Winka Dubbledam's (Con-Tex-Ture)
Winka Dubbledam's book Con-Tex-Ture is a clear well organized portfolio of her designs. Each project starts with simple concept diagrams that are carried throughout the coverage of the section. She is the latest architectof the "Dutch Explosion" who has worked for OMA, Tschumi, Holland Eisenman. A very interesting project is a ferry terminal modeled on theexpansion and contraction of a rubber band. The form of this building is amobius strip with program intelligently worked into it. While the majorityof her works are unbuilt and represented with computer renderings, thebuilt projects have unique expression. I highly recommend this book forthose curious about the possible direction of the architecture to come. ... Read more

Scholarly study rich with anecdotes -
This book, with Foreward by Dr. Kevin Starr, California State Librarian, is not only a scholarly architectural study of 5 decades of productivity, but also also semi-biographical history with its treasure of anecdotes on the identities and backgrounds of the clients who commissioned these residential and commercial buildings in the architectural wonderland that was Southern California in the pre-World War II period. This book was a wonderful read!
