purrrrr-fume!
I read the book Atta-Boy Sam. It's a story about a little boy named Sam who is 4 or 5 years old, and it's his mom's birthday. The store ran out of her favorite purfume Sam wants it to bethe best birthday ever so he decides to make a home made purfume!Sam pays extra attention to what she likes the smell of.Sam's invention starts to bubble, so Sam gets scared and hides it. POP! I think this is a good book because it's rather cute and funny, like when Sam puts chicken noodle soup in his invention. The 'Sam'and 'Anastasia' books I can never put down because they're just so interesting.

5-0 out of 5 stars Attaboy, Sam!!!!
This book can be reviewed in one word: funny!!!! It's tottaly cute!!!! Sam tries to make his mom a homemade birthday present, perfume, using herfavorite smells, including baby sent. (He used a baby wipe - USED - by ababy!) You've gotta read this! :-)

5-0 out of 5 stars For Young and Not-So-Young!
I read this I believe about 10-12 years ago,and although at that time, I was approaching my late thirties, I loved it! I found itlaugh-out-loud funny at times, really! The way Anastasia "talks" throughout the story is riotous! She is very witty, and sharp. Her impressions, and observations of those around her are entertaining, at the very least! She is like a miniature adult,as is her little brother Sam.I especially enjoyed Gertrude Stein, and the reference to Art Garfunkel! What a HOOT! I think you will really enjoy this book...The characters, the humor, the "dramas" that beset this utterly charming young girl will make you want more!

4-0 out of 5 stars An overall good book leaves us wanting more
Anastasia Again is the sequel to Anastasia Krupnik, and the prequel to Anastasia, at this address, Anastasia at your service, etc. Anastasia Krupnik is upset when she learns she has to move with her parents to the suburbs. The only way she will accept the move is if she can live in a tower. When her parents FIND a house with a tower, she has no choice but to accept the move. With her faithful goldfish Frank, this book makes you want to run out and buy the next book. I give it 4 stars.

5-0 out of 5 stars Such a sweet story
This is one of those books that should win a Newbury Award Medal because of the character development. The friendship that Anastasia develops with the neighbor lady is wonderful, as well as Sam, but I will save that surprise for when you read the book. It has another one of Lois Lowry's beloved twists of plot that surprises you. Plus, it has all these great jokes about what suburbs are supposedly like. If you like Anastasia, you MUST pick up this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anastasia Again Book Reiview
Anastasia Again is about a girl that is in the 6th grade and moves to the suburbs. She moves because her apartment is getting too small since her mom is a painter and needs a studio and her dad is a writer and needs bookshelves. Anastasia is 12 and her brother Sam is still a baby. Her father Mr. Krupnik asks what everybody wants in their new house. Anastasia said, "how about a tower for my bedroom". She thought if she asked for something so outrageous she would not have to leave her home and her friends. To Anastasia's surprise, one day they went out to look at the new house and there was a tower on it where Anastasia's room was going to be. They moved in and Sam saw a lady next door and said that she looks like a witch. Anastasia is curious of what Sam saw because she did not believe him. She goes over to the neighbor's house to see if she really does look like a witch. Sam wants to go so they go over there with the excuse to get a pitcher cause their mom wants to make ice tea. So they go over but Sam hid behind a bush at the front door. You'll have to read the book to see what happens next.

5-0 out of 5 stars Never letting this one go...
I was probably about 9 when I first read this book and I immediately loved it.I have no idea what made me decide to read it, as I had no experience with adoption and it doesn't seem like the type of thing I was reading at the time.Perhaps it was because it was by Lowry and I'd already fallen in love with some of her other books (The Giver, Number the Stars).

I was absolutely fascinated by this book.I was constantly borrowing it from the library until my parents bought me my own copy when I was in 8th grade.Honestly, I was convinced that there would be a note in the front confiding that *I* had been adopted, but no.

At that young age I would have never imagined that several years later I would be in the position to make the difficult decision of placing my own child for adoption.Funny how things work out.

Unlike the story, I am so grateful that my son will always know of his adoption and of the love his birthfather and I have for him. We've thought of him every day for the past 6 years, and we'll be here with open arms if and when he wishes to meet us.

It's been 16 years now since I first read this book and it still has a special place on my shelf and in my heart.

i loved this book it was very good. The beging was kinda boring but it got better in the middle. It was great!I think this book reflects on people our own age because it tells about a girl named Natalie Arnstrong who looks for her real parents becasue she was addopted.!Also getting ready for college! She has 3 friends that they tell about the most in the book, And they are,Gretchen Zimmerman,Becy(who they never tell what hher last name is),And her boyfriend Paul.Natalie was addopted. And so was her litle sister. But over the summer before college Natalie wants to go on a trip. The trip is to find her REAL parents. Her addopted parents don't know why but she does. i think u hsould read more about this book to find out the rest! But over all this book was great.

5-0 out of 5 stars Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye
Lois Lowry is a great author! She has taken a common plot and put colorful characters into the story which makes you want to keep reading all the way to the end.Natalie's journey is so compelling and you want to see her succeed in her efforts but not be disappointed.Everytime I read a book by Ms. Lowry she grabs ahold of my attention and keeps me thinking about the book all through the day.

4-0 out of 5 stars Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye Book Review
What would you do if you found out that your mother wasn't your birth mother?
In Lois Lowry's, Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye, Natalie Armstrong decides to answer that question.Natalie has beauty, intelligence, a great boyfriend, and a wonderful family, but her search for her birth mother sends her into a welter of emotions.
The main character of this story is Natalie Armstrong, whose mother, father, and sister are Kay, Alden, and Nancy Armstrong. This story takes place in many places because of Natalie's search, but in Maine and New York in about 1969.
Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye's theme is "following your dreams" and "never giving up."Its genre is a mix between mystery and adventure, and written in third person omniscient.
I thought that this book was pretty good. It's a bit strange at places, which I'll not reveal because it might ruin the book.I'd recommend this book to people who like to read about family. It gives you a sort of comfort and understanding about families, and makes you ask natural questions, but not really anything that'll get you confused.Find a Stranger, Say Goodbye will go by mildly fast, but it'll still be enjoyable.

This book is about a girl named Anastasia Krupnik. She has to choose a career then write a report about the career she chose. I really enjoyed this book beacause the 2 careers she picked is probably what I would pick when I grow up.This book was great!!

1-0 out of 5 stars Boring, lame, and just plain stupid book
This book got on my nerves. I absolutely hated it, and couldn't bare to read anymore about halfway through. If you want a horribly boring experience, go on, read it. If not, stay away from this book. Don't say I didn't warn you.

1-0 out of 5 stars How Boring!!!!!
I think that this book was very boring because all it talks about is Anastasia going to modeling school and interviewing a bookstore owner in Downtown Boston for a school project.Characters in this book are Anastasia Krupnik and Henry Peabody. They both went to modeling school and became best friends.I do not recommend this book to anyone unless you want to be seriously bored.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anastasia's Chosen Career

Her dad, Dr. Krupnik wants her to own her own bookstore. If you read this book, you will learn that Anastasia has many funny adventures and meets new friends.Like riding the bus into the city by herself and meeting Henry Peabody. To find out if Anastasia will be a model or a bookstore owner you should read this book.Take my word for it this book is funny, but you make the decision.

I read this book when I was maybe 7, and though I was ready to hear the message this story conveyed, (I was a very avid reader) I am not sure other 7 year olds may be. However, aside from the age warning, I can find no fault with the book. I adore this book, which has led me to adore Lois Lowry, and I truly can say this book emotionally changed my life. And to you fault-finders, in a GOOD way.

1-0 out of 5 stars Spoiler alert...
I agree with the other 1 star review - not appropriate for under 12, even though it says appropriate for ages 9-12.The main character's friend dies when a mentally unstable man slits his throat (although the murder is not described in detail when it occurs at the end of the book). Please know that I love Lois Lowry, and have read many of her wonderful books!

4-0 out of 5 stars A tricky one
As everyone else here says, this is a very tragic story. While the book is beautifully written, and the characters very well-drawn, the ending is upsetting and could disturb younger readers. I read it when I was too young for it - I ended up with terrible nightmares and even now I would not read it again. The ending really is a hideously violent surprise. I recommend parents read this book before giving it to their children. Due to the subject matter this book really is best suited to older children/teens, but due to Lowry being so popular with younger children (for Sam, Anastasia etc) there is a high likelihood that some children will read 'Autumn Street' before they are emotionally ready. ... 3-0 out of 5 stars Not the best Anastasia book, but still a fun read...
Now 13, Anastasia Krupnik feels that her life has suddenly gotten weird. Nothing's really changed -- her parents and three-year-old brother Sam are just as they used to be -- but somehow, Anastasia's filled with embarrassment just thinking about them.

Determined to get to the bottom of things, Anastasia insists on getting a therapist ASAP. When her parents refuse, Anastasia takes matters into her own hands -- quite literally, when she's at a garage sale and a plaster bust of Sigmund Freud falls on her. Anastasia takes him home, thrilled to have not only a therapist, but the world's most famous.

To top things off, Anastasia' friend has given her two gerbils, which she decides to use for her science project. Before long, Anastasia's got ELEVEN gerbils -- which she's got to hide from her mother, who was squeamish enough about the idea of two...

While this book is funny and smart, like all the Anastasia books, it's not the best in the series. Lowry always writes the character and her family well, but the plots in the book seem largely recycled from countless other books for readers in the same age bracket.

3-0 out of 5 stars not one of the better Anastasia books
This book, though it had some funny parts like all Anastasia books, was not as good as some of the other ones. Anastasia, though she seems really mature at times, in this book, seemed really immature. I mean, talking to her pretend analyst--come on! There were other parts that were immature, which I won't get into. She doesn't seem like a 13-year-old but more like a 10 or 11-year-old in parts. I am also tired of the racist views in these books, including this one. Anastasia doesn't believe a Chinese person can be named Stanley. She is so naive. Doesn't she know that Chinese Americans usually have American names? Also, some parts were just plain gross! But you will have to read it to find out. If you are a fan of Anastasia books, this should still be added to your collection. I recommend Anastasia At This Address, as that one is much better and even funnier.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anastasia...funny girl that one
Anastasia is sure she is going insane so she buys a big statue of Freuds head and talks to it every day. This is a fantastic series, highly recommende buy moi!!(Now,what they decided to do with the gerbils at the end...was that really revenge on Nicky,or was it cruel to the gerbils!!)

4-0 out of 5 stars GREAT

I agree that gerbils are poorly mistreated in this book. I will not recommend it to anyone. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars Very cute and funny!
I really loved this book.My favorite part was when he found out that the towel he had was his dads gym towel waiting to be washed.I wouldrecommend this book to everyone!

3-0 out of 5 stars The writing is wonderful but the characters are annoying!
Lois Lowry is one of the best writers for children around, but I find Sam to be one of the most annoying characters around. He is simply too precocious to be at all believable, as washis sister Anastasia beforehim! In fact, all the neighbors are really too clever, interesting, welleducated and understanding to ring too true to me.Maybe there really is aneighborhood like Sam's someplace, but I doubt it.That said, I alwaysread each new Lowry book and do find myself enjoying them, and I'm suremost readers would too.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good theme, some great reads
I love compilation books, and this one is another good read. Because most of the authors are British, I am not familiar with a lot of their writings, but I plan on reading quite a few of them now that I have gotten a taste. And isn't that what compilations are for--I mean besides supporting whatever charity the proceeds of the books are supporting, that is?

All of the stories in Shining On: 11 Star Authors' Illuminating Stories center on teens overcoming whatever challenges life throws at them, and the proceeds of this particular book benefit children's cancer research and treatment.

There are a couple of standouts that illustrate this theme very poignantly. "Humming Through My Fingers" by Malorie Blackman is about a blind girl who teaches a boy to "taste shapes and hear colors," and "Skin Deep" by Rosie Rushton is about a girl who loses her self-identity along with her boyfriend after a bomb disfigures her face.

Two humorous anecdotes made me laugh out loud. The never-failing Meg Cabot's "Allie Funklestein's Rules for Boyfriends" tells the email story of a girl whose pain over her boyfriend's infidelities is eased when she admits to having a crush on her geeky tutor, and Cathy Hopkins' "John Lennon Said..." describe the panicked thoughts of a girl who has no clue what she wants to be when she grows up.

I wasn't a big fan of Celia Rees' "Calling the Cats," and I also couldn't figure out why Lois Lowry, who edited the book, included an excerpt from her novel that was published years ago (A Summer to Die) rather than writing a new story or submitting something from a book in progress.

Overall, the stories were heartfelt, inspiring and easy to read. It's a great book for any summer reading list and provides some deep though on tough issues while still keeping a fairly light tone. ... Read more

Product Description

It's Future Job Day at Sam's school, and Sam knows exactly what he wants to be when he grows up-a zookeeper, just like Zookeeper Jake in his favorite picture book. His mother and big sister, Anastasia, help Sam create a memorable costume-so memorable that Sam insists on wearing it long after Future Job Day has passed and the rest of his classmates are back in their regular clothes. Encouraged by Mrs. Bennett, his teacher, Sam embarks on a lengthy project to teach his preschool class about a zookeeper's responsibilities, and along the way learns just how difficult a job teaching is. As always, the patient and loving Krupnik family stands by as Anastasia's irrepressible little brother struggles with a set of nearly impossible goals. Children will delight in this latest story featuring the precocious and irresistible Sam.

5-0 out of 5 stars Summary and Rating
Section 1- Summary

In my book "Zooman Sam" Sam as the main character is at Krupnik's nursery school. The kids were told to dress up as what they want to be for their job. All the other boys in his class want to be a fireman in his class. Sam doesn't want to be a fireman. Instead he wants to be somebody important.

With the help of his mom and sister (Anastasia) Sam dresses up in a zookeeper's costume. Who would have thought? Maybe the title foreshadowed a lot! Sam's teacher let Sam to tell his class a little something different like an animal everyday. He likes the fun activity that he finds both really fun and challenging! The book was great!

Section 2 - Rate the Book
I rate this book Four Stars (excellent)

I think this book was excellent because it shows what I can't remember what it was like in pre-school! But it was fiction since he isn't "Vibrant" like usual. I recommend this book to kids ages 7-12 that like some fun with a (almost real) pre-school's day.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book!
This was a hillarious comedy of a 4 year olds life. It starts out when his pre-school teacher announces that they will be having a future job day in the upcoming week. Sam decides that he will be a Zoo Keeper like Jake in his Zoo book. His mom makes him a Zoo keeper outfit that says Zooman Sam right on top. His sister Anastasia borrowed some baseball caps of animals from her un-boyfriend. His teacher and he decide that he will wear one cap every day. But when he used every cap in his bag except for the scary ones what will he do?!? Can Sam be a Zoo man forever!?!

3-0 out of 5 stars Read aloud for younger kids
Sam is a preschool boy who doesn't know how to dress for Future Jobs Day.He finally decides to dress like a zookeeper, his favorite character in his book. His mother stitches "Zooman Sam" on a one-piece pajama set of Sam's and his older sister borrows lots of caps with animal mascots for his hat.Since Sam only has time to show his class one hat, his teacher lets him continue wearing a different hat each day, and Sam works to decode the animal names on his hats.Nothing wrong with the story, but I have a hard time seeing how this story would appeal to "9-12 year olds," as the age recommendation above suggests. This book would be best used as a read-aloud for preschool through 2nd graders who are good listeners and don't require as many illustrations.(Another book of this type would be the Russell and Elisa books by Hoban.)

5-0 out of 5 stars Zooman Sam Book Review
Have you ever wondered what you wanted to be when you grow up? Well Sam already has to figure out what he is going to be when he grows up.Sam Krupnik is a preschooler who wants to be something other than a fireman. All the other boys are going to be firemen when they grow up.Sam talks about all kinds of animals while he is wearing different animal hats. After school each day he has to train his dog named Sleuth. That is why Zooman Sam is such a GREAT book. Can he keep talking about a different animal each day?Can he train his dog? You'll have to read Zooman Sam by Lois Lowry to find out.

5-0 out of 5 stars A nice Krupnik reunion - but more Anastasia, please!
Okay, I'll admit that I'm 23 years old.I grew up reading the Anastasia books, and since then I read anything new that Lois Lowry writes.I did enjoy this book very much - it's funny and touching, and Sam is a greatcharacter.I would enjoy reading future books about Sam.But I wouldenjoy reading a brand-new Anastasia book even more.Or, if the newKrupnik-family books will be focused on Sam, please add more"Anastasia!" ... Product Description

Irrepressible Anastasia is in junior high now and participating in the "Values" curriculum through which students learn to make moral decisions. Early one morning she hits the Cambridge streets with her pooper-scooper to walk her new dog. In her half-awake groggy state Anastasia mixes up the two plastic bags she's carrying: one containing letters to be deposited in the mailbox for her mother and the other with her responsible morning gatherings. She's too embarrassed to call the post office to confess and she begins to feel more and more guilty and scared as she notices some intense local police activity in the vicinity of the mailbox. What will Anastasia do?

3-0 out of 5 stars YO!!!!!! BUY IT! BUY IT! BUY IT! YO!!!!!!
Anastasia takes the mail outside while walking her new dog. She picks up a "New York Times" newspaper bag and a pooper scooper just in case her new dog does you know what. She walks down a few streets, past houses, people waving and other stuff. Then she gets the idea of naming the dog Slueth because he sniffs lots of stuff like a detective. When she finaly gets to the mailbox she puts away the mail and walks away. When she got home she felt like something was wrong. She retraces her steps and then noticed that she put the newspaper bag of poop in the mailbox with the mail!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great ANASTASIA..a load of dogpoop
This book focuses on Anastasia trying not to be "wishywashy"(I have a bear called WishyWoshy. And the main plot centres around dog poop and how it saves a mailbox from exploding.Long live dog poop.

5-0 out of 5 stars Anastasia,Absolutely
I liked how funny this book was.I thought it was funny when Anastasia put the bag of poop in the mailbox instead of the letters her mom told her to put in the mailbox which was already late.I was glad this book had a dog in it because I love dogs.I thought it was cool that Anastasia putthe bag of poop in the mailbox right after the guy put the bomb in themailbox.I thought that was cool because then she stopped the bomb fromexploding and she didn't know that.

Anastasia's mother tells her to take the dog for a walkand mail a very important letter to a publisher.Like most peopleAnastasia carries a plastic bag with her to carry her dog's dodo.WhenAnastasia gets to the mailbox she is not paying any attention and puts thedog's dodo inthe mailbox instead of the letter to the publisher that isalready a day late.Anastasia does not notice until she gets home what shehas done.Obviously now she cannot go back to the mailbox and take it out. The next day on her way to school Anastasia sees the police at themailbox. When she comes home from school the mailbox is gone.Anastasiathinks she will be arrested because what she did is a federal offense. This story takes place in the winter a few years ago.I recommend you readthis book because it is a very funny bookand everyone will love it.Igive it 4.5 stars and one great review. ...
