5-0 out of 5 stars techniques not just flashy pictures
hey, all you motocross and dual sport fans... tired of buying magasines about MX and seeing mounds of advertisement for clothing and sticker kits??If you want real help with the actual techniques of motorcross riding get this book. I found the title on my dual sport webpage... and it does not hesitate to recommend this book written in 1972!It's cool to see pictures of what we now think of nostalgic motorbikes... but it's got the techniques and the methods to grab seconds off your lap times!
I devoured this book because it had all the details that make my life on the trail splendid;from brake sliding techniques to how to race ready your bike!! By the way, it is not just the author's words... he gets other motorcross experts to add info. The cool thing is that there is a little bit of overlap of info from one expert to the other... but each tells it his way so you get to form your own picture too!
Someone should redo this book in multimedia... or a movie... kinda like 'On Any Sunday' but with closeups of techniques.
My racing buddies read it and said that this book shaves off weekends of shedding bad habits... if they had read it earlier they would have saved tanks of gas and nasty bruisings.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best mountain bike guide I own!
The authors actually thought of everything in this book, aside from GPS points. It has it all, comedy, details and more details.I've read many guidebooks over the years and this one is definitely one of the best. From tons of rides in every ability level, to lodging, camping, eats and extra curricular activities.Don't think about, just buy this book and go to Sun Valley mountain biking!!

4-0 out of 5 stars Excellent book with many awesome rides.
This book is laid out well with concise and accurate information about many wonderful mountain bike trails. The rating system, general description and mile by mile directions are very good. The only reasons Idon't give it five stars is that the trail names in the book don't alwaysmatch the trail names on sign posts (we got lost).Maybe they've changedthe signs since the book was published. Also, the grid indicatingelevation gain is a bit misleading. You can't compare one ride to anotherusing their grid system. We used this book for 4 different trails in SunValley and one near Stanely and really had fun.Believe them when theyclassify a couple rides as "abusive".

5-0 out of 5 stars Outrageous!!!!!!!
This guidebook sets the standard for other guidebook authors to follow.Clear, concise and accurate information at your fingertips!Good Dirt rocks!

5-0 out of 5 stars Finally, a great accurate guidebook for the Sun Valley area
Hands down, one of the best guidebooks I've had the pleasure to read coverto cover.I truely couldn't put it down.Thank you McRoberts'. ... Read more

Product Description
Our world has started to see the benefits of two-wheeled vehicles like scooters. With the tremendous increase in car usage, it has become a necessity for millions of people to meet traffic problems riding smaller vehicles like the scooter.

Why is there such a demand for scooters in the world today? Many individuals have come to realize that traffic need not be a problem anymore. Having a scooter for short-distance travel is truly a solution. It's small yet swift build has contributed to its convenience in the travel experience.Since a scooter operates at a slower speed, it is safer than a motorcycle for most people.

Scooters are generally broken down into five main types.
• Gas scooter
These scooters are lightweight, stylish, portable and cost or energy efficient. Gas scooters are affordable; thus a good alternative for recreational or sporting activities and local commutes.
• Electric scooters
If you’re looking to avoid roller-coaster gas prices,an electric scooter may be to your liking.Electric scooters are moderately priced and are good for a distance of 20 to 30 miles.
• Mobility scooters
Mobility scooters have made it possible for people with disabilities or those with difficulty walking to be more independent and have the ability to move around with greater ease.More and more seniors and people who have special needs are using them as a means of transport. They can either be gas operated scooters or electric scooters.
• Pocket bikes
A pocket bike is a scaled-down version of the basic motor bike, complete with working components. It has the same use and function as the larger version, except in a smaller body. Pocket bikes may run using either gas or electric.
• Kick Scooters
Kick scooters, as its name implies, is a small wheeled platform used to propel the user forward with or without the use of a motor. Most kick scooters are a flat deck with two wheels while some designs feature three or four. The kick scooter is the grandfather of the modern skateboard.

In this book, you will find descriptions, along with pros and cons, of each type of scooter, information on maintenance of scooters, safety issues as well as laws pertaining to the operation of scooters. ... Read more

1-0 out of 5 stars Almost incoherent
Save your money! This reads like a high school research paper. Verb tenses are all over the place, and in many sections I had to re-read sentences to figure out what the author was trying to communicate.

In the end, the subject-verb agreement problems, along with the lack of any but the most basic information, made me wish I had kept my money. I wondered why this was so cheap -- now I know. Save your cash. ... Read more

5-0 out of 5 stars About time!!
I've done the online searches for places to ride near Phoenix. It seems that only the few more popular places ever come up.This book details those same popular places to ride as well other other routes that I had never heard of before. If you want to ride your ATV nearby the Phoenix area, and don't know where to go, this is the book for you.One feature that I find particularly helpful are the GPS coordinate listings of both the trailheads and the various points of interest along the routes. 5-0 out of 5 stars ATV Guide to Colorado Central Mountains
The author has done a great job of finding trails not far from where I live, yet I did not know existed. With GPS coordinates and directions, the trails are easy to find. This author has published a number of similar guide books and all are excellent sources for riding and explaining the level of difficulty encountered on the trails.

5-0 out of 5 stars Better for ATV's than other map books
I bought this book as well as Colorado Road and Recreation Atlas. There is a great more detail in this book. This book includes detailed maps for each trail, color coded by difficulty in each segment, GPS coordinates for trailheads and important intersections along the trail. There is a nice synopsis for each trail, with "how to get there", difficulty, trail desciption by segement, etc. Also a nice quick reference sheet listing east trail by difficulty and maximum elevation.I have been on a number of the trails and for these the book was very accurate. On the other map book, about all you have is unlabelled red lines that may or may not be trails open to ATV's.Thumbs-up on this one.

5-0 out of 5 stars ATV Trails Guide Colorado Central Mountains
The book is an excellent reference of ATV trails in Central Colorado.
I can't wait to investigate these trails after reading the book.
Charles Wells goes to extent on describing the conditions and what these trails have to offer.

5-0 out of 5 stars husband loves it
My husband says this is a great book and would give it a five star rating.

5-0 out of 5 stars Best ATV Book in Colorado
After comparing and actually using several different books, Charles Wells ATV Trail Guides is absolutely the best out there. It provides detailed descriptions of trail conditions when they change, they are mileage tracked, GPSwav point provided and very accurate to te actual experience.thank you.Now do the rest of Colorado and I will buy them all. ... Product Description
Simon rode a motorcycle around the world in the seventies, when such a thing was unheard of. In four years he covered 78,000 miles through 45 countries, living with peasants and presidents, in prisons and palaces, through wars and revolutions. What distinguishes this book is that Simon was already an accomplished writer. In 25 years this book has changed many lives, and inspired many to travel, including Ewan McGregor. ... Read more

4-0 out of 5 stars A must-read for motorcycle adventurers
This book has been an inspiration for many a motorcyclist over the years, including Charley and Ewen of course. Great story, great adventure!

5-0 out of 5 stars A True Classic of Travel Writing - Make Sure You Read This Book
I don't care if you get it out of the library, borrow it, or whatever, you should read this book. This book should be on everyone's "bucket list."

I just finished rereading it for the nth time and I was just as moved, amazed, and thrilled by the journey (and the good writing) as the first time I read it.I know how the story ends; but I just want to keep on reading and reading and reading.

I rode a bicycle around the world for over two years.Ted Simon captures the feelings of long-distance, long-time traveling like no one else I've ever read (although there are some other great books out there, see below). The thrill of departure, the shock of the new, the wariness of the unsupported traveler in a strange place, the difficulties of language and even alphabet, the fear, the exhaustion, the new-place fatigue, the need to just lie down sometimes, the misery of illness (though he was very lucky there), the numinous joy of the great places and views of the world (sometimes even the most ordinary places), the pleasure in seeing, hearing, smelling, tasting new things, the joy of finding your fellow humans all around the world to be very much like you and enjoyable to meet and know, the incredible education that travel gives you, the powerfully ambivalent feelings of the end of the journey and the return to home-place, never again able to see the world as you once had.The difficult re-birth into the old routines and requirements of your life. His story, especially his description of the end of the journey gives me goosebumps and re-awakens powerful memories of my own journey. As the cliche goes (it's a cliche because it's true) you can never step into the same river twice. The closest you can come is to take someone else to the river and watch them swim.

This book has lost nothing and it never will.It touches the universals of human experience found in travel. We evolved as wandering apes on the plain. It's basic to our bodily fiber.

Very little navel gazing in this book and what little there is is actually worth reading, unlike nearly all travel books I read that were written since Jupiter's Travels.

A true classic. And not the kind you feel obligated to read; but the kind you can't put down. One of the truest books I've ever read.Enjoy.

Some other excellent books about long-distance travel that I highly recommend:

Seven Years in Tibet
Full Tilt: Ireland to India with a Bicycle
One Man Caravan ("Incredible Journeys" Books)
News from Tartary
Canoeing with the Cree
Sailing Alone Around the World
Two Years Before the Mast (Signet Classics)
Arabian Sands (Penguin Classics)
The Exploration of the Colorado River and Its Canyons (Penguin Classics)

5-0 out of 5 stars Jupiter's Travels by Ted Simon
I'm only about a quarter of a way through this book, but so far I am finding it an excellent read! Ted Simon's "Jupiter's Travels" makes me want to sell everything, load up my bike, and hit the open road. If only I could talk my husband into it!

1-0 out of 5 stars Can't Rate, Never Recieved
This was the most desired book out of three ordered but unfortunately it was the one that didn't arrive.Dissappointing to say the least.

5-0 out of 5 stars THE Seminal RTW Round the World Motorcycle book
Yep this is the one. If you read only one RTW motorcyclists book this is the one. for me I read the adventure first in 1975 then headed off to Africa for 17 weeks. Now I have just read it again, nearly 35 years later - and this time went to South America. Despite the fact that TEd is a Pommy (Englishman) and rode a Triumph its still a great read - by teh way he did it again at 72. Yes readers it all starts HERE!. ... Read more
