In 1981, he volunteered for the hunger strike and lasted 70 days before being taken off when he went into a coma. He emerged from prison in 1992 and has been working as a writer and Development Worker in Belfast. He is Co-founder of the West Belfast Film Festival and is now the Chair of the new Belfast Film Festival . Currently he is employed as a development worker with Coiste na n-Iarchini, an umbrella group for ex-prisoners on both sides of the border. MacArthur Foundation, the Joyce Foundation, leading financial services firms, and the local manufacturing industry. This integrated career preparation model is central to Riverside Community College's strategic plan for expansion into a three-college district with model work-based learning programs in automotive technology, engineering and manufacturing technology, the arts, and health sciences.

Printable Version Do Adult Indigos exist? YES!!! They did not just start coming at rates of 90% of the incoming population in 1992. I believe there have always been some Indigos, the amount of which has only increased through the last 50 years or so. My guess on percentages is that Indigos make up approximately 15-25% of 20-30 year olds, 10-15% of 30-40 yr olds, 5-10% of 40-50 yr olds and 0-5% prior to that. That's MY opinion, not a fact. Some of us are here to pave the way for today's mass influx of Indigo energy, to break down some barriers and to be advocates and support systems for these children.

Extractions: General Theoretical Frame of Reference The radical modernization of western industrial societies involves fundamental changes in both social structures and subjective experiences. Key concepts in this respect are "globalization of risks", "fragmentation of experiences", "plurality of communities and socio-cultural frames of references" and "disembedding". The comprehensive theme for this module is concerned with the implications of these changes with respect to questions of social inequality and social solidarity. The consequences of radical modernization for the transformation of traditional forms of social inequality and the development of new ones, will be presented and discussed, firstly at the more global level and secondly at the local level of the "community". Full attention will be given to different political options and strategies in adult education and community work to construct new forms of social solidarity and cooperation. In this perspective, the role of social movements in the self-organization and self-education of communities and their meaning of actual concepts for social policy (included educational policy) will be studied during the first week of the module. During the second week lectures, discussions and field visits will focus on the contribution to the construction of local solidarity and citizenship, by implementing strategies for community work (community development) and approaches of community education.

Appel is currently involved with teaching a GED class at San Quentin. Adisa Beatty Adisa Vera Beatty holds a M.F.A in English from Brown University ('94). A member of the Malcolm X Grassroots Movement since 1995, and co-director since 2001, Beatty has coordinated the organization's anti-police brutality programs, and community feeding and clothing drives, and prison projects, including raising funds and support for political prisoners. Beatty also coordinates the international Black August Hip-Hop Political Education Tour and benefit concert series. Her poetry has appeared in Callaloo , the Painted Bride Quarterly and The American Poetry Review . She teaches adult education to women at Rikers Island's Correctional Facility and New York City Technical College. Through her poetry, publishing and teaching, Beatty addresses the inequalities of race, sexism and definitions of community.

Extractions: AN ELDER statesman of the New Age movement, Sir George Trevelyan saw the mission of his later years as an 'exploration into God'. From the moment when in 1942 he first tagged along to a lecture given by one of Rudolph Steiners students – "I have no doubt", he later said, "that this event in my life was staged by higher destiny, and that the time was ripe for a leap in consciousness" – he began to work towards the promotion of an alternative spirituality. Trevelyan spoke with inspiration of the planet Earth as "a living being, in a living universe.... a universe which is a great ocean of life and thought". Alongside such ideas as communal living and organic farming, he explored beliefs in angels and the purified vision of the unicorn, the power of ley lines, and the calming effects of crystals. In 1971 he set up the Wrekin Trust to promote spiritual knowledge and education, and take the New Age message to the world. Annually he would convene a 'Round Table' conference – appropriate perhaps for a man whose family coat of arms linked him to Sir Trevillian, one of King Arthurs legendary knights – for the leaders of healing centres and holistic organisations. He was much involved in the Findhorn Foundation in Moray, an international experiment in community living, and with the Gatekeeper and Open Gate trusts for the reawakening of pilgrimages to sacred places. In 1982 he was awarded the 'alternative Nobel Prize', the Right Livelihood award, for his work towards 'healing the planet'.
