1-0 out of 5 stars Readers Digest Songbook with CD
I was very disappointed to order this songbook with CD and they never sent the CD. The whole reason I ordered this item was for the CD, Ialready have the songbooks. Did not send what I ordered, would rate this seller as very poor.

4-0 out of 5 stars Must have for young music lovers
My 3-year-old loves to hear and learn new songs, and this songbook has one of the best collections I've seen. It has folksongs, disney/cartoon songs, and just fun/funny songs. Some of the songs are a bit too long (ie Rainbow Connection) for her now, but she can still enjoy it and learn as she grows. The music is fairly easy to play on the piano. I haven't tried any other instruments. My only wish is that they offer the whole collection or at least most of the songs in a CD package. The 1 CD they give you has 12 songs. The songs are done well. It made us want more. SMT

5-0 out of 5 stars Lots of fun!
The only complaints I've read about this book are that people were disappointed in the number of songs on the CD. I bought the book for the piano music and actually plan to give the CD to my nephew. I am thoroughly enjoying playing the music in the book. It's fun because now my kids actually want to go sing the songs while I play. Some of the songs are a little hard for me to sight read perfectly, but I would still classify it as an intermediate book -- not too many sharpes and flats at a time, which is nice. If you just want a way to have fun with your kids and get them interested in the piano, this is perfect!

5-0 out of 5 stars An AWESOME Music Book!
This is a GREAT selection of tunes for young and old alike! Some wonderful songs for beginners to practice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great music for your children!
I bought this book for my adult daughter who is about to be certified as a Music Therapist. She plays piano and guitar and sings. She loves the songbook! It is all the favorites she has sung and played with children and some new ones. The arrangements are lively and wonderful. Great for kids! She works with children who have special needs and also who are quite ill in the hospital. In addition, she brings her music to the home of the family she babysits. The little ones love the songs. This is a songbook that will bring you hours of great joy and unforgettable tunes.
As a practical comment, the spiral notebook style is a plus. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Comprehensive bible stories for jewish children
We discovered that comprehensive and accurate (yet edited to reach a child's level of understanding) Bible stories for Jewish children are hard to locate. We searched and found a wonderful version, beautifully illustrated, of the Torah (check it out as well on Amazon), but not more. Then a local Jewish librarian heard our plaints and showed us this book. We immediately purchased a copy for our children's library. Most of the primary bible stories are in it and some additional. They are true to the source while presented for the comprehension of a younger mind. Our children are receiving an excellent early knowledge of the Tanakh and their origins/heritage. Beautifully illustrated. Great price too!

5-0 out of 5 stars A beautiful book
This is a beautiful book for children. The stories are written such that they can be read together for younger children, or older children can read them alone. I was very pleased to find an edition aimed at children that was not also a Christian bible. This is an excellent choice.

5-0 out of 5 stars Jewish Bible
Absolutely what I wanted for my grandson who wanted to know about the "Bible".Highly recommend this book.

5-0 out of 5 stars beautiful and informative
this book is beautifully written and illustrated.it also has a lot of sidebar information and pictures on the sides.my children (5 and 2) love to hear stories from it.it brings the stories from the Tanakh to life for them.
I strongly recommend this book!

5-0 out of 5 stars The Children's Illustrated Jewish BIble
This beautifully illustrated book retells bible stories from all three sections of the Tanakh--Torah, Prophets, and Writings. Along the sides of the stories are illustrations and photographs that help children identify places, life style, and time periods in the typical DK format. The translation and biblical quotes follow The Holy Scriptures According to the Masoretic Text: A New Translation, copyright 1917 by Jewish Publication Society. Each Bible story is told on a two-page spread. The stories are told simply with an emphasis on action that will hold a child's interest. In addition, there are many interesting facts and information about the ancient Hebrews given in introductions explaining each section and sidebars along each page. The book has an excellent index, list of Biblical places and Biblical names. Unfortunately, very few entries are about women in the Bible. Although the authors talk about Jacob and his sons, there is no mention of his daughter Dinah. The Matriarchs are mentioned only in relationship to Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. There is no mention of Deborah, either. Although the story of Josiah and the Scrolls is told, Huldah is absent from this version. There is a nice retelling of the story of Ruth, however, and Michal's rescue of David is presented well. The pictures are colorful and include many photographs of modern day people in biblical settings. For example, when talking about David being a shepherd, the illustrator uses a photo of a shepherd in modern Israel. Photographs of statues and pottery found in archaeological digs in addition to photos of actual places mentioned in the text add immeasurably to the book's appeal. The audio CD tells some of the stories from the book. Teresa Gallagher, the narrator, has a pleasant speaking voice and uses good expression in reading the stories. The added information, many sidebars, maps, and the retelling of the stories themselves in clear, easy-to-understand language makes this a valuable book for children and adults looking for a simple introduction to biblical text. This book is highly recommended for all collections. Ages 7 and up.Reviewed by Susan Dubin ... Read more

Product Description
Winner of the 2010 BOOK OF THE YEAR for Children's Interactive Books and the 2009 SEAL OF EXCELLENCE award for Children's Picture Books from Creative Child Magazine!

Not since the three bears has there been a children's story about the family of three or the only child. This book captures the spirit and love of the family of three and invites other family numbers to participate. The book is interactive and asks children to draw pictures representing their own family unit. This makes the book more than just a story book but a pictorial journal of the child's personal family experience.Inspired by her own family of three, Vivian Cameron-Gallo sets out to take the "only child" out of the isolation that generalizes and labels the only child. The single child does not stand alone but stands as an important part of a larger unit, a family. This interactive story is about families and the things they do together. The author hopes that the reader will follow along and draw pictures about their family on the blank pages designed for this purpose. The illustrations by Christina Simcic have captured the love of many different families. This book is made from the heart for all the young hearts beating to become our future. "We're Three" let's you know that your place in the world is special! ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars over priced
It's not that the book is bad...but it's not exactly a book either. It is very cheap looking, folded over and stapled like a calendar. I'm returning it. Had I paid $5. I would've kept it.

The wording is hard to read because it's a hand-written type - (like what you see on the cover)- not exactly cursive but very close. My daughter is 6 and is now reading simple books but the lettering in this "book" would be too hard for her to read.

All in all - it is a very "amatuerish" type book, both the print and the illustrations, way over-priced.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Great Story for Only Children
We're Three is an excellent story. It illustrates the fun and joy that comes with being part of a family of three. The interactive pages not only help kids to recognize how special their family is but is also a fun way for them to personalize the story. From my own experience I can remember being jealous of my friends and begging for a sibling. Stories like We're Three help remind only children just how great things can be in a small family.

5-0 out of 5 stars Lovely Little Book....
A sweet and simple story with wonderful illustrations! This is a great tool for opening up discussions with your only child about your small family. And your child can personalize their copy on the pages provided.

5-0 out of 5 stars Stories for Children Magazine 5 Star Review
REVIEWED BY: Wayne Walker

"There are all kinds of families in this great big world. Some are big with lots of kids ... and some are small, with not too many or simply none at all."Did you know that the single-child family is the fastest growing type of American family?Yet, when author Vivian Cameron-Gallo, the mother of an "only child," sought a children's book that represented her daughter Ava, she found only a few and those had a melancholy tone with negative stereotypes. Therefore, inspired by her own family of three, she wrote this endearing little book to make the single child feel "normal" and part of something bigger--a family.

The gentle, flowing verse makes for easy reading, and the colorful drawings by Christina Simcic add visual beauty to the text.In addition, the story is interactive, asking children to draw various pictures which represent their own family unit. Thus, it is more than just a story book.It becomes a pictorial journal of the child's own personal family experience."Only children" are reminded that they do not stand alone, and their families are encouraged to do things together.I think that We're Three is a very beneficial and useful book, and it has my hearty endorsement.

5-0 out of 5 stars A Charming and Delightful Story About The Love of Family
This is such a delightful story about family!Although written primarily for those who are "only" children, the story exudes an even more poignant message: the strong bond of love that exists in a family, and that we all share, no matter how large or small! The story's message is complemented through the artist's unique and charming illustrations. Children and adults of all cultures will certainly enjoy and identify with the lovely images in this book.Children especially, will enjoy the interactive pages the author has so thoughtfully provided. How wonderful that they can truly call this book their own by drawing pictures that relate to their own family! Kudos to the author and illustrator on a wonderful story, for young, and old alike.Look forward to future books by these women! P.S. This would make a lovely holiday gift for that special little girl or boy who is an only child, and needs to know how special they truly are! ... Read more

We do word of the day, everyday during the school year, and to be honest I don't think this is a great book, especially for kids eight and up.We can't find many of the words that we choose for the WOD (word of the day) so we end up looking them up on the internet -- the reason I bought this book was to NOT use the computer every time.

5-0 out of 5 stars From Drama to Yoga
This book has been a true inspiration as a mother, drama teacher, and storyteller. It blends movement with story in such a gentle and touching way, and has now helped me to create a whole new approach to warm-up exercises in drama classes with children aged 3-10.More and more teachers and parents are understanding the benefits of using yoga in classes and at home, but many people say it is hard to get children to focus on the poses for long enough. When reading this book, I thought, "of course, as a storyteller, why had I not thought of this?!Tell a story as you incorporate the poses!!" The illustrations are beautiful, and the story-poems divine. If you are a parent or a teacher, this book is a must if you would like to nourish the imagination and body.

5-0 out of 5 stars This is a GREAT book!:)
I recently read this book at the local library, because my husband and I are adopting an infant from Guatemala.I wasn't disappointed by this book at all!!The author travels to Guatemala and it's different regions. He briefly talks about some of the different parts of the country and the people who live there.I really learned a lot, this being my first book I've read regarding Guatemala. The pictures are FANTASTIC!!!They are wonderful and truly show the realism of the people and their country.Although this is a children's book, I would recommend it to anyone who wants to read more about this fascinating country.I plan to purchase (if I can ever find it) this book for my daughter!:)

2-0 out of 5 stars I was disappointed in this one
My expectations were set by the price, and I expected more insights and/or a book I could enjoy reading and displaying, since we adopted our son fromGuatemala. The book is written extremely simplistically, to the point thatit can be painful to read for anyone with a reading level over fifth gradeor so.The photographs are okay, but there is nothing particularly unusualor enlightening about them, and one could find basically the same kind ofthing in travel brochures.Overall, it's just way too expensive for whatit is.

5-0 out of 5 stars Guatemala's children are beautiful!
The world's children collection is great and my most favorite is The children of guatemala. This book made me feel much better when i first saw it.I was sick. The colorful texilites in the mayan village of Todos los Santos britten up the world.I think.I plan to visit Guatemala real soon, andsee the children for myself. ... 4-0 out of 5 stars Children's Illustrated Dictionary
This is a great dictionary for my second grader who is just learning about dictionaries in school. It's colorful and very informative for him.

5-0 out of 5 stars Makes Words Fun!
We had bought 3 dictionaries for our family (one for our 1st grader, one that's suitable for 3rd grade through middle school, and finally one for high school and college. This one I have to say has exceeded my expectations. It is easy for my 7 year old brother to use and makes him very excited about words. He likes to use the next dictionary up as well to show off to his older brother how easy it is to use, but he still loves this one. He'll sit there for an hour and just explore the words and definitions inside along with the beautiful pictures.

I highly recommend this dictionary for younger students. My brother is 7 and in 1st grade and this is absolutely wonderful for a child who is still learning how to go from the phonetic spellings to the actual correct spelling, it also helps to make it less stressful with the colorful layout and beautiful pictures. This will help your child to get a jump start on being smart when it comes to using resources such as dictionaries in order to look up spellings and definitions.

A great buy!

5-0 out of 5 stars Very Nice Children's Dictionary
My kids were learning to look up definitions and were having trouble with a traditional dictionary. This was recommended to me by another mom.We LOVE it.It is very easy for the kids to look up and the pictures are a bonus. It is a great way to learn to look up definitions.

5-0 out of 5 stars Granddaughter loves it!
Our 7 year old granddaughter is an avid reader but had not yet been introduced to the concept of a dictionary. So Grandpop and Nanny decided she needed to enhance her already advanced reading abilities with the tools to actually learn what words mean and not just sounding out vowels and sentence structure. She loves it along with the 2 encyclopedias that were a part of the 3 book package. The illustrations are very good in all 3 volumes and we would highly recommend these books for the young folks wanting to learn more than just how to read the words, but to understand them as well.A good thesaurus will not be far behind.

5-0 out of 5 stars Quality product and service
I ordered these dictionaries to give to foreign ESL students in Asia. The books were good quality and arrived in a very timely fashion (about 2 weeks from the date of purchase) and they were shipped internationally. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars Just when we thought we'd seen most sea creatures

My kids and I loved this book.Tons of pictures of sea creatures we'd never heard of before i.e. Football fish (appropriately named), Gulper Eel,, Glass sponge, Brittle Star. This interesting book covers everything related to the sea including sea birds.

Wonderful pictures & photos

5-0 out of 5 stars sort of like a sea dictionary
This was the best book I found in looking for something to do a unit on sea animals with my daughter (we homeschool). We are doing simple file folders of basic facts and picture of each animal and this was the ticket.Instead of having to look through lots of books and piece it together, this book is almost like a little dictionary of sea creatures.Probably about 3 animals to a page with an illustration and just the basic facts in about 3 sentences on each animal.Since that was all we wanted, it fit the bill. It's not in debth on the animals, just a short overview.

4-0 out of 5 stars Our preschooler loves this
Our preschooler loves this book and has pretty much memorized every "creature" in it.The drawings are exciting without being frightening and the text is short. The authors have selected creatureswith great appeal for children and she loves to say their names: Black-eyed goby!Moorish Idol!Sockeye salmon! ... 3-0 out of 5 stars It's fine and all, but ...
I purchased this atlas as a birthday gift for my three year-old daughter, as she's recently taken an interest in maps. The graphics are great, and the information appears to all be correct. But it's a bit skimpy, and it doesn't include many pictures of exotic fruits and animals. My daughter's shown little interest in it, preferring instead an atlas I received as a kid back in the early 1980s.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great preschool atlas
This atlas is perfect for my 3-year-old son.We pull it out regularly to show where something/someone is.It has simple, uncluttered maps with a few details that we can choose to read or not.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Young Child's Atlas
I purchased this atlas for my precocious four-year-old granddaughter who is very curious about the world and asking "where is that?" questions. It is simple enough for a young beginner, yet contains enough interesting material to give her food for thought for some time.A real winner!

1-0 out of 5 stars Underwhelming - Overpriced
Make sure you note this book is only 32 pages.Yes, for $17.95 you get an "atlas" that's 32 pages long. There's only 2 pages on the United States. You get very little for the money here.

5-0 out of 5 stars National Geographic Beginners World Atlas Updated
This atlas is an outstanding means for introducing young children to one of the many important tools necessary for mastering geography. The continents are clearly and boldly shown.Information is precise and appropriate. ... Read more
