STAR Augmentation Results The STAR augmentation refers to the addition of test items to the Standardized Testing and Reporting (STAR) program. This created a new test that more closely addresses the content standards adopted by the State Board of Education. Student answers to these additional items were combined with their answers to a selection of questions from the Stanford Achievement Test, Ninth Edition, Form T (Stanford 9). These combined scores will reflect California's content standards. Academic Performance Index In January 2000, public schools throughout California received their first Academic Performance Index (API) reports. The API measures the academic performance and progress of schools. Annual growth targets for future academic improvement are determined for schools based on the API. Schools that reach their annual targets will be rewarded. School that do not meet their targets will be eligible for interventions or subject to sanctions and challenges.
