He also boosts students' spelling skills by demystifying contractions, abbreviations, capitalization, silent letters, suffixes and prefixes, and more.

Product Description
This hands-on book offers teachers a much-needed resource that will help maximize learning for English Language Learners (ELLs). How to Teach English Language Learners draws on two wide-ranging teacher quality studies and profiles eight educators who have achieved exceptional results with their ELL students. Through highly readable portraits, the authors take readers into these teachers' classrooms, illustrating richly what it is they do differently that yields such great results from English learners. Because most teachers profiled work within a three-tiered Response-to-Intervention framework, the book shows how to implement RTI effectively with ELLs—from providing general reading instruction for the entire classroom to targeted interventions with struggling students. Written by noted ELL educators Diane Haager, Janette K. 1-0 out of 5 stars Not worth your money
I was excited about ordering this book due to wanting to have more social skills-bldg activities for my kids' groups.I suppose I didn't read the product description very well; all these activities are for pre-K to K and a little confusing at that.I am disappointed.

2-0 out of 5 stars Not the best
I am an elementary school counselor and this book is not the best I've seen. Some of the activities are ok, but not worth the money.

5-0 out of 5 stars Easy Activities for Building Social Skills
There are 19 different social skills lessons with blackline masters. The skills are taught in a variety of formats including direct teaching, discussion, hands-on activities, role-play, puppet play, games, poems and stories, visual aids, and songs.I love to use literature when I can, and this book referenced many picture books for each social skill! It's a fabulous find-I only wish I'd had it sooner!

4-0 out of 5 stars Exactly what I needed
This book offers direct lessons with worksheets, group activities, games, and book suggestions all to match each skill being taught in the lesson. It is a great component to any social skills class/group.I am using it for 2nd graders, so the preschool focus may be true for general education students, but for students with social needs, this is appropriate for older kids.Enjoy.

4-0 out of 5 stars The Basics
I thought this was a good tool for use with ALL kids grades K-1, and the activities seemed fun. I was disappointed that it wasn't more clear that it was for such young classes. This isn't going to solve major problems, but it would certainly work to prevent some! ... Read more

Product Description
If you want to teach and inspire rather than simply lecture to a captive audience, if you are ready to expect and receive the best of which your students are capable, if you want to enjoy and take pride in the job you are doing, then Teach, Jane, Teach, Dick. Teach, Teach, Teach by Mona Pastroff Goldstein is the book for you.

The author tells true stories to help you remember the lessons and dynamics within a classroom. She identifies skills and techniques (including those for “facing the firsts”) based on thirty-five years of both her own teaching experience and that of evaluating successful practices in other outstanding educators. She encourages a highly motivated teacher to use, not just his or her own skills, but the many resources within the school and the surrounding community.

In addition to providing numerous specific lessons or techniques that can be replicated by the reader, the book offers competencies for instilling helpful attitudes needed to produce self-motivated and self-disciplined students.

Truly, the legacy of a caring resourceful teacher is a gift beyond measure!

From the supplier: Success in learning and teaching mathematics is substantially conditioned by the student's or teacher's attitude. Fears of and actual frustration and failure have been identified with false assumptions of students' knowledge, incomplete instruction and inadequate real-world applications. Effective math instruction can be enhanced by increasing real-world applications, integrating projects and contests to generate more interest and immediate correction of student errors to ensure continuous learning.

Product Description
In her classroom, Coffin has found that integrating reading instruction and poetry maximizes every kindergartner's opportunity to succeed at decoding and comprehending text. The strong rhythms, the rhyming patterns, the repetition of words and phrases, the enticing sounds of language, and the small, fresh, meaningful stories engage her students. Because each line contains only a few words, children are able to be successful at voice-print matching more quickly. In addition, the brevity of poetry entices a beginning reader to reread again and again. She shares her classroom tested poetry lessons with you in Every Child a Reader. For use with Grades KÐ2. ... 5-0 out of 5 stars A fun read
Even though this is a pedagogical book, it is still able to dance.Chock-full of good ideas!

5-0 out of 5 stars a must for every K-2 class
It can't get easier than this! This book is worth far more than they can charge. I feel every classroom should use this book and method along with the other styles of teaching reading.Helene carefully has outlined daily lessons for the entire school year!Listing lessons by month, and then lesson 1,2,etc. within each month. They are easy to follow, and really explain the background behind each poem taught.Helen Coffin has put hours and hours into researching just the right poems. These lessons really do enhance the learning to read experience along with teaching children a love for poetry!I feel every Kindergarten teacher should add this book to their curriculum, as well as 1st and 2nd grade teachers. The poems fit into all of the reading levels of primary age school children.
I also love her idea of creating a poem journal for the children, having them take it home to read with family and illustrating their favorites.

3-0 out of 5 stars Every Child A Reader
This book is helpful with helping low readers and gave me some new ideas to try. The only thing I didn't like was throughout the book at random places their was a "?" instead of the letter. But they sent a sheet of paper with the correct letter. So I took white out and fixed them so I didn't have to worry about keeping the paper with the book.

5-0 out of 5 stars believe!
I have seen the amazing Helene Coffin at work in her classroom at the Center for Teaching and Learning in Maine. I can't wait to get back to my classroom and put it in action. Her book is so straightforward it is so doable.Isn't that's what it's all about? The proof was in seeing her students eat this work up!Only they didn't know they were working - they were having so much fun!Watching her readers in action, the proof the poetry was there!Try it and you won't be disappointed at another teacher book that collects dust on your shelf. You will wear it out!

5-0 out of 5 stars A must-have written by a master teacher!
This book is an amazing resource, written by one of the nation's most gifted teachers.Helene's years of experience, coupled with her innate talent, become evident after reading this easy-to-read resource. I teach second grade, not kindergarten, but still found this book completely useful. Her innovate way of incorporating poetry in the classroom, not only builds students basic reading skills, but also knowledge of vocabulary, grammar, author craft, spelling and word work, fluency, and comprehension. ...
