5-0 out of 5 stars Best Kept secret for Arthritis
This book helped me so much.My Rheumatologist prescribed hydroxycholoroquine for my arthritis about 5 years ago.I had it so bad I could hardly walk.I could not bend my wrists or ankles.I was in so much pain. But the drug required that I see an opthomologist twice a year because there was a rare chance it could blind me!I didn't like the sound of that, so I sought alternatives.I found this book and followed the instructions the best I could. Now I am nearly pain free- have been for about 5 years - and I take absolutely no drugs for my arthritis! This book is a Godsend!

5-0 out of 5 stars If you have arthritis you need this book....
I was given this book at 18 years of age. I had been suffering from RA for the previous 7 years. At that point in my life I thought everything was hopeless, I'd never be able to work, no one would ever want to marry me and I would end up alone and in pain for the rest of my life.

Needles to say none of this happened. This book changed my life.
I put put heart and soul into following the recommendations and within a couple of weeks I went off the meds (much to my dr's disapproval mind you!) and have not looked back since. I have not had a flare up in 15 years.

This is my fifth time ordering this book (though up till now I have had to get it from AMazon UK)Not for myself but to give to others.I have even bought a copy for my doctor! No one should have to suffer needlessly and I really believe if there is anything you can do toimprove things you owe it to yourself to give it your best shot.I cringe everytime I hear someone say there is no cure for arthritis because it is simply not true.

I cannot recommend this book high enough, it is well written and simply makes sense.I hope that it helps you as much as it did me.

Best of luck!

5-0 out of 5 stars Not Just a Reader but a Patient
I BEG anyone with any autoimmune disease to read this book!I was swollen beyond control.Taking preds, metho, napro, plaqu, and many other drugs. This therapy is slowly giving me my life back!!! I STILL can't find a doctor in Chicago who will do this. They want to kill me first with drugs, but Dr. Brown, and Dr. Scammel have changed my life with these books. Thank you for helping us to live even while passed on...... READ, TAKE ACTION, BELIEVE.

5-0 out of 5 stars Real breakthrough about arthritis and it works
This is an interesting book with chapters interleaved with thoery and reallife cases studies.Doctor Thomas Mc Pherson explain the causes of thearthritis and it's mode of treatement. He also talks about the actualresearch approches of the treatement of the disease. His approch isdifferent. If we summarize, arthritis is an infection related disease, that can be cured by a simple antibiotic (monocyclin) a derivative oftetracyclin. Both antibiotics can be used for the treatment. He explainsthat a common bacteria (mycoplasm) that live in everybody may outgrownormal levels and trigger immune reaction that is misinterpreted as anautoimmune disease. He give also many evidences for its theory.Duringhis years of pratice doctor Thomas McPherson Brown cured thousands ofpatients of this terrible disease.

I wanted to submit this review becausewe convinced an arthritis specialist to apply this approch to a relative atan advanced stage of arthritis. This relative was illed since many years. Within an year the disease completly disappear from the body of thisperson.Blood tests show today that there is no more arthritis.

Manyinterests are reluctant to caution this approch. In some way this an idealdisease for a pharmaceutics company.A disease that is considereduncurable, and for which you are condamned to take forever drugs that aremore expensive as the disease progress. Many searchers who investigate theautoimmune theory and worked in that direction for years are reluctant toconsider that there is a such easy solution to this problem.

I wouldheartily recommend this book to anyone who has this disease.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book in its field.
Not only have I read this book, I have used its remedy. In July, 1996 Iwas diagnosed with Lyme Disease, then later with rheumatoid arthritis.Iwas treated for Lyme Disease for about 45 days (which has similarsymptoms). Then my husband found The Arthritis Breakthrough book at ourlocal Waldenbooks.Once I read the book, it was just a matter of findingsomeone who would try the treatment according to the book.I couldn'tbelieve how difficult this was!Rheumatologists are not conditioned tothink "cure", they think "symptomatic".Therefore, even though the treatment is so low risk, nobody I called wanted to listen. Depending on the severity of the disease, the book recommends a beginninglow dose of minocycline and anti-inflammatory.Since I was diagnosedearly, I began 50mg, 3X per week and and anti-inflammatory daily. After 3mos., I discontinued the anti-inflammatory and began taking Aleve as Ineeded it.Over the span of the last 18 mos., the minocyline has beenincreased gradually to the dose I take now of 200mg, 4X a week.I expectto be cured by this November. Before this book, I could barely walk. Now Iam back to a normal life of golf, gardening, swimming, etc.If I couldgive this book 10 stars, it certainly deserves it!It has changed my life. ... Product Description

Designed to be a practical handbook on clinical trial management in these key therapeutic areas, 'Clinical Trials in Rheumatoid Arthritis and Osteoarthritis' is aimed at principal investigators pharmaceutical physicians and other pharmaceutical staff involved in the design, conduct and monitoring of these increasingly complex diseases.

In the last several years a new classes of biologic agents have emerged and changed the treatment paradigm for patients, not only with classically defined rheumatoid arthritis, but also with other related diseases such as ankylosing spondylitis and psoriatic arthritis.  Furthermore, osteoarthritis is a major disease state that is often treated by the rheumatologist, but is one where patient management programs are currently limited with a need for new therapeutic approaches.

In both inflammatory and non-inflammatory arthritic conditions, clinical trials have become both large and complex due to the nature of the diseases, with ever-challenging new surrogate end-points being employed.

Topics covered in this title will therefore include study design, clinical endpoints, technical issues, data collection, use of centralized medical image reading facilities and biochemical marker laboratories, as well as data analysis and future therapies.  This book takes the user through the process step-by-step from start to finish, also providing a background on the regulatory guidelines, ethical implications, endpoints, and current therapies.

3-0 out of 5 stars inflammation info
This is not the most organized presentation of inflammation although it has extensive information on the topic.
I would have liked to have seen more whole foods recommendations in a book titled "The Complete Nutritional Program..."
I'm more than a little frustrated with suggestions to take supplements rather than good quality food.
Overall, I was disappointed and would not recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars Life Saver!
This book has been an absolute life saver for me.At the time I found this book, I was suffering from severe arthritis in my knees, hips, tailbone, and neck. I was hurting so bad, I was seriously worried I would no longer be able to work. I had been on just about every single arthritis medication there is from pills, to injections, to infusions. Nothing helped.

I bought this book in desperation and immediately began to change my diet. It was the only thing I had not tried and that doctors had not even suggested. I eliminated processed foods, red meat, eggs, nightshades, most dairy, and all oils with the exception of olive oil, coconut oil, and real butter. I also eliminated white flour, breads, and pastas. My diet consists primarily of fresh fruit, fresh veggies, chicken, fish, turkey, nuts, brown rice, and only healthy oils. I noticed a difference in only a couple of days, and it took precisely 5 days to be completely pain free for the first time in 22 years! I absolutely cannot believe the difference. I am also a type II diabetic and my blood sugar has improved tremendously. I've lost 6 bls so far without even trying, and my chronic stomach problems have disappeared. I'm feeling so much healthier!

This way of eating has done for me what over $100,000 in meds was unable to do. I can't believe I suffered for so many years. It wasn't easy to eliminate those things at first, but I will do absolutely anything to keep the pain from returning. After being on the diet for 10 days now, I'm certain I can keep with it.I highly recommend this book to anyone who has chronic inflammatory issues that have not been relieved by traditional medicine. It worked for me, and I'm soooo greatful!

5-0 out of 5 stars Challem is a great writer

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellant book
One of the best health books I have read. I recomend it for everyone with auto imune problems, diabites, Heart disease, Asthma, Arthritis. In fact its good for any one getting older.

5-0 out of 5 stars Also the inflammation cure
I feel the same as everyone else, this book is full of excellent information and is backed by tons of research.

Perhaps not the easiest read, but if you are health-minded and want to learn the cause and cure for inflammation and related diseases, this book is excellent.

For those looking to treat arthritis and muscle and joint issues, I would like to recommend "The Permanent Pain Cure" By Ming Chew as an excellent companion book.

I used both books and tons of additional research to recover from shoulder surgery well ahead of time and also relieve a two year old knee injury. Additionally, I feel tons better, have resisted the flu while everyone else in my family was sick, relieved some allergy symptoms, and am a believer for life.

I highly recommend this book. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars The best book out there.

It explains the various aspects of the disease, what one can expect to happen, how to cope with the pain and how to organize your life in order to minimize the stress the disease can cause. The book does not candy-coat the disease, but does show how it can be managed. It explains the different drugs that are available to help and it explains their side-effects, also. There are helpful hints to diet and exercise, as well. I found this to be a very important book for me because it gave me the ground-work for dialog with my doctor. I am glad I found this book. ...
