Product Description
Jennifer Paterson - noisy, jolly, fun, acerbic - had masses of friends and admirers who were deprived of their rackety companion when she died in 1999. Here, 20 friends, colleagues, fellow cooks, write about Jennifer as they knew her: an energetic promoter of no-nonsense cookery, a devout Catholic devoted to the saints, a hilarious social companion, a hugely successful television cook, amazed at her following after such a late start on the small screen and a kind friend. Contributions from, among others, A.N. Wilson, Clarissa Dickson Wright, Peter Ackroyd, Charles Moore and Richard Ingrams. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A Celebration of Jennifer Patterson book review
Not much to say here.I found this book more entertaining to read than Clarissa's "Spilling The Beans" book which I also ordered at the same time.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great fun!
Ok, it's not War and Peace, but for all us who miss Jennifer Paterson or who never knew the range of her unconventionality from the TV show, this is a quick and delightful ride driven by those who knew and loved her.Loving testaments from those who fired her for throwing all the dishes out the window, those she insulted, those she cooked for, are published alongside photos from her birth to old age, and of her helmet being carried behind her coffin at her funeral .Let your hair down, pour a glass, and dig this one!

1-0 out of 5 stars Disappointed!!
I was very disappointed in this book. It seems to have been rushed to press. It just mulls over the same things, what Jennifer's jobs were and her heavy drinking. There must have been more to this interesting lady. Wish it had been better. Maybe someone will write a better book about this woman. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Page Turner!
Excellent writing, full of suspense, romance and all kinds of other good stuff. Loved it!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars Heart and Soul in contemporary fiction
"Fiery Dunes" is a delightful novel from a very talented author. Jennifer Sinclair's prose has a lyrical quality and her concept of heart and soul stays with readers long after they've finished the book. Start reading this one and you won't put it down until you've finished the story. "Fiery Dunes" goes on my A-list!

5-0 out of 5 stars Recommend highly!
I've read all of Jennifer Sinclair's books and they're excellent but FIERY DUNES is still my favorite one. The characters are like real people in real-life situations in a beautiful setting. The inner conflict of the heroine Anne reminds me of many of my own internal struggles. Read this novel and you'll enjoy a great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Classic Beach Book!
If you only have room for 2 books in your beach bag, take "Fiery Dunes" as one of your choices. Its story is perfect, the length is just right for a sunny day, and the setting stages a first class beach mood. Available at the coolest beach stores in Gulf Shores-Orange Beach-Fort Morgan, Ala. and the Riviera Centre in Foley, this book is one you will enjoy and pass along to a friend. Another recommendation is for Anne George's Southern Sister mysteries. Ms. George and Ms. Sinclair exhibit a talent for developing quirky characters who come to life on page 1 and hold the reader's attention throughout the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Read this one!
Finally, a book worth reading! Fast-paced action, believable and interesting characters, just-right passion and a setting that becomes one of the characters -- plus an excellent storyline. If you're looking for an enjoyable Southern read, this book is a winner! ... Read more

Product Description
Angel Flight is the long-awaited new novel from Jennifer Sinclair, the best-selling author of Fiery Dunes and Grant Denied.

Jealousy, intrigue, deceit and romance with a Gulf Coast setting constitute the framework for Angel Flight, a contemporary story with a diverse set of engaging characters. Among these are Ben Collier, a US Navy "Blue Angel" pilot turned land-developer; Desiree McAndrews of Boulder, Colorado, a no-nonsense environmentalist bent on revenge; and Miss Susanna Delaney, a southern beauty queen with a bad attitude.

The action of the story centers on the relationship triangle of Desiree-Ben-Susanna and the proposed development of Heron Bay, an endangered wetland area. The former evolves into a winner-take-all competition that becomes complicated by the angst waged in Desiree's mind, Ben's struggle with desire versus duty and Susanna's charades as she weaves a web of manipulative madness in her pursuit of Ben's love and financial security.

Subplots concern parenting issues, environmental confrontations, ingenue infatuation and political entanglements. Enhanced by the natural serenity of the Florida panhandle, Angel Flight explores the harsh reality of betrayed love and the excitement of new beginnings in a less than perfect world.

Described by reviewers as a story that challenges the mind and brightens the spirit, Angel Flightis a fun-filled and captivating pageturner that delights readers of all ages. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars A Winner!!!
When I was first assigned to read this book in a literature course, I doubted that the novel would appeal to me. How wrong I was! I'm in the military and deployed overseas and I've got to tell you -- this is a great book! The writer has a way with descriptions and dialogue that kept my attention from page 1 and on from there. The conflict between the three characters is meaningful in a literary way, but also a riot because of the humorous undercurrent between the heroine and antiheroine. Jennifer Sinclair has a new fan in me, a tough-guy GI. She gets an A++++!

5-0 out of 5 stars Another great effort....
Jennifer Sinclair has a way with words like few others do. She combines warmth, humour, and passion in her writing, which is no mean feat. Buy this one today - you'll pat yourself on the back for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great book!
I received Angel Flight as a Christmas present and I've got to say this is one book that I read immediately and enjoyed every page! The characters were fascinating and I enjoyed the interplay between the heroine, Desiree, and the anti-heroine, Susanna. The hero, Ben, was amazing and the depth ofhis struggle touched me deeply. If you haven't read this book, buy it now.You won't be sorry and I thank my friend for sending me a copy. ... Read more

Description

Clarissa: or arrested innocence is a poignant collection of poems written by a mother in response to her daughter’s severe mental illness. These poems, crafted by an experienced poet, probe the pain of psychosis. The poet lays bare the isolation and frustration felt by the sufferer. She compares mental illness with the dangers of high speed motorbike racing. She draws on the legend of the Sleeping Beauty, the poems of Blake, Hopkins and Shakespeare, as well as using scenes from Scotland’s beautiful West Coast, from Edinburgh, St Petersburg and Warsaw to offer wide-ranging word pictures on a single theme: schizophrenia.

About the Author

Jenny Robertson is an experienced writer author of over thirty five books for adults and children, both fiction and non-fiction, including three collections of her own poetry. Her work has been read on Scottish Television and BBC radio and has been widely translated. She has taken part in poetry readings in Scotland, Russia and Poland. Jenny’s world fell apart when her daughter spiralled into deep psychosis. Her response to this tragedy is contained in the poems she offers here.

“Wrenchingly beautiful, these poems offer one of the few consolations that suffering affords: that it sometimes prompts great art into life” - Dr Richard Holloway, Chairman of the Scottish Arts Council and Patron of the National Schizophrenia Fellowship (Scotland)

“Each word falls bright and singing on the stones of our world.” - Leading Scottish poet, George Mackay Brown
