Editorial Review

Product Description
This book is designed for human resources managers and directors of personnel who are concerned with labor productivity. It gives benchmarks and gap analyses used to gauge a company's performance vis-a-vis firms competing firms in the same sector, at the global level. In particular, this report covers NIPPON AVIONICS CO., LTD., MINATO-KU, Japan. With the globalization of markets, greater foreign competition, and the reduction of entry barriers, it becomes all the more important to benchmark a company's performance against other firms on a worldwide basis.Doing so, however, is not an obvious task.First, one needs to find firms competing in the same sector.Second, one needs to control for exchange rate volatility. Finally, one needs to use comparable financial standards. This report overcomes these issues and gives full human resources benchmarks vis-a-vis worldwide competitors who are present in the same narrow industrial classification. Benchmarks cover labor-asset ratios, labor-liability ratios, and labor-income ratios.Since our reports are printed on demand, the statistics reported are for the latest quarter and are the most up to date available (4 updates are produced each year). Each report provides over 100 statistics and 40 graphs to the reader. ... Read more

Product Description

Many individual technological solutions for microwave applications in industries have been developed without a clear pattern for a key strategy to replace conventional industrial technologies. In this work, the author shows how a modular microwave system line for very homogenous microwave fields is originated. "Energy Efficient Microwave Technologies" is designed for engineers and scientists from industry and academic research. The number of applications of this new technology is enormous: In this book, applications in the avionic field are shown as well as new methods in microwave materials processing for composite materials including new quantum aspects on microwave heating.

1-0 out of 5 stars A bad reference book!
This book is in reference style. It aims at cover the "wide and fascinating field of radar techniques and systems". However, while it does cover a wide field of topics, its quality is not delivered.I read afew chapters and come to this conclusion. There are too many typos andunclear terms which may confuse a reader--at least I had a difficulty tosort it out, and I am an experienced radar engineer. For example, one day Ipicked up the book when it happened to be handy, and read a few pages ofits chapter 3 (CFAR). From pages 185 to 187, the problems I noted are asfollows: (1) Typos:(a) "P(z)" in Eq. 3.6 should be"p(z)". (b) "-pi/4z" in Eq.3.6 should be"-(pi/4)z". (2) Confusions: (a) Figure 3.1 to 3.3: the upperline from the "delay" box seems to me should be placed at before the box. (b) The term "E(.)" in most books meansthe mean of a random number, here it means variance. (c) The term"b" in Eq. 3.15 is never defined. (d) The term "c" inEq. 3.19 is never defined. I expect so many problems may exist in a manuscript, but definitely not in a reference style book. Similar problemsexist in some other chapters. This is a huge book by several profs. I guesssome chapter might be better.

Editorial Review

Product Description
Radar is a legal necessity for the safe navigation of merchant ships and, within vessel traffic services, is indispensable to the operation of major ports and harbors. Target Detection by Marine Radar concentrates solely on civil marine operations and explains how civil surveillance radars detect their targets. There are numerous diagrams and worked examples to help the reader understand the principles underlying radar operation and to quantify the importance of factors such as technical features of specific equipment, the weather, and the ability of the operator. The accuracy with which targets are positioned on the radar screen and with which their progress is tracked or predicted depends on how definitely they have been detected, and so a whole chapter has been devoted to the issue of accuracy. The various international regulations governing marine radar are examined, a brief historical background is given to modern day practice and the book closes with a discussion of ways in which marine radar may develop to meet future challenges.

Editorial Review

Product Description
Sea Clutter: Scattering, the K-Distribution and Radar Performance gives an authoritative account of our current understanding of radar sea clutter. The authors pay particular attention to the compound K distribution model, which they have developed over the past 20 years. Evidence supporting this model, including a detailed review of the calculation of EM scattering by the sea surface, its statistical formulation, and practical application to the specification, design and evaluation of radar systems are all discussed. The calculation of the performance of practical radar systems is presented in sufficient detail for the reader to be able to tackle related problems with confidence.

This book should be invaluable to specialist radar engineers and academic researchers, and of considerable interest to the wider applied physics and mathematics communities.

3-0 out of 5 stars Good material for AIR TRANSPORT Aircraft
This book does a GREAT job explaining MANY of the sytems found in Air Transport Category aircraft. It also does a very good job explaining the basic theory involved in many avionic systems, such as synchros, resolversand flux valves. If the book were updated to cover some of the neweravionic systems, it would be the PERFECT book for an Avionics Fundamentalsclass!

However, despite the picture of an Electronic Instrument System(EFIS) instrument panel on the cover, it has almost NO information aboutEFIS. It could also use MORE coverage about, ARINC 429 (the standard fordigital busses on most aircraft) newer strapdown intertial systems (such asAHRS and IRS) as well as Flight Management Systems, and the newerintegrated autoflight systems. The book does not have any coverage ofCOMMUNICATION systems (VHF Comm, HF Comm, ACARS and SATCOM) nor does itcover some of the newer navigation systems (such as GPS/GNS/GLONASS,Microwave Landing Systems and Windshear Detection systems). They can alsoELIMINATE data on the Omega Navigation System, as it was deactivated in1997.

Again, this is a GREAT book for the material that it does cover, but it would be an even better book if it were updated!
