Product Description
In 1647, William Lilly, renowned throughout England, sat down to write his famous book on astrology. He was ill, but he had foreseen that.He decided that rather than struggle with clients while sick, he would give himself a year to study, reflect, and write. But before he was quite finished with his book, plague swept through London, killing two of his servants, and forcing Lilly and family to flee to the countryside.

This is Book Three, An Easie and plaine Method Teaching How to judge upon Nativities, the conclusion of his great work, Christian Astrology.

In this astounding book, Lilly gives not only his own hard-won knowledge of natal astrology, but also what he gleaned from close study of the greatest astrologers in history, as found in his own astrological library, one of the largest of its day.In this book you may learn:

•How to determine the Hyleg, or Apheta, the Prorogator of Life.
•How to determine intelligence, stature, shape and complexion of the native.
•If the native will be rich, and, if so, whether by fair means or foul.
•The illnesses he may suffer, if he may die a violent death.
•Of Marriage: The number and kinds of spouses, where they may come from, if there will be children or not, and if so, an idea of their number.
•The kind of career best suited to the native, and much more.

In the section on Directions and Forecasting, Lilly gives comprehensive interpretations for Primary Directions, Solar Returns and Profections. The book concludes with a priceless analysis of the Nativity of an English Merchant, including more than twenty years of forecasts, up to the time that Lilly judged to be the end of the man’s natural life.

For the first time, unique to this edition:Spelling and verbs modernized.Glossary of obscure terms, including Latin words and phrases. Calculations in modern format. All 24 solar returns and all 12 profection charts in standard wheel format.Fixed star positions updated to 1 January 2005.Modern symbols for aspects (including minor aspects) used throughout.Primaries untangled, as much as possible.

Available separately: Christian Astrology, (books 1 & 2): An Introduction to Astrology, The Resolution of All Manner of Questions, by William Lilly. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Source
William Lilly is a bit of an eccentric and his work takes some getting used to in the format in which he presents his descriptions of the Natives life path when doing a Natal Reading for a Native. He puts it together in the formation of how one works with in contecting the houses as they work to complement one another or simply how one house works its energies with another. When reading his work I found I was searching over and over for the intreptions for the fifth house and found it located after the seventh, coming to understand that most seek marriage prior to having children, which in more ancient times was the way things were done, however, today that is truly a different theme.

Any way, this is one source that one should have in their library if doing readings or if seeking to learn from one of the traditional astrologers.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Masterful Lilly
A Masterful Lilly

For any astrologer or scholar who wants a copy of William Lilly's classic text, this is the only edition to consider. David Roell of Astrology Classics has completely re-set the text in a modern font in this beautiful edition. A number of Lilly's original pages, tables and page headings as well as all of the original horoscopes have been reproduced to give the reader the flavor of Lilly's elaborate 1647 publication. The editor has taken great pains to meticulously follow the original Lilly text while artfully updating the language and formatting to produce an extremely attractive and readable volume.

This edition has a number of extras that place it at the top of the available Lilly texts. Along with Lilly's original charts, all the horoscopes are calculated and printed in modern format with explanations of necessary date and time adjustments. There are helpful margin notes, a glossary of terms, an updated fixed star list, and a re-ordered index, plus the editor's preface and invaluable explanatory notes. My only regret is that such a superior edition of Lilly isn't available in a gold embossed durable hardback to match the skilled editing within. Individual pages of this edition can be previewed here: [...]

This is the second of a set of two volumes which cover Lilly's entire original text. Be sure to check out the matching first volume and the comprehensive review by Christopher Warnock. As Amazon advises, buy both volumes together. There will never be a better Lilly for your library.

5-0 out of 5 stars a must have book
for those who seek a deeper understanding in ancient astrology, this is a book one should have under his hands. an enciclopedia of knowledge, and tips, saves hundreds of hours of searching the net. It will take a long time until I will " absorb" the whole book, but I never start analysing a map without it.

5-0 out of 5 stars Classical Astrology Text Book
In the past 15 years Modern Astrologers have been researching and uncovering the History of their craft. Christian Astrology, book 3: Nativities by William Lilly was published in 1647. This edition has been meticulously researched and published by David Roell of The Astrology Center of America. I particularly like the Glossary of Terms in Appendix 4 which defines many of the more difficult terms in Lilly's text. Lilly's presentation of Natal Astrology is detailed with references to ancient practices as well as practices of the 17th century. This information is helpful in understanding the origin of the basic principles of astrological techniques. Specific examples of astrological aspects reflect the more fated atmosphere of the time. I find that a comprehensive study of Lilly's text in concert with modern astrological practices enriches the appreciation of our astrological traditions. Lilly's text requires the committment of a serious student but is well worth the effort. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent astrology book
This book is not only full of great information, but it's fun to read. You can't go wrong.

5-0 out of 5 stars Buy this Astrology Book First!
A very good introduction into astrology, mixed in with alot of humor. This is great for a begginner and just as informative for thoose who have dabbled awhile. Enjoyable to read, as she gently walks you through each understanding, having you laughing all the way.

4-0 out of 5 stars This was a fun book to read
This book is a nice little addition to my personal library collection.
I found it to be very amusing to read and it taught me some new things as well. You won't regret reading this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars funny... and insightful!
i find some of the astrology books which try to take on a playful and funny tone can be dumb, and fall short of the mark in terms of content. not so with Kim Rogers Gallagher! she is the master of "light-hearted" astrology.. this book is informative and very insightful!

there is a part of AFTLSOTB which pops into my head all of the time. Pets.... and where they belong. As both and astrology and pet lover myself,I would like to weigh in on this issue. Intuitively, I'd say the 5th, where loves, children, creativity, and play goes. Pets in my family are like little friends/ family, and my dog definitely sparks my creativity. Also, the after work walk is what breaks up my day -- right in between work (6th house) and home (4th house): the 5th house.
I think the single down-side with pets is that their lives are too short, so we can only have them for a limited number of years. This would also be the down-side of our other 5th house experiences -- childhood, love affairs, play time.

anyway, if you are looking for a fun and funny beginner's astrology book, this one is tops. i also like the sequal, which deals with transits.

5-0 out of 5 stars A unique book!
Astrology for the Light Side of the brain is a great read. Rarely is a book both informative AND fun -- this book is just that. Kim Rogers-Gallagher's writing is colorful and vibrant, and I couldn't put the book down. ... Read more

Product Description
Using a new language of energy based on the ancient “four elements” and in harmony with that used by the more advanced healing arts, renowned author Stephen Arroyo here explores how astrology as a language of energy can be astoundingly accurate and useful in illuminating individuals’ energy exchange in all close relationships. The preface, author’s note, introduction, and early chapters of Person-to-Person Astrology lay the groundwork for serious consideration of astrology as a significant discipline. The following chapters detail the influence of the four elements—Fire, Earth, Water, Air—on the 12 signs, with a particular emphasis on the rising sign (Ascendant). The author shows readers how to experiment by comparing birth charts, and explains, through detailed descriptions, people’s psychological motivations and needs based on the positions of their Moon, Venus, and Mars. Appendices include astrological definitions, keywords, and sign tables that allow readers quick access to the basics. Written in the author’s trademark clear, accessible style, Person-to-Person Astrology presents a new approach to finding fulfillment in any kind of relationship. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars Very Informative Indeed*
Yes, everything i read was RIGHT ON !- Good way to understand people near and dear to one self. - I enjoyed it indeed.

5-0 out of 5 stars A stimulating explanation of compatibility at the energy level!

A review of PERSON-TO-PERSON ASTROLOGY by a professional counselor recently appeared in the Canadian publication The Astrological Guild Book Review. Unlike a couple of previous Amazon reviewers of this book, this woman (who holds a M.Ed. degree) has obviously read this important and stimulating new book carefully and open-mindedly. She notes that "this book was a very engaging read" and that Arroyo's approach "resonates with the energies that we are made up of and can be felt in everyday life." She seems to detect and appreciate many of the same qualities in this book that another reviewer in "Mountain Astrologer" magazine commented on and praised (available online). The Canadian review concludes: "Although Arroyo claims this book is written for interested non-astrologers or those at the novice level, I would recommend it as well for those who are more advanced ...as it is well written, informative and inspires a more visceral, meaningful understanding of our experience."
It is unfortunate that some Amazon reviewers are so self-centered that they can't see the book itself for what it is, and only judge it based on whether it fulfills their "expectations" of flattering comments about their own wonderful birth charts. It is revealing that a couple reviewers who are "disappointed" still give the book 4 stars! And they do not seem to appreciate the scope of research or the variety of new approaches and observations about astrology contained in this fascinating book.
The comments about Arroyo's repetition from his earlier books are misleading, exaggerated, and inaccurate, since I would estimate that at least 95% of this book is entirely new material. He actually further refines the keywords and evocative key phrases developed in his deservedly popular classic works. All of the quotes from questionnaires and interviews with a wide variety of people are new, as are the extensive quotes from researchers, scientists, psychologists, and various well-known historical figures. He is obviously well read.
In short, there is simply nothing else in astrological literature or astrological research that remotely resembles this book. And none of the dozens of books on astrology, relationships, and compatibility explains human interaction at the energy level like this volume does; nor do any of the other books contain a trace of research to substantiate their assertions--let alone such a wide-ranging and intellectually stimulating cornucopia of intriguing and often striking new ideas. The depth of the psychological portraits of the sign placements of the Moon, Venus, and Mars alone make this book worth twice the price.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Master reaches out in style!
If you have heard or suspected that there might be some substantial truth in astrology, this is an excellent place for an open and intelligent mind to start.

Over the last 30 years, Stephen Arroyo has achieved widespread international recognition for his outstanding astrological writings. In his previous books he has explored the depth and complexity of modern psychological astrology in clear, accessible, entertaining language. However, this book is written more for the general reader and independent thinker, not astrologers who already know their stuff!

The first few chapters explore a wide range of issues related to both astrology's lack of widespread acceptance and the problems of forming healthy relationships in the modern world. Arroyo refers to the "mass psychosis" of the modern Western lifestyle that bombards us with commercial images and unrealistic expectations. Our ability to form relationships with each other is one area that suffers as a result. The author suggests that if more people opened their minds to what serious astrology has to offer, they would find a much-needed, precise, insightful tool for self-understanding.

Arroyo gradually moves on to explore astrological basics such as the four elements, the twelve signs and the rising sign. The personal planets and relationships are covered in great depth, with countless everyday quotes and examples from many years of observation. This is very high quality writing that deserves respect.

3-0 out of 5 stars After waiting for so many years...
For a new book from my absolute favorite astrology author
I was quite disappointed .
No new insights, a lot of basic and retreaded information from his older books.
I still use all his older material on a regular basis and recommend them highly for their incredible insights into the human condition but this one is really not worth it for anyone who is already familiar with his work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best book on relationships!
I'm a longtime fan of Mr. Arroyo's work and Person-to-Person Astrology to me is his Magnum Opus.I heard he had a new book out from a very perceptive review by Mary Plumb at [...] which really gives an excellent overview. I agree with her assessment that "this is a wise and wonderful book." It's very accessible for non-astrologers and yet it has so much to offer us perennial students of the subject.

I really enjoyed the beginning chapters. He's quite critical of our modern culture and observes how it prevents us from recognizing our authentic selves, and shows how astrology can help us discover our essential nature, and recognize our individual motivations and expectations. He's an amazingly clear writer who's not afraid to tell it how he sees it... andeven if you don't agree, it's really thought provoking!

What's different about this book, compared to other astrology books, is its scientific and scholarly approach. This isn't just `theory'. Over 30 years of research and counseling he gathered hundreds of quotes from interviews and questionnaires so you get real people's experiences to illustrate the "energy interaction" between people. He also has found the best quotes from other respected authors' observations and gives full references to their sources. All these quotations combine to give us a clear overview so we can better understand our relationships and how we resonate or clash with each other.... He explores many little-noted aspects of astrological factors and really illuminates their meanings in a strikingly original way. This is a great practical guide for analyzing relationships.
UPDATED:
Additional reviews have recently been published that are not available online, which objectively confirm my initial evaluation of this book. The Journal of the largest organization in the UK, The Astrological Association, points out that PERSON-TO-PERSON ASTROLOGY "shows how astrological knowledge can be a useful tool for those seeking more authentic ways of relating." I would emphasize the word "authentic" since it is a major theme in this book, which seeks to strip away a lot of the socially conditioned and politically correct veneers we encounter. The reviewer calls Mr. Arroyo's writing "lucid and inspirational" and states that it is "refreshing to be reminded how straightforward and useful this energy approach to Astrology can be."

Also, a review in the USA's largest circulation popular astrology magazine, Dell's HOROSCOPE, is extraordinarilycomplimentary about the quality of this new book, calling it "one of the most comprehensive, explicit guides to the psychology of relationships," and goes on to say that "Arroyo's take on astrology transcends most anything on relationships you can find, and this includes any book in the pop-psychology, self-help, spiritual, or astrology sections of your favorite bookstore." The review concludes: "PERSON-TO-PERSON ASTROLOGY is bound to become an instant classic. Anyone interested in the astrology of relationships would be well advised to get this book before anything else."
Check it out! You won't be disappointed! ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Astounding job on Zodiac signs from a fresh perspective.
If you like Linda Goodmans version of Astrology, then i am sure you will like Bill tierney's version. He provides the same fresh perspective on each sign, and showing new things we may not have understood about other astrology sides from a birds eye view.

4-0 out of 5 stars Good book for beginners.
I am newly into astrology. This was a good book for newbies like me.Had good overall descriptions.

5-0 out of 5 stars All the information you'll need
Never have I read a book with so much information on the Zodiac. Not only does it tell us the personality traits and qualities of each sign, it also allows to see why.In this book you will read about The elements of each sign, and the modes of each sign.
This book allowed me to understand the Zodiac signs in a fuller and deeper way than I had hoped. It shows us every angle of the Zodiac not just the basics.
It compares signs to reality, allowing us to understand more fully. This book helped me think of the Zodiac in a more serious way.I enjoyed the analogies it gave, without these, I probably would have been bored.
It listed fascinating facts, ones I had never heard of.It explained the uniqueness of each sign, better than any source ever has.
A great read!

5-0 out of 5 stars Top notch
This book is well written, thoughtful, and informative. The author fleshes out the meanings of the twelve zodiacal signs and discusses their interrelationships.I read a lot of books on astrology and this one stands out for the clarity and enjoyableness of its writing.I would highly recommend it to beginners as well as advanced students. It is a model for how to present the horoscope symbols to those unfamiliar with astrology. My only regret is that I did not write it myself.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Top-Notch Book on Sign Combinations
Bil Tierney's latest book offers something seldom found in others: information about sign-to-sign detailed descriptions about sign pairings, like Taurus with Sagittarius, or Leo with Virgo.Yet such hard-to-find astrological material is here explained in ways that shed additional light on the qualities of both signs involved.

All Around the Zodiac is written in a clear and enjoyable style, and is loaded with insightful ideas. It is NOT a Sun-sign book, although parts of it could be used as such. The general influence of a sign on a house cusp (i.e., our "Leo" house) is discussed, along with samples of how natal planets may behave in every sign.I appreciated the author's effort to compare and contrast each sign with its ruling planet.

The introductory chapters on elements and modes are very informative. Each sign's main themes are also described, often in humorous, but thought-provoking ways.I feel this book is a major contribution to better understanding every sign's motivation. It's a practical, down-to-earth resource that should be read from cover to cover (rather than just for the parts that only apply to one's chart).Check it out, and get ready to learn a lot from a pro who apparently has been at it for a long time. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Well worth reading
This is a rich, varied, and highly readable astrological volume. Thought provoking, insightful, creative - suitable for beginners as well as advanced practitioners. Filled with exercises, visualizations, activities, questions - lots to work with here. But it's not heavy handed - the prose flows very nicely.
The Moon, its nodes, planetary transits, progressions, counseling ideas, self-help, helping others, mythological references, interesting quotations; there's even some poetry - something for everyone.
If you previously read any of the components of this book, it's worth buying it for the new chapter alone - Beyond Fate and Free Will - some knock-out musings on quantum consciousness. It certainly inspired me.

5-0 out of 5 stars The ideal manual on astrology
The stars have been guiding humankind throughout its history. "The Astrology of Self-Discovery: An In-Depth Exploration of the Potentials Revealed in Your Birth Chart" is a new and revised edition of the famed volume on astrology. Explaining the beliefs laid out within them and how they can be used to explore one's inner nature and possibly plot out one's future in order to better prepare them, it's a solid primer on the subject that starting readers will find hard to beat. "The Astrology of Self-Discovery" is the ideal manual on astrology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Unique insights
Like most of you reading this I am waiting for my copy of this book, which has been on order for over a month. Unlike you I once owned it and lost it to Katrina. I was surprized and happy to see this volume available again because Tracy had lost interest in her astrological work and decided to devote herself full time to photography. Apparently she is once again doing at least some astrology work and that is a very good thing. Her mix of psychology and astrology falls between the extreme Jungian mythological approach of authors like Karen Hamaker-Zondag and the straight forward but insightful work of Robert Hand. This book is well worth the wait and I'll write more when I get my copy and can refresh my memory. ... Read more

3-0 out of 5 stars A Spiritual Approach to Astrology
As stated the cover was shabby but the book itself, which was hardbound was in perfect condition.

4-0 out of 5 stars A solid survey of astrology
This book is for you if you want to know more "nitty-gritty" information about the chart. There are good, positive descriptions of the 12 signs, houses, and 10 planets. She shows you how a chart is set up and how the planets move around the sky. She gives good, positive descriptions of planetary energy in each sign, and of aspects between planets.

I really like her section on the phases of the Moon and the Part of Fortune. She helped me understand how the two are related.

My only criticism is of the way this book is arranged.Planetsand houses are mixed in with signs, so that Mars goes first (with Aries) and Venus appears in the Taurus section and so on.It can be difficult to quickly find what you're looking for.

5-0 out of 5 stars refreshing and tranforming
The hardest part for any student of astrology is erasing the ego....Mrs. Lofthus did just that in this book. She explains the inner relations of astrology very clearly. I'd thought that I would never find any usefulinformation in this day of quick and easy profit bearing astrology but thisbook transformed my studies and took me to a totally different level. Thereis only so much a person can take of those books before you realize the egoinvolved in writting them is limiting your true understanding. Mrs. Lofthususes clear symbols to permanently fix information in your head and at yourdisposal.I only wish she wrote more books.

5-0 out of 5 stars A great approach to Astrology.
This book is well written and worth the time to read.I, however, disagree with the previous summary stating that Myrna Lofthus displays anunpleasantly homophobic streak in characterizing the Plutonian aspects ofregenerations stating that heterosexual sex count as truly regeneration. If you knew Mrs. Lofthus such as I do you would know that she is notbigoted or against gays.In fact she is for them.I think that it is atrue misconception to write something that is so faults. This is anexcellent book.I am not stating this just because I am related to her butbecause it is the truth. Please do not assume something until you know thetruth. Mryna Lofthus has always been very open minded and searches for thetruth and to be able to help others. Please do not believe everything youread. If you have any questions you can write to me I will be glad toforward any questions directly to Mrs. Lofthus.S. Lofthus, Edmonds,Washington

3-0 out of 5 stars A fresh approach to astrology
This book offers an in-depth look at how astrology can enrich ourspiritual lives. Lofthus provides a comprehensive study of each sign, rulerand house, as well an a good scientific description of the physicalproperties of each planet.I found the most valuable part of the book washer summary of the spiritual and karmic aspects in a chart, which offeredmore specific detail than the average book on astrology. But a warning: Lofthus displays an unpleasantly homophobic streak in characterizing thePlutonian aspects of regeneration: she states that only "heterosexualsex" counts as truly regenerative.I'm not gay, but I found this tobe highly offensive and bigoted. If you can ignore this one flaw, this isa worthwhile addition to an astrological library. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars $50 for a $13 dollar book
This book is hard to find and out of print but people still keep looking for it. I have a collection of astrology books and the books by the Magi Society are by far the finest. I bought the second book for $200 dollars and will not even think about selling it.

But the greatest thing is that the Magi Society continues to make new discoveries in Astrology. As a member I have learned the symbolism for Juno, Vesta, Ceres, Pallas and most recently Sedna. These are not used by most astrologers but I have found them to be very insightful.

This is their 1st book and doesn't do justice to Magi Astrology today. But it is still revolutionary in the world of Astrology.

4-0 out of 5 stars An Old Idea With A New Twist
"Astrology Really Works" presents a new approach to an age old study. It demonstrates a new technique for studying charts, especially when the time of birth is missing.Best of all, the writers only include information they can prove statistically without debunking old information that may be valid but is not proveable at this time. The Magi Society shows a healthy respect for ancient astrology but is focused on what can be proven by modern methods.Since so many people don't know and cannot obtain their time of birth, this is an extremely useful and promising technique. The method and new chart construction can be used with or without an accurate birth time.I did not give the book 5 stars because the writing style was a little childlike.Despite this shortcoming, I would strongly recommend the book to Astrologers and to skeptics. The Society states and proves its case well. I think established Astrologers will begin to take Magi methods seriously as they begin to open their minds to the possibility that there can be something new under the Sun.

5-0 out of 5 stars Proves Astrology is a mathmatical Science not occult
This book has been based on what could be called observational astrology and takes the occult out of of what once was a mathmaticalscience. It along with the Magi Emphemeris and there latest book "Key to Successin Love and Money" is based on proving that observational research andnot myths/occult is what astrology is all about and it works!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Greatest Book Today
I read this book after browsing it a few times. I really like the way it teaches one how to look at an ephemeris to see where, exactly, one has more power to use as governed by these Magi Astrologers. The historical factualdata presented here is endlessly interesting and allows one to do his owndeducing. I really think this book is one of the best kept secrets(?) ofthis modern age. Anyone who reads it cover to cover will be blessed withgreat intelligence and wisdom. It should be required reading in school. Iswear I did not write this book and I do not work for Hay House Publishing.I am just a very in-depth person who enjoys analysing things to the finestdetail, this book is tailor made to my mind. If I knew this book 10 yearsago, who knows who much MORE intelligent I would be.

5-0 out of 5 stars this book is about new scientific astrology
This book is very different from other astrological books. In fact the Magi Society claims to have done their research on thousands of horoscopes (without taking into account the hour of birth !). I find this a verypositive approach since not all people know their time of birth and theresearch makes it possible to come to certain very innovative conclusions. In this book you will find a lot of forgotten techniques (the importance ofdeclinations and midpoints thereof - see also the books of the Germanastrologer R. Ebertin). I have followed some of their rules and have foundthem useful and very true too. This is a book you will often read again, and again. There is a lot in it and this book is not for novices - thoughit reads like a novel. The Magic Society's approach on astrology may changeyour look on astrology in a very positive way. They may be right to havefound a method which proves that astrology really works ! I can't wait toread all their other books too ! ... Read more

Hello,

Yes, I received my book in a very timely manner. The book was advertised in very good condition but actually looks brand new. I would recommend this service to anyone. Dixie Turner

4-0 out of 5 stars nice new way to begin with
A very interesting book, to begin with, could be improved in a further edition however.
forserious astrologers, read all Noel Tyl great work.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS BOOK WILL TEACH YOU ASTROLOGY !
Someone below thinks no astrology books should be written after their favorite author died; someone else doesn't approve because Noel Tyl didn't write this book.Mr. Tyl is busy teaching advanced astrology and being incredibly available to the public on the forum on his website. Why shouldn't his star pupil write a book for beginners following the Tyl method? If you're an astrology student what you need to know is that THIS BOOK WILL TEACH YOU VERY GOOD ASTROLOGY.Complete this book, faithfully answering all the test questions, and you will not be bashful or uncertain about your capabilities in astrology.Mr. Fearrington makes it fun and about as easy as it can get.Great book!

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Text!!
This book is a great learning text that helps to keep the student of beginning astrology focused. Each chapter ending with a summary and quiz is a wonderful help for reinforcement. And, while the basic signs, planets, aspects, and houses are covered, Fearrington also covers keys to interpretation that are not often seen in beginner texts, such as the Aries Point, configurations such as the Grand Trine and T-square, the quindecile, the meaning of Saturn Rx., and hemispheric emphasis.Chart examples of well-known figures are used in this very readable, easily understood text.It provides an excellent beginning place for anyone wanting to learn to be an effective astrologer who can cut to the chase quickly, as well as a refresher with some new perspective for those who already have some astrological experience. This is well worth the time!

3-0 out of 5 stars whatever helps
Tell me when they come up with a new method for waking up in the morning. Until then, I'll just do it the old way. I studied astrology for about seven years with the late Ivy Jacobson, who was without a doubt the best astrologer around and whose books, while difficult to find these days, are absolutely the best, with the rare exception of a couple of others, "The Morinus System of Horoscope Interpretation," published by the American Federation of Astrologers, for example (J.B. Morin wrote his incomparably logical books in France in the 1660s). As a result of learning with Ivy Jacobson, the charts I've done have always been extremely accurate in their predictions, right to the day. Her methods are the most complete and precise there are. Most astrologers either overlook, or are completely ignorant of, much of what she has to teach. As the astrologer who directed me to her said to me: "If you really want to learn astrology, go to Ivy Jacobson. She's the best teacher there is." So, dear readers of astrology, if you really want to learn this golden science to perfection, look up the American Federation of Astrologers, located in Tempe, Arizona, and ask them for a list of the books of Ivy Jacobson. Get whatever you can and gobble it up! I doubt, however, that they are printing her correspondence course. But good luck in your studies. Astrology is the very heart of the occult sciences, and worth every ounce of trouble it takes to learn. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Feng Shui Key Unlocking knowledge
Not only do I have three copies of this book and use it in all my my own fengshui and design consultations, but I
personally know the author Jon Sandifer. This book is valuable to everyone, for understanding romantic relationships, to
family dynamics and business partnerships.Jon has studied his entire life, and he has a clear, concise way of bringing the information to you.Gotta have it.

5-0 out of 5 stars good book to read and learn
This is my second book Re Ki.There is new information re gender character. This is usefull information for therapists to understand clients and readers to understandthemselves. One think I would like to point out to Mr Sandiferthat these books are hard to workout for beginers. However it is a good book.

5-0 out of 5 stars best book on 9 star ki for the lay person
Sandifer covers a lot of ground in this book and uses easy to use language and charts. It's hard to put down once you start. Also, I had a question so I e-mailed him about it and he responded to me in less than a day. This is Japanese astrology, not Chinese, so people should know that if they're thinking it's Chinese, it will be a little different. My main reason for getting into 9 star was through feng shui, and although there are many other types of astrology used, this seems to be the easiest, yet applicable for Westerners who are used to getting answers quickly and easily. As long as you know someone's birthdate, you can figure out their chart, no need for exact hour or minute of birth.Well worth the price!

5-0 out of 5 stars Clear, concise and easy to put to immediate use.
This book is deceptively thin!It is rich in information, extremely well-written, and beautifully organized.I was able to put the techniques into immediate use in my feng shui practice.I find it gives much moredepth to my understanding of people and relationships, as well as guidanceregarding timing of decisions, direction of travel, etc. This is the onlybook I keep on my desk, and consult virtually daily in my work.I highlyrecommend it to anyone as a very practical and refined guide, and thanks toJon for his wonderful work.

5-0 out of 5 stars Design Your Destiny with Feng Shui Astrology
Feng Shui Astrology is already helping me as a very valuable tool for guiding me along the path of my destiny by unfolding the mysteries of TIME, SPACE and MOVEMENT.

Jon Sandifer has, in simple terms, explained the'Life Cycle' or the flow of nature and the journey inside the structure ofTime and Space. This fascinating book reveals the understanding of one'senergies of time through the movement of all stations or spaces in one'slife using the Magic Squareof 9 houses.

9 star ki Astrogogy in thisvolume brings another perspective to Feng Shui from the ancient chineseculture. The presentation of calculation methods of numbers against thebackdrop of the meanings of Yin and Yang, Five Transformations, The I Chingand the Magic Square makes it a very useful reference publication, not justfor the Feng Shui enthusiasts but for everyone.

There are detailedcharacter descriptions of the each of the nine types of characters withcomments on their health, occupations and personal developments withexamples of well known figures falling under each catagory. Elementalrelationship cycles are also amplified. Unsafe directions for travels ormoves, monthly and yearly predictions and creation of 81 combinations ofpersonalities makes this a unique reference guide in any system ofAstrology. It is an ideal extention to the superb 9 star ki book by MichioKushi for complete understanding of this oriental science.

Jon'sbackground of being an author of several books in addition to over 20years' experience of both teaching and consultancy work makes him one ofthe worlds greatest contributors in this area and deservedly crowns himwith the chairmanship of the Feng Shui Society of the United Kingdom.

Ihave benefitted from this book immensely and describe it as a light forguiding everyone in understanding themselves and others in the context ofthe energies of their time and space to enable them to "Go with theFlow" and live harmonious and successful lives. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Very informative
have found this book to be a treasure trove of information on astrological rulership of the body and also sign vulnerabilities.
Highly recommended to anyone interested in biochemistry & medical astrology.

5-0 out of 5 stars Nutrition for the Soul....
I have to agree with the previous reviewer here...this book is outstanding. I have medical astrology books by Starck, Tyl, Hill etc; but they are'nt user friendly and they leave a lot of questions still hanging in the air... This book is down to earth and reads as clear as a bell.

The author covers a wide variety of nutrients, foods, hormones, etc. which are required to keep the body in top physical working order and his explanation of rulerships is in depth and accurate. It is difficult to put this book down once you pick it up.....his writing is both facinating and educational. He discusses glands, proteins in the diet, carbohydrates, metabolism, vitamins, minerals and cell salts and a dozen more issues related to our physical/mental health.

This book is an Astrological explosion of wisdom and intelligence...I don't know why it took me so long to find it... I have referred this book to everyone in my astrology group and I will do the same for you....This book is extraordinary in its simplicity!!! Order it before they're all gone!!

With much appreciation to the author and his love of Astrology... Thank you so much for sharing your knowledge. Cheers, Kiwi

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing!
I own multiple books on astrology, probably around 30 from the great authors such as Tyl, Hand, Spiller, Greene, Arroyo, Cunningham, Pond, Parker, etc. I was relatively unfamiliar w/ this author but was interested in the title. Each page of this thin book contains 5 pages of information you'd find in the other books. His writing style is clear and to the point. I found it difficult to put this book down and honestly to fully absorb each page (usually I read a book quickly and still retain information) I did linger on his words. I now wish more of his books were still in print. If you have any interest in health and nutrition,or just astrology in general this book is a gem. ... Read more

Product Description
Integrates the Egyptian pantheon, the ancient language of astrology, and shamanic practices

• Links each of the planets and signs in Western astrology with its Egyptian counterpart, such as Leo with Anubis

• Includes sacred invocations and shamanic rituals to invite the wisdom of each Egyptian deity into your life

• Offers a shamanic way to interpret natal horoscopes

Shamanic Egyptian Astrology integrates the Egyptian pantheon, the ancient language of astrology, and shamanic practices to promote a new way to interpret and work with natal charts. Revealing the cross-cultural mythology and astrological significance of the individual Egyptian gods and goddesses, the authors link each of the 12 zodiac signs and 11 celestial bodies of Western astrology with its Egyptian ancestor, introducing new significance to their positions and interactions in a horoscope. For example, Leo is linked with Anubis and Taurus with Hathor. Venus is associated with the goddess Isis and Jupiter with Horus.

Each chapter includes sacred invocations and shamanic rituals to invite the wisdom of each Egyptian deity into your life--such as calling on Sekhmet for action or Thoth for clarity. With sample interpretations of the charts of Barack Obama and Gloria Steinem, this book provides a practical framework for accessing the wisdom of ancient Egypt and offers astrological and shamanic tools for spiritual guidance and the coming shift in planetary consciousness.

Ruby and Star Wolf really know their stuff! This book is just wonderful. As someone who came in with little knowledge of astrology beyond my Western sun sign it was fascinating to read and learn not just about a new language of astrology, but also about the different Egyptian Gods and Goddesses.Easy to read, a wonderful depth of knowledge, and a brilliant new way to approach astrology.I also love how each chapter end with a ritual to call in and honor each deity, it really helped with absorbing and understanding each sign, a great way to "bring it home" and make it meaningful.I highly recommend to both beginners and experts who are interested in exploring a new aspect of astrology! ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding!
One of the best interpretive astrology books out there. It's not a "basic" book in the sense that it teaches you how to construct a natal chart; it won't walk you through the steps of finding your moon-sign, nor will it tell you if you have a grand-cross or a fire-trine, etc (I suggest spending some time in the FREE HOROSCOPES section of [...] if you need those things, or picking up a copy of PARKER'S ASTROLOGY)...however, when you are ready to sit down and figure out what it means when you have moon-in-Taurus-conjunct-Mars-in-the-6th-house, this book CAN'T be beat. The interpretations of placements are bold, assertive, and confident--a rare combination indeed! Most astrologers are too scared to crank out a strong interpretation because one placement might seem to contradict another, or there might be a placement that indicates a fondness for violence in someone that's an avowed pascifist...and so on. News flash: people are walking, talking contradictions! It's what makes us individuals! The authors of KEY WORDS know that only too well and, rather than hide from it, they revel in it. An excellent work for anyone who (a) enjoys astrology and (b) enjoys THINKING about astrology.

4-0 out of 5 stars Highly recommended!
This is a gem of a book as the previous reviewer stated from beginners to more advanced. The Key words ,ie; memorable descriptive imagery, is given as well as further information because in my opinion some will need further explanation.

ex; " Moon in Aries- (as a mother) The vigorous individual."

Well many might want to have a little more input as to what the author means be "vigorous", and so it is given. Also the keywords are not just for the rudimentary planet, signs & houses but the planets IN the houses and the planet energies combined in aspect. Also included are positive and negative manifestaions.

I especially like the endearing method of apect interpretation in the back of the book. There is a lot of knowledge condensed here for your money here from wise and learned practitioners. A very good resource.

3-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive but too wordy
I expected something concise, easy to use. Instead, the descriptions of the different astrological concepts, signs, etc. are similar to what you can find in more commonly available titles that also provide a more detailed background. In other words, with this book if you need something brief, you are presented with a host of sometimes completely unnecessary data; but if you want to know more you have to go to a different book. Instead, when I need a keyword reference, I want to see something like Diane Cramer's medical dictionary of astrology, Dictionary of Medical Astrology, concise and to the point.

5-0 out of 5 stars Wonderful thumbnail astrological analysis
This little book cuts to the astrological chase in a concise, clear, exciting style.Banzhaf is a German-language writer (in translation here) whose clipped-to-the-point descriptions of all the basic astrologicalpositions and combinations are steeped in a deep knowledge not only of thesubject at hand, but of Jungian psychology, classical mythology, numerology, and Tarot. While many authors who have written valuable bookson chart analysis carry on at great lengths to discuss each element of thehoroscope, Banzhaf is in every case clear, concise, illuminating, andalmost best of all, he supplies us with brief, pithy, mythology orpsychology-derived titles for nearly every combination here--titles such asMoon in Aries--the Amazon. While this may sound simplistic on the surface,Banzhaf's deep knowledge of mythology, tarot, and depth psychology make hislabels instantly clear and applicable--and separates him from many of thelight-weight pop-mythologists who have littered the literary landscape inpast years with their myth-lite treatises on Goddesses, etc.Astrology asa symbolic language is subject to positive and negative readings, andBanzhaf is careful to supply both the positive and negative polarities ofall situations. This is a mature, insightful, serious thinker and writer, and I wish more of his books were available in English.I'd recommend thisone without reservation for anyone interested in Astrology, beginnerthrough expert. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Theosophy of Graha, Rashi, and Nakshatra
Similar to Behari's "Planets in Signs and Houses" and "Fundamentals of Vedic Astrology", this semi-introductory Jyotisha text is a handy reference work for intermediate students of the vidya - with certain caveats.

Students of Jyotisha who are already educated in western astrology, and wanting to acquire proficiency in Jyotisha, may find Behari's descriptions too heavily laden with theosophical concepts, or simply too mystical. Even those who come to Jyotisha studies without western tradition background may find that Behari's theosophy overwhelms his astrology. Students unfamiliar with theosophical teachings may struggle to separate the classical Jyotisha information from his heavily embroidered cosmological context.

Having said that, the student will find value in owning one volume that fairly concisely explains the navagraha (nine planets), the twelve rashi (signs), and the twenty-seven nakshatra (lunar mansions). Since there is very little nakshatra literature available in English, Behari's nakshatra chapters, each a readable 2.5 pages, will be an important addition to the Jyotisha learner's library.

Other reference assets for learners include a detailed index (rare in Jyotisha books!) and glossary, as well as several large, appended tables. Overall, this volume is worth the purchase price. I used it to learn from, and now I teach from it. Recommended to intermediate-level students, who have already acquired basic Jyotisha terminology -- with the caution that Behari's theosophy and his astrology do need to be mentally separated, in order to make full use of the book. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars RIGHT TO THE TOP!
It has always been my practice to find out who the giants in a field are and to use them as my source when learning a subject.

Liz Greene is probably the most dynamic and competent astrologer practicing in the world today. There are many others, but I am always drawn to the no nonsense style of Liz Greene.

She draws on a vast knowledge of Astrology, and of psychology. I am convinced that no astrologer should be allowed to practice without being well versed in both. Astrology is a guidance tool. And, since it's your life that is being guided, the importance of pure and unbiased knowledge by your chosen astrologer is paramount to your smooth and effective development as an astrologically led traveller on your path through your lifetime.

Liz Greene offers that kind of expertise.

All of her treatises on the subject seem to bring you smack into a face to face awareness of exactly what your toolbox for life contains to help you be the best you can be.

In this book, you are allowed to "attend" some of the best seminars she has given but you get to do it from the comfort of your own home. What could be better? No crowds and walking, rubber chicken lunches, or moving from lecture to lecture -- you get to have this world class expert all to yourself! You can re-read anything you didn't understand the first time and not miss Miss Greene's profound wisdom.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not Accurate
I am an astrology student so I can't tell you if this book agrees with what other sources say. I can only tell you that when compared with what I know of myself and others, the information just isn't accurate. Since I can't trust the interpretations of the Nodes, I can't trust the rest of the information either.

1-0 out of 5 stars All About the Author
Very little of interest here.Every other sentence seems to start with "I had a client who".. Tiresome writing and nothing new, even if you can get through the terrible editing.

5-0 out of 5 stars To Node You is to Love You
This is my first Amazon review. I'm writing because I depend on user reviews when I make my purchases here. This book, Cosmic Love by Jan Spiller, is invaluable to me because of its synastry section. It continually allows me to help many awakened individuals explore their relationships at the soul level.

For instance, two of my friends were feeling a little hesitant or cautious about becoming closer in their relationship when they came to me. They didn't understand why they felt uneasy with eachother. Then I ran a synastry chart and discovered their Nodal/planetary conjunctions. I read to them the significance of where their North Nodes fell in eachother's houses and how their conjunctions revealed exactly what was going on at the subconscious level. Everything made sense to them and so they consciously began transmuting the energies. Much healing and self-awareness has taken place because of this book.

Personally, it helped me understand a particular 2-way soul contract of a soul-mate relationship in which I was involved. It reaffirmed what I was feeling, allowed me to see the bigger picture, and enabled me to communicate more efficiently to the other person about the karmic debt, so that we could bring the relationship to completion.

To quote from Jan Spiller, "The astrological connections between you and another will show what past life interactions were involved, the unfinished business that remains and the specific ways you can resolve any karma with this particular Soul." "If you truly desire to create a win-win resolution with the other person, Love will be the overriding energy." So I would highly recommend this book to astrologers or students of astrology who want to help themselves or others resolve conflicts in relationships.

Product Description
Erin Sullivan's latest book is a breakthrough bothin astrology and psychology. The Astrology of FamilyDynamics makes for gripping reading and shows us thatastrology is the only system that demonstrates the complexitiesof the family as an organic whole, the family's place in thecollective, and the role an individual plays in carrying on theancestral line. Sullivan writes with compassion and accuracy, weaving together various methods of analyzing and working withindividuals and their families. She discusses the cardinal, fixed, and mutable signs as they affect families, shows howelements work as a family dynamic, tracks core themes in familiesusing planetary positions and aspects, and explains the 4th, 8th,and 12th houses as our ancestral base. Appendices. Bibliography.Index.Amazon.com Review
Erin Sullivan does not write in the Linda Goodman style, offeringeasy-to-compute formulas or clichéd astrological typecasting. What she doesoffer in The Astrology of Family Dynamics is a discussion onhow each of us fits into the larger scheme of family, meaning humanity aswell as the nuclear family. This intriguing blend of psychology andastrology addresses the family as an organic whole, taking into account theplanetary positions that affect all members. Even without a tidy formula, each of us will certainly recognize our family in Sullivan's section on theelements, in which she characterizes families by Earth (reliability, practicality,self-reliance), Fire (spontaneity, gambling, competitiveness), Air(eccentricity, lots of space between family members, politeness), and Water(emotional, guilty, chaotic, humorous). Those who are students of astrologywill find this especially important reading. Dabblers who like theirastrology "lite" may find this a bit dense and theoretical. --Gail Hudson ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent. More than the title suggests
More high quality psychological astrology with profound depth and insight from Erin Sullivan. Here the emphasis is on how an individual might begin to explore his or her origins, and relationship to family and the collective. "Family" in this context is by no means restricted to an immediate nuclear family.

As with other books by Sullivan, there is insightful treatment of many features of the birth chart that has more general applications other than the specialized subject matter in the book.
There are sections on family systems, the purpose of a family, family trees, repeating astrological patterns in the charts of families, roles such as scapegoats and blacksheep. The chapter on water houses is excellent (speaking as someone with these strong in my own chart). Transits to individual and family charts are also covered.

Sullivan finishes with several case histories that make for fascinating reading. These include a story of autism and another case where a woman carries the whole of her ancestral line as she attempts to reconnect with her roots and ancestors. I found some of this a bit heavy going at times as there is so much depth and detail on many levels, but felt rewarded by the end.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing approach to my family tree
As an adopted child, I had always wondered how astrologically my adopted parents fit into my life or me into theirs. This book explains the relationships between familys, even when they aren't blood familys.I erected an astrological family tree for my biological family as well as my adopted family. It was so interesting to see how I played a role in both families and how we all worked together astrologically.
I recommend this book for anyone who has ever said to themselves "How did I ever survive my childhood with us all being so different?"

4-0 out of 5 stars Something New under the Family Tree
I love Erin Sullivan's new book because it begins by bringing a Norman Rockwell picture of the family to mind and asking you if you don't find this really horrifying, it is so different from your family! This is one of the points of this great new look at an age-old problem.Families today are as different as individuals. The astrology in this book does not look to shame or blame. The object is to see what is and see what could be if perspective could change.I like this positive approach because my family is far from a Rockwell idyll and frankly I'm tired of grousing around about it.Sullivan uses classic interpretation techniques but applies them to groups of charts that cluster on the branches of the family tree.Shealso has some innovative ways of interpreting family dynamics that I feel are interesting though not conclusive.I have had approximately the same amount of practical experience as Sullivan reading astrology charts (27 years in my case) and I do not feel her "conclusions" are conclusive! They are certainly worth further exploration, however.I would consider this a seminal work. So, why not grab your Family Tree, shake down some of the those branches and see what all you little monkeys were about in incarnating together over a long period of time.Sullivan is particularlygood with the Ancestors, by the way.I think you will enjoy her approach to genealogy and heritage and find it empowering.Give this good book a try.But advanced astrologers only.

5-0 out of 5 stars Outstanding Read
Erin Sullivan is one of the finest astrologers of our time. This particular book goes into the depths of discovering the "how's and why's" families are what they are. Without judgment, and with clear information that gives you the tools to examine your own family dynamics, from a astrological standpoint, it's for the intermediate to advanced level of astrology student, but would be an enjoyable read for anybody.I love this book, and refer to it often. ...
