Concise
This book is a concise recording of the details of the life of Queen Victoria.I also bought a much larger bio, thinking I could read the smaller one first, then dig into the larger volume.Wrong!I am reading the larger one first, because it puts into perspective who all the "characters" are in this concise version.It is still a very good book.I'm just not a very good history student.

A Longer Version of the Countess Longford Bio ofVictoria Exists
Actually, I probably shouldn't review this book as I am more familiar with the approximately 600 page biography of Queen Victoria that the Countess of Longford published in 1965.It is excellent.I only mention this as one reviewer was disappointed by the length of this version.Those seeking a far more in-depth account by the same author should search for QUEEN VICTORIA-BORN TO SUCCEED.

Nice Read and Good Information
I enjoyed reading this book.It gave a good overview of Queen Victoria's life.The information was complete and pertinent.

I also found it to be a very quick read.

Overall, well-balanced and a worthwhile read
As a Diana-partisan, I was prepared to dislike this book because it was written by an author who is a friend of Prince Charles. To my delight, I found the book to be an interesting, even-handed account of the very humanfoibles of two people and not a biased excuse for Prince Charles. (Well,not quite--Benson did try that tired excuse that Diana tricked the naiveCharles into marriage, but he made only the weakest attempt at it.) Forthat reason and for the interesting insight this book contains, I recommendit. The only reason why I didn't give the book a higher rating is the fewminor factual errors that should have been caught by a good proof-readerknowledgeable in the history of the British Royal family. ... Ian Lloyd has succeeded in producing a book of highly enjoyable, and well taken photos, but he should have put as much time into fact checking as he did picking out pics.I'd say buy the book, but just look at the pictures. Don't bother reading the mistake riddled text. ... Read more
