A great first child's book.
One of the few books I review is in the category ofChildren's literature and after reading this book I am sorry I begin doing the reviews before.Written by 11-year-old Laura Caso this 28-page book is about getting the Chicken pox and how it affected her life.

Laura writes about what happens to her and her brother and sister when they all come down the chicken pox and the story is delightful. Laura also illustrated the book as well. I especially enjoyed the dog's footprints to help guide you through the pages.

I have read this story to both my children several times and they enjoyed, in fact it has become a real bedtime favorite. At 11 and published, that is something to proud of and so is this book... ... Read more

We found this "book" to have the same information as is available for no cost on any standard web search.We were looking for more difinitive information as to the cause and relief of Shingles and found this book did not answer any questions beyond what we found on our web searches.

This series of books are very quick to read and my daughter loved them when she was growing up. They are written about everyday happenings that kids experience, like getting the chicken pox, going to nursery school for the first time, and so on. WHAT FUN!!!

It made me want to read book three

First Abby had chicken pox. Then Abby lost them and the rest of her family got them, except for her mom and her dad. And then it was her brother's birthday, so she wanted to make a cake that looked like Korea. But the cake crumbled, so she remade the cake and sprinkled it with red cherry chips to look like it had chicken pox.

I think the book was fun because of how Abby fixed the cake. It made me want to read book three. I give it five stars.

Was very pleased to get this book.It was in excellent shape & came quickly.

Engaging
The second in the Cul-de-sac Kids series and they have been hit by the chicken pox.A fun story which also teaches without being preachy.Abby plans a surprise for her brother and helps her friend solve the mystery of her childhood.Nothing scary in this story, it's one to make you smile.

The chicken pox panic
I realy liked it because Abby kept a secret from her Korean broter Shawn.I think this is a funny book because Abby made a huge mess when she was baking a cake shaped like South Korea.I think this is a great book and you should read it too!

one of my favorite books as a child!
i was read this book and i read [ later on] many times when i was little,as I was an avid arthur fan! this was probably my favrotie and when i was 5 and got the chicken pox it was very comforting to know what would happen etc. i am just disappointed my children will not have to full opportunity to understand this book and the disease it talks about becuase of the legally required vacine and much smaller number of cases

maybe even by the time i have children this will be like small pox or polio and virtually wiped out

Great Substitute
My daughter lost her library book, so this was a replacement. I didn't know she'd lost a hardback book instead of a paperback. Oh well! The book was as described and will fit beautifully into the school library.

Arthur Goes to the Circus
I read Arthur's Chicken Pox.In this book, Arthur gets the chicken pox.Arthur wakes up with red spots on his face.He gets to eat on the sofa and DW wants to eat on the sofa, too.Will Arthur ever get better...I think you should read this book.

A Book About Being Sick That Children Will Like - a review of "Arthur's Chicken Pox"
My take on this book results from my observations of my four and six year olds (boy and girl).I think it would be popular with children precisely for the same reason that books on loose teeth are popular:children in this age range are tremendously curious about their bodies.

My daughter went frantic for a while inquiring about loose teeth.She inspected the mouth of anyone who had missing teeth or who had wobbly ones.She asked what happened to them that they got loose, and what happened to them after they fell out....

In the same way, I see her looking at this book about chicken pox.She (and to a lesser extent, her brother) are curious about the spots, what they mean, etc.Also, I think it is just dawning on children this age that they can get very ill, and I believe it is comforting to them see that they will be cared for.

[One mom commented that she was concerned about how much loving care was lavished on Arthur and D.W. But I think it is reassuring to children.]

Four Stars.Okay Read-aloud that is interesting to children.
