Extractions: Introduced to the United States in 1922, the Chinese game of mahjongg took hold of Americans within a year with millions of enthusiastic followers. Women of mahjongg clubs wore silk kimonos to play in proper attire while the game became the concrete form of entertainment within fraternity houses and dormitories. By 1923, mahjongg sets were outselling radios, and American entreprenuers quickly jumped on the bandwagon. Chicago meat packers sent bones to China for carving. Sets were sold at prices ranging from a few dollars to $500. American novices paid for rulebooks and Chinese Americans to teach them the ritziest game of the 20's.
Ballroom Latin Boston Dance Studio I have always loved to dance at fads. That is something I think coming to a studiolike fads offers a chance to dance, talk with other students and have FUN! http://www.fadsboston.com/Testimonials.asp
Extractions: tel. 781-769-4246 Getting married? Read testimonials from wedding couples whom we instructed. I started dancing 6 years ago as a way to relax after a day at work . I soon found out there are many benefits to dancing. One of the benefits was the exercise part of it. I had no ideal of the amount of exercise involved with dance. The other was confidence that I could go out on the dance floor and know what I was doing. Dance has been a very big part of my life and I cant imagine my life with out it. Dancing at Freds is the most energizing, athletic and relaxing time of the week for me. When arriving at the dance studio Monika and the others teachers make me feel right at home. Monika makes learning how to dance rewarding and exciting. The atmosphere here at the studio makes learning how to dance fun and enjoyable . I recommend all of the teachers for anyone learning to dance.
Ballroom Latin Boston Dance Studio After speaking with Armin Kappacher, owner of the Fred Astaire dance Studios (fads)in Boston and Norwood, Michael was certain he had found the right place. http://www.fadsboston.com/wedding-testimonials.asp
Extractions: tel. 781-769-4246 Having our wedding dance choreographed helped to make our first dance as husband and wife a moment we - and probably most of our guests - will remember for the rest of our lives. If we had not started taking ballroom dance lessons several months before our wedding, our wedding dance would have been just another high school slow dance. Instead, we astounded friends and family with an elegant Waltz. Even the catering staff stopped to watch and, afterwards asked if we were professional dancers! If they were impressed with us, we cant imagine what they would have thought if they could have seen the instructors at Fred Astaire. - Kerry and Tucker Evans We absolutely love the instructors and the atmosphere at FADS. They helped us put together such an incredible program for our wedding day. We did it in just 8 weeks. Every one of our wedding guests was thrilled with our dancing. Especially when we made our entrance into the reception with a spectacular Tango.

Everyone remembers a favorite toy, certain fashion or article of clothing that they grew up with. I'm sure if we would of just storehoused many of these items from our yesteryears we could have made a very handsome profit today. About Us Leigh H. Dijkstra. 1979 Joined fads as a dance teacher and was soon promotedto dance Director. In 1982 became the manager of the Pretoria Studio. http://www.fredastaire.co.za/about.htm
Extractions: About Us The Beginning of the Organization Tommy Williams Dancing School. Tommy Williams opened the first Tommy Williams Dancing School in Eloff Street in Johannesburg. The population at the time was so small that store owners used to sit in chairs on the pavement waiting for customers. Over the next few years, the studio, under the direction of Tommy Williams, grew to become the largest studio in Johannesburg with it's slogan "Beginners our Speciality". Unlike other studios at the time, he concentrated on serving the social environment through giving the public what they wanted, having fun through dancing. During the Second World War the studio became "the place to go" for returning soldiers from the war front. In 1947 he brought out the "Tommy Williams Dancing Feet" correspondence course, which taught millions of people to dance from Cape to Cairo. People could now learn to dance at home with his registered, revolutionary cut out feet which students placed on the floor and followed the "dancing feet". By 1960 the studio had become the oldest established school making it a household name, with branches in Durban and Johannesburg. When people thought of learning to dance, they immediately thought of Tommy Williams Dancing School. His Dance Studios were the first to study traditional dancing, such as Opskut and Sakkie at Universities and bringing them into our syllabus and making them part of our curriculum. In 1976, with nine branches established, the Williams family at a historic meeting in Durban, entered into a long-term relationship with the Fred Astaire Dance Chain.
