1-0 out of 5 stars totaly out of date.
I borrowed this book from a friend. It's over 10 years old and totaly out of date. Digital equipment and software is changing at such an amazing rate that a book of this nature needs to be revised or rewriten often. Unless your trying to record on a computer that has a green blinking cursor. Don't bother.

5-0 out of 5 stars The first book you should read on e-Business. Fun to read!
Confused over jargons and buzzwords such as CRM, MRO, B2B, B2E, e-Procurement? Loss in conversations about doing business over the Internet? Need a jump-start in understanding what e-Business and e-Commerce is all about? Then look no further. "E-Business Essentials" by Frank J Derfler may be the book you are looking for.

This book is probably the first of its kind that stresses on the importance of relationships in e-Business - relationships between your company and its customers, suppliers and employees. These relationships are the cornerstone to the three major building blocks of e-Business, Business to Consumer, Business to Business and Business to Employees. Each of these building blocks is discussed in details in its own section, substantiated with interesting real world case studies.

This book does not attempt to be a `how-to' manual. There are little or no technical design or architecture diagrams and definitely no code examples. Its main emphasis is on the `whys' and the `whats' of e-Business. Buzzwords and important concepts are conspicuously marked and defined in the margins of pages that discuss them.

Although written primarily for those with little or no exposure to the subject, it is by no means a 'Dummies' book. While it is written in layman's language and a style that is easy to understand, there are enough details to challenge the intellect. It will definitely lay a good foundation in the understanding of the fundamentals. Even those who have been in e-Business for a while will find this book refreshing and well organized. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Practically worthless
I agree wholeheartedly with the last review. This out of date book gives advice that is a little too "practical" so much so that it is almost useless. I simply don't understand why this book was written. And it is too simplistic in its outlook.Sorry, news stories aren't that clean.Worthless.

Like the old Chilton manuals for car repair. They're great if you already know how to repair your car. Long on click here, short on why or when. ... Read more

2-0 out of 5 stars Poorly written and laid out
Written by the British staff of the Official Windows Magazine (which comes out quarterly here stateside and is not a bad magazine, available at your local B&N and Borders bookstores), this beginner's guide to Win7 is rather poorly written. Some of the step-by-step instructions are missing a step or two, and the layout is hideous: each topic is spread over two facing pages, but often it's not obvious wether you should read across the top of the two pages first, or read one page before the other.I feel that even though the book underwent editing by an American English speaker, the writing is still very awkward to an American reader.

What I hate the most though, are those so-called super tips, which are nothing but some very basic things anyone under 50 can figure out on their own (no offense to anyone over 50 as I'm getting there prety soon).

For better introductions to Windows 7, try Windows 7 Step by Step (Step By Step (Microsoft)) or Teach Yourself VISUALLY Windows 7 (Teach Yourself VISUALLY (Tech)).

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Win 7 Companion!!
What a refreshing and fun read!!If you or someone you know likes to tinker and play on the computer this is a fantastic guide!!With 200 pages of yummy FULL COLOR content (i always love full color), you will learn how to work and play with the amazing Windows 7 operating system!!

I love this book, if you want to learn more and have fun doing it, pick this up TO-DAY!!!

***** HIGHLY RECOMMENDED

5-0 out of 5 stars Must Read
Everyone who buys Windows 7 will benefit from this pictorial article approach. The format is much like that of Smart Computing. There is something of interest to all.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best Book for learning Win 7
I just upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 and this was a great book. It has good step by step instructions. The illustrations are clear and the Table of Contents is wonderful at covering the most pertinent. I would like to recommend this book for newbies as well as old timers to refresh their skills. ... Read more
