3-0 out of 5 stars This book is a big help
With this book, measureUp exams and MSDN just took me one weeks to prepare WOSA II and I passed with more than 800. I used the same formula for WOSA I and I also passed whit 811. It's true that the book have some errors, butthose help me to test my achievemets while i Was studying.

3-0 out of 5 stars Sufficient to pass the exam
I just passed the exam using only this book and Transcender. Probably due to the fact that the book was written by two authors, the structure is quite inconsistent with repeating information and information about asingle subject being spread out over several chapters (this is especiallytrue for BackOffice). When looking back at the exam, I find the book weakon user-interface and logo compliance issues, but complete in most otherareas.

3-0 out of 5 stars Use with Transcenders and some MSDN and you'll pass
Well, this book is not as good as Win Arch I in that it leaves out a lot of content that appears in the exam. I particularly found weak areas to include MAPI, TAPI, Code Signing and User Interface issues. However, someareas are very well covered including Internet, Internationalization (wow -long word!), and logo compliance (boring subject!). The questions in thebook are very easy, but are accurate at least, which is more than I can sayabout the first book. To pass the exam, I would recommend reading this bookcover to cover, reviewing the first book, take the Transcenders and brushup on any weak areas through additional information from the MSDN library.

5-0 out of 5 stars This book really IS all you need for 70-161
I used the Ezzell book and the Transcender test for the 70-160 test. Scored over 900...enough said. However, due to a LOT of factors I didn't have as much time to study for this one. PLUS My transcender disk wascorrupt. With three days to go til the exam, I didn't have a chance to getthe new Transcender disk, so the book was ALL that I had. I still scoredover 850 with just the book. Enough said!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book to use for the WinArchII exam!
I passed the WinArchII exam the first time with a 849 using this book and Transcender(very important)!

Excellent resource, but needs to be a little more focused on theWinArchII content.I felt thatthis one didn't matchup as well as the WinArchI did against the actual exam, but it was still anexcellent guide.

I wish people would stop being unrealistic in theirexpectations. You WILL NOT find EVERYTHING you need to pass a MicrosoftArchitecture exam in ANY single resource!Get over it people. That's theway the tests were designed. It is going to stay that way.I found thisto be an excellent guide and I think it unfair to stomp it just because itdoesn't do the impossible. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great book about organization
This book says it's about feng shui, and it is, and of all the feng shui books I've read it's easily the clearest, most intuitive and most understandable. But the real power of the book, for me, has been in helping me to understand and implement organization.By examining space using principles of feng shui, I can ask questions about each object and its purpose and evaluate it in the context of my life. This allows me to get a snapshot, if you will, of my unconscious mind, and to make it congruent with my conscious goals and values. So it's not so much the moving of stuff that changed my life, but the investigation into my stuff, into my objects, that provided me with a mechanism for evaluating who I am and what elements could be added or subtracted from my space and from my Self.I do wish the book had an index, but I've been working with this text for ten years and it continues to be a valuable resource.Well done, KRC.

1-0 out of 5 stars Horrible! Not real feng shui at all!
Carter claims that "proper feng shui is purposefully arranging the stuff around you to gain positive results." That right there tells anyone who knows anything about feng shui what garbage this book is.I picked up this up because of all of the reviews and I was appalled at how bad it was!Yes this book is easy to read. It's really small and simple. It lets you know that all you have to do to improve your life is put a color here and move a chair there and a money tree there and wallah!- You become a great success and meet the love of your life..Ah yes wouldn't that just be grand if it were true?No wonder so many love this book; Wishful thinking!

But here's why it's such a quick read and takes zero time or effort to implement- Because it's not actually feng shui.Real Feng Shui is a little more complicated than that.It requires some time to figure out certain equations and books that teach you genuine feng shui as has been done in the east for centuries show you how to do at least some of these equations for you to implement the art to your home with adequate results.People love this book because it requires no time and no figuring out of anyting- Just buy certain things and move them around- so it offers no results either. In fact one can actually end up making things worse as far as real feng shui is concerned.Just to give you an idea- this book as well as the author's other book entitled "clear your clutter" were voted among the worst feng shui books on the market by writers and practioners of traditional feng shui. This woman either doesn't know what she's doing or she's banking on the fact that westerners don't want to put in the time for real feng shui so she's instead written a couple of books on neatness and design and decided to call that "feng shui" to make money. This book may motivate you to organize yourself and add certain colors and things that you otherwise wouldn't & that's great, but I guarantee you that with this book you won't be practicing feng shui. For the real deal try books like The complete idiots guide to feng shui or Chinese Whispers. They've got more content and therefore aren't as quick to read and apply, but even if you don't have the time to study those books I feel its better to read & apply a tiny portion of real feng shui in your home than it is to read entire books of crap that's deceptively marketed as feng shui.

5-0 out of 5 stars move your stuff change your life
excellent book ...bought it used but it looked newer than any of the other books I have on hand....i'll order the express shipping next time. thanks for the book.

4-0 out of 5 stars The best Feng Shui book ever (R-rated though)
This is the most readable, entertaining Feng Shui book I have found. Most of them read like encyclopedias but this one is enjoyable to read, and contains good information for the novice Feng Shui student.I did find some of the author's humor a bit tasteless, however.Keep the book away from your kids.

1-0 out of 5 stars Watch out...! There are better books for beginners....
This is a friendly, fun book to read, but it is not going to help you change your life *positively* with feng shui, and it could lead to disastrous results. Some of Carter's advice makes no sense whatsoever, which I found out as I learned more about the elements and energy circulation.

Sometimes I say that "I made every feng shui mistake in the book" - well, this is the book of mistakes.

If you're interested in Western feng shui and maybe just starting out, I recommend Terah Kathryn Collins' feng shui books or Jayme Barrett's Feng Shui Your Life. They contain good, solid, useful advice to get you started.

Use policies to build self-managing IT systems that save money, improve availability, and enhance agility

IT policies can be used to guide and automate decision making in the management of computer and network infrastructure, helping IT organizations reduce costs, improve service quality, and enhance business agility. Now, a team of top IBM researchers introduces the latest innovations in policies and autonomic computing and demonstrates how to put them to work in your organization.

The authors cover the entire policy lifecycle: planning, definition, representation in standard policy languages, validation, distribution, enforcement, and more. They identify proven patterns for designing policy-enabled self-managing systems and show how policies can be integrated into a complete framework for system self management. They carefully introduce key technologies such as rules engines and the IBM Policy Management framework, as well as emerging standards such as the DMTF’s Common Information Model. Finally, they offer start-to-finish case studies of policy management in areas ranging from storage and IP networking to security.

4-0 out of 5 stars If you won't do it...Who will?
Applause to this little book for giving support to "creatives" bold enough to take the first important steps to self-promote! But being bold is not enough. Effective self-promotion takes planning - lots of planning that includes establishing realistic goals, targeting your audience, and then figuring out how your service or product relates to that audience. Then it takes being "bold," and having the guts to put your plan to work! Clark's book provides the self-confidence many talented people need to get onto the right track. Bottom line is that if we want people to value our creative skills - or invest time or money in our projects - they have to know who we are, what we have accomplished and why they should care! Having talent just isn't enough. (Reviewed by: Marion E. Gold, author of "Personal Publicity Planner: A Guide to Marketing YOU."

5-0 out of 5 stars A must have for anyone who wants to stand out from the crowd
This is quite possibly one of the best self-promotion guides available. As a college senior getting ready to enter the job market, this book has been like a bible to me. It's no longer enough to have the skills employers are looking for, you have to be able to make a strong impression right from the start and this book will show you how to do it. Get Noticed is full of excellent ideas for creative, unique résumés, thank you cards, and notices. Truly an invaluable resource.

5-0 out of 5 stars Self Promotion Advice by a Super Pro
Sheree Clark understands the importance of getting noticed! She is an inspiration to designers and other creatives who need to jump-start their marketing efforts. This book shows that self promotion is not only smart business, it's fun... look at the many ways she shows you to create a buzz. I recommend this book to new and old practitioners, students and anyone who enjoys seeing playful, client-making design.

5-0 out of 5 stars Get Noticed - A GREAT resource book!
As a high school computer graphics teacher, I found this book to be a wonderful addition to our resource library. My students were able to read about a variety of graphic designers and saw great examples of their work. The information from the designers helped my students understand the design process and concept of promoting your work. We contacted some of the designers to get answers to career research questions related to the graphic arts field. Some students also interviewed some of the designers in the book. I would recommend this book to anyone who is teaching in this field or planning to become a graphic designer. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent read about the reality of IT consulting
IT consulting is really _not_ for everyone who thinks s/he can do it, and this book tells you why, by painting a realistic picture of it. It tells you about everything a person wanting to be an independent/startup IT consultant can expect. For when it was written it clearly seems ahead of its time.

Be aware that the author is based in the UK, and the tax related and some other advice given is more relevant to those in the UK. This is a minor point, however.

I did some quick calculations per the author's recommendations:

    Assumed inputs:
    * Desired annual income (before overtime) = $100k
    * Time spent per week on updating skills, administrative tasks and marketing = 1d + 0.5d + 0.5d = 2d

    Calculated outputs:
    * Time available per week (before o.t.) for actual work = 5d - 2d = 3d
    * Desired rate per hour to make desired annual income (pre o.t.) = $48.08 (per CalcXML) * (5d/3d) = $80.13 = $80 after rounding

Of course in real life it's the market that determines one's wages. ... Read more

FOREWORD for Linda G. Shelnutt's WINDOWS WALKABOUT

When my colleague Linda G. Shelnutt first told me of this project, I snorted: “Snobs and old hippies trying to keep groovyness alive with uneven floors, uncomfortable chairs that rock when you don’t want them to, terrible guitar music on the sound system and ragweed radish salad for $67.00.”

    I was soooo wrong.

This is not just the story of hard working people who restored joy to decaying mansions once proud and warm with family life….nor is it simply a list of suggested places to stay for a weekend or a week’s getaway.

    No….

This absorbing piece is a balm for the weary soul… thirteen ways to ESCAPE… to relax… to rejuvenate and heal. You’ll meet nice middle class people who had a dream and are making it come true. You’ll be relaxing with spectacular views and furniture you can sink into while they happily work to make your escape fantasies come true.

Linda Shelnutt’s mastery of facts and figures shines through here as well… maybe giving YOU an idea for a second career with your life’s partner…

While you escape and relax in ultra max comfort, you can ponder who you’ve become… who maybe you can be….

Linda’s graphic imagery will sooth your spirit and relax muscles grown tense with worry… allowing you to do all this and more in the comfort of your own home.

There is simply too much here you don’t want to miss… So get ready to read with lightened heart and open mind… these stories will shortly start you dreaming…

…and where there are dreams there are dreams come true…. ENJOY!!!

I am a person who loves cozy situations. Therefore, I really enjoyed reading about these comfortable and cozy Bed & Breakfasts. This book is a collection of stories about Bed & Breakfasts.Linda Shelnutt (the author) interviewed the owners, stayed at the B&Bs, and wrote this lovely account.Lucky Linda awesomely indulged in the coziness and comfort of beautiful Bed & Breakfasts. These B&Bs are lovely, dainty, warm, inviting, welcoming, and accomodating.

Not only does this book describes the comfort, elegance, and warm welcoming of Bed & Breakfasts, it also tells about how the owners came to purchase, reinovate, and operate the B&Bs.It talks not only about the comfortable, fluffy side of B&Bs, but also about the business side of it, which I will not get into.(You will have to read the book for that.)

These B&Bs are all in Denver and Colorado Springs.I could relate to it, because I just came back from a little vacation in Denver and Colorado Springs back in May.The locations (Denver & Colorado Springs) made me enjoy the book even more.In fact, when I was reading about Room at the Inn, I got goosebumps when it was talking about Colorado Springs having caves, cliff dwellings, waterfalls, Pike's Peak. When I was in Colorado Springs last May, that's what I really loved about it - the "old, western" look and feel.(I love reading western novels, and Colorado Springs made me feel as if I were in one.)

I also enjoyed reading about Cheyenne Canon Inn, with the rooms with themes of certain countries. But I'm not going to tell you about all the B&Bs.

This is a wonderful, enjoyable, and lovely book about B&Bs, from the business end to the owning and operating, to the actual way they treat and welcome their guests.I want to go to a B&B right now!!!

I really enjoyed the subject matter of "Windows Walkabout".(Bed & Breakfasts)But, subject matter aside, I like the author's writing. And one thing that I really like is her use of alliteration. She uses it a lot, and I really love it; it adds a gentle rhythm and flow to the reading.

5-0 out of 5 stars As warm and relaxing as a bubble bath in an antique claw-footed tub!
Some books are a joy to reread, and I found "Windows Walkabout" to be of this variety, almost like returning to visit a favorite vacation destination where you have fond memories of what the previous trip was like.

Years ago, the author had decided that visiting a dozen or so of the Colorado Bed and Breakfast establishments in her vicinity and doing an in-depth article on each B&B would make for an interesting read for those who are looking for new B&B's to experience and for those who are contemplating buying up an older large house, doing extensive renovations, and opening their own Bed and Breakfast. Now, I must confess that prior to reading this book I didn't think that I had a foot in either camp, however once I understood exactly what a Bed and Breakfast was I realized that I'd stayed at one in Canada without understanding what it was called.I thought it was some kind of a home-like hotel that gave you breakfast and you were on your own for lunch and dinner.Since I was in another country, I just chalked it up to the Canadian way of running their hotels without knowing that it was an entirely seperate classification of establishment. It's kind of neat to learn something new like this in mid-life!

Linda's minute descriptions of each room in the old Victorian mansions that most commonly are renovated in her area of Colorado to become Bed and Breakfasts, plus her vivid memories of the breakfasts she was served at each Inn has no doubt significantly contributed to the arrival of new guests at each of the Inns, there solely due to what Linda wrote of what it was like to be a guest at this particular Inn.And, Linda's done a genuine service to those who think they might like to open their own B&B for paying guests. She's refused to sugar-coat the difficulties and expenses involved and has laid out a graphic account of what a typical day is like for those who run such establishments. In short, starting and running such an Inn is not for someone who is looking for a retirement rocking the days away on the front porch --- that privilege is reserved for the guests who enjoy relaxing in an atmosphere of peace and quiet and relish the escape from the scurrying to answer the phone, fax, and email!Oh, by the way, the Bed and Breakfast I stayed at in Canada was simply superb and I'd love to return for another few nights - it was restful, relaxing, and cozy (much like this book!).

Linda's provides the reader with added reflections at the end of the book about her life in Colorado and about her husband's work in a coal mine. My idea of what it must be like to work in a coal mine was changed radically by Tom's account of his life in the mines....long narrow corridors that stretch on and on and on and machines going by regularly unless they're broken down and pushed off to the side in sections where the corridor is widened, the reader understands that this has simply got to be some of the hardest and most challenging work in modern America. It makes you understand Colorado better, knowing that the mines have played a major role in the state's history for around a hundred and fifty years, and that the reality of the mines and the work there and the workers of 2009 who go into the mines each day while leaving spouses and children at home waiting for their return that, as it has been for so many countless generations, farm work, forestry, and mining have all been labor that goes back to the dawn of history, and continues today.

Five stars for this extremely thoughtful, well-written, and interesting book that's well worth your investment of time and money!

5-0 out of 5 stars A BALM FOR THE WEARY SOUL
When my colleague Linda G. Shelnutt first told me of this project, I snorted : "snobs and old hippies trying to keep groovyness alive with uneven floors, uncomfortable chairs that rock when you don't want them to, terrible guitar music on the sound system and ragweed radish salad for $67.00."

    I was soooo wrong.

This is not just the story of hard working people who restored joy to decaying mansions once proud and warm with family life....nor is it simply a list of suggested places to stay for a weekend or a week's getaway.

    No....

This absorbing piece is a balm for the weary soul...thirteen ways to ESCAPE... to relax...to rejuvenate and heal. You'll meet nice middle class people who had a dream and are making it come true. You'll be relaxing with spectacular views and furniture you can sink into while they happily work to make your escape fantasies come true.

Linda Shelnutt's mastery of facts and figures shines through here as well... maybe giving YOU an idea for a second career with your life's partner...

While you escape and relax in ultra max comfort, you can ponder who you've become...who maybe you can be....

Linda's graphic imagery will sooth your spirit and relax muscles grown tense with worry...allowing you to do all this and more in the comfort of your own home.

There is simply too much here you don't want to miss...So get ready to read with lightened heart and open mind... these stories will shortly start you dreaming...

...and where there are dreams there are dreams come true....ENJOY!!!

5-0 out of 5 stars PLEASANT SURPRISE
I didn't think I was going to find this interesting, since fancy inns aren't my thing. But I was wrong, because the story has lots of features anyone could find enjoyable.

For myself it was the renovcation of all those old houses, taking advantage of the kind of quality workmanship you don't see anymore and turning these old buildings into something attractive and useful again.

Also I liked the close-up and personal look at people doing what they want in life.these people are retirees, I am a first-timer, but I enjoyed reading about people with the guts to do something they think will be interesting instead of just chasing the dollar until it's time to die.

In a laid back sort of way, it was almost an ADVENTURE STORY too...the way the author goes from one to the other, noting the enjoyable stuff to be found at each of the inns.

So don't judge the book by its title. There is a lot of good stuff in here.I often have dreams of doing something with my life besides be in harness to The Man.There is an interesting section on small business planning as well which I think will be helpful to me NO MATTER WHAT sort of business I eventually go for ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Fair priced book... Good reference point..
Neeed this book as a reference point to help out with older networks.. Good info..

4-0 out of 5 stars Good enough to pass the exam 70-81
Without any earlier experience with Exchange Server or any earlier exchange exams, I used this book to study for the exam and passed it. Maybe not the best study guide available for the test but gives you enoughinformation to pass the test.

1-0 out of 5 stars Confusing, repetative and badly laid out
I did not go beyond the first two chapters, mainly because of the 'paradoxical' answers to some of the questions, which I couldn't make heads or tails of, nor did a couple of the Exchange administrators here at work. The rest of the book may have been different, but I believed I was wastingmy time reading any further.

1-0 out of 5 stars Not impressed
I found the layout of the book difficult to follow. The "Test Day Fast Facts" were a handy summary, but the sample questions were poorly worded, confusing, and in way to many cases, totally inaccurate.

3-0 out of 5 stars Exam Cram or not?
This book can't decide if it's a pure exam cram book or if it wants toteach you about Exchange proper. It does focus on the exam well and got methrough the 5.5 exam (but I'd already done the 4 exam and have been workingwith Exchange for about 2 years).I think any newcomers to exchange wouldfind this a messy book - I didn't like it's style. However, there's not alot of choice for a 5.5 exam cram at the moment, so I suppose it's best ofa bad bunch. ...
