Excerpt: Roy "Reg" Park (7 June 1928 22 November 2007) from Leeds in West Yorkshire, England, was a former bodybuilder, businessman and film actor. Showing athletic interests early in life, Reg Park dedicated his teenage years to excelling in football. He had no specific interest in bodybuilding until age 16 when he met muscleman David Cohen. Upon learning that Cohen lifted weights at his friend's house, Park joined in out of curiosity. Park's legendary physique would begin to grow from barbells, dumbbells and a simple chinning bar. Upon discharge from the military in 1948, he witnessed his first physique contest; the inaugural NABBA Mr. Universe contest, in which John Grimek edged out Steve Reeves in controversial fashion. It was this contest that inspired Park to compete himself. After one year of hard training, Park earned the title of Mr. Britain in 1949. He then subsequently spent six months in the United States (thanks to a gift from his parents). There, he met up with publisher Joe Weider, who began to feature the Englishman prominently in his muscle magazines. The next year, Park was runner-up to Steve Reeves in the 1950 NABBA Amateur Mr. Universe in London (also a close contest). After a second full year of training, Park broke what had been an American monopoly on bodybuilding titles by winning the 1951 National Amateur Bodybuilders Association (NABBA) Amateur Mr. Universe. He cemented his superstar status by winning the 1958 AND 1965 NABBA Pro M...More: http://booksllc.net/?id=1964241 ... Read more

On January 4, 2009, Richardson announced his decision to withdraw his nomination because of an investigation into improper business dealings in New Mexico. Bill Richardson was born in Pasadena, Los Angeles, California . His father, William Blaine Richardson Jr. (died in 1972) of New England Yankee and Mexican descent, was an American Citibank executive who grew up in Boston, Massachusetts and lived and worked in Mexico City. Kapitel: Steven Chu, Bill Richardson, James R. Schlesinger, Hazel R. O'leary, James Burrows Edwards, James D. Watkins, Spencer Abraham, Charles W. Duncan, John S. Herrington, Federico Peña, Samuel Bodman, Donald P. Hodel. Aus Wikipedia. Nicht dargestellt. Auszug: Steven Chu (born February 28, 1948) is an American physicist and currently the 12th United States Secretary of Energy. Chu is known for his research at Bell Labs in cooling and trapping of atoms with laser light, which won him a share of the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1997, with Claude Cohen Tannoudji and William Daniel Phillips. At the time of his appointment as Energy Secretary, he was a professor of physics and molecular and cellular biology at the University of California, Berkeley and the director of the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, where his research was concerned primarily with the study of biological systems at the single molecule level. Previously, he had been a professor of physics at Stanford University. He is a vocal advocate for more research into alternative energy and nuclear power, arguing that a shift away from fossil fuels is essential to combating climate change. For example, he has conceived of a global "glucose economy", a form of a low-carbon economy, in which glucose from tropical plants is shipped around like oil is today. Chu, a Chinese American, was born in St. Louis, Missouri, with ancestry from Taicang, in Jiangsu province, and graduated from Garden City High School. He received both a B.A. in mathematics and a B.S. in physics in 1970 from the University of Rochester. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in physics from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1976, during which he was supported by a National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowship. Chu comes from a family of scholars. His father earned an advanced chemical engineering degree at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and taught at Washington University in St. ...http://booksllc.net/?l=de ... Read more
