Product Description
This ebook is complete with linked Table of content making navigation quicker and easier.

Those who during the past thirty or forty years have frequented working men's clubs or other centres of discussion in which, here and there, an Owenite survivor or a Chartist veteran was to be found, will often have heard of the Guernsey Market House. Here, it would be explained, was a building provided by the Guernsey community for its own uses, without borrowing, without any toll of interest, and, indeed, without cost. To many a humble disputant the Guernsey Market House seemed, in some mysterious way, to have been exempt from that servitude to previously accumulated capital in which the whole creation groaneth and travaileth. By the simple expedient of paying for the work in Government notes—issued to the purveyors of material, the master-workmen and the operatives, accepted as currency throughout the island, and eventually redeemed out of the annual market revenues—all tribute to the capitalist was avoided. In face of this successful experiment, the fact that we, in England, continued to raise loans and subject ourselves to "drag at each remove a lengthening chain" of interest on public debt, often seemed so perplexingly foolish as to be inexplicable, except as the outcome of some deep-laid plot of "the money power."

When first I heard of this Guernsey Market House, as in some mysterious way exempted from the common lot, I was curious to enquire what transaction had, in fact, taken place in an island which was, after all, not so far removed in space or time from the Lombard Street that I knew. In all the writings of the economists (for which my estimate was at that time, as indeed it is now, such as I could not easily put into appropriate words), I found no mention of this Phœnix among market-houses. I fear that, too hastily, I dismissed the story as mythical. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars traditional method of trading forex
after trading for a while, i'm sure intermediate to experienced traders would have settled down on a style or method that suits their personality, or have found success with.they would have customized certain chart indicators (or just price actions) and laid out their screen/s in a way that is consistent, and not likely to change from one new indicator to the next.for this group of traders, this book may not be useful in that it discusses the "traditional" method of trading using MACD(12,26,9), Stochastic(14,3,3), and RSI(14) using default settings as proposed by the inventors of these indicators.Chapter 9 is the main part that teaches actual trade setups using these indicators, and unless you also used the same combination of MACD/Stochastic/RSI in your own trading, this book would not be relevant if you already settled on other indicator systems.

Chapters 1-8 are basic introductions to the world of forex (including the influence of fundamentals) and technical analysis.Chapter 9 ties all together in trade signals.Chapters 10-13 discusses trading philosophy and risk management.i gave the book 4 stars in that it is a complete manual for trading ....... if you use MACD/Stochastic/RSI combination.there are no new revelations about forex or trading in general, no special techniques or secrets, and nothing you would not have read elsewhere on the internet. However this does not imply the methods don't work, as the authors had successfully traded and taught the same methods for years to their clients and students.

for beginners and novice traders, this book is all-in-one manual and you don't have to read hundreds of internet articles only to find the same materials are covered comprehensively in this book.it will give you a good start in using MACD/Stochastic/RSI combination.i personally don't use MACD and quickly discovered in Chapter 9 that i would not be using the trade signals they taught (no 5 stars).however, i found the book very well written and had in fact gone back to finish reading the other chapters for the basics, no matter how experienced i may be.

5-0 out of 5 stars Great Forex Book
Great Book !!

This is a great Book for Forex Traders and anyone who wants to learn about Forex. The Book is straight forward and simple to understand.I've been trading for a while and I still found this book more than just a review.I like how the author pulls everything together in Chapter 9.Here, the book goes beyond just the technical's and shows you how to pull it all together. For me, the trade signals/triggers were helpful. The strategy was different from what I use and this book laid out a better way.I'm now using the new information in my trading and it really helps.
This book is not just about tech analysis. If you are looking for a book on "only" technical analysis there are others you might find more helpful.Personally, I think technical analysis is really simple. The hard part is applying the technical's to a moving market so you can make money. That is what I like about the last chapters in the book. The principals are sound and overall I would recommend this book to anyone looking to better their Forex trading.

5-0 out of 5 stars Day Trading
Best book on trading Ive read by far. Was so impressed by the book that I also purchased the authors 101 training course, which has firmly put me on the path to consistent profitability. [...]

5-0 out of 5 stars Best forex book ever? But not for beginners.
This may be the best forex book I've ever read. The reason is it has practical, clear and straightforward techniques and examples. They also explain in detail not only strategies, but how to really use and understand the indicators.

I've been studying and trading forex for over 4 years and I have read tons of books and taken about every training course our there, and I think this is the most practical forex book on the market.

The reason I said not for beginners is that beginners won't understand forex is highly technically driven, and basically all strategies work on all pairs, so you don't need to disect each pair, or even present each pair in charts, but a newbie will assume that you do have to do that and is expecting that, so newbies won't understand how really good this book is.Also, someone used to trading stocks won't understand how important the technical aspect of trading forex is, and also will probably gloss over the detail and not understand just how subtle the difference between technicals on stocks and forex can be and think this book is too simple - it's not.I traded stocks before forex so I know just how important one teany weany subtle detail in the technical verbage can be when it comes to forex, where a newbie stock trader will miss it because stocks are company specific info first and technical second, and the technical side for stocks just has to be general and basic, but not so with forex, so newbies to forex won't get it, but to experienced traders in forex this book is pure gold.

5-0 out of 5 stars Excellent currency trading education
I recently started studying with Jay Norris and his currency trading method. Previously I had 5 years of currency trading education but was not as successful with the methods I had learned and was using. What I found to be the most helpful with Jay's approach was teaching me what information I should DISGARD in identifying a set up. He really helped me refine my shorter time frame trading, which is very helpful in this market with these market conditions. I also found it extremely refreshing to not have to box myself into whether I traded fundamentally or technically. This method really focuses in on the price action on the right side of the chart and how to best identify a trade set up so you don't miss a great trade on ANY time frame. Jay has also helped teach me to look at "fact based trades" versus trading emotionally. I finally can discipline myself so much easier with this method. Best of all, Jay is very personable and loves what he does for a living. ... Read more

Product Description
Hong Kong's Link to the US Dollar covers the origins of the city's currency crisis in 1983, the initial resolution of the crisis by creation of a currency board, the subsequent problems leading to the Asian financial crisis of 1997-98, and the later reforms. The epilogue traces Hong Kong's monetary developments between 1990 and 2005.

This valuable compendium of articles, originally written in the bimonthly journal Asian Monetary Monitor during the years 1981-89, includes the key article that formed the basis for the Hong Kong government's decision in 1983 to peg the currency to the US$, as well as other important documents of historical record. The main contribution of the book is its detailed monetary analysis of Hong Kong's unique financial system before and after the currency crisis of 1983. The book explains the collapse of the floating HK$ under the pressure of capital outflows during the Sino-British negotiations (1982-84) over the future of Hong Kong, the fascinating story of the introduction of the linked rate system pegging the Hong Kong dollar to the US dollar, and the subsequent gradual process of reform and refinement of the currency board mechanism (1988-2005). Each chapter is preceded by an introductory narrative that puts the analysis in its historical context and places the economic argument in perspective. Hong Kong's Link to the US Dollar will enable readers to obtain a comprehensive picture of why the linked rate system was put in place, how it works, and why it has been strengthened over the years. ... *** A ForexTutor.us Special Report ***

Is foreign exchange trading a true get rich quick scheme? Foreign exchange trading, or Forex, is a real opportunity to get extremely wealthy in a very short amount of time. How?

The key is leverage.

Some Forex brokers allow you a leverage ratio of 200:1. That is the equivalent of investing $1,000 into a $200,000 asset, and an asset that you could turn around and trade within seconds for a quick profit if done correctly!

Forex trading involves dealing in international currencies. Here, one can sell currency of one country to buy that of another. The trader deals in Foreign Exchange [Forex] at the most appropriate time to profit from the transaction. Good ability to forecast plays a vital role here. One may wonder how Forex trading can be such a lucrative earning opportunity since fluctuations in exchange is so little.

But remember, when done in big volumes, a minor change can mean a lot. There are many non-monetary advantages to it as well. Anyone who wants to deal in Forex can do so, since only the basic knowledge is required for it.

5-0 out of 5 stars The Quarters Theory; An indispensible roadmap for Forex Traders
Ilian Yotov's Quarters Theory is an indispensible roadmap for successfully navigating the seemingly erratic moves and random chaos of the foreign exchange currency market. The Quarters Theory is an unmatched trading methodology that is literally unavailable anywhere else.

Ilian's years of expertise and insight has resulted in a guidebook which demonstrates the outwardly-unpredictable market does move in hidden but clearly predictable ways. The Quarter's Theory teachings provide the tools and skills that allow a trader to be alert to a series of distinct and favorable conditions before making any serious moves, thereby assuring the highest probability for success in what is otherwise a Wild West crap shoot.

My sincere appreciation and gratitude go to Ilian Yotov for his tremendous effort and truly insightful success in finding observable order amidst the chaos. The Quarters Theory is a compass, barometer and survival kit for any forex trader who wants to know, understand and trade with confidence.

3-0 out of 5 stars Has anybody made any serious money with this method
I've read this book and the theory sounds plausible BUT has anybody (including the author) made money - serious money - using this method? It's all well to come out with great ideas (and there are many in the forex trading considering the number of titles in this category) only A VERY FEW of them yield solid results. So please, if you generate big moola, give this book 5 stars and spread the word.

Product Description

The "Argentine disappointment"—why Argentina persistently failed to achieve sustained economic stability during the twentieth century—is an issue that has mystified scholars for decades. In Straining the Anchor, Gerardo della Paolera and Alan M. Taylor provide many of the missing links that help explain this important historical episode. Written chronologically, this book follows the various fluctuations of the Argentine economy from its postrevolutionary volatility to a period of unprecedented prosperity to a dramatic decline from which the country has never fully recovered. The authors examine in depth the solutions that Argentina has tried to implement such as the Caja de Conversión, the nation's first currency board which favored a strict gold-standard monetary regime, the forerunner of the convertibility plan the nation has recently adopted.

With many countries now using—or seriously contemplating—monetary arrangements similar to Argentina's, this important and persuasive study maps out one of history's most interesting monetary experiments to show what works and what doesn't.

5-0 out of 5 stars When historyfruitfully enlightens the current debate
Very recommendable either for a Ph.D. student interested in the history of emerging markets crisis or the scholar aiming to tell her students how modern theory and empirical tests are applicable to some stories like the Argentine one.

Not only is this book a magnific contribution to understand the monetary and banking history of Argentina, but also a contribution that informs present-day debates in macroeconomics (e.g. the choice of optimal exchange rate regime, various generations of financial and currency crisis, bank runs). The authors make a significant effort to formalise major stylised facts across different crisis episodes, through the lens of modern monetary and banking theory. Moreover, they offer a fresh look at issues concerning crisis management and resolution and policy evaluation in the "first" era of economic globalisation (1880-1914) as well as during the interwar period all the way down to the 1930's depression.
Modern tools help test the hypothesis laid out generally at the beginning of the theoretical framework introduced in each chapter. Ranging from accounting exercises (fiscal solvency, banking balance sheets, as a few examples)to cutting-edge time series econometric modelling, the evidence found by the authours sheds light on crucial empirical issues. Some examples may illustrate this point:
a) The Purchasing Power Parity assumption (PPP, in a single equation cointegrating framework);
b) Money supply and demand, and exchange rate determinants in 1884-1913;
c) The Internal-External Convertibility dynamics (phase diagram, Vector Error Correction Model estimation)

Finally, the lessons drawn by Della Paolera and Taylor are, in my view, very telling to the way Argentina got into the path to the collapse of the currency board 1991-2001. ... Read more
