5-0 out of 5 stars BANNER IN THE SKY
I thought this book was very intresting . It is about a boy , Rudi Matt , who has a dream to climb the Citadel. He wanted to acomplish it after his father's death trying to reach the top of it 15 years earlier . He went ona trek to climb it with 3 other people . Their names were Captain Winter ,Amil Saxo , and Rudi's uncle Franz . Rudi did not reach the top because hewent on to help Saxo , who had fallen 20 feet , because he lost his balancetrying to push Rudi away from him . Rudi's dream was not accomplished forhim but it was for his father Joseph Matt . He had the same dream as Rudi .Joseph Matt did not reach his dream himself either , because as I saidbefore he died trying . His dream did come true , though .Captain Winterand Franz reached the summit and accomplished Rudi and Joseph Matt's dreamfor them .I thought this book was very wonderful and it taught meabout how I can reach a dream . ... Product Description
The life of a great musician is always interesting, but the story of Hazel Harrison is exceptional. Her achievement was particularly impressive because she had been schooled entirely at home and was the first black pianist, male or female, to perform with a major European orchestra. Harrison's extraordinarily long and impressive performing career spanned more than half a century, from the days when Brahms was still alive and Stravinsky had not yet composed The Rite of Spring to the time of the civil rights struggle in the deep South. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars Great!
Well, I read this book cover to cover. It's a definite must read for the serious musician who wants to learn about the music business and how it works. The music business is pretty confusing but this book is written in a way that is completely understandable. It has a lot of information such as music publishing, legal topics, and agreements. It also has Q&A sections from Henry Rollins, Fred Croshal (Maverick Records) and Neil Gillis (VP of A&R at Warner/Chappel Music). Bobby Borg was my instructor and I know he knows his stuff. The music industry is an arcane language, but this book makes everything easy to understand. Everyone in our class was happy to be able to study of off such a book. Buy it! it's worth it.

5-0 out of 5 stars THIS IS A MUST READ FOR EVERY SERIOUS MUSICIAN!!!
I would recommend this book to anyone who is a SERIOUS musician or if you are truly serious about being in the entertainment business! I bought this book at the TAXI Music Convention in Hollywood, California after sitting through one of Bobby Borg's seminars. I thought to myself why not buy it and read it after all that is why I attended the Music Conference in the first place: to expand my knowledge about the music industry! That is exactly what this book does! In fact I like this book so much I bought 4 extra copies for my bandmates and a couple other people that I work with in the entertainment industry. This book is very easy to read and has tons of useful information in it. Once again if you are SERIOUS about being in the Music Industry you owe it to yourself to read this! Sibyl Robinson hears the evening news that Quebec's Lagado government has called a referendum it hopes will separate the French province from Canada. Upset by the announcement the unilingual anglophone leaves her flat on Cumae street and walks her dog Trio through Montreal's Little Burgundy district down to the Lachine Canal. On the way home she discovers the slain body a black youth in a school yard near her flat. Packets of cocaine are found in the boy's pockets and police assume the killing to be drug related. Sibyl's concern over the murder of 'one of her people' leads her to a friend of the slain youth and the two set out to find the killer. Product Description
A professional dancer’s career, like a professional athlete’s, lasts an average of 10 to 15 years. Once the prime years of physical prowess have passed retirement is inevitable, but dancers still have many years of adult life ahead. The challenge for many is making the transition into a new career.

Motivated by her own career transition, author Nancy Upper interviewed former ballet dancers who made successful transitions into new careers after they stopped performing.

Part 1 of the book features dancers who remained in ballet-related careers. Part 2 features four individuals who chose careers outside the field of dance. Part 3 focuses on dancers who pursued non-dance careers that help dancers and other performing artists. Appendices include the marketable qualities dancers develop as a result of their training, career transition tips, transition resources, and a graph mapping the transition process. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars An essential guide
Nancy Upper's Ballet Dancers In Career Transition holds such a hefty price tag for a standard-sized paperback that primarily libraries specializing in dance collections will want to spring for it - but any such library should not hesitate to make the purchase, being as it's one of the few to address the professional dancer's changing career options. A professional dancer lasts from 10-15 years - then it's time for retirement, even though many years of adult life are ahead. Upper made her own career transition and uses her own experiences to relate her challenges, adding interviews with other former ballet dancers who made successful transitions into new careers. An essential guide, highly recommended for ballet book collections.
