Product Description

Inside the Revolution takes you inside the winner-take-all battle for the hearts, minds, and souls of the people of the Middle East. It includes never-before-seen profiles of the Radicals, the Reformers, and the Revivalists. It explains the implications of each movement and the importance of each leader—not only through the lenses of politics and economics but also through the third lens of Scripture. Today, wars and revolutions define the Middle East, and many believe the worst is yet to come.

  •  How real and serious is the threat of radical Islam to American national security eight years after 9/11?
  •  Are there any Muslim leaders who oppose the violence of the Radicals−and is there any hope that such leaders will come to power in key countries in the Middle East?
  •  What is God doing in the Middle East—and is there any hope that Muslims will find faith in Jesus Christ?
  •  How can we as Christians help strengthen our brothers and sisters who love Jesus in the Muslim world, and how can we reach out to Muslims here at home?

Product Description
When it all began, it was just supposed to be a game: seven college students sitting down for an evening of role playing. But a real wizard intervened, and the students found themselves in a world where magic worked-too well-and caught up in a battle between the forces of slavery and freedom. Years later, Jason Cullinane, son of the now-legendary Karl Cullinane, has taken up his mysteriously vanished father's role as baron when reports reach him of an attack in his realm by a wolfpack that seems to be more than an ordinary wolfpack. When he and his comrades investigate, they find a rift into the world Faerie from which evil creatures are entering the mortal world to kill and conquer. Cullinane now must not only battle his father's old enemies in the Slavers' Guild, but somehow defeat this powerful supernatural menace. And the greatest danger to the band may come from one of their own who has seemingly switched sides in the struggle . . ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An excellent pair of novels in one volume
This is an omnibus combining two novels from the 'Guardians of the Flame' series by Joel Rosenberg.Per usual, Mr. Rosenberg does a tremendous job of using compelling characters in an interesting milieu to move a carefully crafted plot forward. These novels are a transition point in the series as the focus ensemble cast shifts further towards the next generation or protagonists.

5-0 out of 5 stars I am constantly losing or loaning away books. I don't mind
reissues and duplicate books in my library.

I really like Rosenberg's books. And I also really like having the books in the series from different points of view, different voices. Rosenberg doesn't write "great literature", he writes damn good stories. I know that when I pick up one of his books I am out of my world for an hour or two and into his which for that period of time, due to his excellent story telling talent and vivid imagination, is as real as my own. So I will happily plunk down money again and again to ensure that I can enjoy the company of Walter and his friends whenever the mood strikes me.

5-0 out of 5 stars A welcome renewal of an old friendship.
At least, that's how I felt about this publication.

It's true that I already owned Book Club editions of "The Road to Ehvenor" and "The Road Home."

But I found over time that these books and their first person narrative, at the time unique in Rosenberg's 'Guardians' series, had become my favorites of the series. Perhaps that's because I found them to be such an interesting extension of the original ideas of the 'Guardians' series, as well as a stylistic change from those books. Or perhaps just because I was approaching the perspective of the age or period of life from which the narration of Walter Slovotsky is written.

In any case, as with most every Rosenberg novel, both of these novels are a great entertainment in their own right. With this new omnibus, I can give my old editions, with their aging slipcovers and yellowing pages, a well-deserved rest.

4-0 out of 5 stars Great Value if you didn't buy them years ago
I personally really hate it when people cry about how it sucks for a book to be reprinted but fails to realize that it is great that the books have gained popularity again.

1-0 out of 5 stars Good for the Newbie, bad for the collector.
Personally, I hate it when an author or a publisher re-prints a book (or in this case 2 books) under a new title.

If you have already read or already own "The Road Home" and "The Road to Ehvenor" don't bother getting this book. ... Read more

Product Description

With over one million novels in print, New York Times best-selling author Joel C. Rosenberg has been called "eerily prophetic" and a "modern Nostradamus" for his uncanny ability to write political thrillers that come true. In his first nonfiction book, this evangelical Christian from an Orthodox Jewish heritage takes readers on an unforgettable journey through prophecy and current events into the future of Iraq after Saddam, Russia after Communism, Israel after Arafat, and Christianity after radical Islam. You won't want to miss Joel's exclusive interviews with Israeli, Palestinian, and Russian leaders and previously classified CIA and White House documents. Similar to the approach Joel takes in his novels, his desire is to draw readers into stories, anecdotes, and predictions in a way that builds confidence and allows Joel to share his faith in Jesus Christ and the reliability of Scripture as a guide to understanding the past and the future. ... Product Description

In Midkemia, there are no easy roads . . .

For twenty years the mercenaries Durine, Kethol, and Pirojil have fought other people's battles. Having already defeated the Tsurani, the Bugs, and the goblins, it seems there are no more enemies for them to vanquish—even as the Riftwar rages on in the west. What lies ahead for the able trio are a few welcomed months of restful garrison duty.

When ordered to accompany the promiscuous Lady Mondegreen, her aging husband, and her current lover to a summit in the city of LaMut, the Three Swords willingly comply, expecting an uncomplicated and undemanding assignment. But nothing is straightforward in this land of violence and treachery. And when the fury of a winter's storm traps them inside a castle teeming with ambitious, plotting lords and ladies, the mercenaries suddenly find themselves with a series of cold-blooded murders to solve . . . and the political future of Midkemia resting in their hands.

3-0 out of 5 stars Murder in LaMut
Though the story was ok, I found the ending less than ethical and morally wrong. Not the best of Raymond E. Feist's best works.

4-0 out of 5 stars Nice read but not Feist
Not a bad story and adds to the world of Midkemia, but this is definitely not Feist. Ties into the legend by having guest appearance of Fantus, Kulgan's Firedrake. So, if you want a break from Feist, I'd recommend, but if you are expecting Feist, you'll be disappointed.

1-0 out of 5 stars This one is a let down
I have read nearly all of Feist's books and this series was the only one I had to really work at to try and get through. In the end I was very disappointed in this book.It was really really boring throughout and only got ok towards the end. Don't let this review stop you from reading his other work.I have really enjoyed most of his books up to this set.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Refreshing View of the Feist Series
This book is better than the third book in the Legends of Riftwar Series, but not quite as good as the first. It is an interesting take on the murder mystery where all the suspects are stranded at a remote location by a storm. The reason I say that is because the protagonist is actually broken up into three characters, who each represents facets of the usual protagonist in such stories.Just because the apparent motivation for the murder is pointless if you've read the Riftwar series doesn't make the story pointless. It just illustrates what happens to people in real life. The authors have good descriptions of real cold weather (obviously one of them lived somewhere cold at one point). There are some characters I found memorable, like the leader of the three mercs, the Swordmaster and the murder victims. The cons were there were too many minor characters (like the nobles and the rangers, for example) to keep track of.That aided the murder mystery part of the story, but made the rest of it kind of confusing.

1-0 out of 5 stars Waste of time
I love Feist's books.I have read almost everyone so far.But this book was an extreme let down. There is almost no action, too many characters that you don't know anything about prior to this (and have no desire to learn more about), and doesn't get into the story until half way through the book.I haven't even finished reading it and don't think I will. If you enjoy Feist stories, do not stupe to the level required to enjoy this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Guradians of the Flame Series
Algernon is my kind of hero.Sweet, sensitive, funny yet sassy. Old enough to know better, but young enough not to care. The best best part is he eats your enemies!

5-0 out of 5 stars A great ending...
A 3 book series that is well worth the read.Clever and well written.A little dated but hey, what can you do?Anyone interested in the Sci-Fi Fantasy genre should invest in these books.I went to the author's web page and mailed my copies to him, now I have signed copies!Hooray for me!

5-0 out of 5 stars The finale
This is the third of the trilogy, but not end of the series itself. It fleshes out the characters and is very graphic at times.I wish someone would reprint all three in a nice trade paperback. They are not huge Jordanish novels and could easily fit in a nice trade.I consider them classics of fantasy.

5-0 out of 5 stars On the edge of a sword
Karl fights to free slaves and to destroy the slave guild. This is a good book especially if you like alot of fighting scenes with pretty graphic descriptions on how people are being killed than this is the book for you!

3-0 out of 5 stars The Sword and the Chain Redux
The Silver Crown is no worse and no better than The Sword and the Chain.Like its immediate predecessor, it seems to have no real theme other than the use of violent means to achieve noble ends. The promising theme of The Sleeping Dragon - the adaptation of people from our world to a fantasy world - has been all but abandoned. What we are left with is not much more than entertainment; enjoyable but neither provocative nor moving.

To be fair, there is a suggestion that the true plot of the series is a long-term effort by erstwhile professor Deighton to control the fantasy world.Deighton even makes an appearance in The Silver Crown. It could be that an incredibly complex storyline is about to emerge, in which case my opinion of books two and three may have to be revisited. For now, however, I remain of the view that The Silver Crown is a harmless read that should be enjoyed by most fantasy readers who don't mind a bit of violence in their stories. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars In good quality and time efficient.
Thank you for sending this. It was in good condition and came within a reasonable amount of time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Book
The 5th book in the Guardians of the Flame series. It is an awesome story. This copy I got from Amazon was in great condition.Almost no wear.I would definitely buy from them again.

5-0 out of 5 stars Rosenberg does it again
Karl might have won an empire but he has an empire with many problems. From the elves who want to take his land to the slavers guild who want to kill him. Jason his son is now almost grown and will have to take his position as heir to an empire more seriously. Rosenberg does a good job in this book. Some things were sort of confusing but overall a good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars The end of one era, the beginning of another...
This book told of the demise of one of the best characters in this genre's history.I still haven't forgiven the author for it. Speaking as one who was with this series from the beginning, I must insist you start withthe first book ("The Sleeping Dragon")."The Heir Apparent" also tells of the comingof age of another main character, while continuing to build on establishedcharacters. In context, this story is the perfect "swan song"for the character who has grown so much as a warrior, a leader and aperson. To be honest, I couldn't tell you what the book would be likeread out of context. All I *can* say is...If you've never read any ofMr. Rosenberg's "Guardians of the Flame" series, you better getcrackin'!Half the fun/agony is waiting for the next one!

3-0 out of 5 stars Realistic close-up fantasy, but not a new ground-breaker.
Joel Rosenberg manages to continue his old storyline without any special new inventions. The old heroes is dusted off (I guess that Joel wanted to retire them entirely a couple of times during the books 1-3) and used again. Some 2nd role actors are killed off, together with the main characters in the end of the book. I could just feel Joels urge to finish the tale thoughout the book, and managing barely. Only to change his mindbecause of sentimentality for the well-known characters, and making a strange sortie and opening for next book... ... Read more

Product Description
hen copyeditor Ernest 'Sparky' Heming-way (no relation) got a call from the daughter of his Vietnam buddy George Washington (also no relation), he teamed up with his friend Doc Holiday (no relation, of course), saved Tenisha, and turned his entire life up-sidedown. Sparky took Tenisha back to his town, which is filled with decidedly odd folks who all think he's nuts, because rearing an almost grown inner-city teenager is an unenviable task. But Sparky knows that the promises made in war last even longer than life. When Sparky gets roped into becoming a deputy sheriff and an old flame comes back into town, the sparks (not his) start flying. And is there any doubt that a dead body or two will join the party any minute? ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Does Family Matters matter?
I bought this book thinking it was written by Joel C. Rosenberg.Actually, it was Joel (without a C.) Rosenberg. It is an OK book in a quirky sort of way, with no real point other than having a lifetime bond with your former tank crew from Vietnam can complicate an otherwise boring life in a small town in North Dakota. The book has some amusing moments, but would have been far more enjoyable without the off-color language that pervades nearly every page. You can best gauge the pace of this book by knowing that the most memorable character is "Snake", a really laid-back German Shepard that spends most of its time taking "dumps".To sum it up in "Seinfeld terms" Family Matters is basically a book about nothing.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Second Sparky Hemingway Story
I liked this book and I really like Sparky Hemingway, the central character and his girlfriend and his adopted daugher. I didn't have any problem with the various names (and Snake, the name of his dog, was _his_ nickname in Nam, not a friend's nickname)

This wasn't exactly a mystery. It has a similar relationship to the mystery genre that the Travis McGee novels do. That isn't a bad thing. The story told by the previous book and this book set up a situation where there could be many more Sparky Hemingway mysteries. Which would be a good thing. Some of them might be more tradional whodunits.

On the other hand, I don't know that the books have found an audience. If they haven't, Joel will probably go back to writing SF and Fantasy. So I win either way.

5-0 out of 5 stars Book two of a great series
I liked book one better because it had a deeper more dangerous mystery. The character descriptions and dialog are simply a must read. If you liked Home Front, then get off your duff and read this book. Find out what is happening back in the town and how things are settling in.

There are, however, a few unfortunate things going on in the town and Sparky is just the guy to nail it down.

4-0 out of 5 stars another good Book
I really like this book and the first (Home Front) ne in what I hope is long series.

These books makee me think of Jules Clement series by Jamie Harrison with it setting in a small town out in the wide open spaces of the upper Midwest and with other mystery novelsdriven by the characters' and setting like in the Montana Mystery series featuring Gabriel Du Pre by Peter Bowen and Tony Hillermans books in southwest. If you like this book then I bet you like these and vice a versus

5-0 out of 5 stars Life in a microcosmic world
This book is a return visit to Hardwood, North Dakota, where neighbors know everything about each other, but have the good grace to pretend that they don't.

Reprising his role as lead character from "Home Front," Ernest "Sparky" Hemingway again finds his quiet life as a copyeditor disturbed by events beyond his control.

This isn't political intrigue on the national or international level; it's local -- small-town local -- which makes it even more intense and consuming for those it affects.

Grab a mug of your favorite hot beverage, curl up in a comfortable chair, and enjoy an engaging read about big goings-on in a small place that these people call home. ... Read more

Product Description

As the apocalyptic leaders of Iran call for the annihilation of Israel and the U.S., CIA operative David Shirazi is sent into Tehran with one objective: use all means necessary to disrupt Iran’s nuclear weapons program, without leaving American fingerprints, and without triggering a regional war. At extreme personal risk, Shirazi executes his plan.
A native Farsi speaker whose family escaped from Iran in 1979, he couldn’t be better prepared for the mission. But none of his training has prepared Shirazi for what will happen next. An obscure religious cleric is suddenly hailed throughout the region as the Islamic messiah known as the Mahdi or the Twelfth Imam. News of his miracles, healings, signs, and wonders spreads like wildfire, as do rumors of a new and horrific war. With the prophecy of the Twelfth Imam seemingly fulfilled, Iran’s military prepares to strike Israel and bring about the End of Days. Shirazi must take action to save his country and the world, but the clock is ticking—and then a dark secret from his past comes to light and changes the course of his life forever. ... Read more
