Extractions: Summary: The CAMASE Register of Agro-ecosystem Models is a service of CAMASE, Concerted Action for the development and testing of quantitative Methods of research on Agricultural Systems and the Environment. The organization specializies in "...[d]evelopment and testing of quantitative methods for research on agricultural systems and the environment..." and seeks to share crop modelling information among European groups. The register is a compilation of European models used for education, research, and application in the agricultural field. The biosphere is experiencing increasingly severe assaults by pressures of expanding human populations. Climate change, tropical deforestation, and profound reductions in biodiversity are among the serious environmental concerns that are global in scope. At regional scales, water quality and quantity, endangered species, the threat of introduced exotic species to regional biodiversity, and the rapid disappearance of riparian ecosystems are paramount. Attention to the need for research and education in the ecological arena has risen dramatically in response to these threats. Arizona State University's strong group of ecology faculty in Life Sciences (core faculty) and other departments (supporting faculty) are taking on the challenge of training graduate students into the 21st century. A goal is better integration of basic research and ecological applications such as conservation, management, and environmental protection. Faculty in the Departments of Biology and Plant Biology offer graduate degree programs leading to the Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degrees with a concentration in Ecology. The majority of this software is PC based (DOS and Microsoft Windows programs) and often requires pkunzip to extract. We have found several Mac software packages; a very few Mac users may require 'UnStuffit' or 'BinHex' to get at them. Some programming language code is available including programs accompanying textbooks. Most code was written for PC based platforms, but some may be compiled on other platforms. My current position in the Vicker's lab (University of Utah), has provided me with an opportunity to augment my experience with more complex laboratory analyses.
