Dynamic Writing On Morrison.
Jim Morrison is one of the most written about performers of rock n' roll and "Mr. Mojo Risin'" stands as one of the wildest, most poetic biographies ever produced on the self-proclaimed Lizard King. David Dalton writes in a rich, feverish style that makes the book just as enjoyable to read as it is to look at. He describes in great detail Morrison's influences such as Jack Kerouac, William Blake and Nietzsche. What we end-up with is an intellecual dissection of Morrison's art, his rise to legendary heights with The Doors, one of the most influential of all rock bands, is described in mythic fashion, which is fitting considering men like Morrison are like Che Guevara, they are the mythic figures of our time in our culture. The is very fascinating when concerning the literary influences that contribute to the great lyrics of classics such as "Break On Through" and "The End." This is significant because it helps understand why the music of The Doors does not decrease in popularity, with a rich literary force in the music, it survives as does good literature. "The End" remains as vital as Conrad's "Heart Of Darkness." Jim Morrison comes off not just as a tragic poet, but also as an artist looking for answers in that which is almost spiritual, he was the first performer in rock who used the concert setting as a seance, as a religious event more than just a fun time. Consider his shamanistic movements on stage and the invoking power of the music in numbers such as "When The Music's Over." Of course, this is lost today in most of Morrison's influence on modern music when you look at bands like Marilyn Manson, Godsmack and Disturbed, even older bands with The Doors influence stamped on them such as Iggy Pop & The Stooges and Alice Cooper are more about the shock viscera than deep poetic journey. Dalton's writing is also intellectual in it's insight, as when he rightfully writes about the conservative landscape being also a breeding ground for monsters and also describes in interesting fashion the 60's and radical art changes that occurred during the era. The true delight of this book is the words, Dalton writes with great poetic prose, describing everything with visceral energy and rich phrasing which is enhanced by the great selections of photographs showing The Doors on stage and individual shots of Morrison dressed all in black leather, looking like a rebel with the heart of a poet. He almost seems prophetic. This is a poetic read and a great tribute to The Doors, their time, their music and their timelessness.

best book on morrison i've ever read
"mr. mojo rising" is the best book on jim morrison to date. if you admire morrison and understand who the man was, you will appreciate the non-academic, poetic nature of this book that paints a picture of jim as a creative but also very human and flawed individual who dug his own hole and yet was still a well intentioned, noble young man full of talent and passion as well as self destructiveness and rebelliousness. although at times i was a little annoyed at dalton's slightly excessive cynicism and criticism, as a whole it strikes the balance perfectly between admiration and construtive commentary, giving the intelligent fan an imaginative rush and a glance into the underground literary/pop rock vision that is all too rare in the literature available about jim and the underlying message of his art. ignore dalton's occasionally arrogant dismissal of morrison's attempt to transcend rock and actually change things, and you will find that no other study of morrison is as penetrating into his motives and the inspirations that formed his attitude to authority and oppositional philosophy of life. a passionate study of a somewhat misguided but nonetheless truly great figure, the like of which popular culture will probably never see again. a must.

No Flowery 60's types need apply
With a deft pen Mr. Dalton cuts through the man-made creation that many of us know as Jim Morrison to expose something more truthful. A tragic figure caught in the idealistic and pretentious 60's, trying to use music to transcend, yet ultimately defined and cliched, trapped in his own celebrity. Not always easy to stomach the book paints a picture of the rock scene and the 1960's far and away from the nostalgic musings we hear on the subject today, the picture the author paints is far more sinister. Yet through it all Morrison's music stands as a testament to his genius, and the often dark journey you take with the author serves the necessary task of shattering the creation that is Jim Morrison. When this was accomplished I felt I had an insight into Jim, a deep empathy and closeness that our pop culture seeks to conceal.

FANTASTIC
This is one fantastic look at Jim Morrison.It really does give you someinsight into the man, myth and legend, without becoming to over-the-top. Not to mention the fact that I learned a lot about other poets thatinfluenced him.Mindful, insightful.It really gives you the blood andguts of the man right in front of your eyes.Go Dave!I wonder what elseyour have in store for us with other rockers of days gone by.

A fresh approach
David Dalton relates the life and death of JM in a style I have found severely lacking in the multitude of other bios.Here the Lizard King is seen through the eyes of an obviously well versed writer.No hero-worshiphere, yet a fair factual account presented in an enchanting language. "Pieces of Osiris" indeed.Not recommended for recent Hooked onPhonics graduates.Highly recommended for any Doors/Morrison fans lookingfor something different or for anyone looking for a simply marvelous andrewarding read. ... Not what I was expecting at all!
Before you pay $30 for this book I would suggest that you check out an actual copy of it first.I figured that I would like it.I like things that are odd and messed up.I don't care what kind of a mind set you're in, some thing just shouldn't be written (or read).I would not recommend this book.

"An American Prayer" vs. "American Prayer" Sanitized
"AN AMERICAN PRAYER" was published privately by Jim Morrison in the summer of 1970 as a limited edition of 500 red leather-bound, cover gilded with title & author "JIM MORRISON", by Western Lithographers (of Los Angeles) copyright 1970 James Douglas Morrison.Jim had recited this publicly in Spring 1969 at poetry readings with his friend who encouraged publishing his works privately, beat poet Michael McClure.The long-form poem first appeared in print as an untitled poem at the conclusion of Jerry Hopkins' Rolling Stone interview of Morrison in Issue #38 July 26, 1969 - Jim's private edition a year later was almost identical.On his last birthday, Dec 8, 1970, Jim recorded three hours of his poetry with friends Frank & Kathy Lisciandro, Alan Ronay, a swedish girl, and a fifth of Irish whiskey presented to Jim by studio engineer John Haeny as a birthday gift."An American Prayer" was among the selections Jim read from neatly typed pages he brought to the session.This recording headlined the posthumous 1978 LP album of the same name, credited to "Jim Morrison, Music By The Doors", along with other recordings from that night as well as another recording session in Mar '69.The CD was released by Elektra in 1995 with a few bonus tracks and a front-cover insert booklet that was a reprint in miniature of the 8-page libretto that graced early editions of the LP - the booklet is illustrated with photos and drawings by Jim, and concludes with the complete lyrics of the recorded "An American Prayer" which is more than 90% of Jim's privately published book with all its primal, albeit crude, imagery intact.The typeset and format is identical to the stanzas printed by Jim.If Elektra had the b*lls to publish Jim's words as written and spoken by him, then Zeppelin Publishing Company did not even have the cahonies - therefore only a 4-star rating from this reviewer.

Words you know.
It is a short book, but the words are as powerful as you know them to be. His words don't define an era. They define a creed. A creed so strong that his albums sell more now than when they were released. His desparity his yurn for people to see the truth as he saw it. I can find myself. I can find myself in the choas of this world through his work. I like this book and his others. Great reading. I am surprised amazon could find it.

An Hour for Magic
This photojournal was a delight.The photos are handsome and pleasing to look at.I especially enjoyed reading the stories and escapades of JM and his buddies; they captured my imagination and transported me into the exciting world of the DOORS.I like this book; it is well done.

Morrison Fans: Stuffed with Pictures, Poems, & Stories!
An Hour for Magic by Frank Lisciandro is a beautiful tribute to Jim Morrison. Lisciandro who was a film school friend of both Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek and after The Doors took off, and they decided to make a film of The Doors in concert and later became Feast of Friends, they hired Lisciandro and Morrison friend Babe Hill to follow the band and document them in concert. Lisciandro was a dedicated documentarian and An Hour for Magic is stuffed with pictures of Morrison and The Doors. Not only do you see The Doors onstage and up close, but you see them off stage, traveling to the next show, hanging out with friends, in the recording studio, or Morrison in a suit and tie for a court date.

The difference from this book and any other of it's type is that a lot of Jim Morrison's poetry is included, and not just some that Morrison might have recited in concert, but ones, that when this book was originally published were unknown to fans and I think there are some poems included that might be rare or lesser known unless you're the hardcore Morrison/Doors fan.

And of course there are the remembrances of friends. From the first person memories of Lisciandro, to a humorous interview with Babe Hill in which they talk about a limo ride with Morrison to a concert and the driver gets lost and everybody is freaking out except Morrison who takes it all in stride. There is a standout piece in A Hell of a Way to Peddle Poems by author Robert Gover who provides an essay detailing his friendship with Morrison, and a trip to Las Vegas that ends with him and Morrison getting arrested but no matter what happens Morrison keeps provoking the police.

A great book for a fan to have.

An hour for magic, two days for reading
An Hour For Magic, originally published a mere 11 years after the subject's death, presents not only a delightfully disorganized account of Jim Morrison's life, but also a charmingly realistic view of the often turbulent times in which he lived.Unfortunately, the book's narration does, at times, follow the beaten path of countless others by escalating Jim's person into that of a demi-god through mystical embellishment ("On stage...Jim [became] a shaman, a wizard, a sorcerer, a magician, a medicine man, a witch doctor, an enchanter and a Dionysian reveler.")Still, if one manages to see through the haze of mystics applied to the rockstar's life, there lies a rewarding read in store - one filled with exquisite personal recollections by Jim's friend Frank Lisciandro of anecdotes and conversations surely deemed inconsequential by the more impersonal biographers.

Great Photo Essay
I love this book! The photographs are spectacular as are the comments that accompany each photo.

Frank Lisciandro "An Hour for Magic"
This book originally came out in 1982, which is when I got my copy of it.It is a very good memoir of Jim Morrison and, tangentially, The Doors by Frank Lisciandro.Lisciandro was one of The Doors' photographers and a close personal friend of Morrison.It is a personal, anecdotal memoir, portraying Morrison as a personal friend, rather than as the Lizard King.I especially like the account of the poetry recording session (that would later become the "American Prayer" poetry album).There is also a very good account of the incident where Paul Rothchild walked out from the production of the "L.A. Woman" album, leaving the Doors to produce that album by themselves with Bruce Botnick.In any event, I highly recommend it. ... Read more

A True Writer and Intellectual
James Douglas Morrison's poetry work in The Lords and the New Creatures is highly creative, deep, and raw. He takes his words to new levels of imagery and glory, making every line breath a pulse and electrify the senses. His work proves that he was more than some 'stereotypical drugged out rock star'-but rather, a true, smart, and dignified writer. His wit and sincerity flow through each poem and reminds us that he took his writing very seriously and humbly. This book is a must have for any literature or poet reader, and allows us to see the real Jim Morrison.

A great poet that was highly underrated
Jim Morrison was a man way ahead of his time. He was an artist of stellar magnitude as well as a prolific perfomer. Jim's first love was poetry. He always said that he wanted to be known first as a poet and then as a musician not the other way around. Jim's poems like the beautiful and dark music he wrote and recorded with The Doors was beyond the times that he lived in. This is his first book of published poetry that came out in 1969, he financed this publication himself because as well known as he was as the lead singer of The Doors he found it difficult to find a publisher that was interested enough in publishing his dark, avant-garde and sometimes violent poetry. This is a wonderful book and would make a great addition to any fan of his and of this type of poetry. Absolutely riveting and brilliant. Jim was a fiercely intelligent man who possessed a wonderful yet tortured soul. Read about the man and his poetry/music you will love it.

Summary of James' thoughts, notes, and poetry
Read this book and free yourself from simple common thought and perception. Jim was a pioneer, he took all the pre-concieved orthodox of poetry and smashed through with fresh insights and challenging, even offensive, material. This is the best of all his published works.

An outright look at the problems the truth presents.
The Lords and the New Creatures has the look of a book that may seem to be offensive and it is. As many people in our present world see the power that is associated with money, drugs, and all the other distractions this particular work forces people to see what they really are.

This title is a must for any fan of poetry or of the Doors.
When James Douglass Morrison wrote The Lords and the New Creatures, he had no idea the quality of the poetry he had written.This book just is a compilation of his first book of poety,The Lords, and his second book of poety, The New Creatures.Except for the fact that on the cover of the compilation is lists the author as Jim Morrison, instead of James Doulglass Morrison, the book is a classic.It would help to have read biographical information of Morrison to understand the poetry somewhat.I would recomend No One Here Gets Out Alive, or Riders on the Storm ... A Pictorial Treasure
Just like the title that I gave above this book is a pictorial treasure. It offers beautiful b/w and color photographs mostly of Jim and some with the band. This book containes some of the best Morrison pictures of any other book I've seen. As a HUGE fan of The Doors and Jim Morrison being one of my heros, I will say that you will definitely enjoy this book to its maximum potential. A truly work of art as far as rock n' roll photography is concern. Magnificent! I hope that a second volume of beautiful and pristine photographs like this one of The Doors and especially of Jim will surface very soon.

Only for hard-core collectors
I would only buy this book if you are a hard-core Jim Morrison fan and you are trying to collect every book out there about him.Not only did this book NOT teach me anything about Jim's religious beliefs, it really didn't teach me anything about the described religions either.The English translation was very hard to follow and interpret most of the time.

Very poorly done and ridiculous - should be no stars

A Must Read!
I've read lots of books about "The Doors" and "Jim Morrison" over the years. And this is the first time I found something different. I want to congratulate the author for providing us, the readers, such a great information about Jim Morrison's spiritual beliefs. Although some passages of the book sounded really wierd to me, I couldn't put it down. The "Voodoo" chapter is fascinating. Although Jim's death remains as "secret", there's NO possible way to think that he may have used tetrodotoxin to fake his death. There's explained deep investigation on tetrodotoxin. Also, the real meaning of the Snake, the Ancient Lake, etc. You'll be amazed! This book is a Must Read!

Well done!!
I must congratulate the author of this book for her excellent research thought I have to admit that reading some passagges it was quite hard for me to believe that my beloved Jim could have been so deeply interested in stuff like that. What made me change my mind the assertion John Desmond made. The book shows us a different Morrison. Hey, you, all The Door's fans, this work is really worth reading!!

Interesting stuff...!
It is the best book that I have read on Jim, and once I started it, I could NOT put it down!! This book made me see how he put his religious beliefs into words. THEN!! In Chapter 7, I find out that he COULD be alive?! NO WAY!! BUT...this chapter includes a very extensive interview with this man, Gerald Pitts, who claims to be Jim Morrison's agent today! You can really feel how the author makes this situation so questionable. Since this guy Pitts couldn't answer most of the authors questions, she almost made the story laughable. Maybe with MORE investigation, we all could find out once and for all!! What I am saying is that if this guy is a phony, he should be legally stopped! AND if he is the REAL THING, then he should step up! I would also like to comment one more thing thats in this book. It explains Voodoo and how Jim interpreted this into his life. How he became 'The Snake' and thought up 'the Highway' and 'Ancient Lake'. It is so interesting that he had such deep thoughts on this! Finally, his death has been linked to the Occult and Voodoo spells. The author made deep investigation on this matter too. A Must read! ... Read more

Is it Jim or is it Not?
To me this book fully explained why Jim might have faked his death.The constant harrassment from the authorities made his life unbearable as it would any of us.His life became split into two realities.The one which the media made him out to be and his own: deep, creative, exploring.Two Jims, two personalities, intertwined yet separate.One very happy and one very very sad.Reading this book made me understand that he had to disappear.But, is Jim dead or not?Well, we do know there is much mystery about it.This book put my spirit at ease with any of the many possibilities.Mind expanding so to speak!I highly recommend you get this book for it may be the best you ever read.

Bizarre, painful, fascinating...........
Several years ago, I found this book at a local newspaper stand. I had heard so many rumors of Jim Morrison being alive and well and living in Louisiana that I decided to buy it. It is apparently authored by a local eccentric form a relatively influential family from Baton Rouge, who actually changed his name to Jim Morrison on the grounds that the late rock star's spirit entered his LSD-laced body during a Mardi Gras at Lee's Circle, and then inspired him to shake the establishment by subverting it's finacial institutions.It's difficult to tell if the many misspelled words are done so unwittingly or with artistic intent, or are the loose associations of a psychotic mind. Strangely enough, there is reportedly some truth to the author's claims of swindling the Bank of America (although he states that the story is classifed as fiction for the purposes of judicial review), and he actually later ran for lieutenant governor of Louisiana on the platform that he was the perfect person for a high-paying, do-nothing job. This is an interesting story of a strange an interesting eccentric from the Bayou state, but I think that the real Jim Morrison lies in Pere Lachaise. ... Read more

Beats sleeping pills!
Oliver Stone is quoted on the cover for "an extremely important book that put Jim Morrison into perspective for the film". Really? Why? Of all he books I have om Jimbo and the Doors this one must be rated as the worst of them all. After putting it down, you don't know more about Morrison than before, so I wonder why Val Kilmer on the back of the book is quoted for " the book was my bible for the film". It's amazing that the author is able to recollect all the conversations she had with Morrison considering the hazed state she was in must of the time. Also, why isn't there any pictures of her and Morrison together. Where they really together more than a couple of times?
Well, one good thing about my copy, I found it on sale for a few bucks, so that alone makes it worth the lone star.

Living & Dying With Jim Morrison
This, after you have read all of the other books on The Doors and on Jim...you MUST read.This is a book written by a highly intelligent groupie which Jim returned to over and over so that she would administer to him the love he was seeking.

All the other women he saw demanded a response from him which he surely could not or would not give.Judy Huddleston instinctively knew that and loved him in spite of his childish ways.In the end, she sees him in through sorrowful, lovesick eyes...as we all do.

I cannot get over how smart she is.We are right there with her every moment.She is an expert at this!Fantastic!

Honest and Daring
This wonderful book, about a relationhsip with one of the most mysterious and charismatic rock stars, is blatant in its honesty. Often, through her perfectly timed and wickedly dry sense of humor, Ms. Huddleston simultantouesly shows us her naivete in direct conflict with her alter ego which knows better than to think for a moment that Jim Morrison will actually rise to her girlhood-like expectations. Revealing in every way, funny and touching, I read this one straight through!!

A coming of age book
Having grown up in the same time period myself,this was a bookthat brought back so many memories of just how young and foolish we were. This book was reminiscent of that crazy time period when just out of high school,the heady freedom of expermination and vulerabilty takes hold, and so many of uswere impressionable and intriqued by the underground movement that swept through the late 60's ....love-ins,rock concerts, sex and drugs.....it's more like a coming of age book of a girl going down a wild road, out of control but mesmerized by the rock star.She knows it's not healthy but she can't stop. I thought the writing was great and told an interesting story of that era about young girls, the spell they fall under and what eventually happens to them. What makes the book more fascinating is that the rock and roll star is Jim Morrison! It's the most authentic book I've read about the Doors and hope we will see a sequel.

Couldn't Put it down.....
I love reading Jim Morrison books but in my personal opinion, I haven't come across any written by his 'old girlfriends' that seem true or realistic; until this one. Judy writes an open an honest account on her times with Morrison and how she was a star-strucked young girl and had the dream of being his 'one and only'. She makes it clear through the entire book that he was very charming and smart, etc. but he was a human being who had his faults. She also made it clear on how she realizes she shouldn't have tolerated the way he treated her and how she could obviously never get him to love her (although she wished she could). In my eyes, I can definitely relate to a young teenage girl being 'starstruck' and wanting so badly to turn a once-in-a-while fling (which Jim viewed it as) to a lifelong romance. Truthful, honest, and open; this book is probably the ONLY believable book written by a former lover of Jim's. ... Read more

Excellent, true book
I have every book written about Jim Morrison collected over the past 20-plus years, plus every performance available on either VHS or DVD, including his film HWY.Dylan Jones has written an indepth, detailed account of Morrison's life, in which he was neither glamorized nor trashed.This book shows Morrison as a human being and not the overblown myth created since his passing."Dark Star" works best as a reality check against the numerous tomes that lauded Morrison and contributed to his icon status. Jim couldn't live up to the sexy rock star image in real life, hence, his sabbatical to Paris to get away from the Lizard King persona he so carefully crafted.Of course, unless Morrison made a 180-degree change in the way he was living his life (and abusing his body), if he were alive today, he would be considered a "washed up" relic from the 1960s.This book is for those of us who lived through the 1960s and remember the decade for all it was, not just peace and love.We had Vietnam and we couldn't vote until age 21... and for many of our generation who had no choice, the end WAS always near....

Great Photos, Bad Writing.
This a strange book for me indeed. I loved the photos, especially those of The Doors performing, but the writing is bad and depressing. Dylan Jones fails to do anything to capture the essence of Jim Morrison's art and instead writes a book that basically paints a depressing picture. It appears he takes a lot of gossip as truth (though Morrison was known for his "wild child" activities) and I don't understand why so much effort was put into such a gorgeous-looking book when the writing burns the main character. Jones obviously does not understand or feel anything about The Doors considering he called "Waiting For The Sun" a disappointing work and trashes a great song like "Not To Touch The Earth." I'm also surprised he has so many pictures of Morrison at concerts when he totally trashes his moves and wild performances on stage. This is a weird book in that it has so many great pictures, it is a photographic record, but the writing does not strive to dissect The Doors art, it only focuses on the negative aspects of the life of Jim Morrison. I very much more enjoyed the biography "Break On Through" which was smoothly written and treated the bad stuff with style and really dissected Morrison's work. Great photos, disappointing book.

Could we suck up to the "Widow Kennealy" any more?
This book is gorgeous. If you love the young, pouty lion-god, you will love the photos in this book. If you're interested in the rest of the Doors...look elsewhere. This book is largely a paraphrase of PatriciaKennealy-Morrison's _Strange Days_. Yeah, yeah, we already read that one.

Morrison is an Unparalled Musician and Thinker
I bought this book and had it finished in one week.Thomas does and excellent job of describing the life of Jim Morrison, AKA the lizard king, it was one of turmoil and confusion.But Morrison was quite an intellect and poet.Many of the Doors songs spawned from books Morrison had read and he had an unquenched love for the beat generation works, mythology and philosophers.On stage he was an amazing showman and gave the fans what they wanted.But all too many times he would become unruly and downright deplorable.Yet he still was a tremendous thinker, and was the perfect image of a rock and roll star.He truly was a remarkable poet and writer, it is too bad he left the Earth so soon.

If you like Jim Morrison, you won't like this book
Jones' contempt for Morrison oozes out of every page. It is so vicious, you will be left wondering why he subjected himself to the seeming torture of typing Morrison's name ... Read more

Good Book, I haven't really puy it down since I got it.
The book was good in researching the rumours that Jim Morrison is still alive, and tells some which was unknown. I have been reading it all day, and the only problem I have is it's only 80 pages, which is a little too short.Worth a read.

Worth a read but...
Don't expect too much, it's rather dissapointing.

Is he still alive and living in L'America?Well, we still don't know.

Respect to Bob for making the effort though.

Tedious reading
After reading this book I felt assured knowing that Morrison has been dead all this time, but disappointed in the lack of research.This author interviewed no one of importance, scarcely addressed any theories of murderor OD and was content telling the reader what happened on each day ofsearch minute after boring minute.Great topic to write about, but The Endfell short in many areas.

Those interested in the subject of Morrison's death owe a great deal of gratitude to Seymore, whose dogged perseverence resulted in the release of several major documents held by Paris police, including the report of AlainRonay, the full police report of Pam Courson, et cetera.Nevertheless,Seymore fails to follow up on some fascinating issues, and largely believesthe Courson /Ronay story without questioning the underlying validity ofthose testimonies or looking very deeply into the situation.Much of thebook could be subtitled, "Bob's Irritations With ParisianBureaucracy," and it often seems as if Seymore is desperately tryingto pad what is already a short book.He fails to read his own materialvery closely for places where witness testimony is provocativelycontradictory, primarily (I believe) because his main thrust in doingresearch into Morrison's death was to discover that he was still alive. Laughing at a Washed-Up Writer in a Mid-Life Crisis
As The Lost Blogs is fictional, so is Davidson's washed up career as a comedian, author and blogger. Men in Midlife CrisisDavidson even creates fake fans on his site he chats with because he has no life.The Lonely Guy He accuses retired celebrities Little Darlings of stalking him The Paranoid's Pocket Guide and lives in a dump neighborhood in Sherman Oaks. When he's not on his blog creating fake fans to adore him on forums, he organizes flaming parties of people who see through his little act.

Davidson's publisher wasn't interested in investing much money into promoting his book so he has to buy his own copies to hand out for free to try and keep up the sales figures to below a 500,000 ranking on Amazon.The Masquerade Overture

Need your internet fix?Need a good laugh?Wonder what Socrates (and other historical notables) would have written in his blog?Paul Davidson has hit your triangle of needs with his book, "The Lost Blogs."It is hilarious--and if you happen to be reading it on the can you'll have people wondering why there's laughter coming out of the bathroom.

It's a bit odd to read a "blog" (which is born out of an electronic format) in print, but the content is so marvelous that you forget it immediately!And best of all, no carpal tunnel syndrome from vicious mouse clicking.

There are amazing stats that say most writers only write one good book, and that the 2nd book is an enormous hurdle.But...the guy who wrote Consumer Joe, has struck again!

Lost
I lost my copy of The Lost Blogs. I read it way back in March during SXSW because, hey, what better time to read a blog book then when I'm out amongst the blogeratti? I whipped through it and chuckled regularly, smirking often and unable to stifle full blown laughter in a few points. It appears I'm a sucker for 2 types of nerdy blog humor: Historical blog entries from extremely positive but naive people (when John Lennon blogs about his first meeting with Yoko Ono) and accurate portrayals of blog & web geekdom ( the 3am comment war between William Randolph Hearst and Orson Welles on Welles's Citizen Kane Blog). Paul writes lots more in that style and you should be greatful for that. Too bad I couldn't keep my head together enough to remember to pick it up off the night stand before I got in a cab and got on a plane.

I'm a little wary about books that read like blogs. The blog, by it's nature, requires some action by their readers. Click here. Respond to this. Watch this video. See these pictures. There are some points in The Lost Blogs when I want my mouse. I want access to Moses' webring. I want to see the pictures and tech specs of his Holy Portable Communication Device. The blog is a unique medium. It is not quite like writing for print which is why many bloggers turned authors aren't very good and don't produce quality work.

Thankfully, Paul is accomplished and talented in both worlds and The Lost Blogs is still an excellent read despite it's lack of hotlinks.

Maybe in the future we'll have full creative fiction blog projects adeptly put together by both skilled writers and witty web professionals who can create a real honest-to-goodness blook. Until then, though, we'll keep reading The Lost Blogs and like it.

That is if I hadn't lost our Lost Blogs in Austin.

As the proud of owner of a rather beat up copy of Consumer Joe, I was giddy with excitement when I received my pre-ordered copy of The Lost Blogs and let me tell you, Mr. Davidson did not let me down.

He is one funny man.I have giggled out loud and have even had a few guffaws come out of me while reading this book.I think it would make a great gift and I plan on putting it in our reception area, much like I did Consumer Joe.Clients love to read it and it makes me happy to have clients have a good laugh while they are at my place of employment.Don't we all need a good laugh sometimes?
