Edition, What Edition ?
This item was delivered in a very timely manner. It was quiet a surprise to receive it so quickly. What the problem was, was that it was the TOTALLY WRONG EDITION, and I could not find the paperwork to return IT. It wasn't until the 3rd week of the school year till I was able to see that it was off-----the page that would say the edition had been removed / prior to my receiving it.Another case of Buyer Beware !

Good for brushing up on math skills
I'm going back to school after 25 years so this has helped me brush up on my math skills that I had forgotten or haven't used in awhile. Don't get too discouraged if you are having troubles getting some of your answers to match the answer key. Some of the answers are WRONG!!! I spent a lot of time on some problems trying to figure out HOW they could have come to their answers and why I came to mine...I came across wrong answers in the key at least once or twice through each section.

Basic Math and Pre-Algebra
I was helping a young man study for the ASVAB test.After this review, he passed his test with 100% right.

Great for Arithmetic Review, Not so great for Pre-Algegra
The book gives very good review of basic mathematics. When it comes to the last couple of chapters, where they go over beginning albegra, the examples were very good for VERY basic algebra. Then they give you more complicated problems without detailed examples of how the problems are solved. SO, 5 stars for basic math and 2 stars for the pre-algebra = an average score of 3.5.

Good books, very helpul - but not the best in my opinion.
Personally, I fared much better with Painless Algebra (Barron's Painless) by Lynette Long Ph.D.It was much cheaper and was also purchased via Amazon with free shipping.I started my studies with Basic Math & Pre-Algebra for Dummies, but found myself grasping concepts much more clearly and quickly while reading Barron's book...so I made the jump and finished with Barron's book.


With that said, I did jump back to the Dummies books a few times for a handful of topics, such as fractions, that Barron's book does not cover. Considering the very competitive Amazon prices and vast selection (You really can't beat them!) my personal recommendation would be to purchase all three books - if you need them of course :)I certainly did after a 10 year break from college!Hope this helps!

Great teaching aid
What a great product!My 14 yr. old reads the teaching text, puts in the cd to listen/watch the instruction for the examples, then works his problems.Then he puts in the solutions cd to see if he got them right!He loves it.It's like having his very own teacher in your house.
