3-0 out of 5 stars Quite nice. Great massage section.
I found this book at a wharehouse club in my area and picked it up on a whim after leafing through a few pages. It turned out to be quite a gem.

The beginning section on aromatherapy is by no means allencompassing, but it's a great starting point for the beginner. The sectionon massage is the absolute BEST. It covers all sections of the body andillustrates Japanese Shiatsu and reflexology as well as the moretraditional european method. The yoga section covers a wide range ofpostures, and even has a nice little 10 week program for the reader tofollow, by the end of which one will have the full repertoire of poses inhis/her arsenal.

The entire book consists of color photos, and eachpicture is accompanied by a caption that won't leave you guessing. Thisbook does not offer an in depth study of any of the therapies within, butit is a worthy additon to the library of someone learning about or deeplyinvolved in alternative therapies.

Just a side note: I found it for lessthan the price advertised so keep your eyes peeled for a bargain. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Its ok
I was expecting more, new information on LMT biomechanics. While the book is well laid out, presents itself with colorful and attractive photos and diagrams, it didn't provide me with any new information. Just more of the same antiquated info taught in massage school. Disappointing.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent Reference Book!
I have really enjoyed this book because it not only offers helpful information on body mechanics, it also has interactive exercises that help you self correct bad habits! I am currently working as an LMT, and have had body mechanics training, but I still found this useful for reference and touching up my routine!

5-0 out of 5 stars A new approach
I just heard this author speak at a teacher's conference. The material presented was excellent, and reflected the fresh and new approach of this book. I am so pleased that finally there is a book that treats the subject of body mechanics in a functional and practical way. This book is exactly what our profession has been waiting for. Buy it and enjoy!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Best
If you are a massage student, therapist, or teacher of massage therapy, you should buy this book. It's the best book written on body mechanics. It provides all the information needed to sustain a healthy massage career. The burn-out rate for massage therapists is too short; this book will help to eliminate it.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Gem
I've been teaching massage for over 15 years, and in all that time I've never come across such a wonderful book on body mechanics. This book is a gem. As a teacher I find its content up-to-date and concise. The photos are clear, the exercises are brilliant, and the tips for students are an extra bonus. My students have learned an incredible amount from this book, and I see it in their work with each other. I wouldn't be without this book in the classroom, and my students will be so thankful for it after they graduate. ... Read more

Product Description
Increased stress and traumatic events in our lives have resulted in many millions of people who suffer from insomnia, nightmares, anxiety attacks, depression, and tension headaches.ACUPRESSURE FOR EMOTIONAL HEALING offers relief at your fingertips, quickly and safely, for a wide range of emotional problems. It explains how emotional distress becomes lodged in the body as muscular tension and blocked energy, and shows how acupressure can relieve not just the resulting physical symptoms, but also their emotional source--often without the need for extensive talk therapy or medication.

Acupressure stimulates the same points used in acupuncture, but instead of needles, firm finger pressure is used on the surface of the skin. The pressure releases neurochemicals called endorphins that relieve pain.As in acupuncture, specific pressure points are connected with internal organs and energy pathways in the body (called meridians) that regulate the flow of electrical energy to all systems.Unlike acupuncture, acupressure can be used safely by anyone, with only the hands as equipment.

ACUPRESSURE FOR EMOTIONAL HEALING offers a comprehensive A-Z guide to emotional ailments (from abandonment to worry and obsessive thinking), with fully-illustrated instruction on dozens of precise acupressure point locations and how to activate them, combined with yogic breathing, stretching, and movement routines.Case histories from the authors' practice further illuminate each condition and the path to emotional balance and healing. Most routines can be used independently for self-care and on-the-spot relief. There are also sections on how to use the techniques to helpothers, with appropriate safeguards. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Very clear illustrations, both line drawings and photographs
This book is well thought-out and easy to use. It describes the points very well in the text and has excellent visuals; for each point or set of points, there is a line drawing that shows the point in relation to both bone and muscle, and a photograph with a dot over the point on a person's clothing. A book like this is only useful if you can find the acupressure points, and this is the best system I've seen. When the same points are recommended for different conditions, the descriptions and illustrations are also repeated. There's no flipping back and forth in the book to find the points you need, as each routine stands alone.

5-0 out of 5 stars Should be printed in solid Gold
If I had the money, I would buy this book for every man, woman and child in the world....and it would be worth every penny. As someone who has tried many things to alleviate emotional and physical suffering, I found so many answers when I started to use this book.
Another reviewer said that life just got better and better...and I agree. We all have complex things that happen to us in the course of a lifetime; here is a way to finally let go and move forward.
Bravo to the authors.

5-0 out of 5 stars Amazing book
This is a beautiful book. The information here is priceless, and it presents a wonderful way to assist in any self healing you may want to do.I have lent this book to friends going through different sorts of stresses and traumas.I think this is a great book to have in your home.

5-0 out of 5 stars Acupressure for Emotional Healing
The great thing about this book is that you can use it by yourself. It is designed to be used for self-help. However, it is also a must for a healer's library. The sections are divided by the type of emotional problem, then all the pressure points on the body are shown, and detailed instructions are provided to help the individual or healer work on that emotional problem.

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Useful Guide
I will get my license in Clinical Massage Therapy next year. I will incorporate this guide into my practice. This book deals with help for a very wide range of negative and defeating emotions. I am learning, unreleased negative energy is often a very real contributor to chronic conditions, pain, tightness and stress. ... Read more

Product Description
Acupoint massage is a health maintenance method developed by the Chinese and Chinese medical doctors in their centuries-long struggle against disease. It is based upon the traditional theories of qi, blood, visceral organs, meridians and collaterals, and is characterized by pressing and rubbing on meridians, acupoints, muscles and skin areas with different parts of the palms and fingers and varying degrees of force. It includes pushing and stroking the meridians, digital and palmar pressing on the acupoints, kneading and grasping the muscles, and rubbing the skin. Acupoint massage is so called because the massage is chiefly applied to acupuncture points and meridians.

This well-illustrated massage book provides quick cures and permanent and temporary relief for more than fifty common ailments, including headaches, bronchial asthma, hypertension, diabetes mellitus, constipation, impotence, menstrual disorders, menopausal syndrome, infantile indigestion, stiff necks, acute lumbar sprain, and leg cramps. 5-0 out of 5 stars This Book is a MUST have
As I was starting to learn Aromatherapy my High Priestess lent me her book to start out with. I fell in love with this book "The Magick of Aromatherapy: " that I kept turning to her for the book for information I couldn't find in any other books I acquired.. I have 7 in all.. This is a MUST have for any serious student of Aromatherapy ~ Serenity ~

4-0 out of 5 stars Almost perfect!
I had to give this book 4 out of 5 stars simply because it didn't have some oils listed in it that I thought should have been, and had some that I didn't think should have been (i.e, did not have tangerine or lemongrassand a couple other popular ones I can't recall offhand, but did liststrawberry, apple, civet and ambergris which are usuallyartificial/synthetics which I don't use.)

But, aside from that, it hasmany recipes and blends for both magickal and theraputic uses as well asquite a few good correspondence tables in the back that always come inhandy! There are sections for prosperity and success, health, love andlust, general recipes, and more that escapes me at the moment. Since I gotthis book a few weeks ago it has been one of my main references along withCunningham's Magical Aromatherapy and compliments my theraputic (read:non-magickal) aromatherapy books nicely. The first half of the book ismagickal and general application information about oils and thier uses, andhas summaries of all the oils used in the book one by one. The second halfis blends, recipes and correspondences. The writing style is great, it'seasy to read and put to use immediately. I especially liked the print type- done in a dark forest green on off-white recycled paper, very easy on theeyes and you feel as if you are reading a hand written book or someone'snotes.

Overall, I think the Magick of Aromatherapy is a valuableaddition to anyone interested in the magickal applications of aromatherapyandessential oils but wants some medicinal and theraputic info as well;it hits the mark on both. Even for those who may have books of this typealready and some on "regular" aromatherapy (like I do) will findvalue in it as the recipes/blends are different and more varied than most Ihave run across; a rather eclectic mix. It's also a good book for someonewho doesn't already have a book or two of this type and would make a greatgift for someone just starting out in magick or whose interests lean thatway and they are interested in aromatherapy, just add acouple ofinexpensive essential oils, a nice bow and voila'! ... Product Description
An estimated 30 million Americans experience low back pain at any given time. Many seek relief through surgery, medication, and physical therapy. But self-help has a great appeal for those who'd like to learn to relieve pain at home without costly professional treatment. Now, couples, partners, and family members can follow safe, effective, hands-on techniques to help each other relieve back, neck, and musculoskeletal pain. Dr. Andrew Kirschner uses a clear, descriptive style and detailed photographs to demonstrate more than 30 easily accomplished techniques. He also discusses the psychological aspects of chronic pain, and how that affects the dynamics within the relationship and the family. Kirschner has found that "the skilled touch of a loved one can have a more positive, lasting effect on one's well being than any technique applied by a physician or therapist," and offers plenty of anecdotal proof in this exciting new book. More than 60 terrific how-to photographs (taken at the beach rather than in a studio, for a more accessible and upbeat approach) give a concise picture of how simple these techniques can be. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars REQUIRED READING !!
Save Your Hands! now has a totally new 2nd Edition that's been greatly expanded and updated. The first edition helped me a lot as a massage therapist, but the 2nd Edition is even better. It's twice as long and has much more information on less-stressful techniques, body mechanics and ergonomics. It's also now very professionally laid-out and illustrated.I really recommend it, even if you already have the 1st edition, because the 2nd edition is like a totally new book.Save Your Hands!: The Complete Guide to Injury Prevention and Ergonomics for Manual Therapists

4-0 out of 5 stars Wish I had this guide in massage school
As an ambitious new massage therapist I started a bit too aggressively without thinking how proper ergonomics would affect my long term career goals. My neck, shoulders and hands were hurting after only 6 months of opening my practice. Now I follow the ergonomics and exercise advice in this book and am 100% pain free. This book not only helped me understand the mechanism of pain conditions, but how I could help myself...and my clients! This book should be required reading in massage school.
